Hi. An article sounds great! Thanks. So you have spent some time there? Where did you stay? I don’t mind some other people as long as it’s not too overcrowded. Going mid June so hopefully not height of the season.

Hi. Yeah, I considered it. It looked like more resort than village. Do you know what it is like?

(beach) village in Corfu

Hi there. I’ll be going to Corfu in a few weeks and I’m trying to decide where to stay. I’m not sure if I’m fully staying in a resort type area. I’m looking for a small town / village area with self catering accommodation. Ideally there’d be a beach within walking distance. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I’ve heard that Pelekas might suit my needs

Hi. Thanks for the reply. That is actually exactly the kind of thing I’m looking for. Self catering, nothing fancy but not run down. What is Agios Georgios Pagon like? Is it more resort or town like?

Hi there. I’m considering staying in Agios Georgios Pagon. What was the place you stayed at?

Hi. I don't understand the message about a duplicate. Could you help?

Hi there. I'd appreciate some advice on some slippy Meermin boots. I got a couple of pairs of Meermin boots 18 months ago or so, and both of their soles are very slippy when walking on wet smooth surfaces. For example, my foot will often give out completely if I stepping on a manhole cover. Wet smooth stone has led to actually losing my balance. Is this normal? I've never had this with any other shoes, trainers or boots. What can I do to remedy this?

Where to get good quality "aftermarket" prescription sunglass lenses in UK/EU?Advice/Opinions/Discussion

Hey there. I'm planning to get some moderately priced sunglasses, and would like to put prescription lenses in them. Anyone have experience doing this? Either with high-street optician (big chain or independent) or online? I can see plenty of online companies offering reglazing, but not sure about the quality of the lenses, in particular the tint. Are Zeiss/Hoya tinted lenses good?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Frame damage from lens swap
Frame damage from lense swap

A bit of a beginner question most likely, how many times can you swap lenses from an acetate frame before the frame starts to get damaged? I would guess that multiple reglazings would eventually take a toll on the frame, the question is when that would happen? This is assuming the lens swapping is done by an optician, who knows what they are doing. Any advice or feedback would be much appreciated.

Ah, I see. I guess I'm wondering what factors which decide whether a particular crank will work, e.g. would the Shimano Alivio T4060 in 44-32-22 configuration work equally well?

I didn't think Trek would sell a bike which didn't work, but I didn't know if they had to do anything in particular to make it so.

Ah OK, thanks for the tip. I'll keep that in mind. Agree that it does sound like this particular setup will work without any particular or extra mechanics.

Hi. It's penultimate post which put some doubt in my mind. This thread, https://bicycles.stackexchange.com/questions/82457/front-derailleur-road-triple-on-mtb-crankset, discusses the same topic, and there the opinion is that the shifting is "acceptable" in some cases, and does not work in others.

Using road FD with MTB crankset help
Using road FD with MTB crankset help

Hi. I'm in the process of building an old 90s Peugeot steel frame into a tourer/hilly commuter. I'd like to use a triple crankset with STI shifters. I've got a hold of a Shimano Sora ST-R3030-L triple shifter, and I'm now trying to work out what FM I can fit. Something like the Trek 520 setup, https://www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/bikes/bikepacking-touring-bikes/520/520/p/24000/?colorCode=red, would be great. However this setup mixes a road FD with a 45mm chainline with a MTB 50mm chainline crank. Does that work? I've done some research, and the opinions seem to be mixed. For example, this thread: https://www.mtbr.com/threads/trek-520-sora-shifters-derailleur-with-alivio-crankset.1086292/. How does Trek make it work? Do I need to take anything special into consideration during my build?

Ah cool, thanks. That's good to know! Yeah, I'd definitely be looking into getting some nicer handlebars as well. Not sure what kind of gearing I'd looking into, but the current set is quite limited.

Ah thanks, important point! I'm not against changing wheels. Some lighter, modern wheels would be quite nice. There are a fair amount of hills where I am, so some wider gears would be quite nice.

I think the frame is all good, but components definitely need swapping out :)

I don't see any external rust, or bubbling. There are however several paints dints/scratches, which would need to be sorted I guess. (see edited post for photos).

In terms of parts, I'm planning to change most things, not just tyres+racks. Definitely don't have tools, but I see this as an learning exercise/experience, so happy to accumulate tools/experience as things progress.

Ah, good idea, thanks.

Nice looking bike :)

Peugeot Country 100 (1996) conversion advice
Peugeot Country 100 (1996) conversion advice

Hi there. I have an old Peugeot Country 100 bike, it looks like it dates to around 1996 from two catalogues (below).

http://bikeboompeugeot.com/Brochures%20UK/Peugeot%201996%20UK%20Brochure/Peugeot%201996%20UK%20Brochure%20Bikes%20Panel%20C.jpg

http://bikeboompeugeot.com/Brochures%20France/Peugeot%201996%20France%20Brochure/Peugeot%201996%20France%20Brochure%20Pg41.jpg

I'm thinking of making it my "project bike", and completely re-building it. Thinking of making it a winter commuter/tourer bike, i.e. wide tyres, racks, mud-guards.

Would you say that the frame is worth the effort? I find it hard to gauge if it's an old "quality" frame, or just an old frame that is not worth spending money building around it.

Many thanks for your help!

edit: I think it's more first catalogue than second actually. Here are some photos of the frame (paint chips, scratches, etc.): https://imgur.com/a/Pzrzx8a
