What even do those do?
I swear they’re thinner now too. They break much easier now
I didn’t eat them for a few years, tried them again and noticed they have like half the seasoning they used to as well
You say that, we just bought a box of the snack sized ones for lunches, literally alternating between seasoning and no seasoning each package.
Kind of the "Quantum Doritos" problem. Like how you can have a bag of Doritos that's practically bland with how skimpy they were on seasoning, and then yet get another bag that's just overall heavily dusted.
Seems weird how mass-manufactured foods can vary so wildly.
QC is an easy department to trim without making an immediate drop in revenues.
A lot of these controls are just weight and volume. As long as the batch weight is correct, the process timing was correct, and the product is packaged properly it can go out to the customer. QC is more machine oriented that human oriented now.
health tip: stop buying chips for lunch
No one asked.
Stop being annoying
Health tip: shut the fuck up
Health tip, do you know how much blood is in the human body? Do you want to see it motherfucker? Then step away from my damn sandwich
Pro tip: don't go against what most people think
pringles have never been well seasoned imo
I've tried them a few times through the past couple of decades, and Pringle have always been seasoned by having the flavoring take a fart on the crisps from 10 feet away.
the original and sour cream were sooo good back then. A whole can wouldn't last. I'm afraid to try it now. I'd run out of pringles just trying to get more flavor from them.
Try Lay's stax for a similar but thicker chip. I love the thinness of pringles so I didn't love Lay's stax.
Lays are thicker, but I found the taste worse.
That said, all my pringles stacks have been filled like normal, so maybe OP is unlucky.
My 4 cans looked exactly like OP's. Fortunately I only paid a little over a buck each with sale and coupons, $16 for 4 would have me raging.
oh man now im craving a can of these imma try to get some later
The sweet potato Pringles are thick and have got some serious crunch.
they’re tryna make you get your hand stuck
Maybe they want you to eat faster so you’ll buy more.
What’s also funny is part of the reason Pringles started was so that you weren’t getting air and you were getting all the product you were paying for 🙃
I mean you still get all the product that you are paying for. It's not like they would be the same price if they filled the bags completely, ignoring the reason that they aren't filled.
I think the tube got bigger for that ad space
This. It's the same amount of chips, just more packaging waste 🙃
They got so expensive now too... suppose everything is going that way
They're 2 bucks at Walmart and frys in my town... the Chilli cheese fries or salt and vinegar flavors are decent.
If you can find the Texas Brisket ones, those are actually pretty good.
I'll keep an eye out. The carnitas tacos ones were pretty fire also!
Cool thing is when people stop buying their shit they can either lower their prices, change their quality, both, or go out of business.
The significant price increases have mostly been in junk food. I hardly ever buy that shit and my grocery bill hasn’t increased much over the last year.
Probably because they're less popular. They used to be everywhere growing up, not so much these days. Doubt they're thinner or have less seasoning though
They definitely taste worse now too
Pringles is garbage. $4 for pressed potato flakes with chemical flavoring. No.
I thought it was basically baked mashed potatoes.
Grandualted potato flour made from dried flakes of potatoes is combined with oil and water and a mix of (corn flour, cornstarch, rice flour, maltodextrin, mono- and diglycerides, salt and wheat starch) to make a dough.
Breakdown in lab test show they are less than 50% potato in the end.
Jesus, what on earth is cheaper than potato paste
Good question. I’d wager the spice concoctions they come up with in the flavor lab are probably more expensive and healthier too!
Apparently corn flour
I guess that makes sense, especially with subsidies maybe
That's why you'll never find the word "chip" on the tube, because they're too less potato to be classified as chips
Good point!
They're way too soft. Nasty "chips"
Suddenly Gollum
Nasty little chipzes. Filthy pringalings!
Nope. They’re not even allowed to put potato chips on the tube. They’re potato “crisps” cuz technically they’re not made from sliced potatoes.
Baked instant mashed potatoes
4$?! Pringles go on sale constantly. Can easily get them at two or three for 5$.
Idk it's my favourite one taste-wise but it's too fucking overpriced
Don't they nearly bleach rotten bad potatoes?
I've stopped buying Pringles cause the price increased by 150% :'(
I’m old enough to remember when these were a new thing. At first when you pulled the seal off, there were chips all the way to the lid. What even is this shit anymore?
Corporate hacks coming up with any way possible to make even more profit and hoping the public is too dumb to notice.
Shrinflation continues....
They're just following in their bag predecessors footsteps now....
Damn I’ve bought a few bags of chips recently and the bags are a third of the size and twice the fucking price!!!
Hmm, what is going on?
What a waste... they have to use more cans because of this.
Same with the mellowcakes, the white stuff isnt even touching the chocolate anymore. It is bullshit, so many things i stopped buying already, want to play a game sure i'll play, one customer less who buys your overpriced stuff.. and i hope there are others who do the same, that eventually they feel the hurt.
This just slipped into my mind as a conspiracy theory... companies are ruining the world, so growing food becomes more difficult and we have to go buy their overpriced shit, while living in a hellhole
I think the last time I had Pringles only half the can was filled.
Eventually we’ll just be buying empty cans with the smell.
IMO if the amount of product is reduced but package stays same size (or not obviously smaller), then for the next 4 months the package should have "now x% less product" clearly written in the front
Keeping the packaging the same size is just scummy
Pringles have dropped so far in quality. Most have no flavour in them and they are so thin I find it’s almost impossible to find a tube without a good portion of them already broken. Honestly don’t think they’re worth the money anymore.
Totally agree. There are chips with a lot more flavour. I don't know how the price is compared to pringles, but I think I can get something better for the same price. Pringles taste like they didn't even try to make it taste like anything at all.
I cannot stress enough: STOP BUYING IT.
If you've noticed this, or suspect it, it's really simple. We need to prove with our wallets that were not going to accept this horseshit of constant shrinkflation. They'd sell us air if they fucking could. Just stop supporting these dogshit, bad, awful companies who DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT YOU.
I quit drinking alcohol, stopped smoking, no more junk food/fast food, no more soda/energy drinks. Why? Because none of these things actively make my life healthier or better. It undoubtably makes it far worse.
VOTE WITH YOUR WALLET.
Yall just buy stax. They're cheaper, thicker, and made with actual ingredients and not random garbage. Gluten in potato chips???? Lays Stax > Pringles forever
Shrinkflation is everywhere
Just eat bro
Don’t you hate when you buy a container of air and there are Pringles in it?
You buy pringles. This is on you.
Cease this frivolous activity at once for the emperor requires your aid in combating the vile forces of chaos!
I love Pringles but they make me sick if I eat too many, which I used to do because once you pop... So perhaps they're doing this to cater to my market? Or they're just being greedy, dishonest bastards!
as if it wasn't hard enough to reach before
It has always been like that...
Less chips, thinner chips, more expensive.
I buy Pringles somewhat regularly and mine are always filled to the top. I think yours was just a filling error.
20 years ago, Pringles were full to the top, and they were made from real potatoes, not like know before they are that shape Pringles are paste, Haven't touched them since.......they suck.
25% more can. same amount of chips inside
Hmm. Let’s check your mouth. Better yet, your ass 5 minutes later.
Shrinkflation
Odd, I also bought Pringles today and the can was completely full.
Ain't capitalism grand?
Comes pre-eaten
Plot twist: they could save more money if the cut out of the tube as well!
Shrinkflation
There’s money to be made from a food company that advertises the fact that they don’t fist you out of half a portion like the rest of them do
That space is reserved for the minecoins
It’s the “Air tax” that’s what I dubbed it as.
Less is more.
Now theyre like lays
Shrinkflation my guy
They are shorter, have less chips, and also price has doubled.
So sad man, I remember when it was like $2 each, and the can was tall enough to fit like 5 more chips
Tell them you're a coach. Maybe then they'll give you your quarterback... really though, this seems to be the new route to save money. They jacked prices as far as they could, and now they are just taking product away. Are the people who work for pringles getting this extra savings in the form of a raise or just the top 10 executives?
And now they’re all busted up because of the extra room in there
iSs dUh AIR cooSHUN stuuped
I don’t understand why the quality & quantity dropped and the price increased, let me enjoy my chips in peace >:(
Is the weight different?
Was always my favorite snack. Now barley any in a can, thin and flavor changes.
Even the generic ones from Aldi come 75% filled. Bullshit.
I feel like sometimes they just executive order put less so they can save money
Reminds me of that post about Oreos where they showed the difference in cookie size over the years.
I bought a can just the other day. First time in a long time. The can said something like “can full to the top, no empty spaces” or something like that. And it was a nice full can. I really enjoyed them.
And it was only like $2
I've never seen a full one
And the chips are smaller as well.
Sold by weight. Not volume. Dumb post is dumb. Get a scale.
Lays 2.0
Pringless.
It's NOT recent.
When there's no excuse of air in the bag, gotta pretend you gotta make room for expanding canister
The container is also smaller then before so the chips are smaller. It's a win-win for them.
Posts like these are always weird to me. Like did you not check the net weight of product before you purchased it? Like 5oz is 5oz regardless if it’s stacked to the top, or half way. You saw the product, checked the price, saw the weight, PICKED IT UP and felt how heavy it is. But only when you take the top off and look inside does it actually feel like a rip off?
Like there had to have been some indicator that you weren’t going to get what you perceived as your moneys worth somewhere along this transaction before the final step.
Yup. Don’t even smally size the can. It’s just a big void of fuck you.
You didn’t get the 20% extra family pack
Pray they do not alter the deal further.
So you stop buying them.. Seriously though they're super unhealthy OP!
How much could it actually save a company by doing this?
Shrinkflation
They skimped on can diameter years ago, makes eating them annoying and I can’t justify spending 20 minutes wages on 100 grams of it
My local stores always have em on sale for $2 a can
The weight is on the package, if you were that bothered by it you should have looked before you bought it
Sure, but that doesn't dispute the fact they fill the can and decrease it but takes the same price or higher
I swear, companies that overpackage their food like this deserve to be SWARMED with refund requests from "ignorant" people (their take) claiming to be missing product. Inundate their support lines and social media!
If this actually starts to cost them time and reputation perhaps they'll no longer consider themselves quite so clever.
Settles during shipping
Sold by weight not by volume… you have dence chips
Product sold by weight, not volume. A case of Shrinkflation ...
Dark days ahead…
Be fucking grateful you get as many chips as you do. If they wanted, they could give you less. They might just give you less because you're not happy and you eat name Pringles vs regular chips. There are these new popcorn chips. You should give them a try. They are fluffy and not as greasy. Yummy Yummy.
In some countries they are made from rice and are much much much worse. In that case, less is actually better.
I imagine that having the can not completely filled leads to more broken crisps as they are free to bounce around inside.
That’s not bad I got one under half full be happy with a quarter it gets worse (most I’ve had are full but the occasional one is like this)
Pics or it didn't happen
Time to troll (eats most of them)
WAIT SHIT I THINK I ACTUALLY GOT SOME
Edit: looked and I didn’t take a fucking picture 😭
