“Notebook drawings style”

Yea it’s really weird people wanting to give their styles a name. It doesn’t really help the person unless you’re trying to imitate an established style by an already popular artist. Just let your “style” be yours and not try to pinpoint a name.
No, it's for SEO. It started with clothing stores giving everything a "style" like cottagecore or dark academia or preppy or whatever, so people could find their clothes more easily on Google. Then that turned into the "aesthetics" with all these micro categories. So now gen z thinks everything has to have a specifically named style, whether it's clothes, architecture or art.
Yeah I see so many posts on fashion/outfit subs being like "What's my style?" And they're literally wearing a tshirt and jeans
What do you mean? Jeans and a T-shirt are clearly “post-millennial metropolitan casual-core” 🙄
Gen Y/Z in general loves categorizing things- people, styles, etc.
Hashtag powa
It’s people looking for prompts for AI. They need to be able to tell Dall-E or whatever what style they want their image to be rendered in, and they think that Art is like biology, with an all encompassing taxonomy of “styles” to choose from.
It just reminds me of a cheap Buzzfeed story every time. “Take this quiz to find out what art style you are!”. Like who cares? It’s not like some styles are better than others or define who you are as a person lol. Just make art FFS.
They should just make r/whatsmyartstyle by now
It’s alright man, I’ve personally could never pin point my art style and i jumped on the bandwagon because I was curious, it’s all good though 👍
If you can’t pin-point your own art style… it usually means you don’t have one yet.
But keep drawing! Developing a style takes years!, just set your sights on what style inspires you, and study other artists whose works are appealing to you! Your own art style will develop in time :)
Gotcha, seems to be the case considering the other comments, i appreciate it a lot! I’m glad to have the feedback and knowledge/support to continue my art!
You already got a theme going, keep at it! Look up artists, and also practice your line work! That means doing lines from one end of the page to the other, with a consistent speed (not too fast and not too slow) and not lifting the pencil or stopping at any point till you reach the other end of the paper!
Try to keep them 1cm apart- and then when you fill the page (horizontally) from left to right, do it again right to left. Concentrate the movement through your whole arm and shoulder and keep your wrist nice and steady, it’s all in the shoulder! Not the wrist!
Then after doing these exercises, go through the page again in the middle of that 1cm of space, effectively “cutting” it into a 0.5!
At first your lines will probably look wiggly and crappy- but you must press on. Do these exercises DAILY and as OFTEN as you can. If you can do these as long as two-three months, that will be enough to get an excellent control of your lines, it will hone your eyesight and eye-measuring skills, and will give you much better control of where your lines go.
Again, this is really boring work- but think of it as doing push-ups or crunches in a gym. You strengthen your arm and eye, and it also reinforces the most important skills for art! PATIENCE and PERSEVERANCE!
You got this, dude. Keep going!! Can’t wait to see your progress! 💪✨
You can do it while watching a show or listening to an audiobook after a while, when you start getting used to it.
sorry to be the bearer of (possibly) uncomforting news, but you don't have a style YET. it comes with time and experience. People who have a style won't ever ask what it is because they just love making art. Keep up the work tho!! <3
Inconsistent. There are major differences between the way you draw a person, monster, and building. It's unique I would say, but you're definitely still in the larval stage so to speak, you'll be a butterfly later, and have a style of your own.

A strange world with monsters
Please, for the love of all that's holy, please stop posting these "style" threads. PLEASE.
14 year old class notebook sketches
Horror/Fantasy doodles.
Spooky sketch
stop trying to label everything
Edge-Y-Sketch
Edgy 15 year old
Developing. Dont let ego go ahead of skill
“Beginner trying to find his footing”.
unfinished
Bro drew Minas Tirith and thought we wouldn’t notice
I feel like I've seen all these before...
No specific style yet! But, I’m excited and can see the potential in what CAN become of your sketches so far:)
wow good work on that horse, those are tough. It's so lightly pencilled though, I feel like you could benefit from adding some ink! It might look worse at first if you're not used to it but with some practice I feel like it could really bring out the shapes of what you're making and give it some really striking contrast
Yeah... Darker shading is good. I was going to suggest using inks. I think if they messed with brush inks their stuff would pop.
Thank you so much! I had to use a reference for the horse but I tried to make it my own. I used to doodle in pen and like it a lot, haven’t done it in a long time though
I'm not sure what "style" it could be but I appreciate your aesthetic, it's macabre and I dig that you are using pencil.
My 17 year old son has drawn some things similiar. Your work is very expressive and moody. Keep drawing,
Thank you, I will and I hope you’re son does as well
You have cool ideas. Each of these is a dark take on fantasy and fable. The more you draw, the more realistic these will become. Keep at it!
Están cool, me los imagino más desarrollados y son muy cool
Semi-intermediate realistic, or ‘bored and in math class’ style.
Love it. Especially the first picture. I wanted to do a drawing of a person coming out of a rectangular portal for sometime, but couldn’t get it right. This inspires me to fix it.
I dunno but your drawings are cool as hell
Dark fantasy
You don’t have a style right now it’s devolved from years of drawing right now is the beginning stage of your art style so much of this style will not be used once you develop as an artist
amateurish
Uhm. . . . A sketch style ? Because that's what it is?
Mental institute style
Get yourself some water colors, trust me
Your style would be tbd. Your subject matter seems to be Dark souls.
Edit: had sketching as art style but that doesn’t fit as much. Style yet to be determined.
The shit i used to see when i close my eyes lol
so cool.
Horror? Mystery? Steampunk(the castle)?
1st things that come to mind are horror manga, Mike Mignola's comics, and the movie "9" for me.
I think the closest words I have to describe it is ‘nihilistic horror’ although you may have to develop it further.
Eldritch
Fanciful, Illustrative
Awesome
Pretty good skills
First dude reminds me of the glue trap meme lol but instead it's more of a cement wall
I like it! It’s dark and has some cool ideas and compositions. I saw a couple other drawings on your profile and they’re really cool. Keep drawing! You have an interesting mind and it shows in your drawings.
Me at 3am.
concept. potential is afoot, and I look forward to seeing more stuff made from this artist. it's not just about the lines. It's what the lines lead to. a concept for a character that didn't exist before. a scene of epic proportions, a story that's ladened with the soul of the creator.
if they so desire to do so that is
I have to agree with some of the other opinions but if you really want a name to temporarily tack on to your sketches, “Wispy Horror” came to mind. Keep drawing and having fun! 🫶
French
Let them cook
Like the “is this what you saw” portion of “The Dead Files” paranormal reality show
Your style.
Sketchy and shadey...so Skadey!
lol thank you!
Good drawings
Is the first inspired by SCP-106, and the second by the divider from Dead Space?
The first is inspired by the trope of a shadowy creature coming from the wall, the second is based off my superstition of whistling at night
Oh, cool!
There isn't any style, you're too early on your journey to start thinking about that. and don't fixate on "styles", just study, practise, copy your fav artists in order to improve, having a "style" literally means nothing
Creepypasta kid.
Idk, but that's where these take me.
That’s the era I grew up in
So good
The kind of thing that a century ago would have sent you to a mental asylum.
He’ll yeah
😎🍻
IDK But those drawings look ✨exquisite✨
remind me of zdzisław beksiński but nowhere near the legend
it is a bit cheesy.
maybe cheesy teenager sketch?
Love me some cheese
Imaginative and surreal! I really dig it. Keep going. I'd like to see more. Also, check out the Loomis head drawing method.
Maybe inspired by Lovecraft
Love lovecraft
I see many people are rude, but keep practicing, I would also recommend to use some watercolors on this.
For your art style, I would say you were going towards surrealism or abstract expresionism, especially on the first few.
it's kinda sad how many comments are just plain insults :(
Thank you, that truly means a lot, the mean comments do hurt
Well nobody is born with DaVinci talent, all of them had to practice to get somewhere. And my mentor started painting when he was 30 years old, everybody told him he can't do it. Now he is 52 years old and he is one of the best artists in my town, many young artists ask for his help.
Don't let the hate get you down, good luck! :)
Thank you, truly thank you
Don’t listen to these people. You clearly have developed a style. “Artistic Style” and “technical skill” aren’t the same thing, and both will change over time with practice.
I would say your style is “fantasy/horror” or “surrealist horror”. If you want to develop that further, you could look into different art mediums and/or genres to find other things that suit your thematic style.
Thank you, that really means a lot
10 years old kid that loves to doodle, thats your "style"
Not really a defined style, pencil on paper basic drawings. Got some hints of fantasy though
You don’t have a style yet! Looks like you’re just learning right now and a style comes when you feel more confidence in your skills to make your own stylistic choices. For example a specific eye shape that’s used universally across your art (see old scooby doo animation) or drawing with irrationally thick lines, vice versa. Keep doing art, try different mediums like paint or charcoal or oil pastels!
There’s definitely a touch of Lovecraftian flair to your style.
slenderman ahh drawings
I wouldn't say you have a developed style as of yet, but even if you did it'd be tough to put a tag on it unless you get heavily inspired by an already established one.
It'd be easier asking what themes and ideas your drawings portray to people as that will give more meaningful info imo, also you can find established-styles/artists with similar themes for inspiration and potentially a goal of how you would like to continue with art.
Sketchy
Creepy
Really good
Young and creative. Keep practicing you’re doing great.
I wouldnt say it’s a particular style, but you definitely got some talent going on. Keep practicing my friend
I would say most of them are spooky while the others are mystical.
Sketching and doodling phase
Do you watch avatar the last air bender?
I do not
Ah ha
None as of yet. As you get better and start to choose certain things, mix inspirations of other artists, and improve in a unique direction, I think it will be clear to you what your style is.
Internet influenced , I get some tumbler vibes if I'm just being brutally honest.
But beyond that I think they look good
Dark souls
Pencil drawing scribble
Those are more sketches than finished pieces. My advice would be to focus on doing the work, ie finish a piece, take a critical look at it, and then try to do better on the next one. If you keep this up, your "style" will eventually come to you.
Also, finding your style or voice is not some earth-shattering moment. It's more becoming aware of what you like and what you don't like. You may like drawing a facial feature (eyes, nose, etc) a certain way, doing the backgrounds a certain way, etc. Each preference is a small detail by itself, but put them all together, and that's your style. The only way to arrive at this is by doing the work, though.
Dark souls on notebook scribbles theming
I think its a physiological horror theme

Awesome! The first drawing reminds me of the Demon wall! (A boss in Final Fantasy)
Sketches
Pencil
Maybe work on anatomy a bit more and fixing your lines before asking for what style. There’s potential for a style though just keep practicing and getting better, maybe in a few years of learning. You got this!

a flair for the dark arts, the last one reminds me of a dophin coming out his eye so whimsy but that reflects more on me than your art style
