Water wouldn’t stop refilling! What is the mechanism to control the waterline? I tried to manually stop the float from rising up it didn’t help. Also I think I lost the clip of the float too…it’s been a disaster! Help!!
I managed to find the clip thing back and let it rise all the way up and it still won’t stop filling :/.
New fill valve. Easy job around 15-20 minutes for a homeowner
Stopping the float from rising will keep the water filling. You need to let the float rise enough to press down on the valve mechanism to stop the water.
The way you set the water level is to adjust the fill valve tube up and down, thus changing the level at which the float shuts off the valve.
Lift the float. If it doesn’t stop you need a new fill valve. If it does shut off the water and add some coloring to the tank to see if the flapper is leaking. If color makes it in the bowl you need a new flapper
