Took a shower in my master bath and came out to water underneath the flooring in my bedroom! I’m not noticing any water under the flooring in the bathroom, just in my bedroom right outside of the shower. Help!
Thank you for this! It sounds like we may be in the same boat, this is directly on the other side of the wall that divides the shower and bedroom like you mentioned. The bathroom shower liner and flooring in both rooms were just replaced. We are having a plumber come out tomorrow.
Yes, sounds very familiar. Maybe it’s the shower pan or maybe a waterproof barrier wasn’t put up before the tiling was done. I’ve heard horror stories of people tiling on drywall and don’t use a waterproof barrier as a way to cut corners. Keep us updated. I’m curious to find out what the plumber discovers.
Plumber just left. The drain in the shower wasn’t put on properly or sealed…
Slab leak. Time for a reroute my friend
Is this a new renovation? Or a new issue in an existing home?
New renovation. The floors in bedroom and bath. New shower liner in bathroom. House was just purchased.
Yikes - that may get complicated. How long have you been living in the house?
I’m sure someone will be able to chime is whether or not you have any recourse. Was the home inspected prior to buying?
I would advise waiting to contact your insurance company in any capacity, even to ask a question about a potential claim, as I believe it does have a negative impact long term.
Just moved in the house today, first shower ran!
Was the house inspected?
What state are you in?
House was inspected, and we had an extra plumbing inspection too… just to be safe. We’re in Florida.
Contact your home owners insurance, then your realtor, then the inspectors, then the builder/seller.
Start it the top.
Document EVERYTHING and COMMUNICATE EVERYTHING YOU CAN IN WRITING!
Had this happen in the kitchen. The dishwasher line had a small leak. Probably would have never detected it otherwise.
I had this issue too, water under the floors near the bathroom after showering. Turns out it was due to very high humidity. After installing a dehumidifier the issue went away.
Get ready to either, A. Spend hundreds of hours on YT and get your degree in carpentry/home repair and plumbing... or B. Spend thousands on a Professional. That REALLY sucks you just moved in and this is happening. I had this exact thing, water under my Vinyl flooring, but my water intrusion was from my foundation and incorrectly installed slider door in my lower level. Good luck!
They just moved in after a sale and two inspections… 1st call is to home owners insurance, who should hold inspectors liable. Next call is to realtor, then inspectors, then builder/seller.
They fucked up the shower pan and/or drain… end of story.
Had this happen to me. I don’t know if you are in the same situation I was , but our shower pan/ shower curb failed. Water didn’t leak into our bathroom floor, but on the other side of the wall that divided the shower and our bedroom, the floor was wet 6 by 6 ft. Previous owner was a DIYer. We had to redo the master bath shower. When the wall was opened up, some of the bottom of the studs were rotted. It was a mess. Had to replace some of the subfloor too.
