We do 2 pumps of salmon oil in every meal and the anti-itch vitamin.. both worked well until it just got too bad that she was hurting herself and we moved to medication. I’m sure your dog just has a irritation and it will clear up. I’m glad you were able to get him a vet appointment. Wishing you the best of luck!
Oh my goodness, our shar pei mix has had so many skin problems so I FEEL you’re pain and worry. A few things came to mind from my own experience. First, are they itching or biting that spot? Second, have you noticed them licking their paws? (This is a sign of a food allergy - turns out our dog is allergic to chicken). Shar peis are notorious for having skin sensitivity and it seemed like our dog was killing herself with the amount of lost fur, scratch and biting spots (similar to your pic). Finally, after trying salmon oil, fish oil, anti-itch vitamins, special shampoo, and ect. the vet and I have decided to put her on Apoquel which is a drug that stops dogs from itching. It has changed my dog’s life for the better! Her skin and fur are healing and becoming so much healthier. I’m sorry for the long response but I know how alarming it is to see spots like this and want to help our sweet fur babies.

Hi! I have been on 100mg of spironolactone with my Moderna IUD. It has 100000% helped! The biggest time I get acne is when I am PMSing, but other then that awful time of the month, I’m pretty clear!

I have literally NEVER experienced this in my entire life. I sit there with the urge and the need to go to the bathroom and nothing happens.
Does this side effect pass? My doctor wants me to monitor it for a month, but this is awful.

(Vent) my dog is terrified of the vet and I’m worried it will cost her her life
We adopted our girl a year ago. She is cuddly, spunky, and very sweet. She is also extremely protective of us around other animals and people. When we take her to the vet, she is a hot mess express - growling, trying to bite, squirming, peeing in herself, pooping on the floor, etc. you name it, she probably does it at the vet. It doesn’t help that it’s Covid and we aren’t allowed to join her inside most places. They have used treats, calming and kind voices, muzzle (which she got out of like Houdini???), and multiple leashes.
Flash forward to this morning (4:30am) and she jumps up to our faces in bed panting, breathing hard, rock hard/bloated stomach, shaking, drooling - all of the horrible tell-tale signs of something horribly wrong.
I take her to the emergency vet and she is acting the same anxiety-induced way she always does at the vet. I muzzle her and she relentlessly goes inside with the vet tech (without me). Not even a whole minute later, they are back outside and the tech explains that they couldn’t touch her bc she was growling and peeing on herself, but she “seems fine”.
I advocated for my girl and said this is how she acts at the vet, PLEASE, if you have to sedate her, just do it, something is WRONG.
Now I’m waiting for a vet to arrive which I was told could be a 1-3 hour wait.
I’m so worried that one day a vet will just dismiss her because of her behavior and it will cost her her life.
EDIT: yes we have used “calm protocol” with medicine from the vet in the past and 1. it did not help at all- they still wouldn’t check her properly and 2. It gave her diarrhea for 48 hours.
