I'm thinking of starting Lexapro, but some of these side effects are freaking me out. I'm trying to get a sense of how common they are.
i lost weight. but i also would eat out of boredom/anxiety throughout the day, and i don't do that anymore
I was underweight before so gaining weight was a result of me actually having an appetite. I’m also more motivated to exercise, so I’ve gained a lot of muscle mass too.
35lbs in a year
I only gained weight because I started taking the medicine due to my anxiety induced ED
I’ve been loosing weight
Lost 20 pounds because I was able to focus and stay motivated
I was overweight before I started, actually lost some weight while on it.
I was 110lbs in April when I first started taking it. I’m now 130lbs
no but i’m gaining weight while trying to taper off of it :(
I’ve been on for about a month now and gone up to 10mg. I have noticed a change in my appetite, I’m not as hungry as I used to be and am trying to get out for long walks most days and keep active. I have noticed I just have an impulse to eat thanks to previous depression, it’s more obvious now that I’m on lexapro. Like if I buy a large bar of chocolate pr bag of sweets - I’m not hungry, I don’t feel like it, but it’s ‘there’ so I must eat it to get rid of it 😅 so I’m going to work on that bad habit.
People say i look like im loosing weight. I dont have a scale and obviously look at myself everyday so i don’t notice. But i have noticed im not hungry anymore. I have to push myself to eat food.
Yes, but in the sense of I stopped stressing about my weight and money and had a month of take out. It's all my fault, not the lexapro.
Yep. But only about 5lbs. Lex just makes me more “snacky”
I lost weight and then gained all the weight I lost + another 5 kgs on top of that. It was bad (for me anyway) I stopped lexapro and switched to fluoxetine and I lost weight on fluoxetine, my anxiety is gone, no excessive sleepiness I had with lexapro, much more energy, my libido didn’t change whereas with lexapro it was nowhere to be found. Lexapro made my appetite go up by A LOT. Like excessively A LOT. I could eat an appetizer, entre and dessert when going to a restaurant something I was never able to do before. So overall lexapro kinda sucked for me however fluoxetine is doing wonders. You gotta figure out what works for you
I’ve gained 15 lbs in a year. But, I was pretty close to underweight before and didn’t eat enough on a regular basis. I do find myself not feeling “full” like I used to, so I sometimes overeat.
I gained about 5lbs and I excercise on the regular. I didn't eat before lex skipped meals and it made me an asshole. Now I'm trying to change from a binge eater to a snacker. I'm finding 6 months in that if I don't have small snacks I can become an asshole again. Hoping I don't have to go up to 15mg soon, a little worried about it.
I did, but there were a lot of other factors going on that contributed to it (namely, being in an unhappy relationship during a pandemic. I’d always had depression/anxiety, but no drug was going to fix my living situation. Things are a lot better now.). Doesn’t happen to everyone. For me, the main thing was that it made me crave CARBS, like a lot. So it’s something to watch out for, but again, doesn’t happen to everyone.
Lost weight. People who say they gained weight definitely did that on their own. Science still applies here to weight loss and weight gain. Calories in, calories out. Do the math and you'll be fine
I gained 10 lbs in 3 months. For a struggling former anorexic with body dysmorphia, this is really really hard to cope with. It was just so quick. Shorts I wore in Feb couldn't even button by May. Keeping up eating in a healthy way is intensely difficult knowing that I'm 10 lbs more than I've been in 4 years and clothes are tight or don't fit.
Nope. No change at all actually.
