Honeymoon - Unique or overwater hotel recommendations

Hey Reddit - We are dearching for an overwater or unique hotel experience for 6-9 nights to kickoff an extended honeymoon in August and would love any advice and recommendations.

Are there any specific hotels and islands you would recommend? Any travel agents to work with that would help make this experience amazing, and help us lock in great pricing?

While I think an overwater bungalow would be special, we have absolutely loved very unique hotels like Gaia hotel in Belize and staying at the San Blas Islands, etc. - so would love to hear of any other favorite, unique hotels in the world

Key details below: - $800-$1,200 / night, all-inclusive - Both 33 years old and very adventurous / fun. We love swimming / snorkeling / hiking / tennis / water sports / etc. - We’re not flashy people but we do love great food (very important to me) and great service - Smaller / more intimidate experience would be preferred - Looking at Bora Bora, Tahiti and Maldives but very open to any other suggestions. Worried about the rain in Maldives in August - Flying in from Columbus, OH. Will be following this up with about a month in each of Asia (Japan, Vietnam, 1 more country), LatAm (Peru & Argentina) and Europe (Greece & Italy) but do not have a required next destination and it will depend on the honeymoon - Do not want to go Central America or the Caribbean for this part of the trip just because it is more accessible for us on a normal basis for a week-long vacation vs. this longer trip we will be taking

Thank you for the help in advance!

Are people on this site into Luxury Travel Hacking or just outright Luxury Travel?

Taking a poll-

I need to start by saying I am a Luxury Travel Advisor but also consider myself a points expert. Personally I typically use CC points to book the best biz/first class seats to my destinations and then use cash for the luxury hotel stays. I am thinking to switch up my biz and offer free help booking airfare w points if you book at least 2 nights through my Classic Travel Preferred / Virtuoso / Prive / Stars, etc portal.

Is this something you think luxury travel people would be interested in? I tried to find a luxury travel hacking sub but doesn’t appear to be one?

Luxury travel agencies pros/cons

I’m not interested in travelling on a tight budget or looking for the cheapest hotel/restaurant etc. I have limited vacation time and want to enjoy my travels to the fullest! But I haven’t had the best experience with local travel agencies so I want to try the more “prestigious” ones. What are some of the biggest pain points about luxury travel agencies like Abercrombie and Kent or Virtuoso? Are they as personalized and private as they seem or could they do better?

Custom Process In Private Jets

Flying in a private jet comes with many perks, and one of the most notable ones is the streamlined customs and immigration process. Unlike commercial flights, where you often find yourself waiting in long lines and dealing with extensive paperwork, private jet travel offers a much smoother experience.

If you're considering flying overseas in a private jet or simply curious about the process, this blog by Haute Jets on "THE CUSTOMS AND IMMIGRATION PROCESS WHEN FLYING OVERSEAS IN A PRIVATE JET" is a must-read. Although my hotel booking is short

I had booked a hotel in Kyoto for 6 days but due to a change in my plans, I will only be staying for 4 days. I still have a free cancellation offer. Now rebooking the same hotel for 4 days using rebookify is much easier and less time-consuming than booking 6 days in advance.

I'd like to know if I can let the hotel know my situation and maybe convert the 2 days I'm not staying into credits/upgrades I can use. Or need to me cancel the hotel booking?
Thanks reddit!

$20k / 10 days vacation in November

We have $20k and a max of 10 days to devote to a trip for our 10th anniversary in early November. It’s much harder than I thought to narrow down the options.

Most of our trips have been truly exhausting, I plan detailed itineraries and we are and on the go the entire trip. We like to be busy and to see as much as we can, but this isn’t that kind of trip, which has me pretty lost. We still want to have things to do, just not at an exhausting pace, need lots more down time this go around.

Things that we really want: For any flights longer than 6 hours from Florida, business class cost would have to be factored into our budget. The 10 day total we have also includes travel days, so that is kind of limiting how far I’d be willing to go, really do not want to spend more than 2 of those days traveling to get there and back.

Really do not want to have to plan. I know the money could go further if I planned it all, but that takes away from my enjoyment of the trip.

We do not want to be the youngest people in the place. We are late 30s/early 40s. We are social-ish. It’d be nice to be able to have the option of chatting with people and making some friends, but still have private time with just the two of us. If the age of the crowd is too old, we will end up on our own for the entirety of the trip which doesn’t sound as fun to us.

We want to be really spoiled and pampered, high end dining, personal butler service, spa services, planned outings to get out and do exciting things, whatever we’d like brought to us with a simple ask. We want to feel a little wealthy on this trip! We have never spent this much on a vacation. Initially when I started looking, an option I was considering was a private staffed villa somewhere with a private chef, butler, etc. but we wouldn’t have the interactions with other people that we will want sometimes.

We do not want to be in huge crowds with huge lines and waits to frustrate us, this would defeat the purpose of spending so much in our eyes.

All inclusive sounds amazing because I do not want to be worrying about tips, added costs, planning stuff, etc. but, we are not sun worshippers or beach goers and not huge fans of swimming activities. So, looking at all inclusive places sure checks a lot of boxes, but I feel like we’d be bored out of our minds by the third day. We need things to do and see that do not revolve around water and sun.

Child free is key, do not want a bunch of kids wherever we go.

Any suggestions to point me in the right direction? I’ve read about a hundred posts on here and have scoured the internet for the past few weeks and nothing is screaming out at me.

Recently started looking at European cruises, the high end ones such as Regent Seven Seas certainly checks nearly all of my requirements, but my fear is we’d be traveling with a whole bunch of folks way older than us and it wouldn’t fit with our personality. We are night owls, we do not want to be in bed before midnight and we definitely do not want to be up and moving at the crack of dawn. This one in particular had me drooling until I found a Reddit post telling a 55 year old they’d be the youngest person there and everything is quiet by 9pm: https://www.rssc.com/cruises/NAV241115/summary

Is there anything like this for a younger crowd?? Does not have to be a cruise.

Summer “beachy” travel on east coast, with 3 yo and 6 mo old.

Like title suggests, just looking for travel ideas for the summer. Originally had plans with other couples but cancelled last minute.

We were thinking Portland, Maine. Wife was thinking south east coast with outer banks/charleston.

We're open to ideas as well. Maybe somewhere nice in florida?

Overall looking for a high end scale resort preferably close to the beach and appropriate for little ones. Thanks!

Vietnam - Hanoi and phu quoc

Hello all! Travelling to Vietnam in the month of June — 6 nights in hanoi (creating that the base and will be travelling around) and 3 nights in phu quoc.

Want to be at khem/sao beach when in phu quoc, here’s what I’ve shortlisted: 1. JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort and Spa 2. New World Phu Quoc 3. Premier Village Phu Quoc Resort Managed by Accor

In Hanoi, we preferably want to be in Old Quarter, but if local transport is safe at night (travelling as two women), don’t mind staying somewhere around old quarter too: 1. Grand Mercure Hanoi (please give your input about location too) 2. Movenpick Hotel Hanoi Center 3. Melia Hanoi 4. Dolce by Wyndham Hanoi Hotel 5. Peridot Grand Luxury Boutique Hotel

If any of you have stayed here, would love some reviews and/or pics!

If you have any other suggestions please feel free to suggest! My budget is USD 2100 in total for all 9 nights.

Mayakoba - where to stay?

I have read a lot of reviews but would like to get your opinions. Looking at the main 4 Properties and leaning towards banyan tree.

We like a nice property but value activities too. Any recommendations would be great wnd why? And you can eat across properties right?
