Pisces nurse here too! I was looking for this answer lol
Getting back into town just in time to check y’all out!!
Branching off of this comment to note that the stop for the Bimini world resort is really just a casino and a gift store. The resort is more of a business event space than an “all inclusive” type of resort with restaurants/shopping (which is what I was expecting for some reason) . Beach club is where it’s at! Save the money, maybe book a cabana
I think you’re looking for an ADU as well (accessory dwelling unit). There’s an abundance of them in the Portland area. In this scenario I believe the ADU will still be owned by the regular homeowner (your family member) and you would essentially pay an agreed upon rent.
Lol I’ve actually been to this massage place!!! The name is funny but I actually really enjoyed my experience. It’s different than going to a “spa” for a massage as far as the environment goes but the price is super fair and they do a great job! It’s not much, but I like to get a massage at least 1/month so it’s nice to have a different option that helps save a few bucks.
MedSurg/telemetry unit in Washington State; days 1:4-5 and nights 1:5-6 depending on staffing. I work nights and usually end the shift with 6. Union hospital.
Was it still pretty cold from the fridge or was it room temperature? If my vanco is still cold It messes with the pumps at my hospital, so it’ll alarm over everything. I usually have to plan to pull my vanco from the fridge ahead of time and let it come to temperature in my pocket or something, otherwise I have a similar experience. As a new grad nurse I had no idea until one of the more seniored nurses gave me the tip. I still get alarms but not nearly as many!
It really depends on your location and readiness. I just graduated earlier in the month (yay!) and live in an area that (pre-COVID) was pretty saturated with nurses. I had friends in the program that started applying for jobs at the start of the term. Sometimes they received feedback to apply for a position they were more qualified for or to wait closer to their graduation date, but often they at least went through the interview process. This was cool because they said it was good practice as far as answering those behavioral questions. These were students only really interested in applying for critical care positions. Several of them got job offers (!) though they did wait a long time after their interview to hear back (they were applying and interviewing in September/october and received a formal offer closer to our grad date).
I, and a number of other classmates, opted to wait a bit. I still don’t really know what I want to do and with COVID affecting our clinical time, I don’t have a lot of experience throughout the different areas in the hospital so I’m not really looking for a specific unit yet. Most of us waited to apply closer to graduation. I applied the day before I graduated, had an interview the following Monday and a job offer by the end of the week. Friends that applied and interviewed literally on the same day as me also got offers in a similar time frame.
I write this to say: feel free to apply early, but don’t feel rushed! There are things you can do to prep for the process while you’re in school — update your resume, format a cover letter or two, write a clinical narrative, start gathering references and notify them, practice those nursing interview questions. I was lucky enough that my program built a section into our curriculum that made us prep all that stuff to practice. I used feedback from instructors to fine tune what I ended up turning in. But as someone who has never applied for a job in nursing before it took me a minute to get my stuff together and to feel ready for the interview portion.
I won’t say anything is “easy-picking” because there is a baseline of work you’ll need to put in. That being said, We all know there is a staffing shortage throughout all of our healthcare system and I know that my area (which has A LOT of nursing schools) reduced their student capacity during COVID due to lack of funding and hard-to-find clinical placements. If you’re prepared you’ll likely get an offer whenever you apply granted things don’t drastically change between now and your grad date. Best of luck! The future is bright!!!
I’m wrapping up my final term and I’ve really enjoyed it! I actually just submitted a paper pretty close to the deadline which was stressful, and all my previous terms were packed with those struggles and feelings. Plus all the anxieties around clinical! Being near the end of it though, I see a lot of growth in myself. and I’m way smarter and more capable than I ever thought I was beforehand! I’ve made some really close friends and learned just enough that my Exit HESI predictor went well — so that’s also rad!
That being said, there are some in my cohort that are unhappy with the program and its inability to find placements (for unvaxxed students). But I think with a lot of things you get what you put into it.
I’m sure your enthusiasm will wane a bit while you navigate new content and study habits, but soon enough there’s a point where you can kind of see it working out. Best of luck to you! 🤗
We just committed to a similar blue with crisp white trim and I really like the classic look of it. Your home is beautiful and I can see the other option of the white w/brown being just as nice given the other comment!
Something to consider might be how much sunlight is hitting your home. We almost went with a white option but our house faces S/SW and the white we were looking at came off too bright for how much light it was getting. Keep us updated on your choice and final pic!
When I was living off of Andersen & 78th back in 2015/2016 my car was constantly getting broken into. The first person busted my driver’s side lock and it was downhill from there. It definitely sucks when your car is constantly getting rummaged through (even with nothing inside), but it’s not a new thing. I feel like there has always been a lot of property crime in the Vancouver/Portland area? That’s mostly anecdotal on my part though
Does it happen to be electric? A friend had his stolen out of his car several months ago when he was moving gear, i'll have him reach out!
We started in March/April with a maximum budget of $450k
We were aggressively putting in offers but were constantly being beat out by investors w/ all-cash or people willing to skip inspections/repairs/appraisals. It's going to be our first home, so we weren't comfortable purchasing under those kinds of conditions even when the sellers gave us the opportunity to adjust our offers to remove them.
BUT We finally got under contract a couple of weeks ago and are expected to close in <3weeks if things continue to go smoothly! We're probably paying a more inflated cost given the current market, but we made sure not to compromise on our estimated monthly costs and we're just happy to be on this side of the process.
For anyone trying to a buy a home right now, especially first-time home-buyers, I feel for you. The process is really hard and starts to feel very defeating when you’re constantly giving it your all. This is all anecdotal, but I do think things are softening a little bit. I’ve been seeing a few more price drops as of recent (compared to the 2 I saw for ALL of May and June).
@sassysouks_pdx is a great option for anyone in the St. John’s/Portsmouth neighborhood! They have $5 delivery to the area and I’ve only had positive experiences They make their meatballs in house and they’re so good!!
30F popping in! Love the positivity in this thread. If you start a chat can I join too? Always down for more like-minded girlfriends!
Thanks for pointing this out! I've since moved, but still love checking in on this sub. I noticed posts from r/vancouverwa weren't popping up in my feed as frequently and just thought engagement kind of dropped. This mod seems problematic...
Just wrapping up my first year of a 2-year ADN program; I turn 30 in February!
I didn’t realize amplifiers were a thing! What kind do you use?
Woah. I really feel like I needed to hear this...especially the last part.

Love this post! if you live in St. Johns, Stormbreaker had some flyers out about beer deliveries in the neighborhood. Additionally, Leisure started doing growler fills yesterday.
Our community was hit hard with a lot business closures last year and earlier this year and I hope those who are able to spend money on beer/wine at this time will consider buying from them vs our neighborhood Freddy's/Safeway for now.
Oo I see. I misunderstood when you mentioned it puts you to sleep
Consider trying low doses of melatonin. I used to take benedryl to help with sleep because it was in my medicine cabinet. Eventually made the switch and I like it a lot better. It’s just as affordable and I don’t wake up with that hazy feeling that benedryl gives me. It may take a minute to find what dose works best for you, but I usually buy the 5mg tabs and break them in half (so ~2.5mg on nights I need a sleep aid)
The portions are smaller — think yakitori or tapas plates. It’s a really fun place if you like to try a bunch of stuff since everything is meant to mix and match!
Fancy dinner spot?
