Snake in my toilet???

I just found a snake halfway coming out of my toilet. I tried to take a picture of it, but he slinked down into the toilet before I was able to.. he looked just as shocked as I was to see him. So then, as one does, I repeatedly flushed the toilet and THEN googled what I should do. Oops. So now that I have a rogue snake in my plumbing, I filled my toilet with bleach and covered every single drain with something heavy. There’s a pipe clean out access point in my front yard that’s uncovered because the lawnmower hit it. I’ve bought a replacement cover, but I’m pretty sure he got in through there. How long am I supposed to feel uncomfortable using the toilet? Should I still call a snake person even though I’m pretty sure he’s not in my toilet anymore because it’s flushing fine? Do I call a plumber? I don’t really know what to do. Help me please. This is my worst nightmare lol

Drain Issues - Gargling and Clogs

Hello, I bought a house 2 years ago and had 3 clogs on this drain line so far (see diagram). I have an upstairs kitchen sink and basement kitchen sink connected to this drain line. The clog causes my basement sink to fill up and flood the basement.

The first two times I had a clog, i used a snake to fix. The 3rd clog (approx. 3 months ago) i was able to fix using dish soap and hot water. I don't know what the clog is or what is causing the clog...

Recently i noticed whenever water drains from the upstairs sink, it causes loud garaging noise and smell in the basement sink. I installed a mechanical vent on the basement kitchen sink after finding out there was no vent, I also installed a 1.5" backflow preventer between the basement sink p-trap and mechanical vent so any future clogs will not flood the basement.

I was wondering if anyone can guide me with where to start? Should i replace the mechanical vent? or Is it better i investigate the drain? I am thinking if a camera inspection would help me find the underlying issue.

My bathrooms and laundry are connected on a separate drain line and I have no issues with that line.

thanks for your help!

Automatic Toilet Bowl Cleaners?

Hey y'all 👋

I was thinking about using a tank tablet to help maintain my toilet between cleanings. Thankfully I remembered someone once telling me that the chemicals can be caustic and damaging to your toilet, SO... I've got some questions.

First, is it only bleach-based tablets that are a major issue? Would something like the Scrubbing Bubbles tablets that are bleach-free be ok?

Second, what about systems like the Fluidmaster or Kaboom automatic dispensers that keep the tablets out of your tank water and instead dispense cleanser into your overflow tube when flushing?

Finally, gel sticky thingies??? Like the Scrubbing Bubbles Gel Stamps that you stick in your bowl. Not even sure if these contain a disinfectant but figured I'd ask to cover my bases.

Many thanks!

Shower has a burnt/Smokey smell coming from drain. What do?

Basically title. Smell is coming from drain and has a distinct smell that is somewhat burnt and Smokey but not in a fiery sort of way. I’d say it’s more of a chemical kind of smell. I shave my head so it’s not hair product. I use basic soap, brush my teeth, and mouthwash in the shower only. What is this smell? Is it dangerous? How do I get rid of it?

Also, I’m in a two story apt if that makes any difference.

How do I plug and bury a sanitary service stub?

I had downspouts that connected to the sanitary service. The city made the previous owners remove them, run downspouts, and fill the downspout lines with cement, at grade.

Well, the regular gutters pour water on my foundation so I’d like to run them out with pvc and popups. But to do that I need to dig out those old connections, plug them, and bury them.

The city will have to be a part of the process so I’m here looking for ways to dig out, break the old lines, plug, and bury (that’s up to code).

Could I used a typical sewer drain plug, fill it in w cement, and bury it? Is there a better way to do it?

Test rubber ball deflates after few days

I moved my washer-dryer, so the drain was not useful anymore. To close it, I got Cherne test rubber ball, inserted and inflated it. I see that the test ball deflates after a few days leaking drain water. How do I get it to stay inflated permanently. I tried to close two drains and both have same issue, so I am guessing I am doing something wrong. I did not find much information online.

P trapped dry sewer smell

The p trap in the kitchen sink in my basement dried out and now there is an awful smell down there. Today I ran hot water down the drain plus vinegar and baking soda but the smell is still there. Does anyone know how to get rid of the smell or do I have a bigger problem?
