That's such good quest design, then. I wonder if they way they determine if they're going to turn on you is based on your treatment and their power relative to your colony (equipment and numbers and such). I always wind up trying to make them happy, give them new clothes, dedicated beds, lavish meals and have never had them rise up in arms. But I have also never thought it worth it to arm the refugees unless they join my colony as I didn't want them leaving with any good gear.

So maybe if you keep them relatively happy and vulnerable, they don't strike you.

Canadian birth rates have been lower than self-sustaining for generations, now. You need people to fund the things you want and need. Someone actually ran the numbers and did the research in a peer reviewed journal article, I believe out of Sweden, and they found that between 1 and 5% of children have misattributed paternity. So, 1-3 kids in every school class these days (assuming classes were as large as they were when I was in high school, many moons ago).

Out of those that receive paternity test results, as many as 1/3rd are found to be negative. my partner and I chose not to have kids. It's not a software tool. It's literally an approach to teaching. Have you ever had a teacher create a lesson on the blackboard and gamified it? We played history Jeapordy and stuff when we were kids. That is essentially the analogue of gamification. You can code a game to be educational, it doesn't have to use specific software tailored to be anything specific outside of a game engine and some script.
