Eagle 5, Lone Star’s Winnebago.

I just finished a 6 year, 1-20 campaign. We had some dropouts very early on, and a new addition later, but we did have the same crew probably from around level 4 or 5. They killed the BBEG and saved the world

Apparently there’s about 2.5g creatine in a pound of beef. 2 pounds of beef a day will net you 5g, the recommended dose of creatine. That being said I still take 5g a day, it’s got a ton of benefits beyond even just lifting, it’s cheap, and no real downsides. And I wouldn’t do the HCL stuff, monohydrate has been researched to death, it’s the real deal.

I don’t love sous vide for steak tbh. I have an infrared steak grill that gets up to 1500 degrees. It’s fast and easy. Not my favourite method, but for convenience and speed it’s top tier

So ranch out of a bottle is awful. I loved it as a kid but as a not-kid, it’s gross.

That being said, we’ve started making our own, and it’s awesome. It’s very, very good. If you don’t want to go from scratch you can just do a packet of ranch seasoning in 1-2 cups of sour cream and 1-2 cups of mayo. That’s awesome, too. WAY better than the bottle, not the same thing even a little bit.

I read something somewhere that seemed to indicate cooked eggs become more bioavailable. Cooked foods in general, really

I quit after powering through five books hoping it would get better. I think I'll try it again, though.

I’m surprised to see no gelatinous cube mentions here

I worked sales at a guitar store for a couple years. One day I was in the back at the shop, talking with the tech. He was telling me a story about another one of his guitars, and I asked him "How many guitars do you have, Brad?"

He stopped what he was doing and looked up, thousand yard stare into space for five seconds, then ominously murmured "... I don't know."

This was an arrested development level joke, well done

I did something similar. At first it was a complete dead spot - actually it was absorbing the arcane energy, so any spell cast was indeed cast, the slot spent, but no visible effect happened.

After a while, it became a gamble - spells worked about 50% of the time, to encourage people to continue casting so the spellsink could continue absorbing juice. It was just a coin toss as to whether or not it worked.

I might make it just blow up, like all the magical energy has nowhere to go so it detonates in everyone’s face.

Anyone who has gardened should immediately understand the absurdity of assuming a tribe of humans could find 2000 calories daily, per person, of plant food, every day.

I’m on book two of the Bobiverse, it’s really fun!

Wake up and take pre-workout. Read for like 30 min, then lift. Empty stomach is best for me.

We've played with everything from unlimited screen time to none at all at everything in between. Our kids behavior is FAR better with less screen time. We've kind of settled on not much these days. We'll do a family movie once a week, and they probably get screens 2-3 times a week for like 30 minutes.

Man I love bench dips. My elbow is a little jacked so I haven't been able to do them in a long time, but I used to finish my arms workouts with a run-the-rack bench dip. Load up between two benches (heels on one bench in front, hands on one behind), and have a buddy load up four or five 45's on your lap. Do dips to failure, then he strips the top weight. Go to failure again. Strip. All the way down to no weight. Loved this stuff.

I'm more productive with free time in the morning than free time at night. I'm usually tired at night, so I'm not getting much done other than consuming media, which is fun but frankly is a waste of time.

If I get up at 5:00 I can do my prayers and scriptures before I go to the gym, then come back and shower and be at work (I work at home) by 7:00 or 7:30. Then I'm done work mid afternoon, I can work on my novel or hang with the kids until dinner, then more family time before bed. Then my wife and I can hang from 7:30/8:00 until 9:00. I read a book in bed until I get tired and fall asleep. If I try to do all that morning stuff in the afternoon after work, it often gets replaced. Things come up. If I force the important stuff early into the morning, it never gets skipped, I can still be flexible in the afternoons, and I'm not burning 2 or 3 or 4 hours watching tv and doom scrolling at night.

Obviously I'm not going above my goal so some of those won't be to absolute failure, but it's heavy enough they're probably 0.5-2 RIR by the time you're hitting your goal on every set.

I don’t choose or plan where to add the rep, my body does.

I’ll choose the scheme, say 4 sets of 8. Then I work my ass off to get as many reps (up to 8) as I can on each set. It’ll typically look something like this over time:

7,6,5,4

7,6,6,4

8,6,6,5

8,7,7,5

8,8,7,5

8,8,7,6,

8,8,8,7

8,8,8,8

When I can actually do 4x8, I’ll add weight. But again, I’m not choosing where to add the rep, I’m pushing to failure and my body chooses.

I stopped tracking calories a while ago, but I think the standard general advice is something like goal weight (lbs) x12. Now that’s for weight loss. Meaning a fat guy who wants to weight 200 lbs would eat (200x12) 2400 calories a day. To gain muscle slowly without adding a ton of fault you probably want like a 300 calorie surplus. So go (goal weight) x 12, +300. You could start there. Modern science is saying 0.7g of protein per pound of bodyweight is the optimal protein consumption. I always shoot for 1g per pound. Easier to count and I’d rather eat protein than carbs anyway. I feel better without carbs.

If you’re eating at a surplus to gain muscle, you’ll also gain some fat. If your surplus is low it won’t be much and if you’re carnivore and training hard you might actually lose fat.

For training, try to hit each muscle with 15-20 sets per week, and each of those sets should be to failure, or SUPER close to failure. In my experience that means you should be absolutely working as hard as you can, really struggling to put up the last few reps of every set. The number of reps isn’t crucial as long as it’s between 6 and 30. I try to do sets of varying rep ranges between 6 and 15.

r/bodybuilding and r/naturalbodybuilding are decent places. They’ll have links for training programs. PPL (push pull legs) is the current trend. I like bro splits. You’ll find it all there.

Carbs aren’t necessary to build muscle but they are optimal. That being said at your height and weight, if you eat a caloric surplus and train a lot to failure, you’ll see some muscle growth regardless. Really it’s up to you what you want to do. But you’re pretty skinny, man. You gotta bulk up.
