People can drive this car without leaving their wheelchairs.
SCIENCE & TECHI guess it would have a limited top speed. If you look at the size of the wheels, the thickness of the A pillar and the inexistent crumple zone, I'd say not faster than a golf cart. I think regular wheelchairs could be used as long as there is a redundant locking system, like the wheelchair brakes + a wheel chock or a belt. Or at least that's how I'd design it.
That would make more sense to me. I was picturing like a Smart Car type vehicle that can travel at roadway speeds.
There's a lady with a wheelchair round where I live who does deliveroo and ubereats deliveries on a specially designed motorbike/trike that's basically this kinda thing...
Ah should have read your comment, before I wrote mine. But the limited speed doesn't matter if someone crashes into you with higher speed and a sturdier car
What do you think happens to motorcycles or electric scooters? And they still are a thing. Also, being more visible is always a plus. And the limited speed would restrict the uses for the vehicle to city centers and large campi, where the traffic speed is already reduced.
People in wheelchairs already get around in vehicles that allow them to use whatever wheelchair they happen to have. They even have vehicle conversions that allow the driver to use a wheelchair.
I don't know a lot about cars, but it looks like it has next to no crush-collapsible zones? I don't know, it seems so flimsy

I think it's just a fully enclosed mobility device, I don't see how it be can classified as a car legally.
In a collision, with the lack of a front crumple zone, they'd probably lose the use of their legs.
but I have so many questions.
Right? And they spent half the video on the fact that it has a door. Yeah, the door closes, wow.
That car doesn't look very safe incase of a collision.
Late to the party, were you also wondering if people ever needed to like buy things larger than a loaf of bread
Yeah it raises some questions about safety for me too lol. Like does te chair latch onto anything? I guess bo seat belt? But then I think these don't go very fast they're basically mobility scooters, not cars
Well they already would've lost the ability to move their legs most likely so no harm no foul for that scenario đ
When you crash, you end up in a wheelchair.
you can't walk it off
R/technicallytrue
So someone crashes their car into her car. She exits and blames the other driver for putting her in a wheelchair.
again.
The car is just a wheelchair for a wheelchair.
Very good idea but I see it often blocked by parked cars.
who blocks the trunk of another car? if anything the rear door would make regular spaces more accessible for wheelchair users.
Parallel parking is no option.
This car is probably small enough to fit sideways with no problem.
Also a wheelchair user is probably gonna use a disabled parking spot, which are usually larger then the usual spot
Wouldnât they park facing the back to the sidewalk in that case mostly?
Are people in wheel chairs gonna be parking on the side of the street anyways?? You know... considering the curb in most places.
How is top comment such a dumb one? This can't be blocked by other cars any more or less than a standard car. Most handicap capable vehicles are actually much easier blocked as they need a second space on the side.
Perfect excuse to redesign handicap parking spaces
They still get to use a handicap space
Where do you put your groceries?
obviously people in wheelchairs donât get groceries /s
Or your friends.
Or do people in wheelchairs not have groceries or friends?
That's so dope! This is definitely a great idea
Available through your insurance for the low price of 1 million dollars!
How does accelerating/braking work if they canât use their feet? (I guess with the hands but Iâm curious for details)
They have two levers/pads that they press with their fingers. It requires a special driving license. A friend, who is now paralyzed, had to obtain it after his incident. On normal cars, you have to retrofit them.
They already have real car conversions that work quite well, and you can take passengers and cargo.
They work well but will never be ideal since the primary focus is average people.
I doubt a glorified golf cart that can't even reach normal city speeds(looks like it's limited to 25 MPH) is any better.
This isn't ideal either, as there is now way to transport groceries or other items with you.
Just put the bag of oranges on your lap.
Thereâs nothing average about being seen in public in this contraption. Iâll take the minivan, thanks.
In a rear end collision they are just stuck there
Why not break one of the extra large side windows?
in a collision they're dead let's be honest
Cool concept but car looks so weird.
Where can you put things in it for storage?

You could easily break your neck or back.
Seriously, anything that makes it easier and gives more freedom and mobility is a good thing!
And break your legs.
Thatâs awesome
Now theyâre stuck in the wheelchair and can never have the chance to walk around a bit, and stretch their legs?
Terrible idea /s
THAT'S THE F I WAS THINKING!
That's fucking awesome
Just like the Isetta's gotta be careful that there's only one way out in case of an accident.
That car looks flimsy. At least they are already in a wheel chair.
When you get hit by an F-250 they just put you back in the wheelchair.
It's like a wheelchair exoskeleton
It's like a wheelchair exoskeleton
Great idea, but itâs also a death trap.
Oh how lucky I am. I found an empty parking sp... FUCK. God damn Kangaru car
This is an awesome idea and it could probably work in some parts of the world. The USA is full of oversized massive vehicles that make driving smaller cars very unsafe. Even a small wreck could potentially kill or do terrible damage to an already disabled person.
For context, Im disabled and was in a wheelchair for 3 years. A lot of ppl will drive more aggressively in order to not be passed by someone with a handicap placard on their car. Itâs crazy and makes no sense.
âPeople can be buried in this coffin without leaving their car or wheelchair.â đ
Looks like death trap. If theyâre not careful, theyâll end up in a wheelâŠ.oh.
It's an interesting idea but it's totally impractical.
It only fits one person.
There's no room anywhere for cargo.
It couldn't be parallel parked anywhere.
I think they went broke, seems the domain is for sale and all the content is about 10 years old. Shame, i think mobility is an important factor for differently abled peeps.
I sure hope it locks the wheelchair down and has safety belts so the driver isnât yeeted right through the windshield in an accident

Does your city not have motorcycles?
You'll never get a wheelchair to stay on one of those...
i need this thing
How much does this cost?
They have mini palfingers in the back of pickups too to crane the wheelchair in
Morty, wait! They love the slow ramp!
it's a wheel-car!... mind blown
But who do they get a driver's license without having driven a car in drivers school?
Ejecto Seato!
I thought u canât use your legs
Really useful idea
What about motorized wheelchairs?
Personally I'd much prefer a converted Berlingo.
Can it also hold a few bags of groceries?
Get into a wreck with that and more then just your legs won't work anymore
but what if you have a family though, it's not even 1 extra space in there.
SingleLifeForeverYo.
I doubt the wheelchair is as safe as a car seat in case of a road accident
Would be great if smaller cars like this were all that was available and only for the old/ physically impaired. Weâd have much much less obesity in America if ppl walked and cycled everywhere
Looks great but the car looking so annoyed gets me.
Hopefully they don't get rear ended and need quick medical attention.
It is stupid that there are no side doors. If you park in line the car behind you will surely not leave enough space for the ramp (plus the wheelchair). It needs side doors.
You just can't have friends, or trunk space lol.
There is a boat that this car can drive on that can be steered from her wheelchair. There is also an airplane that the boat can go on that she can fly from her wheelchair. There is also a rocket ship that the plan can land in that she can then blast off into space from the comfort of her wheelchair. Then there is a time machine built by ancient aliens that her rocket ship can attach to where she can then travel to any point in time all from just sitting in her wheelchair. Amazing.
Thatâs a great idea, but why did they use wheelchair wheels for the car too?
Imagine this in an accident. That person inthere is in a meat press
I can already see a bunch of lazyasses using this while being completely not handicapped.
This seems so unsafe and slow. A guy near me has a 911 and I saw him lift himself into each on his own from a wheelchair. I would rather do that
One accident will definitely change this
The steering is ridiculous
And If they wanted more cargo, they can drive inside a bigger SUV style. Then they drive that SUV into a truck in their garage if they wanted more space. They also have a helicopter attachment. or a Voltron depending of occasion.
They could at least try to make it not look ridiculous for people that already might have like a anxiety about being in public. Maybe somewhat safe too. I'm disabled and I try damn hard to hide it as best as I can. I qualify for a free disabled plates but I pay for normal ones because I don't want the wheelchair on my license plate. đ€·đ»ââïž
Wait until you get rear ended
futurevegetable
Whiplash looks like a serious possibility. Thatâs dangerous as fuck :(
Mobility is great, but that thing can easly became a trap, isn't it?
Electric vehicles are garbage and shite
Autobots transform and roll out
Now that, is good tech
Where do you carry anything or anyone??
It's a great idea but the design is awful
How would the gas and brake pedals work?
Damn, we finally invented hyperpods.
It's like the car of the flinstones family
Where do they put their groceries???
100% this will be shot at when/if it becomes popularized
Aha, this is what I saw driving around the parking lot yesterday. I just thought it was an inconveniently tiny car
Doesnât seem like it would fair well in a collision. Great way to end up in a wheel chair.
Shitty idea.
- What happens in case of an accident where a car rear ends it?
- What happened to the seat safety and neck protection?
- Without the side doors, it's more like a driving coffin.
She's entering her part of the Megazord
Looks like Dr Evils car
Now imagine this car getting into an accident and you have your answer as to why they aren't popular
How do you press the pedals ????
Add a frunk and itâs good.
What if you're parked uphill? Wouldn't that make it harder to get in?
Yeah, but be caught alice driving this thing? X3
Yellow car's face:
đ
so a crash guarantees death..
Wheelchair user here. While this looks nifty at first glance, this looks less useful than an electric Wheelchair in practicality. It has no passenger space, it has no cargo space, it has no seat in it so you would be the only person who could move it safely. It looks like safety could easily be compromised if your Wheelchair has a weak point. There are a huge host of issues that would scare me away from this thing.
Awsome..but looks like a rolling outhouse...come on, they can design a better body style
"The Kenguru only clocks about 25 mph and has a 60 mile range, but speed and distance aren't really the main pointâinclusivity is."
Unless you want to be included anywhere you would actually want to take a car.
Ima just throw a bean bag chair in there and call it a day
You'll most likely die if you crash
I can't stop laughing and I don't even know why đ€Łđ€Ł
Is this designed for average wheelchair users of just hot woman?
Good job no one in a wheelchair needs shopping ever /s cos it has negative cargo space.
No head rest or any other crash safety? NHTSA triggered negative 5 stars.
The manufacturer didnât add passenger seats, did they assume disabled people donât have friends and family?
What did they have to go to the bathroom?
How Bout public transit THAT DOESN'T SUCK FOR DISABLED PEOPLE.
Ironically, if an able body drives it, they end up in a wheelchair eventually.
I want that car and Iâm not even in a wheelchair. Itâs a great design
though i can walk - ill love for a small single/ 2 seat car for local city traveling short distances to the super market small chores and with a small car can find parallel parking easier than a bigger 4 seat car - maybe the gas efficiency is also better
Itâs like a fucking mech suit for the wheel chair
The Flintstones: Full Circle
How does it accelerate and brake? Are there buttons or something instead of pedals?
So awesome!
What happens if you get into a car accident? You will either, still be paralyzedâŠlol or die and then you can be buried right in the ground with the car being like a casket.
drivable hangar
Now we let the disabled car geek turbocharge this
Thatâs pretty cool!
Okay, crazy idea: first one in parks horizontally if possible, then a second one can share the space
Get that nice neck snap back action when they crash like the old school bench seats.
If this thing canât move as fast as a car which it looks like it canât, I donât see any practical use for it. Is this not just a motorized wheelchair with extra steps, extra space and extra cost? The only bonus I see is it has a roof and maaaybe air conditioning but I wonât hold my breath on the air conditioning.
I mean they don't need that crumple zone anymore, right? And driving a clown car for sure is not yet another stigma when you're already disabled.
Driving that in the night must be very pleasant.
I havenât seen so many disabled white women out in the wild.
And if you wreck it you wonât have to worry about needing a wheelchair anymore.
Interesting idea but my mind imagine how if there is speedbump
Looks like a product design to generate hype for investment money.
Cool concept but it is a wheelchair scooter. The markets is tiny.
That's fucking class.
No space for groceries.
This thing would fit perfectly in the blindspots of a Ford F-150, with how big vehicles are getting nowadays being in something so small would terrify me
If only wheelchair user can go everywhere with public transport that would be great
Shame it's electric!
Great idea !!
Is this a steering... stick? Wtf?
That's great! But why is it so fucking ugly?
I'd prefer a car that doesn't require a wheelchair. That's quite as sacrifice for fuel efficiency.
I hope this has a roll cage made of adamantium, coz of they get into an accident there's not a good chance of them getting out by themselves.
i mean... they miss a very important point... there is practically no place to store anything in there.
so instead of giving people in wheelchairs something they could really need, they give them a toy.
This is cute but as impractical as it gets. How would a person use it if they don't have a wheelchair? Where do the passengers or the groceries go?
omg - i love this so much!
Ah, bike handle bars for steering, something all people in wheelchairs have great experience with.
So you get the perk of being able to easily get your wheelchair in a car that has none of the other perks of a car?
Super cool until i thought âhuh, kinda like a wheel chair for your wheel chairâ
One step into achieving vehicles that can combine into a giant robot. Like the megazord in power rangers.
Okay they have my attention, but can someone put their groceries or briefcase in there
Police stops you and signals you to roll your window. You don't have a rolling window so you get shot.
Those cars are dangerous, if they got in a wreck they could end up par... oh wait nevermind.
And they can be turned into a fine red mist just as easily as if they werenât in a carđ„°
Looks like Dr. Jumba from Lilo and Stitch
Why does it not have a normal sterling wheel?
Is there a bigger car the smol car containing the wheelchair can go in ?
how do you drive it tho?
I would definitely want a secure upper body harness
what about your groceries??? amazon packages?? đ
Are they legal to use in the US? (Most Kei vehicles are not here. Not enough safety features)
The wheelchair is like their seat in the car. It's not a bad design. It looks good as long as they have some kind of protection if they had a crash.Â
They would get bulldozed by SUVs in freedom land
If they get into a crash in this thing they won't even need a wheelchair ever again. Nor a car. A house, anything really.
get rear ended and just die if the car catches fire.
Is there a special wheel chair that goes with that car? What happens in the event of a collision?
I love the idea of mobility, but I have so many questions.
