My house faces a set of train tracks with a crossing right in front of it. I notice a car every once in a while park in front of my house and walk over to the tracks. Turn to find out they have been placing fresh cuts of Steak and high quality meat near the crossing.

Never understood or how to even ask about it but I think it's similar. On the positive, we have a single small stray black cat that humbly accepts the offerings that are twice it's size.

It's a peace offering for the C.H.U.D

Idk but if dark souls has thought me anything, I say turn around and go the other way.

In Vodun, Papa Legba is the guard at the crossroads who act as an intermediary between humanity and God. People dedicate altars in their homes to him, amongst others deities. But it is also customary to leave rum, candy, fruit and money at the crossroads as an offering to request in return for Papa Legba to clear the crossroads for us (remove known and unknown obstacles that are holding us back).

Same concept of placing change at the entrance of a cemetery when leaving, as an offering and show of respect. For those who don’t practice this type of spirituality, these would be consider a superstitions.

I use to be in a bunch of forums about stuff like this. Not saying I believe, just giving context, even though some of these pics are ridiculous. Offerings are really common among the African diaspora and the American slavery born system of Hoodoo.

It’s an offering to one of the gods of the crossroads. Probably don’t mess with it.

I’m thinking perhaps someone is trying to administer a hex, offering sacrifice, or it’s a method of sending a type of message amongst organized crime syndicates.

If you find an alternate location in the pattern somehow, don’t go alone or at night, and after don’t go straight home.

And don’t be suspicious.

All very common offerings for all kinds of stuff. But especially for the dead. If it's along footpaths or especially crossroads, it's basically guaranteed that this is an offering to the dead. Likely someone grieving who practices some sort of spiritual or neopagan belief.
