My cars have been broken into a total of 4 times in 3 weeks. At this point they are breaking in and trashing my cars for what seems like just to be a dick as they took anything of value the first time. Was the town always like this and it finally moved toward the area I live in or is this a recent development?

When I was living off of Andersen & 78th back in 2015/2016 my car was constantly getting broken into. The first person busted my driver’s side lock and it was downhill from there. It definitely sucks when your car is constantly getting rummaged through (even with nothing inside), but it’s not a new thing. I feel like there has always been a lot of property crime in the Vancouver/Portland area? That’s mostly anecdotal on my part though
From Chicago, which everyone thinks is so dangerous. It's not, save certain areas of the city. That said, this area does seem to have an excessive amount of property crime.
