Traveling is boring and feels like a chore.
Removed: R1 ELABORATENot everyone needs to be world traveller. Don't let them tell you otherwise. You don't need to travel to have a good time.
Yeah, I love travelling and have travelled a lot but if someone isn't into it then why should they spend the time and money.
This! If I didn’t love it so much, even half the amount, I would barely do it 😂 There is so much WORK and STRESS especially if you’re hopping from city to city or huge language/culture shift. Shit will always go wrong and you have to be the person that sadistically likes the ride to a certain level. And then you’re like sweet I paid thousands of dollars for that
Actually on a trip right now and this is so relatable. I love travelling but it’s so much effort, and the stress (and physical stress too at times) is unreal. Like, my feet are destroyed from the amount of walking I’ve been doing, I’m exhausted and jet lagged. I would never do this if I wasn’t passionate about seeing the world.
Good point. I don’t mind when little things go wrong while traveling and I have to troubleshoot. I think that would stress out a lot of people though.

I’d say it’s the other way around tbh
Definitely. I’d never tell someone they travel too much but travel people love telling others they travel too little.
I agree but there’s a large gap between being a world traveler and staying in your house all day to watch tv and play video games. Idk, I think I’d kinda look back on life with regret if that’s all I ever did. But everybody is different.
Agreed, I'm the same way. The opposing argument is that any time spent doing something you enjoy is never a waste of time, which is true of course. But I'm already pretty disgusted with the amount of screen-time I have during the workday so I try my best to make it as minimal as possible after getting home. I consider any time spent outdoors or exercising time well spent.
Not if you're enjoying it. You don't regret not doing things you don't like.

I agree with this completely! But not everyone wants to admit that. I understand especially on Reddit tho, that not everyone wants to hear it. A lot of the demographic on here are living isolated lives in a bubble.
Edit: not talking about traveling, bc it’s truly not for everybody. Just agreeing about life in general.
My mom took us all over the country when I was a kid. I acknowledge I was privileged to do so…I still hated it.
Traveled a lot for a hobby I was engaged in as well. Hated that part of it. Such a slog. I’ve never had any sort of wanderlust and have always preferred home.

Meh. I believe there are some things you can know even if you haven’t done them. If you hate driving an hour to go to The Lake in the summer, you’re probably going to hate a trip 9 times as long for something else.
I don’t enjoy trying new things personally. If I try something new and hate it, it only reinforces that it wasn’t worth trying. If I try something new and like it it’s still generally a very shrug worthy experience and I don’t feel I’m a better or more knowledgeable person for it.
“Aren’t you glad you tried?” is one of my least favorite questions
they will never know true enjoyment.
I am but a lowly gatekeeper of the proper ways to travel. I bow to you, sir... gatekeeper of life enjoyment itself!
Your skill ranks up there with those who share the wisdom that you'll never know true purpose without procreating.
If all you do is hole up and play video games your health is gonna be very bad
You can definitely regret not doing things you don't like. I don't like brushing my teeth but if I don't do it I'll for sure regret it.
Right - I'd love to do a staycation, but I truly enjoy traveling to explore and to visit friends that I feel it's a waste if I stay at home for more than a long weekend. Even if it's just a longer-than-day-trip getaway to somewhere drivable.
Yeah, I personally love all the times that I’ve been privileged enough to travel in and out of my country. I want to meet ppl, see different animals, eat the food, see all the places, & learn about the realities/history for all different kinds of folk. Traveling for me, feels like I’m actually experiencing the “lore” of our world lol.
That being said, I think there’s plenty of things ppl can do to mix things up without traveling. I understand being a creature of habit very well, but I also see the benefit in keeping an open mind and challenging yourself on occasion :)
As a person without the means to go to the grand destinations, I’ve always appreciated that Henry David Thoreau wrote travel adventure books about his backyard.
Big “if I was allergic to dairy I think I’d kill myself” energy
A medical condition or allergy is not a choice. And he can do what he wants. Traveling isn’t the end all be all. I just know that even if I couldn’t travel, there are other ways I’d want to experience life outside of sitting at home in front of a screen. Even tho I enjoy doing that very much as well :)
You would think so, but looking back, some of my best memories are playing videogames/games with my friends. Meanwhile, I barely remember some trips to Italy or Morocco, since I did not travel with them or my family. I think it is usually the people we share the moments with more than the thing itself
Yep, and you can also travel locally. Not every vacation has to be done by plane. Not sure where you live but in my country there are a lot of amazing places where you can get to by riding the train for an hour or so.
The worst part is when people say you have to travel to be cultural
Not everyone needs to, but meeting people from different backgrounds and experiencing different cultures will make you a more well-rounded person. Anyone can benefit from travel.
Edit: I'd love to know what part of this people disagree with
Thank you, bunch a meanies in here 🥺
OP have you ever traveled abroad? Like Japan or Europe? Or visited domestically in cities like NYC?
Guessing you’re raised in the suburbs somewhere in the US?
Different strokes for different folks. I love travel but I also know lots of people don't care for it just like some people don't care for sports, video games, or any other thousands of hobbies/activities in the world.
I will say I wholeheartedly agree that getting to the destination might be the worst part about traveling unless you're wealthy enough to fly Business/First.
I'm in the camp of any time spent traveling beats staying at home, but there's a super interesting study that found a person's maximum level of happiness occurs in the planning stages of the trip, weeks or months before even setting out to the destination.
Wouldn't be surprised, I'd argue in many cases the anticipation of something might beat the actual thing many times because the real thing sometimes won't meet your expectations (or at least you'll have a fuller experience which includes the downsides) but I suppose most things don't involve active planning months ahead of time either.
I had the exact same thought. When planning something strictly for enjoyment purposes, I think the natural tendency is to idealize them as this flawless, perfect venture that will live you completely fulfilled. The reality, of course, is much different and filled with small nuances, inconveniences, and stretches of boredom.
Doesn't that just mean the actual trip isn't that great?
I really like that you’re sharing your personal opinion without acting like everyone else is wrong for feeling differently
I kinda regret making this post I didn't think it would make people so mad. I thought that was the point of this sub was to say an unpopular opinion.
If you’re getting people worked up in this sub over something as innocuous as this, you made a great post.
Thank you 😢
You should read this opinion: https://www.newyorker.com/culture/the-weekend-essay/the-case-against-travel
Anyway, I understand where you are coming from
This! Exactly. Well-thought, honest and funny :)
Yes, that’s the point isn’t it? It’s great if it makes people angry!!
Sign of a good post my man. I’m just like you when it comes to travelling, nothing wrong with it. There’s just way more people who love travelling and they can’t understand not liking it.
I hate to admit it, but I’m with you. I’ve traveled so much tbh, but nothing beats just chilling at home, sleeping in. Watching tv or playing video games. I made a joke w my wife that the best part of traveling is being able to sit down for 20 min and just chill on my phone after walking for 3 hours. Lol.
Until the edit, anyway.
Yeah, even though I disagree, I was totally fine with the post until the unnecessary edit
So I’m a total introvert, like spending time alone, watching TV or movies, cooking for myself. Etc.. I started a dog walking business where I get to work alone. I can be social but I much prefer to he at home than be out in a crowd.
About 7 years ago I started to travel on my own. It’s actually quite amazing. I get to be as social or anti social as I want. I love food and have no issue dining at a Michelin star restaurant on my own, I actually feel I get treated better because of it. I get to make my itinerary and follow it or change it to my liking.
I’ve been going away twice a year now, usually for 4 days around a long weekend, the shorter time in my opinion makes it feel like less of a commitment. I also choose to travel early in the morning to try and avoid the rush at the airport. (Doesn’t always work out)
But I have a new found love and appreciation for getting out and meeting people from new cities and new countries. I should add I use atlas obscura dot com to help find as many interesting things to do
I actually feel I get treated better because of it
They might think you are a food writer, I used to work at a high-end restaurant and when someone came in, in the evenings we would assume they were a writer.
I've never travelled alone, but a colleague did recently and she made some great points about doing it, I will have to try it sometime.
Good for you! Sounds like you are maximizing your satisfaction and reducing the uncomfortable parts of traveling.
Agree. Being on your own at times to do things can be amazing. No waiting on others.
I’ve noticed that too, when I travel solo I get my food way quicker, and even free drinks/desert sometimes.
Yeah man, I always get drinks comped, just recently I was in Philly and got all the food from a tasting menu comped. And none of these places owe me anything, but it definitely makes me feel special

Yes. I'd rather take a "staycation" where I just sit in my house all day in my PJs.
It truly depends on the destination
IT also depends on the type of vacation. There's a huge difference between sightseeing and an all-inclusive resort type vacation.
This is the thing, there are MANY types of vacations you can take and most people don't differentiate them or care to or act like there is only one way to go "on vacation". Even with vacations that are about traveling, there are many different ways.
Honestly, I’ll catch a 3:30am flight to Aruba or St. John or Jamaica and not be inconvenienced one iota because of that destination. I know that in a few hours I’ll be high as fuck on a white-sand beach drinking a piña colada with tunes. That’s a travel plan!
It's a common "joke" that when people get home from a vacation they say they "need a vacation from the vacation." I'm with you. I like some travel, but to places where there are things to do and see. If it's to sit by the pool or go to the beach, no thanks.
You do you. I game and watch a shitload of films and TV shows.
But I'd go a bit stir-crazy if I didn't travel every so often. It doesn't even need to be anywhere fancy. Just a cheap week in a European city every couple of months is just a nice change of pace.
Every couple of months?! Please tell me you live in Europe, not America? Otherwise, I'm going to be really sad about my life.
I’d imagine he’s in the UK. We get some insanely cheap flights to Europe, plus cheap Airbnb, its great. Paid £25 return for flights to Vienna and spent £50 on 4 nights of accommodation in a really nice hostel
Yeah. The UK.
If you go offpeak, you can get return flights to Spain, Italy, Malta, Turkey, Greece, Portugal for less than £100. Then we just get a nice airBnb and split the cost.
Just checked the prices from the US. Flights are a few hundred dollars more, but your higher salaries should make up for it.
I love traveling (usually) but I 100% get what you are saying. When I’m at home I have all my stuff and my dogs and don’t have to deal with masses of people.
Rock and Stone!
I agree somewhat. The boring parts (sitting in a plane for hours) have to be worth the destination. It's really fun to explore other countries, you just have to learn how to manage the boring parts.
Travel is cool but it's not a net positive for me. It comes at the expense of my REALLY expensive hobbies that I'd rather be putting my money + time into.
I am fortunate to have travelled quite a bit and now I'm more grown up I completely agree tbh. The world is a cool place but I agree travelling isn't as amazing as people make it out to be. It can be really tiring and a lot of places loose the novelty fast for me. I've felt more emotions watching a film than travelling to be honest lol.
Same..I've been lucky enough to travel a lot when I was younger and it was great but now, I mostly think that it's exhausting.
I always enjoy traveling, sometimes if only in hindsight. However, I do think it’s totally overrated, especially during season heights like Europe in the summer.
You are lucky, man. Traveling is my favorit thing. After being Home in my city for more then like 2 weeks Im bored to death haha. Travelling is expensive but I come from Sweden, staying at home is also very expensive.
I agree. I only travel if my wife/family wants to. I love going out and having a good time, but I can do that in my home city and come home at the end of the night.
This is how I am.
If I were single and had no kids I'd likely go nowhere anytime soon.
I dislike airports, I dislike planes, I dislike wandering around a new place.
I'd be content in my house with my games and a cat.
Maybe a fun car for cruising at the weekends.
I go along on family travel adventures because they like it.
It doesn't help that flying commercial is a similar experience to riding a Greyhound bus.
You go to a new place you’ve never been and you get bored within literally 2 minutes?
I mean different strokes for different folks, but that’s kinda just sad
I have never felt much of a sense of novelty when traveling. Feels like wherever you go people are kinda just doing the same stuff. Sure every city or country has a few unique elements but otherwise it's just restaurants, churches, and bars just like anywhere else.
As I have turned 30 I’ve started feeling the same thing. Just went on a weekend trip yesterday, felt like a chore, got bored of the scenic routes in a while, I think after a while we start seeing patterns and get bored.
I was exaggerating but after about half a day somewhere I get bored. I find myself more interested in the book I'm reading then the actual place I traveled to.
But is this really even about traveling? Everything you listed (books, shows, games) can be done while in a different location. And also while in transit getting to said location, which is the part you seem to dislike the most
This seems to be a post more about preferring those forms of entertainment over other things in general, moreso than it is about preferring them to traveling in specific.
It's not sad lol. Different people like different things. Way to judge.
This feels like a “I’m not comfortable being uncomfortable” type of situation. Some people prefer to be in a comfortable and familiar setting at all times. Others like to be uncomfortable and wander into the unknown; becoming more comfortable in many unique settings. To each their own!
You’re conflating a vacation with a trip.
I find that the time and stress involved in planning, packing, and the act of traveling itself (eg getting to the airport on time etc), dominates over the potential enjoyment of the trip itself. I won’t even bother if I’m the only one who’d be going.
Some people would say you’re stuck, I’d say you’re right where you need to be. Rock and stone friend.
Rock and stone!
Rock and Stone, Brother!
You're my kind of people

Its always so odd to me when people act like being in their own house is torture. I'm always wondering how they don't see that as a problem with something about their living situation that the one place in the entire world they can call their own is apparently so awful for them to be in.
Not a day goes by that I don’t get a twinge of regret that I have never seen Japan yet in my life and that I most likely never will. But the fact that that trip would cost me like two years worth of my hobbies - hobbies which I already only justify spending money on because they’re collectible based and I can always flip them back into cash in a pinch - is a trade that I can’t really make between liquidity and the idea of giving up multiple years of entertainment for a week and a half event that I would have to heavy interrupt my life around to pull off. I absolutely hate it but know exactly why someone would never not value their day-to-day consistency over going anywhere.
God I fucking hate how everyone acts like you can’t possibly be a well rounded / cultured / interesting / [insert morally good attribute] person if you don’t travel.
right? i have friends all over the world who share fun facts, recipes and their ways of life with me and i do the same. i dont need to haul ass to do a watered down, rushed version of that. im comfy here. never been to finland but have 2 finnish friends, told me about their foods and other small differences, know a few words. been to turkey twice and didnt get anything practical or useful or insightful from dusty old ruins or all inclusive resorts with more bars you could ever need.
You can't really be cultured if you've only experienced one culture. You can still be interesting and well rounded though.

Getting drunk with other tourists doesn't give any cultural experience either. Which lets be real, is all most young people do when they travel.
You just narrowed down your focus to one specific set of people and applied it to the whole of travellers. The context of this discussion is meant for all ages. Not a great opinion/take.
I would say that represents the vast majority of travellers. If you don't drink you can replace alcohol with food at restaurants that cater to tourists.
Most people do not experience the local culture when they travel in the slightest.
They go see the big ticket tourists sites, eat at restaurants that have English on the menu, spend their time with other tourists that speak and act like they do and leave.
That's not what I would call travelling, that's going a longer way than usual before getting drunk.
Tbh I never heard this type of people say that they love travelling.
This guy said any new place bores him almost immediately...even a crappy holiday resort should be interesting for more than that!
Getting drunk with other tourists doesn't give any cultural experience either. Which lets be real, is all most young people do when they travel.
Getting drunk with other tourists is not the only thing people do on vacation. Some people like to vacation like that, but there are many more ways to enjoy travel.
When I go on a trip i cant stand sitting on a beach or by a pool the whole time. I like to go do stuff. I figure that most of the time i am likely never going to be in that place again, especially if it is very far from home. So i want to see what it has to offer.
Also, while there is not a lot of culture to be seen getting drunk with tourists, there is quite of culture to find if you get drunk with the locals.
I've never enjoyed getting drunk when I travel. To me, that's boring. I can get wasted at home for far less money. I'm a sober, early mornings, and adventure type when I travel. I'm not wasting a morning or an entire day being hungover when I could be hiking, surfing, eating, shopping, visiting museums or seeing local wildlife.
Experiencing different cultures really does help broaden the mind.
And then every single person on dating apps lists travel to make them seem unique and interesting lmao. I do love traveling, though it’s rare for me to be able to do it because I’m poor, but I’m not kidding myself into thinking that it makes me unique and then judging others for not liking it in the same breath lmfao.
Yes exactly, it's an activity. Not an accomplishment.
There is some degree of truth behind it.
Even if you can be cultured and well rounded without traveling, traveling definitely helps and makes it easier. That same person can be even more well rounded with more exposure to the world.
It's hard to deny that there can be something potentially enriching and self-challenging in getting out of your bubble, rather than walking in your usual habits.
If you take the same person who would have otherwise stayed home all weekend, and give them more exposure to other cultures, let them experience travel, learn about other places by actually being there, get out of their comfort zone and challenge their perception, get out of their habits, put them outside of their usual world, and expose them to other ways of doing things on a daily basis, yes, it's gonna broaden their experience and mind a little.
It will give them a little bit more broadening experience from their usual life.
It's really about breaking outside of yourself. And if you do it right, it can be an enriching experience, and sometimes life changing.
For me personally, it's what helped me get out of depression.
But you’ve set up a false dichotomy between staying home all weekend and traveling, when there are tons of opportunities to experience other cultures between those two options.
Ugh same except the car rides thing. I love driving and do it a lot but staying anywhere other than my bed is awful lol. I want to travel. I want to see new places but it honestly just never feels as good as the anticipation of the trip
I like to sit inside and play games....... But I LOVE driving.
I'm definitely a "the journey is better than the destination" type of guy...... Once I get to whatever location, I'm pretty bored.
I love cross country driving. I do it every single chance I get.
In my youth I really enjoyed traveling, today I'm not the slightest bit interested.
Same and even more so now I’m disabled. Getting to the planes a hassle, the judge looks when I stand out if my wheelchair is annoying, the beating my body takes isn’t worth the recovery time. Road-trips are hell too a shirt drive is painful enough. Hours of it add in bladder/bowel issues and fainting if I’m upright too long and just no
Traveling makes me feel sick and its expensive. I'd rather stay home too.
I don't think traveling is boring, but it's definitely a chore and very stressful for me. I can only handle being away from home for a few days at a time.
I like my own space, my own hours and I want to save what little money I have. I rarely travel.
Traveling was prob way better before the internet tbh. You can pretty much know exactly what to expect based on 4k videos and peoples reviews online now. Back then it really was more of an experience to go somewhere you had never been to. I still like traveling to try new local restaurants, but at this point, any decent sized city will have an adequate restaurant for the type of food you’re looking for. I’m sure I sound ungrateful, but I found my 4 week European vacay more stressful and exhausting than relaxing. I still enjoyed and I’m glad my wife enjoyed it. But I really love to just be home and not do anything.
I get you. I did quite some travelling in the past, but now I can't bother.
it’s fine to not like to travel, but it’s possible that certain places might interest you more? i don’t like to travel for the views/food as those things don’t interest me, but going to different amusement parks, waterparks, and stuff like that is super fun for me and worth a drive (i don’t take planes so we road trip everywhere lol)
ROCK AND STONE!!!
PS, me too.
Have you been travelling at all? If you have, that's fine, but I felt the same way until I went overseas with my parents for the first time
I feel like a lot of people who say traveling is dumb haven't been to many places.
I’ve been to about 20+ countries and I find it quite boring tbh.
You've experienced a lot of it and it's not for you - totally fair.
The only time I have issue with someone saying this is when they have never actually traveled. I have a few friends like that who say traveling is boring or not for them when they've never actually taken a trip. IMO a lot of it is cope because they can't afford to travel so they downtalk to explain it away. Kind of like people who can't find a partner so then talk bad about the opposite sex when we know how desperate they are to find someone.
for having gone plenty of places when i was young i can say that travelling, while still enjoyable sometimes is very much overrated
The people with zero personality that don't bother learning other languages and think they're cultured cause they have disposable income to travel are BIG mad ✨
This is an unpopular opinion, so take my upvote. People are thick as pigshit; everyone is different and if you don't like travelling that's fine. It's your life to do with what you see fit. If you don't like dancing, people seem to think the best thing to do is force you to dance, and I feel here a lot of people seem to think you just haven't travelled to the right places. Living your life according to other people's standards of what's fun/enjoyable is a sure-fire way to waste what little time we have on this planet. Do what makes you happy.
Mate I'm 23 and have literally ditched travelling for gardening, I grow my own corn, tomatoes, potatoes, chillies, you name it and Ive probably tried growing it.
I have so many plants and I love it. I love checking my plants each day, coming in after and watching twitch, I love relaxing and playing games after doing some gardening. But who else does this in their 20s? Practically no one. I was inspired by clarksons farm to start this.
I lost friends because they called me boring for living a lifestyle like this, genuinely, I had a close friend that told me if I don't go out with him on weekends to different places and do some cocaine I was "boring ".
Some people can't handle relaxation, and that's okay, we can stay in our homes and live life how WE want to live it. I think it would bring me anxiety if I left my plants for more than a day, I just love my garden / home too much now.
THIS! I went on holiday for a week in early May and when I got back my vegetable patch looked like it had been abandoned for three months. I swear the slugs and the weeds know when I'm not there. On reflection next time I'll stay home and have a safari with a magnifying glass.
(not in my twenties anymore, but wasn't much different at the time - just couldn't afford a garden to match my ambitions)
I like to stay home and read and play games sometimes, but if that’s ALL you ever want to do, and never want to go anywhere new or try new things, that sounds like a boring life to me. But to each their own.
I do try new things. I just started a new video game last night 😉
Just curious, how do you live with no curiosity as to what's out in the real world? Hopping from video game to video game just seems fruitless.
I can check in on the real world on the internet. It's not like I spend every minute gaming lol.
Youre probably 15
I've come to believe that a large percentage of people that do a bunch leisure traveling(>2 times/year) really bind their personalities to it and get to the point where the only thing interesting about them is the places they've been. I think their real life is so boring and stale that they overcompensate by going to all these exotic places. If they were to work more to make their real life more enjoyable or interesting however that may be I think they would feel less of a need to travel so often.
Personally i have curated my life to have interesting hobbies, cool people, a good job, and a good home so that the need to get away rarely ever crosses my mind.
That being said i am not much a fan of traveling but i think every couple years is a good amount to the point you aren't insufferable when i have to hear about all these AHHMAZING places you went to every time i see you.
Obligatory obviously not everyone fits this mold but i think we all know people like this.
As someone who fits that description, I agree!
But then again how is that different than someone who really likes NFL making it a big part of their personality, or someone who's super outdoorsy, or a runner etc? I feel if you put a decent amount of time/energy into something it's kind of bound to become part of your identity/personality...
Travel gets a bad rep I think mostly because it's been a big part of "influencing" culture, but like if you like going to see cool places, meet different people, eat different things and explore different cultures I don't see how that's inherently any different than any other interest. There might even be overlap between interests (ex: I like hiking at home so I enjoy hiking to different sceneries when I travel)
100% this!
I do too, I traveled via bus for over 24 hours. It sucked yeah we only stopped like 5 times in total and people were loud drinking playing music. Its stressful and all that making sure you brought everything that you didn’t forget anything and so on. But when I got home and visited my grandma my cousins it was beautiful that made it worth it. I realised I wasn’t traveling for sightseeing or to buy souvenirs but rather for my family. To see them is the objective and I lost sight of that and thats why I found travelling all that way boring and stressful.
take my upvote, this is truly unpopularopinion
If I was rich I'd travel a lot
I enjoy new destinations, it's the getting there I don't like and the travel home that I loathe.
Right there with you. Home is my happy place. My deck, my dogs. Peace
Same, friend. I’ve done quite a bit of traveling to the places I felt a draw to. And I would absolutely go back to those places, but I’ve already been. I dislike the chaos and anxiety of finding someone to watch my dogs, leaving them, the actual traveling bit, and being away from my super comfortable bed. Not to mention the horrors of traveling with other people. It’s definitely an eye opening experience to do a road trip with a friend.
I agree. I'm a massive homebody and hate traveling
There is something to be said for it. I used to travel a lot, and have spent the last seven years consolidating debt. The ability to garden and not have to think about the world cannot be over emphasized. Being able to garden for 4 months.
I travelled some so I know I don’t miss much staying at home.
Okay. More room for us!
I have never heard it put like that before and I couldn't agree more.
I can't imagine anything more boring, personally, than travelling to a place to look at stuff I can see on my TV or the internet. Or to sit on a beach and do nothing. It absolutely does feel like a chore.
But since I know this is an unpopular opinion, upvote!
You sound like you have no attention span at all which is much much worse than not caring about traveling.
My ADHD is the reason for wanderlust, I can't live anywhere more than 2 years.
Yeah I have ADHD.
maybe you shouldn't base your entire personality on traveling to places.
I was going to be somewhat sympathetic in disagreement (different strokes for different folks) but this comment just makes you seem like someone full of jealousy and bitterness tbh
I feel ya. Fuck these people telling you you need counseling 😂. It's the crowds for me. Annoying. And loud ass kids at the pool and their karen moms being loud and obnoxious

Travel doesn’t have to equal crowds, pools or Karens.
No need to travel to big places! I’m currently camping for a week and it’s so quiet and peaceful. It’s a nice change. i live in a crowded city so I doubt i would ever want to travel to another busy place
Flying definitely does. But a good road trip feels like freedom.
It is interesting how glamorized it is which is funny because travel is incredibly expensive and very bad for the environment and oftentimes hurts other cultures
It also helps a ton of communities make money
There are countless communities that only exist due to the revenue generated by tourism.
Travel is literally woven into human DNA dude
No, it's not. Not even metaphorically.
What gene sequence is travel in bro?
No it's not? Tourism was reserved for only the wealthiest people in the world up until like 40 years ago.
Only 3% of Americans had a passport IN THE 80's!
Depends how you travel.
Trains rule. Planes are pretty good. Car rides? They do suck.
I’m an archaeologist so I do enjoy travel and new locations/sites.
Boring life Brody
I assume that someone who says "in my room" probably lacks the financial ability to travel to interesting places in comfort. Either you're still in college or recently out of college and living with roommates.
Yeah, I'm poor I live with two roommates, but I still don't think I would travel even I was a billionaire. I just hate sitting in planes so much it makes me claustrophobic.
i live alone comfortably and do not travel. this is such a weird take.

I used to have the same opinion but now disagree , a vacation is not always so take your time to enjoy it
Same, although i think it's more about the trip than just traveling. Good company makes all the difference here. Whether that be my gf or the bois. Destination too, I could care less about the eiffel tower, that restaurant next to it tho, I'm all in.
I travel a fair bit for work, so traveling in my free time is pretty unappealing
Having an itinerary when traveling is a chore. I prefer to go to a place with like an idea of a couple things I want to do. Then I do whatever my heart decides on a whim
Travelled exclusively for work. Sure it is fun to go to new places, but work took up most time, rest living in hotel playing games.
Sure you go out to eat on your one day off, but it does get old.
Definitely unpopular.
I usually don't enjoy the actual driving or flight, but once I'm there it's all about enjoying a different environment, people, weather, etc. I don't travel to be at a place that I won't enjoy, and I do make sure I will enjoy the place.
But, if my fictional videogame character can explore, so can I.
That certainly is unpopular 😉. I love traveling for the "chore" because I hike and ride my bicycle through Europe. But you do you as long as you enjoy.
I feel like that’s fair.
I know a lot of people who don’t like traveling.
I love to travel, but I’m not going to lie it’s a lot of work unless you are just going to a beach to lay out and do nothing.
Planning where to stay, planning where to go, planning what to eat, planning transportation, packing, etc.
Then don’t even get into if you’re flying and your flight is cancelled, delayed, etc.
Some people don't like travel and that's ok! I do wager you have at least one place you'd really love to see though.
I wouldn't say boring, but more like stressful, especially if I'm abroad. I also just prefer to stay at home.
I also hate traveling but that is probably because I have been on a plane twice in my life (mid 30s) and every time I've gone anywhere, I've driven. We do not have good public transit where I live.
So yes traveling = long ass car rides to me and long ass car rides suck. Usually I am happy to be at the place I am at when I get there and have a good time but constantly dread the trip back home.
Sometimes I feel like it wasn't worth it.
I'd be more into meeting new people rather than building and cities. I don't think places are that different from each other for the most part.
I wonder if OP has gone out for a hike to see Mountain Views. That’s my type of traveling
Thanks for sharing. It’s good to know that there are people who don’t like to travel.
More travel for me!
If we're not staying in a hotel, i hate travelling more than i hate myself. Because if the place we're staying is not clean, i will be hesitant to clean myself which is hella unhygienic and I'll get breakouts on my face, sweat and dirt will accumulate over my body and my hair will have turned white from dandruff.
Also I'm not a traveller I'm a vacationer so...
