What do you do if you have all the ship modules and stratagems? Is there a way to give stuff away? Is there any benefit to restarting?
I do this, I'll run lvl1_4 games looking for players at or less than 10, jump and help them out with some basic yada yada. I truly enjoy it, and feel like I'm giving back a little.
Gave on a blitzed and guard dog. He had a great time. 0ne of the others asked if he should shoot the drone following. Was a good dive that day
fellow sample goblin here, determined to snatch up whatever I can for lower level players.
Sample Goblin needs to be an achievement. But, same. I learned a lot from experienced players, now I'm paying it forward. Sometimes the lesson is losing, sometimes the lesson is communicating, sometimes the lesson is whatdoesthisgundoyoweeohthathurt.
Dropped into the last minutes of a failing Lvl8 bot mission with 0 respawns once.
Another guy was gunning for the last objective and just barely managed to get it before the emergency timer kicked in.
I crawled to extract with my scout armor, picking up two lost sample vials on the way. Ended up being 70 in total. One of my most memorable games ever.
Same, and it seems like there's a 50/50 chance I'll get kicked at the end. Yeah I'm not doing the objectives because I'm scouring the map to get you samples and super credits. Although to be fair, I don't typically announce I'm doing that and people that don't know would misunderstand.
Sammmme. Or just kind of mess around with new load outs etc.
yes! With the new balance patch it's worth revisiting those tools we ignored. For example, I forgot / learned the airburst rocket closes a small nest in seconds. And the smoke actually works in keeping bugs away. Still stuff to do!
Same. I figure just because I got mine doesn’t mean I can’t help others get theirs
That was going to be my suggestion, too
You randomize everything!
😂 you can change the settings so you only get one support weapon or backpack
where's the fun in that!? trips over all the guns
Sounds fun in theory but I don't think having duplicate support weapons or backpacks fun - so unless there's a setting for that?
there is indeed a setting to change both
This randomizer can and will be complete cancer... I love it
My friends and I just started doing this with dice. Can’t wait to use this.
My favourite thing about this game is that none of the random builds I’ve gotten have been bad, I’ve played very similar ones
Love this
You dive again. And again. And again, and again.
Exactly
I play for the MOs now
You play the game because you enjoy the core gameplay loop and working with the community to do the MO.
Or do you only play game to unlock the next shiny thing?
I would argue the next shiny thing can be loads of fun.
But thinking HD is one of those games is absurd. Kinda silly thinking otherwise once you have played for a little bit let alone once you've unlocked everything.
I love that this game has exposed so many of the "I need something to do" crowd to a game that's great to play, simply for enjoyment. Weird how so many of us have been programmed to grind out gear (or whatever)
Well it’s kind of what we’re all used to right? A lot of games having battlepasses and stuff like that basically means you always have something to look forward to, even when the game feels like a grind it gives you a reason to play. Not that HD2 isn’t fun at its core tho. I have everything I want unlocked and still play because I find it fun
I play a game for the core content. Not the battlepass. And i think the focus a lot of people put on content drops and battle passes and blah blah is the tiktok of moderngaming
Yeah I do the same. My point is the industry is conditioning gamers to think this way
Stop being conditioned, and just play the game for the game. Or just find another game to unlock new stuff for the sake of unlocking.
The AAA industry has been teaching people to play like this for a few years, yes. But it's not always been that way. A lot of old multiplayer games had no progression at all. People just played because the game was fun.
Yeah I agree. I’m in my 30s so I know exactly what you’re talking about. I’m normally not a fan of battlepasses because I think if you buy a game you should have access to all the free content that comes after and shouldn’t be able to miss it because it’s timed. It was very refreshing to see how HD2 has done their war bonds.
This is so embarrassingly true of the industry as a whole, not just AAA. Just look at the mobile games industry. It's the same model, but so much worse.
Players often whinge about not being able to unlock all content without paying a large sum of extra money, but what we see less of (because in these kinds of games you have to be a whale to achieve it) is how players will also whinge about having achieved everything in a game.
Honestly, I wish more games would follow the example of Helldivers 2 with their warbonds.
Fucking right?!?
Imagine if this had been the norm back with Counter-Strike originally came out?! No unlocks, no skins, no unlockable anything. The whole game is laid out before you from the drop.
Definitely what we've all had shoved down our throats. Gaming has always been about getting a dopamine hit but modern marketing has figured out how to keep those hits coming and I'm not sure we're better off because of it
I play a game because I enjoy the game, not because it has a stupid battle pass. If I cared about those I wouldn't still play Morrowind and Oblivion.
I always feel a thousand years old seeing posts like this. I remember when RPGs were the only games that had gear progression. Multiplayer games, we played just to continue getting better and to participate in the community (servers, in those days).
It’s somewhat terrifying to me the way we tends to see video games now. Content to be consumed then discarded. Don’t mean to pile on OP or anything or read too much into it. But I’ve seen this post like 5 times. So strange to me.
Shiny thing give brain tickle.
Like brain tickle.
Therefore shiny thing good.
No shiny thing no brain tickle. Bad
Except in this case it actually impacts gameplay. There's no more drive to obtain samples, which means no more drive to extract successfully. Which used to be really fun.
Also no point in completing optional objectives either.
Games are getting stale with just the same exact missions, enemy types, and weapons again and again. For a while, the grind helped overcome some of the staleness by adding meaning to it, but now that a lot of us are maxed out, nothing matters and the only thing left to grind is super credits, but that's not fun or a challenge. And the storyline seems to be going nowhere, so most of us don't even keep up with that either at this point.
Optional objectives are fun. Extracting like the best part of the game. The nail biting, white knuckle fight to the finish is exhilarating.
This was a big thing for me. Super rare samples were on the line, we had to win. Now, there's nothing at stake. Just spending time. Honestly, losses should affect the war progression. That failure is a win for the enemy
Bingo, I am still collecting samples for the top upgrades, but I'm 90% playing because carving through hordes of bugs and bots are just fun.
This.
I mean, you can always take a break and play something else for a lil bit. Come back refreshed and ready to have fun. Nothing wrong with that
Not only is there nothing wrong. Its required
I agree. I been playing destiny for almost a decade. Break are absolutely healthy and necessary for longevity
This is what I’m doing. Maybe diving once a week while I play through Baldurs Gate 3 with the intention of actually beating it this time lol. DA4 is coming out this year and I need my RPG slate clean for it as I’m planning on modding the last 3 games again before playing the new one. Helldivers is a game I play to detox from other games after about 400+ hours.
A lot of people just simply burn themselves out and blame the game for not doing enough when maybe they’ve done too much lol
I'll be back after enjoying this scenery for a few seconds
As long as it's no more than 2.4 seconds
No can do, as a graduate of a ministry funded superschool I actually can't count past 1
Use it! It's all upgrades to make you more effective, now you have all the tools to play the game as many and as different ways as you want! I hit cap a few weeks ago but it doesn't stop me playing the game, it's just a fun game!
Yesss. I'm about to max out (have like one more Warbond item worth 150 medals and one module left), but I've already been doing self-imposed challenges to keep things interesting.
A month ago it was no more Breaker Incendiary unless I'm on a level 9, now I'm having so much fun running MGs only as a Viper Commando. I can take either the MG-43 or HMG, and must wear a Peak Physique armor set. Any other stratagems, including backpacks are fair game. Goddamn it's so fun to mow through the hordes and feel like you're in an 80s action movie.
And always have the Predator handshake emote equipped.
It's so good, effectively playing Chicken with whoever takes you up on it. Even the name, "Test of Conviction", just perfect.
Keep playing because the game is fun.
During mid 2000 games started to give you shiny unlockables, and people started to get used to it, dopamine shots.
Look at doom 1 and 2, the unreal tournament series and counter strike 1.6, there's not much to unlock, but people still play it today because the games are fun indeed.
If you want to play to unlock stuff, go play a mobile game, they have loads of stuff to give you dopamine shots.
Damn i sound like an old man.
You join the Hammer of Morality and help out some cadets.
I've taken to joining mid-difficulty (4-6) missions with lower level players. Quick Play often drops me with a couple Admirals, even on level 4, so I scan the hexagons for a lobby that has a sub-20 Helldiver in it and then I drop in as their sidekick.
I try to exemplify good teamwork, sticking with them and using comms and pings to make the job as easy as I can make it, without showboating or gobbling up all the objectives.
If I get the highest kill score, I screwed up. If they start following me instead of leading me, I screwed up.
I shoot the enemies that threaten my VIPs, and I use sentries and barrages to simplify fights for them.
With these restrictions on my play, I think it adds challenge and requires a presence of mind that I don't always need when I'm crushing higher level missions with a squad of Hell Commanders.
It's really fun.
Now you complain on Reddit. That's the cycle.
You continue spreading democracy until the terminids and automatons are all dead and freedom has taken over the Galaxy
rememeber that time when we wiped out automatons? they just came back after 24 hours...
Now play the damn game. Why is this even a question?
Drop a few degrees of difficulty and drop mechs to let new players have some fun.
yes, the benefit is : having fun
its a game, if you play like its a job instead of having fun, you should not play it
I play because I enjoy shooting bugs and robots and I get joy from task completion.
I feel like I am sort of on auto-pilot recently. See this enemy, do this. See this objective, do this.
I keep hoping they introduce a new enemy.
then, dont play if you aint enjoying the game ?
if later they update the game, nothing stops you from coming back to check it and see if you ahve fun again
Then just take a break, no one is forcing you to keep playing. If it isn’t for you then it’s not for you
Weren't you having fun before? Just keep doing that.
Now you can start playing the game.
Go outside.
Play the game. Use what you‘ve unlocked. Mix and Match your loadout, try something unusual you‘ve not used to.
Start using all those lesser stratagems you never use.
Try weapons you don't use much! Try a loadout you think will suck! Dive, die, and dive again!
I have everything unlocked and am 150 I just hop on to check the status of the build, aka if it's a crashfest, and help people who obviously going into helldive without that skill level yet although a full party over 100 is a nice break 🤣 just fun to shoot shit if the games not being a fucking ass and constantly crashing.
Now you can play the game (like me)
Go to lower levels and help out new recruits. Give them free use of your support weapons and mechs.
There's also a lot more super credits on lower levels for farming them, or at least they're easier to find. I can sometimes get 40 in one match of level 2-4
Just play. Spreading liberty is enough incentive.
You might have a Pavlovian response to what I call “Call of Duty syndrome” you’re so used to constantly unlocking everything that when you finish, you automatically prestige. There’s still other things to unlock on the warbonds. Unless you’re done with that as well. After that the game is pretty chill, been helping newbies on the lower difficulties and the gameplay is fun enough to go on Helldive for a few rounds a day.
Go outside
"What do you mean? Now we can finally play the game."
It's a lot of fun to jump into low level games and put exosuits in their hands. Also if you can find a solid group -- you will enjoy every run so much more. Communication and teamwork are the best parts of a solid cinematic game with a wide variety of load outs. Pm me if you wanna run a few
That is a great idea.
Now you can start playing the game!
Once you have all the stuff you delete the game and play some other game 👍
Great idea
Have fun hitting 150
Now you Kill 5.
I am getting close to having all the stuff, but I keep trying different loadouts to see what works best. Kinda fun to roll in with a different kit and figure it out.
Farm super credits for future warbonds and super store items
I just like to kill the bugs……☺️☺️☺️
Join the war room at galactic war on the discord
Now u play the game. Lets go!
You either just play for the fun of it or do something else. Not that hard.
Drop lower difficulties and use guns you've never used before.
Use your tools to dispense democracy.
Do whatever you want. Play for fun. Don't play. Play something else.
Keep playing cause the game is REALLY fun OBVIOUSLY
Now the game really starts brother! 9-HELLDIVE calls for you! Get all the achievements.
I play the game because the core loop is fun
[closes helmet]
KEEP FIRING, ASSHOLES!
I am goal oriented person. I switched my goal to destroying the enemy and helping those on missions. I have more fun now! I also started trying different weapons and strats
My friends and I just started rolling dice for our Strat and weapon load outs. Definitely keeping things spicy. It Made me discover how much I like the laser cannon.
Help me unlock all the stuff
This isn't CoD lol
Depends on your reason for playing. I know plenty of people play games purely to unlock stuff, and once they have they never touch the content again, which is fine. I personally enjoy the actual gameplay quite a bit, and all the unlocks are bonus. Afaik though once you’ve unlocked everything, you’re incentives to keep playing are basically just 1) you enjoy the mission gameplay inherently or 2) you enjoy the narrative and want to help the rest of the divers with MO’s. Both of these incentives hinge on you not caring about “progression” so if that’s not your style then now’s a great time to enjoy some other games, and maybe return after some more content drops. Either way, liberty will follow you wherever you go Helldiver 🫡
I join lower level players to help them get their stuff.
Difficulty 10 is bringing a bunch of low skilled players into a helldive and getting out with 50+ samples.
Grind for Super Credits while supporting the MO!
For Super Earth!
I try to get up to 1000 super credits for the warbond, i help out my friends, i keep an eye for when they do sneak in new stuff, i do just enjoy the game play loop. I take a break and go play elden ring and come back the next war bond release. The war bonds are what i cycle around, i get new warbond - >unlock gear and get back up to 1000 super credits (normally a 2 week period) -> take a break -> come back for the war bond.
Now you help the noobs. I’m level 70 and dropped in with a level 10 on a bot mission.
Dropped him an Autocannon mech and told him to try and conserve ammo, only shoot at the big ones or crowds while I stuck with him and took care of the stragglers, called in an extra quasar cannon once the cooldown ended and told him to aim for the weak spots.
He was grateful and I had a good time giving him weapons he didn’t yet have and pointers
You play the game.
you plat the game? to enjoy it? until you don't, then play something else? then come back when you miss it?
Just get your medals and samples to the cap
When things start to feel stale for me I either mix up difficulty and/or the gear I bring. The latest balance patch gave a lot of underused strats some life and it's been a lot of fun mixing and matching on 6/7 for me.
Either that or I'll start adding some self imposed restrictions, like one I did a while ago where I only used base weapons and strategems under level 5 (very effective tbh).
Wait for updates lol.
I try to collect the super credits for future gear
I’ve had more fun playing since I’ve got all the stuff.
Get the Warbonds.
Wiping out bugs and bots is massive fun without the grind for samples and medals.
You shoot stuff, if you are lucky with your friends, if you are more lucky with nice strangers.
You can go help lower level helldivers with the grind. Now your babysitting your begins
Start using stratagem/weapon combinations you haven't used/seen before. Host a game (because some turbo needs exist) and start cooking. Learn what each strat is good at and how to extract value from it. Use that to get more ideas on what strat combos might work well together.
Or just play for another week of nothing but Breaker Incendiary, Redeemer, Auto cannon, Orbital Rail cannon, Airstrike, and Shield Backpack.
I find “new-ness” now in trying strats and weapons that I never use and force myself to use them to shake it up a bit. Regardless of any kind meta.
You play for fun
You play the game and enjoy it, or you go play something else
Now you democratically help everyone else get all their stuff while spreading liberty and freedom.
I went outside. It’s summer now I think.
Now it’s time to get weird with your entire loadout. And I mean weird.
If you have all the stuff, put it to good use. Spread Managed Democracy throughout the galaxy.
Gee, I don't know, maybe play the game? What a useless post lol. If you like the game play it, if the only reason you play is to unlock stuff then I guess you shit out of luck. I unlocked everything 30+ hours ago and I still play the game constantly because it's fun to play. The concept of playing and unlocking battle pass items is not a new concept for live service games.
Spread Democracy and make friends.
Use all the stuff on different planets, vs the two enemy factions in variety of mission types, in different loadout configurations.
If you only play to unlock stuff you wouldn’t use, go play something else until new stuff becomes available to unlock in Helldivers 2 again.
Play for reasons that suit you
PS - Soon there will be a third enemy faction
Play the game yo
Help others.
I drop with different weapon and stratagem combinations based on the needs of the three other randos. Keeps it pretty fresh: i basically never use the same loadout twice in a row
What difficulty do you most play on?
If its not helldiver, than I suggest playing on that difficulty.
You got all the stuff, now learn to utilize it all to its full potential.
What do you mean "now what"? Now we can finally play the game.
Help others get all the stuff
Go to lower levels, let them try out the fun gear. Show them the ropes, and absolutely crush the bugs/bots with them. Help them get all the samples. This is the way.
Manage Democracy
You just play to have fun! No need to worry about collecting resources or currency. You can still do so if you want to, but you don't get anything for it.
Once I embraced that I don't have to play for the next new thing, I started to have a lot more fun. Trying wacky new builds, playing around with the lesser used weapons and Stratagems. Part of the fun of the game is that most things are viable, you just need the ingenuity to use it.
If you haven't truly unlocked everything including all medal based items then do that. Otherwise, try and do solo runs and get 100% helldive. Or try to get good at every weapon in the game. I've unlocked everything and at this point the fun is just improving myself and knowing I can handle anything solo if need be.
I play the game and have fun
Nah, no prestige mode here. Get the achievements, and start helping out less able divers. Play, enjoy, set your own goals - see if you can solo helldive diff, or run a unique stratagem set of all turrets, or use armors you’re not used to. Play and enjoy, man. Treat the game like a game.
Play the game and enjoy it for what it is....
Maintaining democracy across the galaxy is a fight that never ends!
You are free to do what you want.
Learn different weapons.
Get your highest kill count
Play a little internal game like I've got said he did. Start at cadet and each time you don't die increase your rank.
Stuff like that
Help other people get there too. :)
Help others to have all stuff.
Got all the armors and warbonds unlocked? It’s just sc and xp until next warbond if so , relevant to getting everything atleast.
Finish up all the war bonds ? I have all the stuff unlocked as well now I’m just working on the warbond items
Focus on completing your warbonds!
now choose your difficulty. now go see about the true power of the Anti Material Rifle. now go become a shock trooper. now go become a flame trooper. now go become a bullet water-hose. now go take it easy & play at your own pace. :)
Kill 5
Trophies and achievements
Maxing out samples
Collecting enough Super Credits to be ready for the next Warbond release AND buy all the gear in the Super Store
What do you mean? Now you can finally play the game
Can never have enough Freedom and liberty helldiver
Try out new loadout combinations, mostly. Help out newbies.
Basically just wind down the intensity of how often you play so you don't get burnt out waiting for something new.
IMO? AH is taking a 6-week vacation soon, yeah? Might be good to do a summer siesta too. Maybe not COMPLETELY stop playing, but just hop on for a mission or two, try a new game, or just... go do something else.
Just play the game, and if you don’t like it then don’t play it
Play the game? Have fun?
For real. What does that even mean? Someone let the intern merge with the main
Democracy.
Touch grass I guess 🤷♂️
I either run low level and help them collect everything, or do high level and try to rush MOs
You keep playing and stop worrying about samples. Speed run that shit for the war effort or play for fun.
Just get blasted by teammates when they extract.
You spread democracy
Kill.
To be honest just grind until you have max medals and samples. Wait for the next warbond. Help out when you can
Now you can finally play the game. Go spread democracy, helldiver!
Bet you don’t have a working friends list 😆
I dunno. Play the game because you enjoy the gameplay. 🤷♂️
Try new weapons, stratagems, and loadouts.
Try to improve to where you play on Helldive difficulty (if you don't already)
Try Stratagem Roulette (a website that'll give you a random loadout to select) for some chaos.
Or, if you feel like you absolutely HAVE to be unlocking new stuff to enjoy a game try playing another game.
Why did u buy the game?? For the upgrades?? Or the gameplay??
Now you play the game?
Now you use them all
Work on self (aiming, positioning, skill, combos, kits, teamwork) > work on game progression
I'm maxed on everything, only XP and Super Credits for me now. Only reason I'm playing is for laughs with friends. Not bothered about the MO's as won't get rewards from it anymore.
They need to open up new sectors with the MO's that at least would freshen up the game.
You play the game.
I just stopped playing. There's no good endgame grind and the core gameplay loop lost its charm for me. Onto other games/hobbies.
i lobby hop and collect samples like a gremlin for lower level players
