Netflix is a shit medium. You don't watch shows, you watch netflix, and recently, you watch netflix just for the sake of watching netflix.
And there's copious amounts of content for them to use. Canceling that told me that Netflix had turned a corner and were headed downhill. I loved the John Douglas books.

Apparently there wasn’t enough of an audience to pay for the show as the actors salaries were pretty big. That’s what I remember from looking into it a few years ago. Seems odd as it was around the time people were gooning over anything related to serial killers
The thing about streaming. When they have a good show they add it to their library forever. Stranger Things will be making them money for 50 years. Mind hunter could have been the same.

Netflix is a weird one. They have such high expectations of viewer data that it almost guarantees 90% of their shows will not see a second season.. yet still writers will throw in cliff hangers knowing this data. Then you have the viewers basically too afraid to watch a show because they’re worried it’ll be canceled. So they hold off until it’s finished.. causing viewer data to be low thus pushing Netflix to cancel.
I’m one of those people. I’ve stopped watching new Netflix shows completely because I know most things are cancelled.. most things are canceled because not enough people watch. Self fulfilling cancellation.
Netflix would have canceled Seinfeld, Friends and Star Trek The Next Generation after their first seasons. They refuse to let a show find its footing and gain an audience.
Dude yes! This is absolutely the reason why their viewer data is trash, theyve burned people so many times they don't watch the show. Netflix also fails by releasing an entire season in one day destroying the dialogue that happens on blogs, real life conversations, theories about the episodes.
Netflix seriously needs to reconsider it's use of viewer data and employ some actual real life behavioral analysis also

TLDR: the next part of the book series plays off 30 years later, which makes it difficult for them, so the show runners and amazon agreed to stop it for now.
There might be a possibility that we can get more in the future, time will tell.

A decision I stil don't understand. Yes, there is a 30-year jump into the future in the books, but they changed so mch in the show that they could have shortened those 30 years to maybe two or three so the actors wouldn't appear too young.
And besides, if 55-year old Cate Blanchett can play a character in her mid-to-late 20s in the upcoming Borderlands film, why not the other way around.

Me and the wife enjoyed it regardless of finding out the show was canceled halfway through. It doesn’t clear jack shit up in the end but it was still entertaining and the intro is super cool. Give it a chance and see if you get into it.

Such a shane, I was totally hooked with the plot and this one didn't even come from a book so there's absolutely no way of knowing more of the plot or continuing the story.
I also hated the cancel of peripheral but at least I can read the book on that one, still it had really good acting tbh I'll miss watching more of it.

Season one in my opinion was one of the greatest works of sci-fi in the history of television. Incredible level of production and overall quality. You can see the quality dropping a bit in the later seasons (like in the cgi) because I believe they started to drop the budget but damn was it still so good.

Blame Fox incompetence for that, they aired the series completely out of order and decided to sit the slow before football matches, a spot usually given to comedy or mindless shows due to the majority of watchers would be football fans, not sci-fi fans. This caused the sore to have poor ratings to the point Fix cancelled it and not carrying about is sudden cult fans enough to bother with a renewal (Fox being Fox)

The last episode left on a cliffhanger, which was annoying to me because I arrived late to the party and began catching up on all the episodes on the same year it was announced that it got canceled.
Unfortunately Garcia was more or less guaranteed to get a new Season, but it got canceled anyway. If we believe Ethan Suplee (and there‘s really not a reason not to), Garcia would‘ve never ended the season with a cliffhanger if he‘d knew that it was going to get canceled.
Anyway, the ending of the show was already written.
Garcia said the finale would begin with Earl getting stuck on a really hard list item, frustrated that he would never finish crossing everything off his list. "Somebody shows up at our motel door," added Suplee recently, "finds us at the bar, and starts to make amends to Earl for something." Earl would then question where the man got such an idea and "goes back and finds all these people who have lists, who are out there trying to do good, and it all comes back to him. He was the beginning of this." Garcia concluded, "Earl eventually realizes that his list started a chain reaction of people with lists and that he’s finally put more good into the world than bad. So at that point he was going to tear up his list and go live his life. Walk into the sunset a free man. With good karma."

Deadwood. Absolutely one of the most awesome shows ever made, then they just canceled it on a major plot note. At least they eventually made a movie to wrap it up... 13 fuggin years later. But it was too little, too late. It launched Ian McShane's and Timothy Olyphant's careers.
Ian McShane has hundreds of TV and movie credits going back 40 years before Deadwood. Lovejoy was massive in the UK.

Spartacus wasn't canceled dude. It has like 4 seasons. And an ending. Gods of the arena which is from before spartacus showed up and shows how batiatus fell on hard times despite having amazing gladiators. Then there's vengeance and war of the damned. The actor who replaced andy wasn't as charismatic as spartacus but he was definitely good. The show is great, you should watch it.

The most annoying one was The Peripheral. The second season got cancelled in august 2023 after it was announced as renewed in february 2023.
I really hated that bait and switch. It is worse than just having the show cancelled because for months you are thinking the next season is coming because it was renewed.
