I’m taking my son on his first camping trip in May. At my fiancées suggestion I’m taking him to Sandy Bottom Campground in the Chattahoochee forest. I usually just camp out of my outback with a tent I attach to it. Does anyone have any suggestions or info about this place or advice in general about it? Thanks in advance!
That’s the plan!
One of my favorite campgrounds. You’ll have a great time!
How busy does it usually get this time of year? Planning on going the day after Memorial Day. Hoping the crowds clear out some.
If you’re there in the middle of the week, you’ll have no problem finding a campsite. There’s two other campgrounds in that same area so you’ll have plenty of space to find a spot.
Awesome, thanks man!
I understand there’s a waterfall in hikeable distance. Do you know how hard of a hike it is? I’ll have my son with me.
If you’re talking about Bull Cove Falls and High Falls, it is one hell of a hike. One of the steepest in Georgia, and it gets no maintenance so it can be very overgrown.
Ahh ok, probably not gonna make that hike with a 4 year old then. Thanks for the info!
Oh yeah, definitely not 4-year old friendly. But the river you’ll be on is pretty spectacular!
It's very remote, but oh my, is it stunning. You'll have a great time! Catch some trout for your dinner
