You love golf more than me!
I once sent a 5 second video of me petting my cousin's lapdog on my lap to an exgf. It was a really cute dog.
She was pissed and stopped talking to me for DAYS because she was jealous of the lapdog.
We sure we don't have the same ex? Sounds like the kinda shit mine would pull š
I believe she was jealous of the dogs intelligence.
"If I was lost in a wood with a bear? Would you rather save me or golfing with the bear?!"
āGive me more attention ā
12 hrs a dayā¦
I was a circus performer and juggling help me manage my asd/adhd, my marriage was falling apart and my wife demands I train less, tour less, and make more money. She actually convinced me I was the problem.
Work less and have more money? Sound logic right there. Hope youāre doing better now brother.
One of the biggest recurring arguments with my ex wife was that I worked too much overtime, the second was that I didnāt earn enough.
I would throw up my hands and be like āIām open to suggestions hereā.
Edit: Too many folks harshly judging my ex, she was naive in some ways and could be unreasonable but all in all she was kind and also trying her best. She also deserved better than she got in that marriage.
Isnāt that crazy. I had the same thing with my ex-wife. I came to her saying we really need to spend less and create and stick to a budget.
Instead of spending less, she told me I needed to earn more. Not WE need to earn more, I do. Iām an accountant and made way more than her.
I couldnāt even think of a counterpoint that would make sense to a person that had the stance of me making more vs us spending responsibly.
Anyway, we divorce (she filed), and I left flat broke. Like literally less than $100 in the bank. In less than 2 years I had over $100k in the bank. It was eye opening to how much she was actually spending. My household income went down considerably, but still stacked cash.
How long did it take her to spend through the divorce money or did she find a new dad
No clue on either. Lol. I would bet all I have that sheās paycheck to paycheck now though.
My dad once told me to treat situations like that with āWork hard to be successful and happy in your life. Itās the only answer. Because at the end one of you is going to have regrets and you need to make sure it isnāt you.ā
good for her and congrats to you!
Yes
You spend all your money into maximizing opportunities for getting a new dad.
Sadly, that also rings kinda true for a lot of employment&careers.
It definitely is surprising how much they spend..Wish I could say the same about all this extra cash. The reality is she has the privilege of rich family so we didn't have a mortgage yet somehow she still managed to spend a lot of what I earned (she Always had an excuse not to work). Now I'm paying 2k for rent, almost 1k in support (along with all the other child expenses I had before) and somehow still making it work every month
I had a gf that said she would go half on rent because I spend so much so Iād have more money, she wanted me to get a bigger apartment for the both of us. Once we got the place she was asking for she didnāt contribute to rent at all, she asked her dad for tuition would blow tuition for her college in shopping and get her dad to send it again. She would spend her paycheck at the trendy clothing store she worked for. Was mad that I didnāt spend enough time with her that was working too much and I never had money to go out and do things. She would go to restaurants and if I was lucky Iād get her left overs. He dad told me I didnāt work hard enough and that by my age (20) he had bought his family a house. I snapped told him off told her off and burned the relationship to the ground. It was one of the best decisions I made. 10 years later she did apologize though
Used to live with someone that was over-spending to compensate for feeling bad (she was slightly depressive).
I was earning a lot more, but it still wasnāt much. I was fine with it like providing was ok. However, I wanted us to save a bit of money, to be able to have a little stash to change jobs and earned more.
Never managed to do that until we broke up because if we still had money she'd spend it.
Dude. Same thing with me this year. Both of us pulling in 200k/year but somehow all the money (after 401ks) was getting spent. Split last year, my mortgage is twice as much as when we were together (fuck interest rates) and yet somehow Iām still left with MORE money to spend than I ever had before. Itās amazing how some people can just spend money like crazy!
How did you escape crippling alimony payments? This sounds like a situation where the man usually ends up poor in perpetuity.
Let me guess how many times she offered to step up and contribute: was it zero times?
And in 20 years she still wonāt understand why sheās been divorced 10 timesā¦ā¦
10 times?!
Women like that never get it. I got divorced 10 years ago and my ex has been divorced 4 more time since. She was and is the problem. Sheās made a living on taking half of peoples earnings. Whole lot easier than working I guess.
To paraphrase Oscar Wilde...
To get divorced once may be regarded as a misfortune. To divorce twice looks like carelessness. 10 times and I'm wondering what the fuck is wrong with you.
The amount of emotional abuse men have to deal with just shows that women would be just as violent as men if they were stronger.
Youāve obviously never seen four high school aged girls grab pencils and staplers and go after another girl for ālooking at them wrongā and need 8 teachers and staff to sort of stop them for about a half hour until no ones around again.Ā
I have seen this but I will say Iāve never seen women be violent as often as men are. I work in a bar and itās 90% men who instigate fights. I do know some women will egg them on but most of them urge them to stop fighting.
Absolutely true. My mom and sister used to hit me until exactly when I got bigger than them.
Yep, theyāre often violent towards younger people, too. I got SAād by older women multiple times. Horrible experience.
I feel some modern women just donāt like being full-time moms, but to admit that(completely normal) makes them feel awful so they project it onto their husband/partner ānot doing enoughā. Hence they want you to simultaneously spend more time at home and have more money without seeing the inherent contradiction. I blame social media and reality TV for making average people think that life and raising kids isnāt supposed to be the day-in-day-out grind it always has been and therefore they ādeserve betterā
The olden days some women didn't like it either and they were free about saying so.
Agree, but I think perhaps the difference is back in the days when we werenāt so exposed to social media and other peoples lives, It was known you needed to work and build your own alternative lifestyle. It seems these days many people feel entitled to a dream life that someone else is supposed to provide for them(this applies to all genders/backgrounds)
Looking at the "ex", seems like the issue was also the solution.
My ex wife did a smudge burning in my house, apparently it was to get rid of negative energy, she asked for a divorce soon after, I often wonder if she ever got the irony.
Haha
Juggling hands is wild tho
by ex-wife I see you chose the only option where you could manage both
It's a manipulation technique used to destroy your psyche.
I'm running across this problem but my Wife at least isn't obnoxious or pushy about it. She does want me to work less but also wants us to have more money.
Just buy more money dad

That edit is too empathetic and nuanced for Reddit comments sir. Please revise.
Respect for the mature and honest perspective on you relationship. It would be really easy to lean into those harsh critics and their support. I so rarely see people displaying that kind of mindset.
I went from working 50-60 hours/week at a nonprofit to 40 at a corporate job at more than double the salary of my bossās boss. I help more people now, too.
So true. I hate nonprofits. They are users and abusers in the worst sense usually all under the guise of you donāt burn yourself out then you donāt really care. Guess what? Turns out I liked not wanting to kill myself over helping you get more tax free money.
My ex would go out of her way to tell me how unattractive I was for having less education than her and how I just needed to go back to school when I was making like 4x more money than her. It's called projection, I believe.
And her time is way way more important than yours when your job is actually four time more important then hers.
How do you kill a circus? šŖ
Go for the juggler š¤¹
Iāll get me coat š§„
Fuck, youāve really dropped the ball on this one!
Sit down! Here's a beer. That was epic dad humor! šš¼
Sounds like she's missing the big pictureāsupport should go both ways.
The amount of people that are attracted to artists and then immediately demand their partner curtail their art, settle down, be less public, is too damn high and I see it all the time.
Reminds me of the Patrice o Neal joke regarding how men are fisherman and women are fish. And when she lands on the boat she expects you to quit fishing, but fishing is how she found you attractive. Anyways go watch elephant in the room because he does a masterful job on that analogy. And he predates all the red pill bs that is online even though he inspired many of them
My ex wife convinced me that I was being selfish for spending most of the year on the road, working 7 days a week so that we could pay rent and have health insurance š
Sounds like narcissism or a personality disorder. There are some really meaningful studies about divorce now, and a few that struck me pointed out the no-win situation, that you are pushed to work more to provide better, because it isn't enough, and then you are criticized for not being there enough.
Yeah, I eventually stumbled onto "The Narcissists prayer" long after we split, and realised I'd heard it verbatim so so many times. I'm doing the work to fix childhood conditioning, it's an effort, but it's worth it.
No wonder she married a circus performer she a clown lol
Please dont insult clowns by comparing them to her.
"Honey, you should come join the fire handlers' act."
"You really think I have the skills?"
"Sure! You're such a natural gaslighter!"
So many marriages end this way
Who juggles life better: circus or marriage? Asking for a friend
My ex wife wanted me to quit my union job cooking to buy a food truck in a rural place and expect to have the same life. I asked if we were going to live in the foot truck as well, because that's the only way it would happen.
Make more money so she can spend itā¦
Sounds like you couldnāt juggle your issues
Just work less and make more money.
Exactly this, here, except I did a different type of entertainment performance work, which helped me with my social anxiety and isolation. Met my partner in the audience at my show, and the rest of the audience spent the next 2 years helping us achieve the goal of moving to Europe to start a family with her. So our entire relationship was started and built on my show. We courted with a live audience. Moved over here and she's often annoyed when I do the very things that got me here.... I made more money than her, with less hours, and without ever having to leave the house. But she had 15 years in at her job and it was a long contract and a ton of stability, so I agreed to scale back my own gig to raise the kid while she focused on hers. For the next 2 years she harassed me to make more money, but traded off my job for hers at every turn, including working lots of unpaid overtime while my core audience withered away. Also would get angry if I spent a few bucks to go out on a rare free day to, you know, actually see the new country I had moved to.
I'm rambling here but in the end she finally started to get it, and eased up, and things are improving in most areas. She doesn't treat me like shit, so I'm in a lot better mood and make more money on my live shows, which makes it even easier for her to ... not treat me like shit.... so it's gradually starting to work out. I'm lucky. But I'm also dumb, because I used to make 5-8k a month sitting in a bathrobe playing video games and doing whatever the hell I wanted the rest of the time, and now I make a fraction of it while rushing around cleaning house and having to answer to her about everything all the time. Sure I got to move to Europe, but to what end? I've literally been nowhere in 3 years over here. But hey, the girl is a lot nicer lately, so that helps a lot, genuinely. The nice version of her is the whole reason I came here.
Sorry about your experience though :/
Easy. Divorce her. Marry someone else rich. Now you can train less, tour less, and have more money.
You surely were the problem. You married the wrong person.
Acoustic fingers style Guitar is my go to for asd/adhd management, but my wife is super understanding and extremely encouraging.
As a matter of fact, I was misdiagnosed as bipolar 2/ADHD about 12 years ago. It was my wife that started realizing I was on the spectrum. My therapist is working with me now to get that diagnosis changed. But we also think CPTSD, hence the misdiagnosis of BiPolar2.
And now that Iām aware of my ASD, Iāve been doing much better. Noise cancellation Bose and an I watch to keep me on track have been hugely helpful.
We had bad communication and that caused a lot of issues within our marriage, but now we communicate super well because of all the ASD management shit. So you really do need to manage yourself properly, but you absolutely need a partner who understand and helps you
I used to attend the uni juggling club and there were several touring buskers in there. They spent about 1-2 hrs a day practicing. (Not alot I donāt think for semi-proās) I learned how to ride unicycle, club juggle and pass juggle there over 6 months. Sorry your wife was toxic.
They donāt live in reality!
That's why you don't marry colleagues, the juggler and the clown aren't good marriage partners
āWhy are you out earning us millions and millions of dollars in a job that doesnāt risk your life, that youāve practiced to do since you were a child and long before you met me that you have become one of the best in the planet at, Why Rory? Why do you do that?ā
"It doesn't even make any sense?!! ANSWER ME"
Because folding laundry isn't as thrilling as acing ninja skills, obviously!
Are you telling me that being a stay at home mom isnāt the toughest job in the world!? š”
What the hell is this assholeās problem on the side of me? Yeah, asshole, bite me!
āWe have only been to our third vacation home twice this year. You never spend time with me. Always golfing! Iām so bored all day without a job and nothing to do.ā
Smart career move.
Are they hiring?
If youāre good then yeah. Iāll let you in a little secret though, itās hard as fuck
Pfft. Small ball, big hole. How difficult could it be?
Ask your mum
Golf is so stupid hard.
Yep, all you need is god given talent/skill, train from 4 years old and have parents that earn enough to pay for your constant training. Easy.
His job is also the rest of the year where he has to be constantly practicing.
"You're just not same anymore"
"It is like, I am living with a different person"
Iām sure sheāll happily take her earnings and let him keep his in the divorce.
My guess is that it's more than that. It's not about playing tournaments and making money. It's the obsession with playing nonstop even on days off. That's why these guys are the best in the world, because they're practically playing in their sleep, they just cant stop.
He doesn't snore, he just keeps yelling fore
Well he needs to practice.
These same women claim they made you the man you you are. It annoys me how quick someone can hijack your success and take credit when it was primarily you who put in the work. They just got a free ride
To them snagging a rich guy before he got snatch by other hussy is an achievement of the centaury.
Is this 100 centaur years? Or 50 horse years and 50 human years?
Centaury are monogamous Centauri.
Why canāt u find a normal 9-5 job that pays the same like the rest of our neighbours?
When the neighbours are Woods and Rahm....
I mean at some point they have enough money and could travel around the world every day and not work and spend more time together.
You donāt become the best at something just to make enough money to quit. He loves the game. She doesnāt love the attention it takes away from her.
I. can. Fix. Him.
Man: what golf club do you want me to use?
Woman: I donāt know. Whatever.
Man: hand me a 8 iron.
Woman. You know I donāt like 8 irons. Why would you say that?
Women get married thinking he will change. Men get married hoping she won't change.
Marriage: where optimism meets realism in the most unexpected ways.
If you dont ruthlessly sift out the rose tinted glasses wearing people you end up in situations like this.
You have to agree on a bunch of unromantic shit upfront like budgets, shared investments, retirement planning, prenuptial contracts, college funds, how to deal with crazy relatives etc
The people who cant discuss those things will never have a functioning marriage anyway and end up playing musical chairs on Bumble at 41 not knowing where it went wrong.
Yep. A lot of people here thinking this is a man vs woman thing when plenty of people get into this issue when the aspects of a relationship that were attractive and interesting at the beginning start to clash with day to day life.
There's a video on YouTube about divorce lawyers giving marriage advice and what they say is actually very practical and thoughtful, one of the things they mention is that jobs that seem cool while your dating may not be as cool once you marry and realize how demanding they are on the other person's life, jobs like doctors or firefighters or even venture capitalists who might spend long hours in the office while their spouse has a lot of alone time or gets stuck at home with the kids and little collaboration.
It's not like men never get hit with the changing their partners bug. I've heard tons of stories of guys who like alt or goth chicks but start to date them and get embarrassed and suddenly want them to remove the piercings. Like honey, you were into it before.
Why the fuck are people getting married without knowing how their partners occupation affects their schedule?
I have no clue, I don't understand how people marry in less than a year, I'd need at least two to feel secure.
However take into account that things can change unexpectedly, having children puts your schedule in disarray for a time. Owning property you don't know how to handle yet like a big house or having more than one vehicle. Promotions and changing jobs; like here with golf, maybe you marry a regular college athlete who's doing well but get a boost, more sponsorships, more tournaments and they suddenly get a lot more busy.
Honeymoon phrase
Honeymoon phase plus it's before kids usually. I mean in this case he is worth about $200 million. If he never worked another day in his life he would bring home around $15 mil a year. It isn't like he is a struggling pro that needs to work.
Itās having kids that changes things. Unless you have a really strong, mature, and healthy relationship, itās almost impossible to not let the stress get to you and feel like your partner could do āmoreā to make your suddenly difficult life easier. Especially since you obviously canāt blame the kids, most people donāt have the intestinal fortitude to look within to change their lives, hence blame your partner and get divorcedĀ
Do you have a link of the YouTube video pls?
Used to be a musician. I have seen that career decimate marriages when a partner can't say no to handing out favors that are never returned and last minute gigs that only pay 50 bucks.
I think this way of dudes who say they want "baddies" and then get mad when their gf is a baddie like sir
Honestly why do dudes who are wealthy doing a job / hobby they love. Like you're already married to the thing. Don't get married twice!!
And everyone is disappointed.
They didn't get divorced, they stayed together
Nobody should be marrying anyone they hope will change. All of that should be addressed before the proposal, even.
It depends how you mean. Nobody stays static their entire life. You should expect your partner to change, but itāll be in random ways you donāt expect, outside of your control.
Yes but if there are ways that you would LIKE your partner to change, that needs to be addressed before marriage.
Probably counting on the divorce to collect money then go to find another man while he pays for it.
Exactly lived through this 2 times
Couples do that all the time.
"Hey, you know that thing I already knew about you before we got married? Change it or else!"

Itās fine. She gets half his money and freedom from him now. She won!
more of people who only married because they liked one part of their personality or certain trait they have, then ignores the rest until it eventually becomes a deal breaker despite being there from the start
Thats a great way to waste your partner and your own time. Very selfish to do that.
You can rush a marriage but you can't rush a divorce or even annulment
The stereotype is that women get into a relationship hoping their partner will change over time; men get into a relationship hoping their partner wonāt change at all
I really think itās jealousy in most cases. Men who are successful their careers, tend to really love their jobs and dedicate a lot of time and take a lot of pride in it. Your wife sees you leaving all the time And being happy with your life while sheās miserable at home with the kids all day. They donāt wanna blame the kids because that would make them a bad mom, They donāt wanna blame themselves, Because that would open up a Pandoraās box Analyzing all of their choices and views on life and maybe realizing that huh, Love my kids, but Iām not that thrilled about being a stay at home mom I should really find something Iām passionate about.Ā But itās just much easier to say that itās my husbandās fault because he spends too much time out And not enough time focusing on making my life better
"Couples"
She might have seen that coming.
Was kinda weird how people kept yelling Fore! At her at the wedding
Turns out it takes a lot of time to stay competitive, who knew?
The grass is greener on the other side, right?
The green is grassier on the other side.
Sounds roughĀ
Bunker? I barely knew her!
It's a (sand) trap!
What a putt down
That's a fairway to look at it.
The grass has a hole in the ground on the other side. And I must put a ball in it. -Rory McIlroy probably
he's a golfer. what is he supposed to do?
Something similar happened to me.
I was working one of those crazy job with rotating schedule, so I would work one day in the morning, one day in the afternoon, one day in the evening, one day at night, then a day off. Weekdays or weekends made no difference.
It was hard but the money was good.
Met my gf, we got married. She complained all the time about my schedule and how I was working weekends, and why didn't I have a "normal" job Mon-Fri 9-5.
So I quit my job and got a "normal" job Mon-Fri 9-5.
She quit her job and she got a job where she would travel a lot, often overnight and often on weekends. LOL FML.
I ended up filing for divorce, not because of the job thing, which was just a reflection of the patterns in our marriage, but because we were constantly fighting and I found myself in a sexless marriage (the sex was wild AF when we were dating).
I was never married but entered a long term relationship when I was working a LOT of hours and making a LOT of money, but I only had to work 8-9 months out of the year. I basically took irregular 2-3 week vacations every 2 months or so.
She wasn't happy with the hours so I got transferred to a spot where I only had to work 40-50 hours, but had to work the whole year to make anywhere close to the same amount of money. Had weekends off, maybe a 2 week vacation per year and the weekly paychecks were half the size.
Of course that wasn't ideal either. She wanted the big paychecks AND the 4-5 vacations per year. She also liked to keep spending money like I was still bringing home the big checks.
I sat her down for a serious adult conversation and told her we can have it one way or the other, but we can't have it both ways...She left me three weeks later. Lol. I wasn't even upset by that point. Went right back to my long hours and multiple vacations like I had been doing for a decade before we ever met.
Nightmare scenario for me, probably why I will take years to get married if I ever do
Her: "Where are you? Are you golfing again?"
Him: "Honey, it's The Open Championship!!!"
āYou knew this about meā - every married man ever
The divorce is off. Theyāre still together. This meme is 2 months old.
So- she wanted the money, but did not understand where it came from . . .
I was going to say it's Karma for ditching Wozniaki at the altar.
Now I see he has called off the divorce & the couple are supposedly back together again.
More like "Your golfing hasn't been worth sht lately man what the fck"
Which, like, aight wife chill you're supposed to love him for himself
Did the divorce go thru?
I was a soldier when I met my 1st wife she knew this where I lived on base etc. pushed to get married then hated everything about me being in the forces š¤£ women are weird
Just like a woman who is into having a guy with an above average body, but then bitch's that he spends to much time at the gym! There is only on thing you can have and eat it to and that is between a woman's legs!
It's very normal for wives to complain about their husbands working too much.Ā
that, and fucking that reporter
Crazy to think maybe real life might be more complicated than a 2 line meme.
My advice stop scrolling and go get some life experience
Also in real life they reconciled and never got divorced. So Rory McElroyās ex-wife never existed.
Woman married PROFESSIONAL golfer. Doesnāt like his job. Seriously, this is the idiocy that has to be brought to my attention.
One, you have zero context other than social media about what's going on. This is like getting your news from Facebook.
And two, this is basically saying a woman is upset her husband works too much of the time. We have zero details, but regardless of job, if someone is gone 80% or something, I might get upset too. We don't know what the issue is. But it's definitely not as stupid as you or the post is making it out to be.
You're falling for misogyntisc crap and eating it up. Why do you enjoy that content?
Shh donāt anger the crowd if misogynists
These comments are unfairly harsh. Itās normal and expected to spend time with your family, being a workaholic is tough on your partner. The title implicitly mocks her, but itās a valid complaint.
The meme is also wrong as the divorce was never finalized and they have reconciled.
Yep, we don't know much about the situation other than the headline which everybody seems to be assuming is true. If it were true, I took it as "hey, I know you're a professional golfer and need to practice but that doesn't mean you disregard your duties as a husband and father."
This post is typical front page misogyny bait. She worked for the PGA and caddied for him at multiple events. She was super involved in golf until their kid was born. As soon as she took a step back to be basically the only one caring for the kid, he starts having an affair with a sports reporter. Then HE filed for divorce! Had her served the day after mother's day - when he appeared with his affair partner on TV wearing matching shirts "in honor of mother's day" and didn't even mention his wife at home taking care of their kid!
If you check the source of the quote, Erica never even said that shit. It was an anonymous third party who said that she was lonely.Ā
Holy fuck this meme is doing her dirty if that's the real story.
I can't stand men who beg for children and then cheat on their wives and abandon them because they became mothers and they're not fun or sexy anymore.
True, but it's pretty naive to marry someone that is literally the best in the entire world at something and be surprised they spend all their time practicing. Normal people with normal schedules don't become legendary professional athletes.
Yeah but we know literally nothing about this situation.Ā
Maybe when they got engaged he was practicing 60 hours a week and agreed not to practice more than that. Then they have kids and heās suddenly practicing 80 hours a week. Or committing to more tournaments than they agreed to. Ā Is that fair?
Iām not saying that happened - just that we know jack shit about their relationship and this is dumb to judge.Ā
Sheās a muppet

Yeah, men are sane and normal. A great example of male sanity is Joe DiMaggio, who beat Marilyn Monroe black and blue because she wouldn't stop being a sex symbol.
Itās like the average women married to cops and jarheads in the US. āI will love you no matter what.ā One year later: āI canāt take this anymore. Iāll take the kids, the car and the house and your retirement money in advance.ā
The literal majority of pigs beat their wives
Yeah itās totally like this and not the abuseĀ
I swear, the demands of some partners!!! My ex wanted me home all the time, but also wanted me to make more money AND thought I should go back to school so I could be more marketable. Then she wanted kids and thought that I should also do most of the cooking, cleaning, and laundry while she stares at crystals and receives messages from her spirit guides that she shares with her friends.
āļøāļøāļøāļø
I have heard this about musicians too.
My wife knew I was an alcoholic three months into our relationship. And yet here we are and I still get in trouble for wanting booze.
Reminds me of the shitty cop wife trope. Marries a cop who works all the time, gets mad he still works all the time
Out at work earning millions still not happy with him.
I think itās more when kids come along things get very difficult and itās easy for resentment to build when one parent is doing most of the child-raising, despite whatever the financial implications of the other parent being gone all the time. She obviously wasnāt able to reconcile it with how much money he was making.
So I took this completely differently. I read it as she was mad at "how he was golfing". Like he was playing really shitty and that's what she was mad about because golfers make money based on where they place in a tournament.
Woman: Makes a statement respectfully obfuscating her marriage difficulties to maintain privacy
Reddit: Lol, woman dumb
this is just stupid. she wasn't complaining about him being a golfer but about him golfing ALL THE TIME. if you don't take enough time to spend with your family, you're doing something wrong, no matter if you're a golfer, a doctor or a plumber
Plus he cheated on her.....
the fact that yall are acting like its unreasonable to want your husband to spend more tome with you says alot
He was cheating on his wife with a sports reporter. They hid the affair by doing golf Charity events. Iirc
"Golfing again Rory? That's all you do!"
"Uh it's my job"
"Oh excuses"
