Honeymoon - Unique or overwater hotel recommendations

Hey Reddit - We are dearching for an overwater or unique hotel experience for 6-9 nights to kickoff an extended honeymoon in August and would love any advice and recommendations.

Are there any specific hotels and islands you would recommend? Any travel agents to work with that would help make this experience amazing, and help us lock in great pricing?

While I think an overwater bungalow would be special, we have absolutely loved very unique hotels like Gaia hotel in Belize and staying at the San Blas Islands, etc. - so would love to hear of any other favorite, unique hotels in the world

Key details below: - $800-$1,200 / night, all-inclusive - Both 33 years old and very adventurous / fun. We love swimming / snorkeling / hiking / tennis / water sports / etc. - We’re not flashy people but we do love great food (very important to me) and great service - Smaller / more intimidate experience would be preferred - Looking at Bora Bora, Tahiti and Maldives but very open to any other suggestions. Worried about the rain in Maldives in August - Flying in from Columbus, OH. Will be following this up with about a month in each of Asia (Japan, Vietnam, 1 more country), LatAm (Peru & Argentina) and Europe (Greece & Italy) but do not have a required next destination and it will depend on the honeymoon - Do not want to go Central America or the Caribbean for this part of the trip just because it is more accessible for us on a normal basis for a week-long vacation vs. this longer trip we will be taking

Soneva fushi or jani. Bit outside of your budget and not all inclusive, but you won't regret it.

Way way outside of budget for those Sonevas. Offseason rate at Soneva Kiri would sneak in though although not fully inclusive.

I think you'll struggle to get something fully inclusive in your price range if you're wanting a true luxury hotel in Bora Bora or Maldives. The top tier places are usually coming in at 2k+ a night.

I'll throw you an idea that's not so touristy like Bora or Maldives. Have a look at the Aitutaki Lagoon private island resort in the Cook Islands. You're going to be hard pressed to find a more beautiful location.

It's adults only and perfect for a honeymoon. The resort is on its own private island and the lagoon there is absolutely breathtaking. It's not going to be in the same class as a Four Seasons, but you're also not surrounded by a dozen other resorts

It's a really unique place and not in a tourist trap like Maldives or Bora Bora. The lagoon at Bora Bora is beautiful but it's jam packed with resorts and tourists.

You can walk 5 minutes down the beach in cook islands and be by yourself the whole day, or get a boat transfer to a nearby small island and get them to set you up for the day with a picnic, you'll be totally alone, and when you're on honeymoon I think that's really nice.

Como in Maldives is really nice and would fit your price range if you're set on going there.

Another place to consider is the Seychelles. As beautiful as Maldives but generally cheaper all around for accommodation and particularly for alcohol. Maldives is a dry country so you can't bring in your own duty free and they mark up booze astronomically.

Ill throw you out something from left field as well, nowhere near the places you mentioned but it's such a fantastic beach and resort and thats Six Senses Zighy Bay in Oman. Just a stone's through from Dubai if you were transferring through there to go elsewhere, it's special.

Maldives is probably the obvious choice - rain isn't a problem as long as you stay enough nights (typically 5-7).

Soneva Kiri could also be an option - that was more enjoyable than Maldives for us, but different.

Man, that is 100% much more of our vibe and what we’re looking for. That sounds amazing. Any favorites in the Seychelles that are particularly special as well? I’ve heard amazing things about Six senses, but we’re a bit worried about the heat in August, that said, I’m definitely even more excited about it now!
