Cumberland Island ConditionsQuestion

Got an overnight permit for Brickhill Bluff in a few weeks (mid June). Is it going to be as truly miserable as I’m hearing about? Was originally wanting to bike camp for the night. Also how far around the island are road bike tires able to go?

Low gap campground site mapQuestion

Does anyone have a map of the site numbers. Trying to figure out what site is the far back left corner when you’re driving in after you drive across the water near the tree with the big smiley face carved into it if it’s still there. Haven’t been in a few years

Camping this weekend?Question

Honestly just looking for a good camp site this weekend. I’m aware that everyone will be camping this coming weekend but a point in the right direction for me my wife and the dog would be appreciated. Primitive is fine but at the moment my truck is out of commission so we only have the audi so limited on anything off road, thanks in advance

Jones Creek Campground?Question

Hi everyone! I’m looking to do my first bikepacking trip with my bf this Memorial Day weekend, and wanted to know a bit more about the Jones Creek campground near Dahlonega since that’s our top choice right now.

Can’t find a whole lot of information online though, and it seems a little inconsistent.

My main questions: * Does the campground have water? * Does the campground fill up fast/should I be worried about space? We have just one tent and two bikes so we wouldn’t need a lot at all. * Are campfires/stoves allowed?

Primitive rec needed - Dahlonega area Information

Haven’t been in years but looking for a primitive camp spot in the Dahlonega area. Prefer something near a nice trout stream with hiking options for the hubs and the dogs available. Def do not need water/electric and hiking in is great. As far from any other people as possible is +++++

Red top or Tugaloo?Question

My husband and I plan to book a yurt for two nights in July while my son is at Scout Camp. We are trying to decide between Red top mountain and Tugaloo. Is there any reason to choose one over the other? Are there any amenities/nearby adventures that outshine the other? We will be staying near Helen for the rest of our trip. Thank you in advance for any tips/info!!

Campgrounds with privates campsites NE GAQuestion

I’m going camping with some friends soon and I don’t want to worry about us possibly disturbing other people. Are there any campgrounds that have each site spread out and decently far from each other? Looking for sites around east to north east Georgia.

Hiawassee GA tent camping spot?Question

Going to Hiawassee area this weekend and hoping to find a good camping spot. Don’t want a lot of people around and a lot of the big campgrounds are completely booked. Experienced hikers/campers and we practice leave no trace

Tallulah River Campground Question

After looking at several campgrounds in the area, I think Tallulah river campground is a good choice. However, it is now by reservation and they do not have a map of sites. Does anyone know which camp sites are actually on the river? Thanks in advance!

Car camping spot recommendation for absolute beginners?Question

I'm looking to car camp with my wife one of the coming weekends somewhere around Atlanta. We're both new to it and would really appreciate recommendations and general tips. Ideally, we'd love a place that is around 1.5-2hrs, has a water body or waterfall that we can swim in and not too crowded. We'll be camping from the back of our forester and wouldn't mind going a bit off the pavement to reach the place, if needed.

Our current setup is just an air mattress that fits in back, which along with some pillows and blankets should suffice for a night out in the current weather I feel. We don't plan on cooking or anything else at the campsite, just need it to be a night outdoors in peace.

Sandy Bottom CampgroundInformation

I’m taking my son on his first camping trip in May. At my fiancées suggestion I’m taking him to Sandy Bottom Campground in the Chattahoochee forest. I usually just camp out of my outback with a tent I attach to it. Does anyone have any suggestions or info about this place or advice in general about it? Thanks in advance!

Dog friendly trails near Truist Park?Question

We are bringing our two miniature schnauzers to the Braves game. We'd like to take them on about 3 mile hike before the game, preferably on a wooded trail to tire them out. Otherwise, they will be barky back at the hotel when we are at the game.

Camping at Tallulah Gorge State ParkQuestion

Does anyone know how many tents can we fit at the camp site? We're a group of 6 and planning to have 3 tents

Vogel Walk-In SitesQuestion

I just booked a weekend in June at a walk-in site at Vogel. What should I do while I’m there?

Tallulah Gorge vs Vogel vs Cloudland Canyon State ParkQuestion

I have a group of friends (total will be 6 of us) from NJ visiting in May and want to take them camping for a night. I've narrowed down to the three state parks above. Can anyone recommend which one should we go to? We'd like to go hiking during the day, easy hike and good reward/view at the end of the hike

Does Red Top Mountain have potable water?Question

Help!

So I kinda assumed the yurts would have drinkable water up here, but maybe not? There's a spigot outside the yurts and I don't know if it's drinking water or not.

Some yurts, the handle is red, other yurts and the handle is blue green...otherwise they look exactly the same.

Is this drinkable water? If not, does anyone know where can I get some?

Any tips/tricks to camping at Red Top Mountain State Park?Question

Hi all! I've been living in Atlanta for six years now and have never been camping in the area. The girlfriend and I have been itching to finally go and we decided we want to try and get a group together for Memorial Day weekend! Looking around on Reddit it looks like Red Top would be a good first time out and the thought of swimming out on Lake Allatoona sounds amazing. Looks like all the cottages and yurts are booked up so we would be doing campsite camping which is fine with me! We we're leaning the old fashioned way anyways. As I'm typing this I'm realizing I'll need a bunch of camping stuff including a tent so feel free to send me the best places to go check out that stuff too!

For people that have been there before is there anything I should look out for? Any favorite campsite lots? Favorite trails? Any awesome things to do?

If this helps we are interested in Boating, Fishing, Pickleball, Hiking.

EDIT: I went back to look at the availability of other sites and it looks like it's all booked up. I guess I was ignorant to think anything would be open on a holiday weekend! Well anyways I still would like to go another weekend so still open to advice.

Thanks all!

UPDATE: thanks to the people who told me to set availability notifications! I was able to snag a cottage at red top Mountain State Park for memorial day weekend! Thanks so much to all!

Best 10-15 mile one night backpacking routesQuestion

Howdy. I go on a few camping trips a year with my dad and we're starting to run out of new spots. Any suggestions for moderate difficulty one nighters? The loop from amacalola up to the lenn foot inn via the lenn foot inn trail and back on the AT is a good example of difficulty. Blood mountain is too much. Open out and backs and point to points, but loops are preferred. Thanks!

Campsites?Question

My boyfriend's family is going camping, and since I like the outdoors they asked me to find a campsite. They live in Madison, GA and are willing to drive for 2 hours. They are also okay with walking maybe .5 miles to the campground. We would like to see someplace with nice views, waterfalls, and trout fishing. Any ideas? :)
