Who are your favorite ‘morally questionable’ women in TV/Film?
TV & Movies 🎬🍿Also
I aspire to be like her with the bumble bee stuffed toy
“You want the bumble bee?! * tosses it across the room * that is life and I’m the only one you can trust”
What a legend.
“I don’t care for GOB”
Such an evil mom, but goddamn is she funny.
We need to get rid of the Seaward.
“I’m right here…”
I KNEW she was gonna be here
she is my icon. i love her.
Annaliese Keating. Sometimes she’s awful….. sometimes she’s brilliant. Always an alcoholic.
"Sam... why is your penis on a dead girl's phone?" will go down in history
That fight scene made me believe that she was about to strangle that guy right then and there. No one does spousal fight scenes like Viola! She always knocks it out of the park 👑
was looking for this. shonda is literally the queen of making strong morally questionable leading women
Seriously though, in every single one of her major shows she has a morally questionable woman assorting the main character. Like 90% of the Gray's anatomy cast are morally questionable, Penelope featherington using her secret identity to destroy her enemies and her friends also being A character e you can really root for.
As soon I saw Olivia Pope I was like ok but uh… where Annalise!?
Mainly because Olivia popes scandal was one of the original shonda Rhimes girl but Annalise keating was that bitch-
I was looking for the 👑
Messiest and best!
"questionable" might be too positive to describe any of the always sunny gang but dee deserves a shout out
Honorable mention goes to Artemis.
"Gonna take off my bra BLAST MY NIPS"
Artemis is Chaotic Neutral and I’m all about it
This gif is killing me
I loved the scene where she’s interviewing the couple to be their surrogate and she just lies about so much shit, says no to having medical problems (she had a heart attack) and no to using drugs and alcohol despite the fact she loves crack and constantly drinks. Then manipulated them into letting her swim in their pool.
“Your license plate says scammin”
My username checks out
Apparently, I love them all lol
I'll add Blair Waldorf. She was the most exciting one and I watched only for her (and I tried to ignore both Serena and Chuck lol)
And of course Miss Paris Geller. The greatest friend at times and the most insane almost all the time.
I also had a soft spot for Bree from DH ! Her and Gabby were so interesting!
Don’t forget the Queen herself
Georgina’s not morally questionable, she’s completely morally bankrupt, no question. Bloody amazing character
On Gossip Girl, you can never make me hate Lily Van Der Woodsen
Love Blair too!
I was gonna answer Emily Gilmore actually. Paris is a great one too
I am 35 years old and watching The Gossip Girl for the first time. I want to be Blair when I grow up 😁
Selina Meyer.
The question is “who is morally questionable” not who is a straight up, self-serving, stone-cold queen. Fuck I miss Veep. Time for a rewatch.
I'm still salty about Gary.
Amy Brookhiemer is also severally underrated as a character too.
I think she'd be a better fit here. Selina is pretty evil.
I’m Wilhelmina Slater and I don’t get wet!
I love her. I hate her. I want to be her
What an icon Vanessa Williams is
We can’t kill her, it would just make her stronger!
Karen Walker 100%!!!
And Tammy too!
omg she's aunt gayle? "they'll cry ah, topsie at my autopsy"
Yes! Fun fact: she and her husband Nick Offerman are also the hippie pot-selling old couple in the episode where bob fires the kids 😂
Not sure there’s anything morally questionable about tammy! She’s straight up evil and I love her.
Why is she so far down this list!
Okay she should be higher. “I don’t know shit about fuck” is one of my favorite sayings now 😅
I’m from the MO Ozarks, Ruth did me proud.
Edit: I want to add that all my life I’ve seen Ozarkians portrayed as dumb, lazy bumpkins in TV & movies. Ruth broke that mold. I’m forever grateful for the writers & Julia Garner for portraying Ruth as a sharp, strong, hard working woman who takes no shit from anyone.
I love her so much. She scared the hell out of me at the start of the series but I grew to love her quickly.
“I don’t know shit about fuck”
Nadja of Antipaxos, my love
And her doll!
Rebecca Bunch (and all the other women from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend).
The situations a lot more nuanced than that!!!!!
But she’s a good person, that's her thing. Her nickname is Mother Teresa Luther King!
I’m the villain in my own story!!
The type of gal who makes you wanna lay down a towel and party 'til it's dry
She's the bessssst. You know everything she's doing in those first few seasons is beyond fucked up but you still root for her....and Paula too, totally unhinged but endlessly loveable. Such a perfect show 😍
She was the first one I thought of, so glad to see this comment.
“Say I’m a good person or I’ll gut you like a fish!”
Loved her. And Olena too. They'd have been good for Westeros.
Ugh she was my favorite character on GoT. Utterly ruthless but still sweet. And, in the end, just outplayed. Long live the Tyrell’s 🌹
Oh yesss I really loved Margaret’s character
This gal right here.
She got the worst redemption arc ever. The most interesting queen bee turned boring. Justice for Alison.
The writers fumbled 😭 but i mean, not just with Alison. With like...everything
From It’s Always Sunny to the Mick, love her.
She's very good in Hacks tbh. Glad that she's finding success outside Sunny.
Omg I LOVE The Mick!! That show is hilarious and so underrated
Petra from Jane the Virgin
The way her queer storyline awoke something in me
I’m doing a rewatch right now… ugh, so good
Siobhan "Shiv" Roy baby
Love her and that extremely emotionally damaged/morally corrupt family
"Fuck you, Plastic Jesus" is such a solid burn.
And Kendall roy with the kendallest comeback, "You're a fucking twaat"
Btw love you're username haha
I named my Shiba Inu after her lol - love my Shiv baby
Sarah Michelle Gellar as Kathryn Merteui in Cruel Intentions
She taught me things I didn’t know about the human body
She's outright evil tho
Was coming to post her
Emily is snobby, cutting, hilarious perfection.
Upvoted to a million. She was a mess but I love her
Fine I’ll rewatch Gilmore Girls
it should not have taken me this long to find carmela soprano come ON
Amen. The best of the best 💅 Rosalie Aprile also deserves a shout-out: "Fuckin' nosey! Eat your manicott'!!"
There’s my girl. Now where the hell is Janice?
honestly every single female character in that entire show even my queen adriana
Took way too fucking long to get down here. She and Nurse Jackie.
I feel like Addison is one of the least morally questionable characters in GA lol
Everyone is morally questionable on Grey's.
You definitely see more of her questionable stuff in Private Practice, but she's still the best character in both series. An icon.
The dream team
I’m just an Edina, looking for my Patsy.
I say this with love
Same tho, Liz, same.
I don’t want to sound racist, but that pita pocket might be a terrorist!
…does that sound racist?
She’s more straight-up evil in later seasons but early Selina fits this well
Love to hate Fiona
Joy, my name is earl
Moira Rose is my lighthearted answer. Rude? Yes. Ignorant? Often. Good mother? Sometimes. Narcissistic? Absolutely.
An absolute slay of a woman. Unquestionably so. Also I just really wanted to look at Moira gifs because she’s the gift that keeps gifting.
Definitely Keri as Elizabeth in the Americans and Gillian as Bedelia in Hannibal!
The Americans is criminally underrated!! And I love that Keri and Matthew got together irl 💜💜
was going down the thread to see if anyone’s posted her… she may be a soviet spy but she is MY soviet spy 😡😡
Daenerys Targaryen. I will love her til I die.
The way she was treated in the final seasons will always make me viscerally angry.
My Queen.
Low key she was the most moral of them all
Samantha’s moral code is questionable but it’s consistent, and she never lies or misleads anyone. Charlotte is a little snobby but doesn’t do anything offensive or harmful. Miranda is judgmental but usually her assessment is spot-on. Carrie always rationalizes her self-involved behavior, no matter who she hurts. She’s supposed to be an anti-hero but because she’s stereotypically feminine it goes over some viewers’ heads
Maybe I don’t remember but how was she morally questionable?
Maybe morally questionable is a stretch, but I’m rewatching Downton as I cluster pump for my baby and I am forever in love with what a stone cold bitch Lady Mary can be.
She would have definitely been considered morally questionable for that time lol
I can't find the scene but when Andy just knocks the coffee drink out of Nancy's hand was Cathartic for all the bullshit she pulled.
she's the worst 😭 there's a scene where she's drinking a coffee AND a diet coke at the same time, and it kills me
What!? her and Abby are perfectection!
“I can excuse the racism, but I draw the line at animal cruelty!”
Oh, Britta's in this?
A Saint in comparison to her male colleagues
For a women in 60's and 70's she was phenomenal
I LOVE her character. People in the Mad Men sub once tried to paint her as strict and bitchy (eye roll) but she's really kind to Peggy when she first starts, she's respected by her team members and literally holds the company together at some points.
The dudes in the mad men sub just don’t understand the women. They all think Betty is the devil incarnate and I just can’t with their shallow media literacy
Oh my god the way they verbatim believe the whack psychiatrist that she “has the emotions of a child” at face value is so infuriating.
Like every single male character doesn’t have temper tantrums, petty jealousies and act on impulse at every turn????
And how they make fun of her for her “I’m not stupid, I speak italian” line. She IS smart! She also happens to epitomize the woman that Betty Friedan (them sharing the same name is not an accident!) wrote about in the Feminine Mystique! Her ambitions were shot down from birth and imo the biggest tragedy of the show was
She's such a powerful character and a woman ofcourse people would give shit sometimes and you're right on all counts
Kim Wexler - Better Call Saul
Came here to say this. Absolutely phenomenal character and actress.
can't believe I had to scroll so far for Kim!!
Yellowjackets
All of them! All of the female characters!!
It’s an entire show filled with morally ambiguous messy chaotic women doubled considering there’s two timelines.
It’s a feral girl horror utopia!
Love this show! Feminine rage personified.
To me Gilmore Girls is a lighter version of Mildred Pierce and is about the gradual downfall of Rory Gilmore. Nothing can convince me otherwise!
Nothing gave me a more sour feeling than the revival. I was Rory's age when it debuted so I felt like I grew up with her. Looking back you could absolutely see how she went so off the rails but I think a part of me will always feel a sense of betrayal for her trajectory. It was my absolute favorite show in high school.
Yeah I think everything that was in the revival was supposed to happen in her last years at college and not several years later which makes the revival super depressing. I’m not a fan of the revival either but I love exploring Rory as more morally grey as the series goes on.
I see your Scandal nominee and raise you the greatest character in that show:
OMGG YESS. She so suited to this title, girlie was the most relatable demon ever
Maybe an unpopular opinion, but she was the best character in the whole show.
Okay now I’m just really upset I didn’t find this one when I searched 😂
❤️
This Queen…Kerry from This Country.
She’s incredibly lazy. Made an old lady think she going hungry just so she could have double dinners. Got sacked from her job at the recycling centre because she was pinching things. Shes horrible to the Rev. But still..a Queen
Oh Jackie. So messed up but so 🔥
Speaking of Edie Falco
Edie Falco is just so damn good as that character. The things Jackie does are just so messy but played with so much heart. It also helps that Merritt Weaver is an absolute light in it.
appropriately named Queen Maeve.
Annalise Keating all day everyday
Yep, she’s my favorite!!!
Lady Featherington
I really enjoyed Bebe Glazer on Frasier, she was just great.
Betty Draper. I just love that show ❤️
Awe there’s only one that lives rent free in my mind. Queen of all Karen’s 😂
Kalinda is one of the reasons it's The Great Wife
These lovely ladies from Hacks
Julie, Marissa’s mom, from the OC
These Queens.
Blanche Devereaux
Just finished Ugly Betty and I just love Amanda.
