I’m going camping with some friends soon and I don’t want to worry about us possibly disturbing other people. Are there any campgrounds that have each site spread out and decently far from each other? Looking for sites around east to north east Georgia.
...so it's just like regular camping, but it comes with a list of chores and a $400 cleaning fee?
Not always, I got a buddy who rents A-frames pretty cheap!
Trey mountain
A. H. Stephens State Historic Park, on i20 between Atlanta and Augusta, has a "Pioneer Campsite" which is pretty isolated from the rest of the camping spots (about $50/night).
I like this so far, it might work for us. Can you tell me what the terrain is like if you camped there? Also is there parking at the site or do we have to park away and walk to it?
Terrain is typical of middle Ga - there are a few gentle hills but mostly flat, with a lake or two. There are pictures on their website of all their spots ( https://gastateparks.org/AHStephens ); the Pioneer site has parking semi-near. They also have cabins, tent, and RV spots.
Wife and I camped in an RV spot there last weekend, as that part of the state has some of the darkest sky (aka best stars) within reasonable driving distance.
Look into the Pioneer or Group sites for the state parks. They are usually separate from the other campgrounds and set up for large groups. Some will even have covered and screened kitchen areas.
On Hipcamp I found a great private campground, with lots of space between sites like you mentioned, near Helen. The name of the campsite is FrogTown or something with Frog in the name. Cute spot with several ponds. The host goes by Frog. I think it was a college nickname. Would recommend.
There are lots of great spots on Hipcamp.
Some of the state parks have decently spaced walk in sites. There's also the AT.
Hipcamp, but read the rules and TOS closely.
I recently discovered Paynes Creek Campground on Lake Hartwell. Of course, weekends are busier than week nights. The spots are decently spaced and if you’re lucky, there may be an empty spot between sites. Each sit is terraced with steps and they’re almost all lakeside with great views of sunrise & sunset and wonderfully filtered light through the tall trees.
There’s also a lot of remote sites in the USDA areas. They are just unofficial. Place like the cohutta etc.
Shhhh. Don't talk about it.
Backpacking deep in the Cohuttas, away from bug waterfalls, you may not see anyone for a week.
Lake Lanier has some like this. Even has bathrooms
Check out HipCamp.com, it’s like Airbnb for camping
