![What's on her nose?](https://preview.redd.it/78wjnkkmnj9d1.jpeg?auto=webp&s=48cf9ca3601d759e0ca73eca7d1c384ee76b1857)
My cat has cryptococcosis. It's been a long battle for 2 years now! He's surviving but my god getting a diagnosis was terrifying.
What’s the treatment?
Currently anti fungal tablets (human meds, not for use in cats.....and very expensive) twice a day. But follow up bloods every 3 months (also very expensive) because the anti fungals can cause liver and kidney toxicity.
It took a lot of different medications and tests to figure out what was wrong with the poor dude. So thankful we still have him
Damn. Fungi start to evolve in Mammals ? Reminds me of the "Last of Us" Scene
Wait until you get thrush. Same fungus as athlete' foot. In your genitals. Or mouth
Keep clean
Getting thrush in your mouth (or elsewhere) does not necessarily have anything to do with staying clean; my husband got a stubborn case of oral thrush from being put on two highly potent antibiotics for an internal infection. I cautioned him about taking those without starting probiotics, but he didn’t listen until after he heard it from the doctor. 🤷🏼♀️
Asthma medications and other medications that cause dry mouth also increase the likelihood of a thrush outbreak as well. The fungus that usually causes thrush (candida something) is often just a part of the mouth microbio and lives on our body in general, it's just kept in check by other parts of our microbiome/immune system. Like you said, it has little to nothing to do with hygiene.
True enough, my inhale has a risk of thrush every time I use it. So I brush and rinse right after.
That’s why, as a Respiratory Therapist, I have my patients swish and spit water out after taking inhaled steroids. They can cause a major case of thrush.
It’s the steroid medication in them. Steroids lower your immune system so the overgrowth of “bad” fungi and bacteria can’t be fought off as efficiently by the “good” ones.
(candida something)
Candida albicans.
Yikes this is a double whammy for me as I have a cat that takes 2 different inhalers, every 12 hours. Asthma sucks. Glad to be learning new things every single day. Thanks
Why did I read that as "canada"?
I wish him the best of health on his recovery
Is he diabetic? Coming off antibiotics while the immune system is compromised by high a1c can cause thrush
Thrush and fungus in general doesn’t have to do with being clean.
I get it in my esophagus all the time. I have it right now. It has nothing to do with not being clean. You can get it from taking antibiotics or steroids. I get it because of my inhaler.
Is thrush the same as yeast infection? I had that once when I was around 18. I make sure every nook and cranny is totally dry after the shower. I’ve never had one again.
There are really nasty fungal infections out there. Systemic yeast infections (is invasive candidiasis) can be deadly 45-75% lethality. Also the same fungus. Keep clean and dry...
I got thrush in my mouth for drinking powdered gatorade mixed in water. Went away as soon as I stopped.
....you don't think this is a "new phenomenon" do you? Ever heard of athletes foot?
If you are in the US and get the meds from a regular human pharmacy make sure they’re using a discount card, it can be hard to find one that works for vets but they exist and can make a huge difference
Thank you. Not in the US, but I'm sure your comment will help out other Americans!
Yes you should always ask to get the written script or have them call it in to a pharmacy, the mark ups vets charge is astronomical. Now don’t get me wrong I get that they need to pay their bills too but when it comes to if it means you can afford or not afford to help your pets any bit helps.
My cat has been on fluconazole for cryptococcus for almost the past year, I pay to have specialty compounded treats which are about $60 a month because I didn’t want to deal with compounding them myself or shoving them down my cats throat twice a day. It’s only about $15 or so for the tablets at a regular pharmacy through goodrx/similar discount card.
Much love to you and your little dude 💗
Bless you for going through that journey with your baby, rather than choosing the easy way out. Your kitty is lucky to have you
Thank you! I was not giving up on him.
Even if he is a very grumpy monkey who only loves me at 3am or whenever he manipulates me into handfuls of dreamies
I love his ring on his tail!
He looks really healthy - is it misleading or is he going to be okay? I also LOVE his little lemur ring tail! I've been warned not to Google this condition; how do they get it?
This photo was just this week and at the moment he is healthy. A couple of years ago was a different story! He was weak, lost so much weight and covered in lumps. We got the lumps removed at the vet thinking it was cancer and after 2 rounds of surgery and lots of experimenting with medications, he ended up blind as well since the infection is in his brain. I always look at him nowadays and I can't believe how much he's come along since. I had to syringe feed him soft foods and water.
EYA- we are unsure how he got it, it's really quite rare where I live. Our best educated guess is that there was an infected bird population that had migrated over and he sniffed/licked the bird 💩 and it got into his system that way. But really it's anyone's guess. Our vet practice had never come across this before and we ended up sending an awful lot of samples off to the US. Once his treatment is fully complete, we're hoping for a paper or case study to be done on him!
I think referring to (presumably) euthanasia as being "the easy way out" is a crappy take. I get where you're coming from, but euthanizing an animal, pet, or loved one, is a very hard choice.
I basically inherited our family's cat, a kitten, when I got my first job at 16. He was 2 years old when he started peeing blood, crying out in agony. I will never forget the sounds he made.
I was 18, expected to foot a $3,000 treatment for crystals in his urine, that they said "probably wouldn't help." My grandma, who had cared for thousands of strays in her lifetime, and the vet, both insisted that I put him down.
I worked 60 hours a week, making minimum wage, and STILL could not afford the treatment to keep him alive. Of course, I would have loved to give him another chance, but I couldn't. His death affected me in ways I can't even explain. He was my best friend, and also, the only death I had ever experienced at that time. It wasn't an easy choice in the slightest.
TLDR: You don't know what people are dealing with and euthanizing an animal over a very expensive medical treatment isn't the "easy way out."
One of my boys had crystals in his urine. I was lucky and caught it before he got to the peering blood stage. I did have to pay $800 just for the X-rays. The vet wanted me to switch him which meant him and his brother because they eat next to each other on the overpriced Hills Science Diet. At the time I was trying to feed them organic non grain, etc high end food that cost a lot but a lot less than the Hills food which isn’t organic or grain free. I tried a bunch of stuff and eyed up with Iams dry food for urinary health and iams wet for indoor cats. It’s not organic or grain free but neither was the Hills stuff. They like it and it’s reasonably priced.
I love the little guy and I’m so glad I caught it early.
Gosh I feel that. My 2 year old kitty has been on fluconozle for 1.5 years now. We stopped about 4 months ago for a month since her titers came back clear and it started to go back up after a month so she had a continuation. Came back with itraconozole and it did some damage to her liver so we swapped her back to fluc. with some hepatic help from standard process. It's expensive. Ugh
Trigger warning if you search for images of condition!
Omg I wish I saw this before googling :( Those poor cats.
Yes, google images were bad, open wound looking injuries. Poor kitties :(
I was not expecting what I saw in the images. What a sad, destructive, horrible thing to happen to an animal.
We just lost our Tom Cruise to a 4 year fight against Cryptococcus. This looks a lot like that.
Dafuq did he say to get 896 downvotes ? lol
A joke about going all in on crypto
Then he deserves it.
It's ringworm. The cat I fostered last year had it all over his face, too.
Guess who caught it.
Gross lol luckily that’s easy to treat. Hopefully that’s what OPs cat has but also hoping they take her in to get checked
Veterinary assistant here. The photo is blurry so it's hard to tell but I agree with the other comments. It could also be allergies/fleas and she's scratching at her nose making it raw, so if you're not giving her any flea prevention you should look into giving some.
Edit: For clarity OP, regardless of if its fleas or not, you should have your cat be seen by a vet!
I’m one too. But OP should go to the vet. That really should be our first piece of advice.
I mean, who doesn’t take their precious animal to the vet seeing this on their nose, at the first signs of it
OP do better
This … it’s beyond me how anyone could simply see this and NOT go to the vet; clearly it can’t be comfortable for their kitty … I don’t get it.
When you don't have money for tests and visit the doctor you suffer so do your cat! People need help not criticism
I didn’t mean to criticize. I’ve gone to the vet when I couldn’t afford it. They never turned me away; I guess I was insistent! They were just as concerned as I was. I paid whatever I could following services and the rest was billed with a payment plan. I hope OP and kitty will be ok. Be nice if there is as a Reddit pet fund page …
Not all vets do payment plans, unfortunately
Ok. It makes me sad to see fur kids in pain and their families can’t do anything….
Yeah, and it’s awful for the people who are watching their fur baby suffer and can’t do anything to help them. One of my friends tried to give her cat to me so she could attempt to take her life because she felt so heartbroken and helpless to be able to do nothing for her cat. People aren’t awful for not rushing to the vet instantly. It just simply isn’t in the cards for them. People fall on hard times. People lose everything. People think giving your pets away is heartless, but then when you’re too poor to rush them to the vet they’re seen as heartless again. You can’t win when you’re poor. You’re a hunk of shit in everyone’s eyes just for existing.
The families that can’t do anything are far more sad and in far more pain about it than you. Full stop. Take your feelings and times them by a million, and that’s how the owners feel. They feel awful. They feel worthless. They feel helpless. They don’t need judgement and upset from others. Not helpful.
Not everyone can afford a vet and not every vet offers payment plans. I used to be an animal control officer and in cases of neglect that got reported and was bad enough to be in serious violation, they either had two options: see a low cost vet that I offered or surrender the animal. We always hoped people would choose the former but not everyone could. Thankfully the vet that we offered was extremely low cost. Bad side though, because they were low cost, it would take people weeks to see the vet because of everyone using their services. In that time, the problem could potentially get worse or in cases where immediate care was needed, many people found themselves either forfeiting their animals due to worries of emergency vet costs or gambling that our local charity fund would help them pay for the cost of care. It's not always an owners direct fault--a lot of people I worked with just needed educating and guidance.
Yeah, that's what I meant by I agree with the other comments. This needs to be seen and potentially do a skin impression to see what all is growing and causing the issue.
Ah, I understand. I’m just worried that OP sees your comment and that you’re in vet med and assumes all they need is flea treatment.
Exactly!
Bring her to vet ASAP!! idk what is this infection call but this will get worse
Bring her to the vet
2nd, this guy! Reddit ain't got shit on a medical professional in the flesh.
You need to take that cat to the vet ASAP
Go to a vet, we had a cat years ago and her nose went exactly like this, turned out to be cancer 😔
Yep my mom had a cat that had nose cancer. It began similarly to this. The cat lived a surprisingly long time but poor baby lost big chunks of her nose late stage. The kitty died right before my mom was going to put her down due to it getting too bad and causing breathing issues. My mom was heartbroken but relieved that she passed with natural causes.
Same thing happened to me.
Yes. I remember going to visit my brother and his cat had something like that. I immediately thought cancer, they finally took the cat in, turned out to be cancer and she had part of her nose cut away. She was fine after that though, lived a long life, maybe still alive I don’t know as they went overseas and left cat with other family.
I agree best have a vet visit
That looks really bad. Needs a vet.
„it doesn‘t seem to bother her“😵💫 how long were you planning to wait before bringing her to the vet?😬
Right ? It's astonishing how stupid, irresponsible and naive a lot of people are.
Hi! Infection, will get worse. Take cat to vet 👍🏻
Animals dont show pain facually the way we do. She is probably in a lot of pain but just cant show it.
PLEASE TAKE YOUR CAT TO A VET!!!!!
Hard to tell from the picture, but from what it looks like, it's what my cat had most of her life. She was allergic to mosquitos and they would bite her and she scratched a lot. We ended up having to keep her inside during the summer for a few weeks to help her heal.
Holy shit why do you need Reddit to tell you to take your cat to the vet
Take your cat to a vet.
We have a rescue named OC (office cat) that had something very similar on her nose and it was due to mosquito allergy. She is strictly indoors now but at the time she was a lot cat at our business we took care of. Finally go her friendly enough to take to the vet and it was a quick antibiotic fix. With that said If she continued to live outside she would always have been like this and even worse. She has a mini break out every once in a while since her main living space in on our screened in front porch ( her choice since she has a cat door to go in and out of the house as she chooses) The little minis tend to heal on there own since she is not constantly getting bit up
It's safest to just go to the vet. It could be a number of thing - bug bites (causing her to scratch/rub that area), a skin infection, skin cancer, an allergy etc.
It clearly is bothering her, it looks like she's been rubbing at it.
OP bring your cat to the vet please. Shit if you can’t afford it say so here and I would help chip in.
Mosquito bite allergy
It's probably mosquitos, which happens to my outdoor kitty during the summer. The nose is one of the few places mosquitoes can get them. They do make a mosquito repellent for cats and dogs you can use.
why don't you take your cat to the vet
My kitty gets this in summer time from the mosquitoes. It’s likely a reaction to that but go to the vet to be sure.
Yes, My kitty does too. We take her to the vet and they just tell us she is allergic to them. We try to keep her inside during the summer but she will potty in front of us and really act like a brat if we keep her inside too much
My vet told me last week a cat can have half a zyrtec (5mg) for allergies. A full pill is 10mg.
Does she go outside at all? One of my cats’ noses looked very similar, and it turned out to be mosquito bites. The scabs were from him scratching due to itchiness. They were all over his nose and above his eyes where his fur was the thinnest.
Could be anything from a bad case of ringworm, which is highly contagious but easily treatable, something fungal, mange or even cancer. You won't get the right answer on the interweb like this.
We got an antibiotic ointment from the vet for something similar looking and it cleared right up. I’d make a vet appointment so they can tell you for sure what it is
VET!!!
Yes vet asap 😻
My cat was a stray before I adopted him, and his nose looked like this most of the time I saw him. When I adopted him he just had the scars on his nose, I asked the vet and they said it was mosquitos. Since he is an indoor cat now he has never had it again.
I noticed a couple sores like this in my kitty about a month or so ago. I took him to the vet. It was a really random symptom that led them to do some bloodwork and he was diagnosed with FelV, and his outlook was very bleak based on the bloodwork and him not being able to heal himself. Luckily we worked really hard to get him better. I would recommend taking your kitty to the vet asap.
I’d just take her to the vet. You’d go to the doctor if your nose looked like that, I hope and if your kid looked like that, I’d hope you take them to a doctor. Why not take your cat to the vet?
Looks fungal I’d take her to the vet asap
I would take her to get treatment. Please keep us posted. Sending you and her good vibes.
It's ringworm. Please go to the vet because it's very contagious.
Could be scabies or something similar my cat had it when he was a stray
Its a vet visit thats what it is
I would make an appointment with a veterinary dermatologist as they can likely give you a diagnosis on the first visit. I’m an ex derm vet tech and a number of things come to mind but it’s hard to tell with just a picture.
Go to a vet for heaven's sake.
this is a fungal infection and it spreads to other cats and sometimes humans, you have to take her to a vet
I would also ask about Pemphigus foliaceus, an auto-immune disease. My cat had it on his paw pads. You may require a visit to a vet who specializes in dermatology, but you'll at least want a biopsy or skin scraping to confirm.
A vet visit is the best move forward. But! Contrary to other comments here I believe this look like a mosquito allergy. Is she outside at all? My local stray got this last summer when those ankle biters were bad. I’ve since moved her into my home and she doesn’t get that anymore.
Edit: and if she is outside, an indoor kitty life is the best way to go. Saves you both a lot of heartache.
what do you mean you never took her to the vet before??????????? if I saw that on my kitty, we'd be STRAIGHT there. why are you even debating not doing anything?
if OP's cat had it's leg twisted the other way but wasn't showing signs of pain, they probably wouldn't do anything about it.
don't have cats, OP.
I'm sorry your baby is experiencing this. I'm glad that it doesn't appear to be bothering her; we never want our babies to suffer. Because it doesn't look very good, it certainly doesn't look normal, it's a recurrent thing, and it's on your baby's face/head (a really dangerous spot should infection, etc. spread), it would be best to seek veterinary care if at all possible.
I am sorry at the things some other commenters are saying to you for just seeking advice for your cat.
This isn't directed to you, but to some of the holier-than-thou assholes on here:
I am honestly floored at how mean and judgmental some people can be. Not everyone has easy geographic, financial, etc. access to veterinary care. (Regarding financial access, the last time I took my cat to the vet just for a checkup, it was over $200. Not everybody has that lying around; a lot of people don't. And had my cat needed meds, etc. treatment on top of the checkup, that would have been all that much more money on top of it.) Some people have complex feelings and traumatic histories surrounding western medical intervention, including veterinary care. There are other nuances. All of which make all of you who are quick to shout such terrible things about OP's treatment of their cat and their asking advice on reddit before going to a vet both ignorant and cruel.
Yes, I just took the dog back to the vet for a sore hind leg not improving and the X-rays were $1000. We had that, because I am a physician but lots of people don’t and it still made my husbeast groan (and made me wonder why I didn’t go to veterinary school). People don’t need to be so mean in the comments.
Hopefully your dog gets on the mend soon!
And yes, 💯
It’s not a surgical problem ( which would have been another $4K), but he’s 7 and has been kind of a maniac about trucks driving by. He has to be tied up or he will take off after the FedEx, UPS and postal trucks going by on the road below. We also have bears here, and first thing in the morning he runs out and jerks his whole body when he reaches the end of the line. The vet says it’s ligament strain and arthritis in his hips. In other words he has kind of trashed his hind legs behind a numbskull about the world around him! I am thinking of trying acupuncture but he also hates going to the vet, more than most dogs, so he has to be sedated for lots of stuff. Rescued from a bad situation and he has always been over-reactive and neurotic. Luckily he loves children and other dogs and he looks like a stuffed animal so he gets away with being crazy.
Omg he is so cute and also sounds like such a handful! Wishing him a speedy recovery and yall some peace of mind finally haha
Did you intentionally write husbeast? That is honestly the funniest thing I've read in a while, so thank you! 🤣🤣🤣
A reason to go to a vet and not trust internot experts.
I see a "run, don't walk" priority visit to the vet here. I hope your baby feels better soon!
Go to the vet.
I had a cat that would get something like this on her nose and ears, turned out to be mosquito bites.
i used to work in animal dermatology, and this looks a lot like mosquito exposure. normal flea/tick prevention won't help with this, you'll have to keep her inside as much as possible. if kitty continues to go outside and get bit, her nose will turn raw/red until she has enough time indoors to heal.
vet appointments, especially to a dermatologist (who are often booked months out) can be expensive. i'd recommend keeping her inside for a few weeks and seeing if the nose clears. if not, go to your primary vet. if it's been longer than 2 months with rdvm working on her, i'd consider making an appointment with a veterinary dermatologist. my clinic in specific was booked out 3-4 months before their next available appointment & it was an expensive visit.
of course, listen to your gut and do what you can. cat people are crazy - that's why we're on this subreddit. take the comments with a grain of salt or just completely disregard the judgemental people.
This happened to my cat and it looked exactly like this. I took him to multiple vets trying to figure out what was wrong. One day I finally saw the mosquitos on him and realized what was wrong. I stopped letting him outside for a month and it completely cleared up and healed. None of the vets could figure out the issue and it cost me a lot of money for zero help. I'm not saying this is it in this case, but if you let your cat outside, try stopping this behavior.
Your cat's nose is rotting away and apparently has for some time and instead of taking her to the vet you wait and ask a bunch of strangers on reddit for their "expert" opinion ?
Sorry to say but some people just shouldn't be trusted to take care of animals.
You should probably not be posting on Reddit lol.
Why? At least the OP is showing concern about the cat. Get off your high horse.
My black cat had the same thing and I’ve been told by two different vets that it’s basically a reaction to mosquito bites. For my cat they give her a type of injection which helps make them go away. Also if you can limit your cat’s outside time if they are indoor/outdoor. I would take you kitty to the vet asap. These dots can get worse and if you see bleeding of any kind you don’t want to let that go on for too long. The vet may also recommend hydrocortisone to rub on the nose as well. Hope this helps!
mosquito bite allergy, this will clear it up https://images.app.goo.gl/aJoh7WKaLExgfPqD8
My outdoor cat had something like that. Once it got into her ear it was over.
Mosquitos
My cat has a very tiny version of this on his nose, it’s because he started hiding in dusty crusty cabinets in our new apartment all day long. I banned him from it and now it’s getting better
Could be allergies or a side effect of medication. My cat had medication for epilepsy, dog medication since it is so rare in cats they did not have medication for cats. A side effect was skin necrosis. It looked like this. We stopped using the medication and it got better.
! Actually it looks like feline acne. See a vet it's curable. Hopefully that's all it could be. But there are many other things like skin cancer or fungo infections. I wish you my best you and your kitty 🐈
Time for a vet visit unfortunately. If cost is an issue ask about interest free options. Usually there’s some form of interest free credit programs you can pay back over 6-12 months
Why does every black cat look like my cats or a combination between them??
Also, Yes do as everyone else says, bring her to a vet
Wow that looks terrible & painful! Whatever it is seems to now spread to her eye. PLEASE GET THIS BABY TO A VET ASAP! U’ve waited long enough. Praying for u both!
Please take her immediately to the vet and get it checked
A vet visit
Mosquito allergy. I just dealt with this myself. Apparently they love black cats. Take her to the vet for some meds.
Poor lil guy...
It's tough when you need a skin doctor for your pet... The easy way to approach would be a specialist, or a Doctor Who know the condition already...See this thing on dogs but not on cat! Similar look yes but I'm not sure....
I’ve seen this on dogs and some cats that are drinking tap water so if your cats drinking tap maybe get a filter or give bottled water
It doesn’t appear to bother her???
You should take them to the vet to be sure. My cat got pemphigus that started as little spots and rapidly got worse. The first vet took months to get him on the right medicine to clear it up, but I took him to a cat vet with the next flare up that recognized it immediately. My cat is better now but has some bald spots.
Poor baby. I hope she recovers soon.
Plsss take her to the vet
Looks very much like mosquito allergy. Had one that we took in when FIL died. If your cat is outdoor bring inside and it will start healing. Will happen again if they are outside and bit by mosquito. Didn’t have to do anything for ours other than keep inside.
Could be ring worm or hypersensitivity to insect bites. Cryptococcosis tends to cause more swelling. Get it checked it.
One of my black ferals gets this every summer. Mosquito allergy.
That looks like a sporo infection to me. Bring your car to a nearest mechanic quickly before it gets even worse.
Mosquito allergy. It's common in cats. Not dangerous in itself, but it can get infected if the cat scratches it.
Often accompanied by bumps and scabs on the ears.
Looks like ring worm.
My cat gets these bumps on her nose/cheeks/ears during summer. (Not as bad as this picture) but they turned out to be mosquito bites.
Outside cat? Mosquito bites for my $0.02. Had a void with the exact same thing and it took a while to figure it out. Looked exactly like that. Does it heal up when it gets colder? No skeeters.
Now that you know it could be potentially be deadly for your cat if not treated or taken care of , I hope you’re on your way to the vet!!! People come on here asking for help then don’t do shit about it so I hope you’re not one of those shitty people!!! Hope your cat gets well soon
Take this cat to a vet!!!
My cat (outside) always looked like this, starting in late spring early summer when the mosquitoes 🦟 got here (central Texas). They would eat her up when she was outside. There wasn’t really anything we could do to “cure” it except keep her inside during the worst of the hot days. As soon as the mosquitoes were gone, she would heal up and be fine the rest of the year.
We tried all sorts of solutions but none worked very well or very long.
I see this a lot in black cats, especially during summer months. My vet said it was an allergy to fly bites. I put coconut oil on my cat's ears, where he gets his every year, and they clear up
My cat used to get this. The vet said it was mosquito bite/fly sensitivity. Basically, an allergic reaction. I would give her Benadryl from time to time but the only thing that helped was keeping her inside - she was indoor/outdoor, mostly just lounging in the backyard. I was skeptical at first but it happened to coincide with summer, when mosquitos were most active. Every winter/fall it would heal. We eventually moved to an apartment and it never happened again.
My drive-by diagnosis is Mosquito Bite Hypersensitivity. If you're in an area where mosquitos are bad and your cat spends any time outdoors, it's a possibility. I had a cat with it that only went outside in a screened catio. Ironically, she was black, too. This photo shows another black cat with the condition. *
VET NOW! Ask for fungal and bacterial cultures from the area, including less obvious strains. Ask them to check for cancer. plus Blood tests to check major organ functions. Good luck
Please take kitty to the vet!
Vet first. Hopefully it’s nothing serious.
Then, if vet isn’t helpful, check out the plants where kitty is playing and sleeping. My mum's kitty had a recurring patch of irritated skin on her face… the vet would give her cream to ease the symptoms, but they didn’t know what was causing it. It came back annually.
Turned out she liked to sleep under a lilac bush beside a clump of day lilies, which are known for causing issues for cats.
Check her nails could be a nail discord her shows up on their noses too it’s called like pemfigus
Hoping for the best and hoping you can get her to the vet asap.
God damn, take your fucking cat to the vet! That shit didn't get like that overnight and you've wasted a fucking week and now you're going to ask people on Reddit what the fuck they think it is? Do you not give a fuck about your animal? Take that fucking poor thing to the vet! Next time, don't fucking waste your time asking Reddit a goddamn thing when your cat looks fucked up like that. Take it to the goddamn vet now!
Something a Vet should look at to find out, not reddit.
Take your cat to the god damn vet, not the internet.
Take her to a vet.
Take the cat to the vet.
You know who can answer that? A veterinarian. Get your poor cat to the vet.
it looks like a visit to the vet bro
Go to the fucking vet. God I hate the internet.
Take your cat to the vet or give it to someone who will give it the care it needs instead of pretending that lesions “don’t bother her.” Jesus Christ.
Wow….im just going to say it’s time to be an owner and take them to the vet, that looks terrible.
I see this a lot in black cats, especially during summer months. My vet said it was an allergy to fly bites. I put coconut oil on my cat's ears, where he gets his every year, and they clear up
Do you all ever stop and think that just maybe the person doesn’t have the money to take the cat to the vet so therefore looking for other solutions. I know it’s not helping the cat you also have to be sure whatever this cat has is not contagious to humans. If money is the issue pls call Humane Society or some rescues looking to seek help for your cat .
Don’t just ask Reddit! Bring her to the vet!
Oh poor baby! Please get her to a vet asap...
I cant be sure but to me it looks a lot like take-your-cat-to-the-vet
What’s on her nose? Clearly a disease.
Why are you posting on reddit instead of taking her to a vet?
why reddit users ask a community for a diagnosis before rushing their pets to a vet is beyond me
An emergency vet visit. Jfc.
Several options. Mosquito allergy, fleas allergy, dermatitis, or fungus. Those are the easy answers. Autoimmune more complex. Needs to see a veterinarian for an actual diagnosis
It's probably a fungus infection. I have been paranoid about things like this since (1980) my cat had "acne and blackheads" on his chin. After 2 years of antibiotics, creams and food changes, the 4th vet asked me if I fed him in plastic bowls (old margarine tubs or the like), or did he rub up against anything plastic. I did both! Changing to ceramic, glass or metal bowls fixed it! Also took down the corner protectors where he rubbed his face. After that, I used wide painters tape on those corners. When they got dirty, I changed the tape!
Please get her to the vet, that’s pretty painful and serious
How does one let their cat get this bad then proceed to ask reddit rather than go to the vet?
No offense but maybe instead of asking Reddit just bring her to the vet.
If she's been in your care for more than a few days, it's neglect to let it get to this point. She needs immediate medical attention. If you don't take her in right away, you don't deserve this cat. Why even waste time posting it online? It's clearly already eaten into the end of her little nose. You're a neglectful human.
Dude wtf take your cat to the vet. Cats are notorious for not showing pain
Updates??
i am NO professional— please, always take ur cat to the vet for a professional opinion. when my partner & i adopted our black cat from the shelter, he formed a similar “rash” on his face, by his nose & right eye. we found out the hard way that it was ringworm from the shelter & he needed immediate treatment & quarantine. it could’ve gotten so much worse & could’ve threatened his vision, immune system, etc., if we would’ve waited any longer to go to the vet. again, please, take ur cat to the vet ASAP!
Please take them to the vets! Wishing you all the best!
It may be fungi. But it is better to take him to a veterinarian to know exactly. Maybe he just scratched himself.
Looks like ringworm. Very contagious. Need to see a vet for meds
Possibly ringworm. As every one said, the picture is blurry. Get it looked at by a vet for a diagnosis.
Mine developed a cancerous tumor in his nose and would scratch it. He was over 20 years old. Please see your vet.
Maybe an allergy to plastic eating bowls my cat is no longer with us but he got it on his bottom of his chin and his nose and it got pretty bad for a while all we had to do was keep it clean and give him ceramic eating bowls things to eat out of. I'm so sad for the little fellow but he'll get better if you take him to the vet
Am I crazy for seeing some dude from the back head tilted slightly to the right?
Mosquito bite allergy
Possibly cryptococcosis, a type of fungal infection. This is unfortunately very serious if this is what she has. Wishing you luck. Take her in to the vet
