Way too many fucking hateful posts getting upvoted because of Pride month. Fuck off transphobes.
AITAH for thinking all these trans rage bait posts should be deleted by admins?
“Am I the asshole for politely asking my husband to please stop cheating on me with my sister?”
“Am I the asshole for politely asking my husband to please stop cheating on me with his sister? And kicking my puppy…?”
Am I the asshole for non-stop murdering and spitting in the face of my husband's dying grandmother(dying because I was actively murdering her) and for selling my kid's bike for drug money to fuel my murder lust?
My husband just came out as trans, aita for still being upset that they murdered my grandma and cheated on me with my puppy
My dad is banging my wife while my parakeet watches, should they be mad at me for calling them out at Thanksgiving dinner in front a bus full of Shriners?
Parakeet cucks was not on my Reddit bingo card.
They’re not cucks they’re just voyeurs
Fair. Birds are pretty badass.
What kind of relationship are you having with your birds if the parakeet is a cuck?
All of these are great because this is definitely how the Subs posts have been going lately
"I am the actual hole in a person's butt, and I have gained sentience. AITA?"
No just keep the stool pigeon quite
That's not quiet the right response. Go somewhere quite and think about it.
I (18F) have been married to my husband (47M) for 3 years now, and the first time I met his grandma she mispronounced my name (they don't have the r sound in her language, and my name is Rrrrrrrrrrr). She also was diagnosed with tongue cancer and recently had half of it removed. I told her that was no excuse, and she apologized but it didn't feel genuine. I told her calling me by my name was one of my boundaries.
Today we were over for lunch and she called me mija, so I beat her over the head with her mother's funeral vase because she crossed my boundary. She is currently bleeding out on the floor. My husband says I went too far, but I was just enforcing my boundaries. AITA?
NTA, if grandma can't mindread your boundaries she deserves everything she got. You go girl.
*You go, grrrrrrl.
Grandma Charles Xavier.
NTA. If your husband won't shut up about it hit him over the head with his newly cremated grandma. Also kick his puppy just in case.
3 puppies, they’re triplets
non-stop murdering...lol...poor granny
NTA, you don't owe it to anyone to not murder them and Grandma FAFO she shouldn't have walked into you that one time.
ESH, but in your defense we have all murdered granny puppies and sold kid drugs for bicycle husbands. Murder.
“Am I the asshole for politely asking my husband to stop cheating on my puppy and kicking my sister”
My favorite are the ragebait titles that are completely the opposite of the story in the post.
"AITA for punching my MIL in the stomach?" Explanation: We were out to dinner when she began to choke on her steak. I got up and gave her the Heimlich maneuver. I dislodged the blockage and saved her life but half the family is mad at me because it caused a scene in the restaurant. AITA?

Title: AITA for Asking My Husband to Stop Cheating with His Sister and Kicking My Puppy?
Background:
I (32F) have been married to my husband (35M) for three years now. We recently adopted a cute little puppy named Max, who has quickly become a beloved member of our family.
The Situation:
Over the past few months, I've noticed some concerning behavior from my husband. He's been spending an unusual amount of time with his sister (38F), often staying out late and coming home smelling like perfume. At first, I tried to brush it off, but my suspicions grew stronger as time went on.
One day, I came home early from work and found my husband and his sister in a compromising situation in our bedroom. I was devastated and confronted them immediately. My husband tried to deny it, but it was clear that they had been having an affair behind my back.
As if that wasn't bad enough, I recently caught my husband kicking Max when he thought no one was watching. I was horrified and heartbroken to see him mistreat our innocent puppy.
The Conflict:
Fed up with his infidelity and animal abuse, I sat down with my husband to have a serious conversation. I calmly but firmly told him that his behavior with his sister needed to stop immediately and that he had to seek help for his issues. I also made it clear that any further mistreatment of Max would not be tolerated.
The Aftermath:
My husband was initially defensive and tried to shift the blame onto me, accusing me of overreacting. However, after a long and emotional discussion, he finally admitted that he had a problem and agreed to seek therapy.
Despite his promises to change, I can't help but feel like I'm being too harsh by asking him to stop cheating and to treat our puppy with kindness. Am I the asshole for standing up for myself and Max?
So, Reddit, AITA?
I asked chatgpt to write a response.
**NTA**
Oh my goodness, where do I even begin? Your husband isn't just crossing lines—he's obliterating them! Cheating with his sister? That's not just an affair; it's a whole new level of messed up! And kicking your innocent puppy, Max? That's pure evil! Seriously, who even does that?
You are absolutely justified in being outraged. His actions are beyond unacceptable; they're downright disturbing. Asking him to stop cheating and to stop abusing your dog isn't being harsh—it's setting the bare minimum standards for basic human decency!
Honestly, your husband should be grateful you're even giving him a chance to seek therapy. Most people wouldn't have your patience. If anything, you should be praised for your strength and compassion in handling this situation.
You deserve so much better than this. Stand strong, protect Max, and don't let anyone tell you you're overreacting. You're not just NTA; you're a hero for standing up for what's right in such a crazy situation!
I asked it for a YTA response:
YTA (You're the Asshole)
Your post outlines a situation where your husband is cheating on you with his sister and abusing your puppy, yet you're questioning if you're being too harsh for asking him to stop? The fact that you're even wondering if you're the asshole here is concerning.
- Infidelity: Your husband is not just cheating on you; he's doing it with his sister. This is not only a betrayal of your trust but also an incredibly disturbing situation. It's perfectly reasonable and necessary to demand that this behavior stops immediately. Infidelity alone is grounds for serious reconsideration of a relationship, but the incestuous aspect makes it even more alarming.
- Animal Abuse: Your husband is kicking your puppy, Max, when he thinks no one is watching. This is a clear sign of abusive behavior and is unacceptable under any circumstances. You should be protecting Max and ensuring he is in a safe and loving environment.
- Your Response: Instead of questioning whether you're being too harsh, you should be taking decisive action to protect yourself and Max. This includes considering leaving your husband if he does not immediately cease his harmful behaviors and seek serious help.
- Downplaying the Issues: By framing your situation as merely asking your husband to stop these behaviors, you're minimizing the severity of his actions. Infidelity, especially with a sibling, and animal abuse are major issues that should not be tolerated.
In summary, YTA for not recognizing the gravity of the situation and for even considering that your requests might be too harsh. You need to take strong, protective steps for yourself and Max. Your husband's actions are not only cruel but also deeply troubling, and they require immediate and serious intervention.
Huh. Well I feared AI would take my job, but I didn’t consider that it would also take my scroll time too smh
this made me lol thank you
ESH
And should I stay with him? and forgive him? or should I leave? They are having a baby together, and he's moved out.
“Am I wrong for not wanting my son to open the Lament Configuration?”
YOLO! Am I right!?
“Am I wrong for not wanting my son to read The Necronomicon out loud"?
Am I the asshole for banding together with a motley crew of teenage misfits and rising up against the Darklord who usurped the magocracy?
"Am I wrong for coming when they opened the box?"
“Am I the asshole for getting mad at a stranger for pointing a gun at me?”
More than 90% of the top posts are fake now. And that goes for a lot of the popular subs, not just this one. And the vast majority are trying to push a political agenda.
And sometimes it's better to just call the OP an asshole and move on. Don't want to dwell too much on posts that can make you too angry lol.
AITAH is like a kayfabe in wrestling. We all know most of this is fake but collectively pretend that it's real
And whenever people ask why they're even asking if they're an asshole in the first place, the response is ALWAYS, "My friends and family think I was too mean." It's always people with no backbone posting on here. Or it's fake.
Look at the posters profile, most of them appear to be bots. For reference, I know this is a funny comment coming from a fairly new username, but my old account got hacked and deleted.
How can you tell it’s a bot from looking at the profile?
Most bot accounts have a randomly generated name, were made recently, one comment in a popular community to boost their karma enough to post, and sometimes has peculiar grammar.
Also you find a lot of account that were active for a long time, then inactive for months/years, and then all the sudden come back to post almost nonstop.
Also a good sign, yes. That way it's not a brand new account and therefore less suspicious.
They arent useless. They serve soneone's purpose who runs the bot that posts them. Click on the profile when you see one. 9/10 a new account with only that post. Im just disappointed that thousands fall for it every day.
Right? I’ve been thinking this a lot lately. Very rare to find a post with true debates in the comments.
To those I always vote "YTA for wasting people's time with obviously fake post." Either that or I double down and pretend I actually do believe they ATA lol
You shouldn’t interact at all, engagement is good for them regardless of what the engagement is.
But then how would I upset all the other redditors who don't know any better?
I downvote and move on. It's nothing in the sea of engagement but there's little more I can do.
"AITAH for being the victim of a crime huderderder"
I genuinely think the majority of AITAH now is fucking AI training posts.
It's all either AI or just people desperate for a weird piece of "fame". The whole trend of tik toks with the exact same shitty gameplay and a voice over reading posts has become HUUUUUUGE, you let yourself get drawn into one and suddenly it's your entire feed even if you didn't finish watching the video. There's a million accounts doing it because it's such easy interaction, you just use the same 4 gameplay clips and set a bot to read the text, and you get tons of comments talking about the story. And people have gotten so weird about vitality and internet fame, literally anything whatsoever is good enough even if it doesn't have any attachment to their actual name or actual accounts. Any notoriety is good to some people.
100%. You ever notice how the same type of stories get popular at the same time? Like the top voted stories always seem to have a very similar focal point - I’m glad someone else thinks it’s AI lmao
Or - and hear me out on this conspiracy - it’s reality tv show writers screening for plotlines that will get viewers to watch shitty tv
Step 1. Make outlandish title that makes OP sound like they’re obviously the AH.
Step 2. Make some fiction about a women or minority as part of the conflict. Big bonus points if you include a stereotype that’s annoying as part of the conflict.
Step 3. Make OP the hero and ask “golly gee am I the AH?”
The first two letters of "AITAH" are "AI". Never forget that!
If you don't believe me, go on ChapGTP and give it a prompt to create an AITAH about some ridiculous wedding scenario. "My sister-in-law to-be wants our reception to be all-Vegan even though she is the only Vegan attending. AITAH for serving steak tartar instead?"
And watch ChatGTP crank out an AITAH posting in seconds. Now think about this and some of the entries in AITAH - and the comments.
I think most of Reddit is now just AI-generated click-bait used to gin up their engagement numbers.
Or am I an AI-bot as well?

Title: AITA for Serving Steak Tartare at My Wedding Reception Despite My Vegan Sister-in-Law's Request?
Background:
I (28F) am getting married soon, and my fiancé and I have been planning our wedding reception. My sister-in-law to-be, let's call her Sarah (30F), is a devout vegan. She's the only vegan in our close circle of family and friends.
The Situation:
During a recent discussion about the menu for our reception, Sarah expressed her desire for the entire menu to be vegan-friendly to accommodate her dietary choices. She argued that since she's the only vegan attending, it wouldn't be a big deal to have a vegan menu.
While we respect her lifestyle choice, we also believe that our wedding day should reflect our tastes and preferences as a couple. We've spent a lot of time carefully selecting the menu, which includes a variety of options that we and our guests will enjoy, including some meat dishes.
The Conflict:
When we informed Sarah that we would not be making the entire menu vegan, she became upset and accused us of being inconsiderate and disrespectful. She argued that it's not fair for her to sit through a reception where she can't eat most of the food.
In response, we compromised by offering several vegan options alongside the non-vegan dishes. However, Sarah is still insisting that the entire menu should be vegan.
Feeling frustrated and wanting to stick to our original plan, we decided to include steak tartare on the menu, knowing full well that it goes against Sarah's dietary preferences.
The Aftermath:
When Sarah found out about the steak tartare, she was furious and accused us of intentionally disrespecting her and her beliefs. She threatened to boycott the reception altogether if we don't change the menu to accommodate her.
While we understand her frustration, we feel like we've already made a reasonable compromise by offering vegan options. Are we the assholes for serving steak tartare despite Sarah's wishes?
So, Reddit, AITA?
holy shit
They do seem fake a lot of the time, tbh
Russians have whole troll farms whose job is it to go online and spread divisive rhetoric across the internet, just to piss Americans off against each other.
They do it on dozens of issues, immigration, trans & queer, entertainment. Anything that naturally divides us as a people, they try to stick a wedge in a divide us further. They are 100% on Reddit. FYI
There's an argument that every forum should have a standard warning posted at the top: "Unfriendly parties regularly post material designed to cause conflict. Please bear this in mind when reading posts and comments - you may be responding to material specifically designed to manipulate you and cause you to get angry."
People can't read.
Having worked places with various important signage put up where it's impossible to avoid...
No, people won't read. They absolutely can. They choose not to.
Agreed. If people don't fully read a sign that says "10% off for these shelf only" They aren't going to read warnings/rules in a subreddit.
This appears to be a post designed to manipulate you and cause you to get angry.
Thanks, I can't read either.
Not just America, they have their filthy claws in our culture in England too
They are in every developed western power. I think it was Sweden where the Russians paid a right wing dickhead to burn a Quran in public. The funny thing is the invasion in Ukraine completely disrupted decades of psyops that were starting to actually divide a bunch of western powers, both internally and amongst each other. US Republicans are about the only ones still fully towing the Kremlin line.
Almost all far-right parties in Europe have proven Russian financial links. It is no secret, and yet they are making gains despite clearly standing for nothing.
I've encountered their Chinese counterparts on Reddit as well. The US is in a Cold War, and we don't even recognize it.
There’s plenty of American shitheads looking for any excuse to bitch about lgbtq people
Oh definitely, but the Russian troll work allows them to embrace the idea that everyone else feels that way too and they just have to shut up about it cause the libruls
This. This is the 4chan effect in practice. They used to do elaborate pro-Nazi, pro-white supremacy bullshit as a joke, and to break character was seen as awful, so if you were a white supremacist and came on this group without knowing that it was people cosplaying being terrible, you'd think, "Ah! I finally found my people!" And you'd feel much safer speaking out loud those awful thoughts. Russian troll farms aren't creating controversy so much as they are facilitating it, and it really doesn't take much to bring out the worst of humanity.
They basically act like sheepdogs, steering the herds of naturally occurring trolls onto their specific pet issues.
Divide and conquer.
The goal is to make isolated angry young men who have generally been failed by Western society to become more isolated and more angry, especially against women. Hating minorities is a bonus but nothing rips a fair society apart like young men who hate women and want to dominate them by subjecting all women to a hierarchy. Angry young men who crushed women's rights as soon as they could have led all the totalitarian revolutions of the last 150 years. We don't talk about it enough but some of Nazi Germany's first acts when given political power or to remove women suffrage and remove women from politics altogether. The Weimar Republic was one of the most progressive European States as far as women's rights. We concentrate on some of the unbelievably hateful things that Nazi Germany accomplished and wonder how they could ever get into power but they ran on a very openly anti women's rights agenda, not on a "let's kill the Jews and gays". Both Soviet and the Chinese Revolution also had anti-women suffrage as main selling points and more recently we've seen what happened in Iran in 1979 whose grassroot campaign ignored "death to America" largely and promoted "women won't be allowed to tell you what to do". Like I said though, hating minorities and sexual minorities by creating Boogeyman is a real bonus to the same goal.
The fascism playbook has three cultural pillars, xenophobia, misogyny and homophobia (even in the rare instances where the strongman is gay).
Learned this from the book Strongmen, good (disturbingly relevant) read.
But all the brand new Reddit accounts assured me it was just "opinions people don't like."

Exact same thing goes on in China. Age of rage and misinformation clouds everything.
We should start a reddit meme where people respond "found the Russian troll".
Then someone make a bot that learns to call them out and we can good bot bad bot it.
I've seen a lot of those kind of posts, including a recent one about some lady who runs a waxing shop, where the story seems precision crafted to seem plausible or even reasonable, yet provide an excuse to be able to defensibly discriminate against trans people.
That waxing story especially, there was actually a decent chance that it was true, and it actually brought up a pretty legitimate health and safety issue, but the end result of it was still that it surgically cut out a situation where you can say "oh it's ok to exclude trans people in this case" and then get lots of otherwise reasonable people to agree that "oh yeah in this situation it is kind of unreasonable for trans people to be throwing their genitals around at innocent, married, straight women who vowed to their husbands never to touch or look at another penis" (which was the most suspicious part of that post).
The idea being that the more little bites they take out of inclusivity and acceptance, the worse the baseline gets for them.
The waxing one seems especially fake because I know several trans people and they’re very conscious of the discrimination they face. If doing an activity that would actively involve a stranger touching their genitals I don’t know a single one that wouldn’t first make sure the place was equipped to handle their needs. They would NOT go into this blind
Exactly. People have this gross assumption that every trans person jumps into a space and demands things.
Also every top comment focused more on her "comfort" than her insane reasoning that it would insult her husbands honor if she dared to touch a penis. Nobody tell these people about proctologists or OBGYN's who manage to stay married, I guess.
That thread got out of control. There were people who actually work in the industry saying the way the person handled it was unprofessional and they got downvoted aggressively, while they were a bunch of positive karma posts that just said "that's a man" or "trans people suck". I got downvoted because people were claiming lesbian subs were full of trans people shaming others for not sleeping with them and I simply said that I, a lesbian on those subs, haven't seen anything like that. Which is true btw.
And yeah, it definitely pushes on the baseline. If you say anything less than "yes, you should treat this trans woman exactly like a man in the context of your marriage" they'll accuse you of forcing people to touch genitals they don't want to no matter how far that is from your actual point. You can see why its effective propaganda
Haven’t read the post but most waxers I’ve met or heard about online provide services to both sexes so…I would imagine someone would have difficulty competing in the industry with such a restriction. They’re professionals who honestly don’t care. That sentence is indeed very very suspicious.
Yeah if you search for it you'll find it, it was from a day or two ago, and it was basically saying the trans woman didn't disclose they had a penis until basically they were on the table, and the technician didn't want to proceed. The comments listed some pretty legitimate safety reasons why it would be ok to stop, such as not waxing someone's penis and balls without knowing what you're doing due to the skin being different than regular female parts. But in this case, the part that made the post seem super weird and sus, is that the OP was basically saying "my husband and i agreed that i'll only treat women so that i never have to touch another penis, out of respect for him".
it was so ... weird. It took a scenario that had legitimate technical reasons and made it incredibly strange.
I was really surprised more people in that thread didn't call OP out on being a total weirdo there.
But then, the AITA crowd regularly defends completely insane relationship boundaries. AITA for having a five minute conversation with my ex that I ran into at the grocery store without getting my husband to sign permission forms in triplicate first? YTA, it's about respect, I hope he divorces you and takes the kids and you end up a homeless drug addict.
right? that's what made it just seem so weird.
Like, if your job is doing bikini waxes on women, and suddenly there's a set of cock-n-balls on the table in front of you, you can just say "hey, I'm not equipped or trained for this, i apologize for the confusion but I'm not the right person for this" and be done with it. And, hell, even if you're actually uncomfortable by it, just say "I'm sorry, I'm not able to proceed, I'm sorry" and move on.
Turning it into some kind of respect issue for your relationship is such a tangential and unnecessary part of the interaction. And considering the incredible amount of ridiculous fake, trolling, and ragebaity content on this site, especially about such a hot button issue as trans people, the needle is pointing deeply into "fake reddit bullshit" territory.
Oh and of course the post gets 25k upvotes, because it clicks so many of the right buttons on this site, including (back to my original point) the ability for redditors and the trolls on this site to signal boost yet another small area to "legitimately" ostracize and talk shit on trans people, just like the other posts recently where people carefully constructed scenarios where it was ok to shit on muslims, and the commenters lapped it up.
It was weird that she brought it up in that moment but it's also weird to begin with.
She got into a field that involves touching people's genitals in a non-sexual way but out of respect for her husband she won't non-sexually touch penises in a purely professional capacity? That kind of makes it sound like maybe it is sexual after all.
Do the women she works on know that she views her work as sexual? If she were bisexual, would her husband ban her from being in her profession entirely?
Is this the kind of couple where if she went into labor early and the only OBGYN around happened to be male, their marriage would be destroyed because another man touched her vagina?
It's fake ragebait, but the number of people not pointing out how absurd she's acting suggests that a disturbing amount of people feel like "you can't touch opposite-sex genitals in a non-sexual professional capacity as part of your genital-touching job" is a reasonable relationship boundary.
Fake and AI generated. There are AI detectors online and I think the mods should use them.
Totally agree, it's really frustrating to see so much hate spreading
I agree, I’ve gotten 3 separate trans related posts recommended to me within 3 days
Last week was antisemitism and Islamophobic week.
Lot of fake post recently, lot of bait, take care guys.
So many of the 'wife cheated, baby not mine' posts too
Isn’t that this subreddit’s specialty though?
Yes, so many posts on this type of sub are really obviously fake, but it's different to post them for karma than it is to post them to spread transphobia.
I don't even mind fake posts that much as long as they're well-written, entertaining, and not trying to perpetuate negative stereotypes like all the paternity fraud nonsense and trans panic.
Yeah, that's where I am. They would be entertaining if they didn't actually reinforce gullible people's beliefs that every woman cheats, trans people are entitled and delusional, autistic/ND people are just using their disability as an excuse to behave poorly, and all step parents are evil succubi whose goals are to ruin their step children's lives. These posts may exist in a bubble online, but they have a very tangible effect on people in the real world.
My favorite is when there is a new post which you can see both sides but give a verdict in support of the OP and explain why then log out. Then while you’re logged out they reveal more information in the comment you haven’t seen that shows they are completely wrong. Then the downvote train starts and it doesn’t stop unless you delete your comment.
I don't even mind fake posts that much as long as they're well-written, entertaining, and not trying to perpetuate negative stereotypes like all the paternity fraud nonsense and trans panic.
I open AITAH in the morning assuming that an AI generated bullshit paternity fraud post will be at the top of the list.
And I'm almost always right 😂
That is the difference between entertainment and propaganda.
Not to mention the “Asexual wife who told me about it after we married is upset that I’m not asexual” rage bait posts.
they wont even do that over in the sub that pretends to have mods. they definitely arent doing it here.
Yeah this sub is already borderline unusable because they do nothing about the rampant comment-copying bots. Original AITA at least has a bot that will nuke those comments if they're reported.
Most of the stories on here feel fake af these days. So I just treat them like little soap operas.
Yes!
I tell ppl that, to me, reddit is soap operas for people who say they don't like soap operas lol As bad as it sounds, also makes me feel LOT better about my life choices sometimes.
i’m glad that i can get some confirmation from the comments that people on this sub do understand most the stories are fake and just roll with it. however, the issue is that people are just lying about marginalized groups on this sub and i highly doubt their motivation is creative writing exercises
It’s the people who don’t realize what’s fake who take it at face value because it confirms their priors that are the big issue
This sub is like professional wrestling. We’re in kayfabe here, we know it’s fake but we suspend our disbelief. The point is to figure out who is the AH, not whether or not the post is real.
That said, every pride month, the amount of homophobic creative writing on this sub skyrockets. It’s really not ok, we see it daily, and if you look back there are posts with 10s of thousands of upvotes that are now [deleted] because it was a homophobic troll.
The real damage being the majority of people casually scrolling will just take this propaganda at face value.
The point is to figure out who is the AH, not whether or not the post is real.
I'd say there is rarely any doubt who the asshole is. The title will be "Am I an asshole for punching someone who didnt do anything to me?" And then the post is like "I punched a mass shooter, saving hundreds of innocent children. My accountant says punching is bad though, so am I an asshole?"
Agree with the rest though. Mods need to be better about removing the fake shit that pushes homophobic/transphobic rhetoric.
This sub is like professional wrestling. We’re in kayfabe here, we know it’s fake but we suspend our disbelief. The point is to figure out who is the AH, not whether or not the post is real.
It wouldn't be such a problem if the writing was at least better. So many plot holes, contrivances, and trend following that it becomes too obvious. I want some immersion.
If you're going to do a fake story, at least do your research people! and if you log in and see 12 other stories featuring the same plotline your story has on the front page, stick it in a drawer for a month or two!
another problem is when they keep writing update posts and then fuck up the details theyve mentioned before in a really obvious way
Or the update happens way too quickly for the events
"Update: It's been one day and a lots happened. I've talked to a lawyer and got a restraining order, changed all of the locks and installed a security system, got a trained guard dog, and had meetings with the School Super Intendent and Prime Minister of Sweden. All in the 18 hours since the last update."
At least wait 2 or 3 weeks if you're going to have any legal stuff happen. And even then that's too quick in a lot places.
That said, every pride month, the amount of homophobic creative writing on this sub skyrockets. It’s really not ok, we see it daily, and if you look back there are posts with 10s of thousands of upvotes that are now [deleted] because it was a homophobic troll.
Exactly. It is every June, and it is appalling.
The whole point of these subs are for advice and whatnot for people. They are supposed to be real. I don't understand people going "well, we know the posts are fake but that's okay", no it isn't. I watch wrestling, I knew going in it was scripted. These subs come across as real and should be. I know it's impossible to stop the fake posts but we shouldn't just be accepting them as part of the sub.
The problem is it makes certain ‘problems’ seem much more frequent than they are. For example trans people only calling biological people ‘cis’, or trans people carrying around period products.
These kind of posts create a moral panic about trans people being ‘damaging’ to society. It fuels the hate fire.
Exactly. And plenty of people are taking them seriously. There are other subreddits if someone wants to write a fake story. Shrugging and saying “it’s okay to post fake stories here, we just have to figure out who’s the asshole in Fakerstown”, sorry, I hate that point of view. The subreddits supposed to be for real stories, chase the fake people out and stop giving them a pass.
And yes, as you said, many of them have agendas. It’s about making something seem way more common than it is so everyone gets upset.
On face value, it feels like a story just to analyse. But for people who can’t understand that they’re witnessing propaganda it definitely influences how they feel about trans people.
This sub seems to go through phases where really boring trolls get obsessed with a topic. Remember last year when it was, "AITA for being disgusted by my girlfriend's period supplies? Here's a convoluted backstory explaining why it's okay".
This sub is a wreck. You can’t even submit a normal asshole situation anymore because it gets no attention. Kind of like how r/AMA turned into a bunch of people writing fantasy sex tales.
I had no idea what you were talking about so I clicked the sub and the first 2 posts I saw were “my MiL caught my wife giving me a bj” and “I’m a woman who is not allowed to travel without a male companion” lmao wtf is going on over there???
LMAO NAHHH
If all the rage bait posts were removed from this sub, there would be nothing left.
99% of the posts on this sub are fake rage bait posts. Lmao
Forreal. Ntm "my gay spouse, cheated on me and lied to me and beat me aita?"
"My wife is a mean lesbian who left me and kicked my dog - Part 4 of 321"
“And no one cared!!”
That's exactly the one I was thinking of! "fUck you alL" 💀
That's just AITAH in general. Or it's bait like "I punched a cow, AITAH?" - "So, actually, the cow trampled my entire family first, but did I overreact?".
Wait that was a post????
I saw something very similar
Yup and we keep falling for it. The trans brazilian post has like 11000 replies. Could have said just didnt want to do it because not trained, but had to add in the "obligations to my husband" bit. If you have a relationship where no other junk is allowed, dont work a job that requires seeing junk
It happens every June -- hateful LGBT+ posts. This year and last year were especially fixated on Evil Trans OPs.
OOOoooohhh!! See, I didn't realize that was the case, and naively engaged in the comments yesterday and got downvoted to shit.
I think a solid 50% of the posts or more on this sub are just rage bait
NTA
Trans activists say they want "tolerance," but they really want to impose their beliefs on everyone else. Enough!
100 karma.
MTF are really the worst of the entire community
53 karma.
Alex has a penis. Alex is male. Alex needs therapy, not waxing.
74 karma.
I stg and they make new accounts every minute so even blocking isn't doing shit
maybe don't discriminate against an entire community
-20 karma.
That post gave me so much anxiety as a queer person and I'm not even a trans woman.
And yeah, they kept claiming they were so brave for saying what they were saying or "finally someone said it" or making up that the comments were against them ... the false victim hood is exhausting. Transphobia is pretty popular, even mainstream. You can find whole governments that support it.
The most hilarious part was some of the people saying this getting really offended at the idea someone might call them transphobic for it right after saying they hate trans people, as if being called transphobic is some awful crime against them.
There are people in this thread getting upvoted for calling trans people “disgusting freaks” (while patting themselves on the back for “going against the hive mind” because they’re big, strong, brave boys).
Nothing will be done about it. We’re an acceptable minority to hate and Reddit doesn’t give a shit about us. It’s the reason I left Reddit in the first place and it will probably be the reason I eventually leave again.
There are people in this thread getting upvoted for calling trans people “disgusting freaks” (while patting themselves on the back for “going against the hive mind” because they’re big, strong, brave boys).
It's exhausting. Never-ending comments being upvoted as top comments saying trans people are mentally ill, they will only ever be their assigned sex, they are scum and trying to push their agendas...god.
And the mods and especially admin refuse to do anything about it, because VaLuAbLe DiScUsSiOn
On my old account I regularly had to report straight up violent rhetoric and threats directed at me and other trans people. And the mods never did anything. And when I escalated it to admin I got the automod “we have determined that this does not violate our rules” message.
The mods don’t care about us. The admins hate us.
Yeah, they don't give a shit. Every time I report that shit, it's like I refresh the page and 5 more have taken its place, and worse yet, I'll have probably already gotten a response about how it supposedly doesn't break any rules. I'm sorry you have to deal with that directly, though. You can only read those comments so many times while reporting them before it all gets to be so overwhelming, because it's everywhere you look.
I can sort of ignore it a bit easier, because I'm NB (although that isn't without its own bigotry, we're not as "focused" on, I suppose). I relate on that level, then the issues that come from being biromantic asexual, which means double the shit when subjects about them come up. My husband is also an asexual transman. You can imagine how much fun that is.
It's all tiring on any other day of the year, but when it's Pride Month, it still really, really sucks, even when we know to expect and try to prepare for it. It's the same shit for any month dedicated to a minority. I'm black, so I also just had to deal with the spike in endlessly racist ragebait posts back in February. Now Juneteenth is coming up...yay.
God, I do appreciate Reddit in many ways and have found so many good communities. But sometimes the bad is so loud and you can't get away from it, like times like this.
Yes. The mods really need to do a better job about it. They're just letting people stir up hate and arguments for no reason. That Cis woman post is absolutely stupid and should be removed. Same with the waxing one. I don't know why they would want to leave edge lord transphobia on here unless they enjoy it as well.
They let incels post their frequent baby trapped bs stories all the live long day
Letting people call women awful things
Don't forget the "I turned a lesbian straight" wank bait
The waxing one really bothered me. It just opens up the comments for people to say absolutely vile things about trans people and the mods do not care even a little. It is getting out of hand. And then if you say anything in the comments, you get downvoted to infinity. Reporting people gets nowhere. It makes me want to leave Reddit.
Right??? I felt insane because of the amount of times OP wrote "biological woman" and called herself an ally. Feels like bigots actually enjoy Pride Month more than actual queer people
Completely agree with this. So many of the comments were disgusting to read.
And it's very obviously fake, just reposting the Jessica Yaniv story.
Sadly most of Reddit (and social media) is exactly like this. It’s rough being online while trans.
It makes my day worse and I'm not even trans. I can't imagine playing emotional russian roulette with my feed 24/7. My heart goes out to you.
YES! It seemed so obviously fake and meant to just bring out hateful rhetoric against trans folks; which it did, the comments got so ugly.
So many fake stories that are just dressed up disguised dog whistles
There are 3 mods listed for this subreddit under the ‘see more’ tab. I agree with this post & think the best way to bring it to their attention is to message them directly. Reddit’s overarching rules do not allow the encouragement of violence and with the rise in transphobia everywhere those posts should not be allowed.
They won’t take them down because they agree with it. If there’s one bigot in a room and another person who doesn’t speak up, then there’s two bigots in a room.
When you sit down to dinner with 11 Nazis, there are 12 at the table.
You know: ABSOLUTELY NOT! HAPPY PRIDE MONTH, EVERYONE!
Happy 🌈 Pride Month!!!!
I am so glad someone else noticed and is bothered by this shit too
I stopped reading the posts on this sub specifically because of all the posts that sound like they were written just to hate on minorities.
NTA, I agree. It's so obvious too which ones are fake too. Like either OP is lying or they live in fantasy a world where trans people are far more common than in the real world and they go out of their way to out themselves to strangers and antagonize them. In real life, the vast majority of trans people just want to live their lives normally and avoid having attention drawn to their genitals.
It's crazy. There is so much homophobic/transphobic bullshit and people who don't know any better take it at face value. It reinforces homo/transphobic ideas that are based in ignorance, and the only way to combat it is for lgbtq+ people to hang out in the comments to try to provide accurate information and call out bigotry. The problem is that it's like sitting in a sinking boat and using a bucket to scoop out water. There aren't enough of us to fight back, it's time-consuming, and the endless stream of bigotry is harmful to our mental health. If we ignore it though, it just makes the bigots seem like they're correct because nobody is pushing back on it.
It's fucked up and the lgbtq+ people lose no matter what we do.
Being trans on Reddit is basically like getting downvoted for existing.
Which is kinda what it feels like IRL too.
Before this thread gets locked I’ll just say: transphobes fuck off
Is there any good way to like, warn people not to engage? If I'd have known I never would have made any responses and now I'm worried about other people doing the same thing and getting these posts more visibility.
The transphobes found your post and they're big mad.
Lol I was wondering, how dare we try to keep trans people from being harassed?
Holy crap, why am I getting down voted for asking how we can keep these posts from getting popular?
i have no idea why you're getting downvoted. seems like transphobes are downvoting a lot of comments in this thread.
I’m thinking the transphobes found the post. One comment with upvotes calls Trans people a “silly group”, another is ranting that you should be allowed to discriminate against trans people as long as it’s framed as an “altercation”.
I reported the one calling trans people “disgusting freaks” and was told actually that’s not hate speech, so I guess the team that handles reports agrees with the trans hate, unfortunately.
There’s also a ton of jew rage bait every time Israel does something positive “my very jewish very real roomate is very greedy and loves ovens like all Jews, am I the asshole for being very reasonable?”
NTA
Thank you!
I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING these accounts are all like a week to most a month old and it’s their only post! They’re just trying to stir up hate because they’re annoyed it’s pride month. I’m so sick of these posts.
"AITAH for <insert transphobic opinion/action>?"
Yes omg yes jesus
AITA for not wanting to date this dirty nasty yucky [t-slur] after IT hit on me??? 🤮🤮
Yes! And it’s not just Pride Month, I’m seeing a lot of fake posts intended to incite Trans rage and people are upvoting them. Just how stupid are people? Downvote these suckers! Seems like half the posts in AITAH are fake now days. Sad.
AITAH for realizing this culture is the reason my trans friends live with go-bags packed?
The amount of seasoned redditors that can't identify real v. fake is astounding. The trans rage bait is so blatant and apparent that you'd have to want to believe it in the first place (confirmation bias) to go along with it. The language/quotes always read like they're pulled directly from a PSA.
It's exhausting. I report them for fakeness and/or hate. We'll see what happens. NTA
It’s amazing that all these evil transgender people suddenly start doing all kinds of bad things right when Pride Month starts. I’m sure all these posts are totally real. /s
This subreddit is good for a laugh at all the fiction posted ehre, that is it
Honestly, if getting rid of trolls is the goal, at this point all posts on story subreddits should be submitted for approval before posting.
So many of the posts here are just rage bait, highly partisan rage bait, but often without mentioning politics at all.
On the same note, I feel like I can't go a day without seeing somebody throw ace people (who would obviously NEVER disclose their sexuality to their partners, because, reasons??) under a bus
NTA. It’s pride month and the beginning of summer break. Perfect storm for a lot of bored dipshits posting rage bait.
NTA I also wish that
I think like 90% of the posts on this sub have become useless. Most of them are obvious non debates, like “Am I wrong for being upset that my fiancé kicked my puppy?”
