First year in probably 15 or so that I've been back peak summer. Forgot how oppressive it is outside when it's 100+ with this much humidity, just drains your energy so quickly.

The problem is the quality difference from basic fresh pesto to best jarred is massive.

When I heard Axe I just thought of "My Pafology" from American Fiction. Just felt a little unnatural delivered by the thespian JEJ.

Yah, Denzel's performance in a theater would come across as flat, while James Earl Jones' in film would come across as hamming it up.

It’s all about finding a balance on the slow days. Sometimes I’ll just take it easy and enjoy it, other times I might try to find something to own, focus on a skill I can improve, or see if I can help out some colleagues.

Also see a lot of people who clearly put zero effort in and expect the world. A lot of jobs will seem shitty if you’re a terrible coworker.

You also need to actively be evaluating jobs and managerial fits during the interview process, which it seems like a lot of people here brush off.

Less money than I thought.

I feel like the Mid-Late 10s have just warped my perception of free agent contracts. It felt like everyone who changed teams signed for the max possible.

This is also Reddit, which is casual discourse, not scientific study. I’d rather be open about discussing anecdotes and not pretend they’re statistically significant.

Probably got called out for showing up to a formal event in a terrible suit and/or not having one

As someone who enjoys both, I think it’s because the people who are assholes about it are assholes about it. Kinda like total stoners give cannabis users a bad public perception.

In a decent world, we'd probably reference the enumerated powers of the Executive Branch. Which should not cover inciting a mob to overrun congress. But who knows if anyone in the GOP has read the constitution.

Damn near everyone I know IRL thinks Biden is still the best choice, if only for the insane logistics of running a campaign at this stage.

Reddit is the only place I regularly see people who identify on the left side of the aisle saying he should drop. And Reddit can misjudge real-life vs Political Thriller pretty often.

Idk, I think it's that most of us have seen way too many threads where that wouldn't be sarcasm.

Anytime someone brings up "humans are evolved for this" talking about individual fitness activities, chances are they haven't actually done what they're talking about.

I see it a ton when it comes to dieting, specifically about how sustaining a calorie deficit is easy

As a former CC runner, you can be in great shape but if you're not running "right," sub-7 will be almost impossible even for a single mile. Even if your fitness is generally there, most people will have zero clue how to pace themselves or have some bad form that will lead to pain/injury if you're running too hard and stressing something.

Well you’re dumb for traveling already! One knows that the best use of one’s vacation days is gaming! /s
