I wanted to give you an award.
But it is 2,39€ for 500 coins.
And I'd only need 50 or so.
Sometimes some customers at work give me tips tho so it's no problem
This is gold. Everyone do yourselves a favor and go reread everything in Eeyore’s voice.
That’s exactly what I thought of!
This person is being extra lol. I live right next to the ATL braves stadium and when we have games there's two restaurants that you know not to accept unless you're willing to walk 1/4 mile there and back. Then there's another 4 or 5 restaurants in that area where you won't find parking and it's going to take longer because of traffic and no parking... This person should just not accept it or not beg when explaining the extra time it's taking.. they knew it wouldn't be an easy pickup when they accepted it.
The all star game is a bit different than just a regular game though. But yeah, there’s no way I’d even consider reliving in Seattle right now.
I dashed once in Seattle. Never again. That 3 mile trip is going to take you an hour and the parking stress is real. Maybe I'd do it on an electric scooter.
As someone who was just at the huge kpop concert last night at the ATL Braves Stadium and also walked to the airbnb before and after the concert, I would just not accept the order because practically all roads are blocked off as well has having standstill traffic. Now I am not from ATL, and I don’t know how busy it gets on game days and how it works, but I would imagine it’s somewhat similar.
I think ball games are 1. Not max capacity like a kpop concert would be and 2. Less structured as far as the crowd arriving and departing.
Ball games are more structured & I swear you can leave faster than how traffic was last night (I didn’t leave the lot for an hour & a half!!)
Last night was pretty messy by the braves stadium standards. Only 3 merch stands was also very disappointing 🥲
Good thing you got an air bnb & didn’t have to sit in that traffic
Twice performed there last night, stadium sold out. I actually splurged to stay at the hotel beside it so I didn’t have to deal w traffic. Concert let out at 11pm and traffic was sooo bad for at least an hour. Doordasher def should have stayed home but shouldn’t have spoken to op like that regardless
I went to the movie theater over there and i didn't realize there was a baseball game going on🤦♂️
Oh haaaay I also live by the stadium. The dashers are awful in this area tho so I never use it anymore lol
Use to live within walking distance from the stadium. You ain’t getting food anytime quick on game nights lol.
the battery is fye tho
What he actually means is " please tip me 20 dollars because for your order, i experienced all this inconveniences". Especially when he says he earns only 12 an hour
Yeah, he was fishing hard.
This is the translation to a tee. 💯
Yea I feel like it was all pretty reasonable up until that point.
12 an hour is less than minimum where I come from too
Minimum is 7.25 in my state 😂 like shit is really that cheap.
Holy shit I googled this because I couldn’t fathom where in the us you can scrape by on that. Georgia and Wyoming it’s $5.15! Federal minimum wage is $7.25 but they only have to pay you that if they get FLSA. Why the fuck are we not rioting like France. I live in one of the higher paid states I’m down. No one can eat let alone live on that!
One of the greatest things about living in Ga... Minimum wage hasn't gone up in 20+ years.
I’m honestly livid for you. I’d ask why you don’t leave but that’s a stupid question. It’d take you 10 years to save up for the moving truck.
I moved cross country to TN six years ago with 3 grand and a couple bags of personal items and clothes. Best move ever.
Did it 4 ago with what I could fit into the dude who drove me there from Florida's saturn ion lol. Shout out my mom lol
Damn bro, how many kilos did you fit inside this mule?
He stuffed him good
User name checks out
Lmao literally, same for Oklahoma. Otherwise, trust me, we’d leave.
That’s terrible! I thought Texas ($7.25) was bad? How are prices going to continue to climb but minimum wage does not. Minimum wage in America is out of control!
It’s actually disgusting and widely abused by employers. I see places with 12 15 etc minimum wage and I drool. I understand of course different places are insanely expensive to live. It’s not cheap though where I’m from that’s for damn sure.
I moved from Louisiana ($7.25) to Washington ($15.74) last October. While the cost of living definitely is higher, it is 100% NOT equivalent. Back in LA gas was about $3 a gallon and here it’s ~$4.70. The cost is higher, but I can afford a lot more on my paycheck. I lived hand to mouth in a “cheap” state and now I’m comfortable. Don’t believe the lies
Here’s an article proving you are absolutely correct.
Gas 3 in la? Nahhh not even close
I made $22/hr at my last job but the cost of living was pretty high.
Note that:
Georgia minimum wage laws also do not apply to the following employers:
*employers with sales of $40,000 per year or less;
*employers with five (5) employees or less
*employers of domestic employees;
*employers who are farm owners, sharecroppers, or land renters;
cries in Wyoming This is all true.
Yeah welcome to fucking Georgia! Where most of us are broke asf
I graduated in Wyoming and still to this day consider it the “butthole of America”, they pride themselves on being 20 years behind other states. If you think that’s crazy wait tell you hear about other things. Mind you I’ve live in Washington State currently although I’ve lived in Oregon and Hawaii too.
Wyoming doesn’t even allow federal and other state databases on criminals to link so it’s in the same boat as Alaska for criminals to hide out with warrants in other states.
Most basic jobs their will pay you $7.25 unless you find a decent employer or work in the oil field. The oil field jobs aren’t the most secure jobs let alone having to work with criminals, and meth addicts. (My father and brother have both witnessed a holding tank for oil in the field explode which incinerated three co-workers who’s remains had to life flighted to Denver, Colorado so they could identify who was who based of dental records. (I’d rather not die because someone didn’t do their job. The tanks are supposed to be filled with water after being emptied..)
I actually knew that they aren’t in the database because my wife is a dispatcher for the sheriff. It came up a few months ago. I completely forgot about that shit show until you brought it back.
Yep. Politics. They tell us it’s politics and stfu. We need to rise up and stop thanking the corporations for leaving us their crumbs and the government for rewarding them for it with the tax policies
So I feel very blessed (but also cursed because of the cost of living) to live in the city with now the highest minimum wage in the country (West Hollywood, ca)
I imagine that brings a new set of problems.
It does… small businesses are worried for sure.
Unfortunately it is😞
It didn’t take an hour for one delivery.
where tf are y’all from? where im from in oklahoma, the lowest paid workers are mcdonald’s employees making $9, i make $14 and make more than some that i know (i’m 17)
It really depends on the state you live in as the costs of living varies all over the country. For example in California there's $15 minimum wage but with the insane costs of living (especially with the recent inflation and looming recession) that $15 per hour is barely enough to get by for a single household, let alone a one that's supposed to support multiple people like a family that only has 1 parent working
Not to get too conspiratorial — but, I’m convinced that the economy is now set up to disincentivize having one stay at home parent. What used to be the norm in America is now a luxury.
That's not a conspiracy at all. Women entering the work force while empowering women also doubled the amount of workers available which has aided driving wages down (by not keeping up) and normalizing a dual income household.
All the more reason we should be supporting a full work week being 4 days to claw back that time we lost.
Yah that ain’t a conspiracy lol. Let the school system and an IPad raise the next generation.
Yeah and then let's fuck the school system by refusing to fund them enough (losing good teachers in the process) and giving them a one-size-fits-all standard that we know doesn't work for all kids.
At least there's the IPad...?
No such thing as middle class today in USA. What rages me a lot is when very old people like 70+ would say, "Get a job and buy a house." like it's that easy during their time in the past. Nowadays, you have to do all these side hustle shit, make your own small business, do investing, rely a lot on tips, etc. just to afford paying off a used car and a crappy rental place that only has one bedroom and one bathroom.
And don't forget the credit system wasn't implemented until 1989, so on top of only having to pay a nickel, they didn't even have to have their credit checked.
Got to collect those taxes…
Wages haven't kept up with inflation. Minimum wage should be 25 dollars now. Actually it's been two or three years since I saw this data, so it should be around $30 an hour average, based on housing and food costs in a particular area.
Heck doesnt even have to be a low cost of living area.... dc area is super expensive but virginia min wage just went from 7.25 to 12.00. A 15 min drive and its $15 an hr minimum in dc or md.
The worst part is being in retail people still expect 2010 level prices but my costs have tripled in the last 13 years.
DC's minimum wage went up to $17/hr on the first. MD is $13.25/hr
I'm in Montgomery county md where it's like $15 for small businesses.
Still crazy cause until this year va was at 7.25.
$7.25 is absolutely insane. VA cost of living is lower but nothing like that.
That was super low 10 years ago. How did they get away with that for so long?
that’s fair, and cost of living is EXTREMELY low here for the most part. for example gas is under $3 at most gas stations around me which is good considering how high it is in other states
While there are certainly states that have these minimum wages, nobody actually gets paid that except for shit like servers who make tips. In my hometown, it's still 7.25, but every job, including low-end stuff, starts at 10.
"I got called a she on Reddit, sigh I should've never gone outside today..." -Bill
Probably takes every order to be perfect AR and is literally making $12 an hour because of it. Can’t figure out how anyone else is profitable so makes his own way up.
Just someone that’s always a victim and wants everyone to know it
Lmao no its called begging for a tip without actually saying it😂
I agree with you, and I still stand by my statement
They are not mutually exclusive, both statements are correct lol
exactly, thats why it bugs me so much when people say stuff like the guy above. “lmao no you’re wrong. it’s because he wants a tip.” they must view the world in black and white.
At that point I think I’d rather just have them outright ask. I hate the tip-begging posts we see here but this womp womppppp is just embarrassing.
I felt second hand embarrassment from this
B-b-but he had to wait for the elevator!!! How can you not feel such pity for him, the poor poor fellow
For real
Being desperate ain't as bad as being desperate and trying to conceal it as otherwise lmao
Exactly.
Yeah like I genuinely feel bad for them for all the shit they're dealing with and most likely would have left a larger tip than usual out of sympathy but at the same time the "woe is me" attitude and not so subtle begging would turn me off from wanting to do so anymore
Lmao no. it’s possible for two things to be true at the same time. 😒
Little bit of A, little bit of B
Wow so true
“Should have stayed home” is hilarious lmfaooo
"Should of"
It's a doggy dog world, pal
Saw that on a buildboard the other day.
For all intensive purposes I could care less
Yeah lost my shit there.
Yeah, play-by-play on the delivery is weird, they just looking for an add tip
I find it so cringe but never let their manipulation get to me, its literally a job they signed up for. I teach, but I dont tell my students oh look I stayed up all night making the lecture slides, look I spent $200 on the class textbook, look I did this and that ..just shush and do ur job
No. He's guilting you. 3 min zone my assss
Right? I’ve seen 20 minute zones, but 3 minute?
I’ve definitely seen 3 min “passenger load/unload only” zones
“The Red Zone is for immediate loading and unloading of passengers only”
“The white zone is for immediate loadings and unloading of passengers only”
That they're telling you their whole life story and how much they make? No, not so much
I hate it when I get a hair stylist who does this… I’ll give you a bigger tip if you stfu…
My nail tech charges me $35 for gels and a mani but knows she'll get $60 bc she doesn't small-talk when the other techs will. Please dear God don't draw me into conversation, it's worth all the money in the world
“I mean I guess you could add $20 to the tip, idk. Everything sucks”
"should've stayed home" is such a wild thing to say
"Should of"
by far the most annoying of the common grammatical errors
"Will probably get a ticket but oh well..."
Seriously? I'm not parking ANYWHERE that risks getting a ticket for any order. AND, if I did, I'm not announcing it. Smh at the different versions of panhandling lol
If your only option is to park where you will get a ticket then just ask the person if they wouldn’t mind walking out to the car to collect their food like it’s really not that deep lmao
I understand the drivers frustration. We don’t get paid enough to have to search for parking. I feel any customers who don’t have convenient parking should come out and get it. With that being said, I would never send messages like this trying to make the customer feel like shit. I’d suck it up and get it delivered, then remember to stop taking orders to that address.
Yeah that would be nice, but at the same time the customer is paying more to have it delivered so they don’t have to leave their place. If I had to go downstairs every time I ordered something, I’d rather just go down the street and pay less while I’m at it. The convenience of the customer is usually the point of having something delivered. They’re paying more money to have someone else do a job so they don’t have to do anything.
I always go downstairs to pick up my food. They lock the outside door to our building after a certain time so I just got use to doing it every time I order, even if it’s not that late. I’m paying them to bring it to my apartment. Me spending 3 mins to take the elevator and grab it from them at the front door isn’t a big deal lol. Especially since most of the time when I order the restaurant is like a 15 min drive on the other side of town through 20 traffic lights
You’re one of the good ones
💯
Why do people think other people care how hard their job is? Welcome to life, working sucks 90% of the time.
This why delivery services are dying.
Inflation, increased fees, and mfers that do this or steal the food.
No. None of what the dasher said is any of your concern. They should’ve kept that all to themselves instead of trying to guilt trip you into a larger tip.
None of the drivers situation should literally ever be our concern. We pay a stupid rate and select the options assuming our order will be completed just like any other job. Tip culture has gotten to the point where they’ll guilt you for your city/buildings bs instead of getting mad at their employer who has every bit of the responsibility to block undeliverable locations.
When I was a pizza delivery driver only 3 years ago I would have been fired for making any of this the customers problem, the company would be happy to blacklist a house/building that proved problematic but it was on us to prove it and to our employer, not the customer.
Invent ghost traffic to increase tips...
Double it and give it back.
You got stuck in the same traffic getting home and now you're starving but you only make 7.25 an hour and saved up for celebrating your birthday alone again with doordash. And could you please not fuck it up for me because I'm not really in a good place. If you want to customize my delivery with a hug that would be great.
We’re all struggling 😭
Wish I could give you an award lmao they should’ve done this😂😂
I actually would have done this.
"Thank you for bringing me my food. It's difficult to walk after all the chemo."
That’s fucking hilarious. “Shoulda stayed home” literally sulking to himself and telling you about it. What is professionalism?
Absolutely abnormal. We DECIDE to do this. We can stop at anytime. Whining helps nobody.
It's a pity party of one.
Sounds like a big baby who needs to make people feel bad in order to get tips instead of prompt service and getting the job done. Did doordash for 2 years and the more time you spend complaining the less you are working, which is probably why he is making $12/hr. Which honestly sounds about right given how im perceiving their level of effort based on this interaction
I definitely understand this drivers frustration as a driver myself, but never in a million years would I ever think to text any of this to a customer.
I’d honestly report this driver if I was you, customers don’t deserve to get this treatment for things outside of their control.
I work retail and I can’t imagine helping a customer but complaining the entire time. lol “My feet hurt.” “Oh man I was just over here and you’re going to make me walk all the way back?” “Ugh I’ll probably hurt my arm picking up this box for you, but it’s fine.”
It's normal to say to yourself in your car to yourself while questioning life decisions, but no need to dump on a customer like that 😭
This is someone who feels entitled to everything by the sound of it
🎣 for 💸
I had one tell me that there was a detour due to construction and he was mad about it, I told him I’m sorry (I don’t know why) and he typed I DONT GET PAID FOR THIS. I was so confused I didn’t know if he was mad at me because of the construction or what??
This subreddit discourages me from ever using any service like this. It feels predatory against both the “contractor” and customer.
I bet he's alot of fun at parties.
Tell him to quit bitching you're not running a fucking hotline
No, drivers should not be giving a running commentary about their difficulties... other than letting you know there will be a delay due to the baseball traffic.
Sometimes driving sucks... sometimes we get money that is so easy it doesn't feel fair to the customer... it works both ways.
If you know a sporting event lets out near your home, then maybe try to avoid that in the future. But drivers should also know to move away from the area during those times also. I don't have any large sporting events where I dash, but we have a busy mall that is fucked on the weekends and I don't drive near there because there is no parking.
At any rate, don't let them guilt trip you... hopefully he was just having a bad day and lost his cool, because that is not acceptable.
In the case of parking id prefer the driver just give me the option to come outside and grab it instead of complaining about it like this.
“I’m sorry I think you may have picked up the wrong order, I didn’t order any whine in mine.”
Is Door Dash a social outreach program for fentanyl abusers or something? What is up with these messages?
I have no idea why this is popping up in my feed but can’t the driver just pull over in front of the house and throw on his hazards while he runs the food to the door?
“Should of” stayed in school
12 an hour that most likely a lie
So like.. if this was me, I would have upped his tip for the inconvenience naturally but not with all those messages. I would have deliberately NOT then. I routinely raise the tip if the driver has to wait at the restaurant, or even encounters traffic, cause I’m trying to make sure this is mutually beneficial and worth the hassle- but if someone sent me those sarcastic messages I’m just gonna feel weird and awkward and irritated tbh.
hell no that’s not normal. why tf they complaining about everything 😂
Delivering (or picking up) in the vicinity of a major event was an awful experience, especially if it catches you unaware. I didn't accept those orders when I knew that would be the case, but sometimes I came upon it without knowing.
I think the drivers deserve extra $$ than usual for putting up with it It's more time and aggravation than usual. (And they are saving you from dealing with it yourself)
When I was dashing and this happened to me, I would inform the customer that it would be delayed due to traffic and parking, but that's it. His approach is so miserable and he's shooting himself in the foot.
door dash needs to do some quality control of its drivers asap. they need to change something about their onboarding process that mitigates this.
That people have traffic issues? Seems pretty likely to happen to about anybody
What a whiney little shitbag. Do your job, make a mental note not to deliver there again.
This is weird.
Bro what is with service workers and their guilt trips? I use to deliver pizza and would be thrilled if someone tipped me 5 bucks.
The driver just said the quiet part out loud.
Translation, they're sitting in front of the restaurant waiting for your order to finish 😂
I have bad days quite often, but still don’t tell a customer more than “looking for somewhere to park, sorry for the delay,” or other important info. Maybe his day was so bad that his complaints just spilled out, or maybe he was fishing for better tips. Either way, bad days happen
No… dude is a chronic cry baby and whines about every thing. I wouldn’t have said any of this shit unless traffic made me slower.
Going to assume by baseball traffic this is in Seattle. You couldn’t pay me enough to dash down there until maybe next weekend.
Anyone who writes “should of” is instantly disqualified from any discussion they’re trying to have.
You just know most people in this person’s life finds them insufferable
Tell him to eat shit. What a fucking loser.
Somebody get the gun for this guy.
Ugh what an annoying person he seems to be
Just another way of begging for extra tip, without actually begging for an extra tip.
Tell me you want more tip without really telling me lmao
He's trying to get you to tip him fat stacks
I hate passive aggressive shit like this. Say it with your chest or shut up.
This is why I had to stop with Uber. You can’t get mad at the customers who are already paying an inflated fee. Get mad at the app. They are the ones robbing both parties daily.
Throwing himself a pity party. Don't buy into it.
poor baby having a wough day 🥺
He is probably running late because of his laziness and milking you for a tip at the same time.
Fuckin Eeyore man
Ha! Eeyore... Oh bother...
Why is he talking to you like he knows you? Lmao
Uhh.. no. This guy is being extra for some reason.
Dude is trying to get a sympathy raise for his tip.
I cannot for the fucking life of me understand why people are still using these convenience apps that are not cheaper, or easier than just going yourself. Especially when you have to deal with shit like this.
Just stop using them. Just stop. Stop.
Trying to make you feel bad, tip fishing. Getting to be normal but shouldn’t be
Fuck this guy
I’ve stopped ordering delivery because of so many messages like this, and the fake “doordash support” messages that some drivers send. I always tip well and in cash(I’m a bartender so I survive on tips too) but it seemed like drivers would feel like me ordering food was an inconvenience or even bordering on rude lol. It’s not worth it to me tbh.
Can anyone check on Bill? I feel like he might not be doing well
Bruh these dashers smh.
Hey a feral cat just jumped me on my bike, will be there in 3 minutes, sorry for delay.
Hey just to let you know a massive riot has broken out, currently driving thru lol, will be there in like 2mins 30 secs.
Hey dasher again, just letting you know the entire road just collapsed into a sinkhole but I managed to drive around it, sorry for delay still 2 minutes until I get there.
Sorry again for the delay, I'm about a minute away, the police just pulled me over after a shooting nearby broke out and I had to take down an active shooter, the police gave me a commendation and sent me on the way, about a minute away now!!
So a meteor just fell from the sky and onto my bike, not sure but it might be worth something, I've picked it up and put it in my backpack for now, still on the way about 30 seconds now.
Sadly this is what you get nowadays. Even reasonable to excellent "tips" (strangely collected BEFORE the service is even delivered) get asked for a handout.
What a cry baby
Hey you sad sap did I come into your home, rip you from your comfy chair, sell you into slavery, and force you to work for door dash? No, you chose this I just wanted food and didn't want to leave.
Ughh its like the equivalent of that meme where the chick texts her new boo with like "i have no electric bill money and it'll get shut off tomorrow but its okay ill figure it out".
What a sad bitch, no wonder they cant keep a job.
Pull this shit, you get zero tip from me. Don’t fucking try and guilt people to feel bad about DOING YOUR JOB.
Some people just have perpetual bad days
seems like this person is about done doing gig jobs and is at the "fk it" point.
The question is whether they find something better, or continue to keep saying "fk it" which seems to be the issue on theses apps these days, they attract the bottom of the barrel at Doordash and...where else is the bottom of the barrel gonna go?
Tell him to stop acting like a bitch and get a better job if he does not wanna have to deal with basic inconveniences of driving and parking
What a WHINER
Maybe he wouldve found some place to park if he wasnt texting you a play by play of the road. Its a plea for a big ass tip.
As a customer I would ignore this shit 100%
Heavy traffic or road blockages happen; a lot of times customers order delivery BECAUSE they don’t wanna be caught in it, so they pay someone else to do it. I’ve had bad experiences delivering before and it occasionally happens and is to be expected. It’s unprofessional to give you a hard time about it and trying to guilt trip you. It was his choice to take the order now he needs to get it done and not complain. Please report him.
Call this guy a wambulance jeez lol
I forgot that phrase existed! It's still delightful
That’s hella cringe… passive aggressive
Let the customer know there is heavy traffic- OK Dumping your grievances on the customer- not OK.
Is his name Eeyore?
