Need a separation and clear devider in the tank. They do that for beta fish lol.. in this case it’s one side for the fish and the other side for the cat. I’m sure the kitty would fit. Cat’s are liquid.
has nothing to do with the cat but when i was younger and think back to having my tanks, they never cycled for more than a day or two, i dechlorinated/conditioned, went to bed, and typically got fish the next day if the water test looked okay. how did i have so much success? luck?
usually it cycles overtime when the fish are already producing waste and the bacteria in the tank starts to build up and precess that waste. always cycle your tanks for at least a month before adding any fish because some fish aren't strong enough to survive in an non-cycled tank and die shortly after.
My cat does the same thing! My fish died several months back and I just have the empty tank on the floor in the office and my cat gets in it 4 out of every 5 times he gets near it. I’ll turn around and he’ll just be loafing in it.
For serious tho- I highly recommend an albino catfish from somewhere like Petco. They clean up the ground if the tank and get along with most other fish and they’re cute little things. I had a tank with one and 4 betta females.
So ya, years ago had a fish tank sitting around (with sand bottom, no water). Put it into storage on my mom's balcony. For weeks and weeks our family cat loved going outside... Turns out she was using it as a litterbox...

Definitely this should go on r/catsareliquid subreddit.
I always see them at the Asian market and wonder if I could keep one alive as they’re quite beat up lol. (I do eat fish for the record I just see them and wonder lol)
May need a bigger tank; need room to knock castles and faux coral pieces over.
