All of Michigan could see Northern Lights on Friday night: What to know
NewsWe got a sunny day for the eclipse, so this is all house money
Even if the forecast said it would be clear, it’d still be cloudy
Aurora Borealis?!
At THIS time of year, at THIS time of day, in THIS part of the country, LOCALIZED ENTIRELY WITHIN THIS PENINSULA?!?!
May I see it?
“No.” The weather probably
The secret awaits eyes unclouded by ambition

I can taste the steamed hams now!
That's an Albany expression.
I had to look up if there was an Albany in Michigan since there are several towns named the same as towns in NY. There's Albany Bay & Albany Island close to Drummond Island.
Hadn't thought about there not being a community in Michigan named for Albany which is odd since so many of Michigan's original settlers were from New York, Empire State names proliferate:
Utica, Rochester, Genesee, Mount Morris, Lansing, Ithaca, New Buffalo, New Troy, Watervliet...but not Albany.
Can I see it?
Only if you’re also cooking up some steamed hams.
Even though they are obviously grilled?
In this economy?!?!?
Good Lord, what is going on in your backyard?
Ohhh just my burning roast.
You call Big Bufords burning roasts, despite the fact that they are obviously grilled?
At this time of year? At this time of day? In this part of the country? Localized entirely within your Mitten?
Can I see it?
No ~Clouds
Lighting the beacon. We have a dragonfly problem.
(Mid-Michigan area) Partly Cloudy, there's a Chance!
By the hour WB has west Michigan clearing towards the end of the day. Labeled mostly sunny currently.
about a week too late for someone who i knew would have loved to see this
Title is phrased poorly. What they mean is, “all of Michigan has a chance of seeing the northern lights on Friday” (tomorrow)
not really what i meant, my mom passed away earlier this week and would have loved to see this, so as cool as this news is, i don't know how i feel about it now
Oh dear, I misunderstood and am so sorry to hear that…I don’t know if you are a spiritual person, but perhaps this is her bringing you light in a dark time. Hugs and comfort to you friend.
So sorry for your loss.
I am so, so indescribably sorry for your loss. ❤️
I’m sorry for your loss.
Looking mostly clear on Saturday night for BR.
Ok that's great but we're talking Friday night
Probably talking about 1-2am which will be saturday. My wife does this goes I gotta work at hospital tomorrow night 2am. I'm like so tonight you work, no it's tomorrow night. Yea but it's tonight like I'll be in bed tonight when u leave. Not tomorrow night. Buuut technically it's tomorrow lol
Where is the best place to see it near metro detroit? Away from light pollution.. I mean
Leave the city and go as far north as you can
Yeah, course I’m out of state to the south….
They might be visible as far south as Tennessee according to the news
That would be so incredible! Looking at the forecast app I have, though, I still see only a “low” probability of seeing it tomorrow even up north here in the very northern Lower peninsula.
Any idea if it’s going to be clear anywhere in northern Michigan? I’m seeing cloudy everywhere around that time.
Same. Even the UP is all cloudy. I was gonna take a visit up there but nvm
That was my plan as well but seems like it’s not worth it.
I’m still debating going to mackinaw city but the weather again is a toss up. I just wanna see the northern lights without going to Alaska or Canada :D
We are heading into the thumb to try, but I have the same concerns. Overnight Friday and Saturday reads as "partly cloudy" so we are crossing fingers and hoping it peeks through.
Good luck!
After seeing the northern lights, I'm convinced majority of the people who would see it would pass it off as it just being too cloudy to see anyways.
The northern lights look more like clouds than what you see in pictures.
You haven't seen a very intense display then.
They absolutely can look like what they look like in pictures. In fact, sometimes pictures don't do them justice. They can be very dynamic. Visibly moving, strobing, and changing colours.
And most of the times I've seen them, it's been from around the Detroit/Windsor area.
Yeah man, considering the reason they don't look like the pictures is because the human eye cannot process the light a camera lens can, I'm going to call cap on that.
GUYS HE CALLED CAP
Well this is a fine weekend to be in Bellaire.
IF the sky is clear it will fizzle out because the media is telling everyone it will be the greatest EVER!
What about satuday night
It was cloudy and rainy in Lake Ann - no show for us
The one time I decide to go out of town and visit NC I miss a whole weekend of northern lights. 😭 😭
Cool!
Wish I could see. Only been to Michigan once, all I’ll be seeing is pollution here in cali :(
I'm such a nerd, I see the most amazing Northern lights every time I play Skyrim or Fallout 4 with mods. I can look at eclipses in Starfield.
So when it happens in real life I'm all like...
"Eww, outside? People? Nope."
Also me - 46m
Wife and I took a trip to Alaska in November to see the lights. We also play a lot of video games with cool skyvox effects.
Not the same man. The games look cool for sure, but if you get the chance to see the real deal, absolutely take it. So so worth it.
I saw the real thing in the Marine Corps. Non combat ops.
Still, I'll take the simulation every time.
Fair enough
Of course while I'm on vacation lol. Hope it's cloudy all day
So of course the forecast for tomorrow is cloudy all day
