You are right. The thing is, with SJL, I never really saw her try to one up Hidalgo or purposely try to make Hidalgo look incapable or incompetent. I guess in the ranking of political offices, I presume a US congressman ranks higher than a county judge but as a county judge, you have more local power/influence. I could be wrong.
I saw SJL wanting to be mayor as the cherry on top of her political career ... She didn't need it...but she sure as hell wanted it...and like Hillary Clinton , SJL couldn't read the room and tone down her reputation for the last 2-3 years to erase the foul crap she's rumored to have done. You have to earn people's votes... especially if you are well known and not necessarily well-liked.
You have to have a certain kind of personality to be in politics. Most don't care for that life.
The others that ran for Mayor just didn't have that name recognition.....
I think we need to really start vetting new and capable candidates. I would like to ask Sylvia Garcia or Carol Alvarado if they feel comfortable with Whitmire as I think they are both capable candidates.

ETA: What Mayor Whitmire needs to understand is that the public is tired of politicians unable to collaborate with others to get stuff done. We are tired of silly games, name calling, blame games, complaining and bullying..... It's freaking exhausting.
We want someone that has good ideas and has sense enough to listen and meet in the middle with opposition to get stuff done.
I just watched a few minutes of the press conference. Here are my thoughts:
It seems like Mayor Whitmire is still in campaign mode. He complains about how everything is broken and that he alone can fix it (sound familiar)? I may be reading him wrong...but that is how his tone comes off.
Mayor Whitmire comes off as condescending. As much as everyone talked about SJL (and fairly), Mayor Whitmire comes off as a bit of a narcissist, too. There seems to be no bending or yielding in him.
It's is interesting to see the tide turning...and so publicly.
I would support anything they (H&M) feel comfortable with.
Riding the (school) bus is a privilege and not a right. The school districts code of conduct should state the rules/expectations for riding the bus. If the kids don't behave, they should be disciplined accordingly.
Here is the problem, it "seems" as though parents were never notified that there were any issues on the bus. How can a parent help (those that do,) when they don't know there's a problem? Administration doesn't want to document because all the negative stuff is a mark against the school.

I had a myomectomy and it was brutal. If embolization was an option back then I would have taken it. I don't remember why embolization wasn't an option.
