I just wanted to say thank you if you are here somewhere. I had a bad seizure and ordered food during it, I clicked a lot of options that should not have been there and I'm glad you called and helped sort it out. You were so understanding and thoughtful and even the Wendy's worker was kind too. I'm thankful that you bought me a cookie but you truly didn't need to. I was just explaining why I didn't understand adult words but I am so thankful for the kind gesture that I busted into tears when I saw the cookie. This made my horrible day so much better and I hope that wherever you are, you get the most kindest things to happen to you. Truthfully I'm still in that end seizure phase so I'm sorry if nothing makes sense but I'm just truly greatful for it.
I slowly am, getting tired so I know I'm finally getting out of it. Thank you, I hope you have an amazing day.
Honestly that’s relatable af I have seizures too and the confusion after them is just insane I’m glad you had a nice driver who was understanding I feel like a lot of people just assume I’m on drugs and treat me very poorly if I just had a seizure(especially if I need an ambulance which only makes me furious and confused because I don’t do drugs and emts should really understand how seizures work lol) I hope you’re feeling better now though! :)
I'm very thankful my driver was kind. I'm way better now, had another in my sleep but I'm feeling better. The cookie just boosted my mood so much.
Man just wanted to reply and say I FEEL this. I have seizures occasionally too and granted, I’m (obviously) very incoherent afterward and while I wouldn’t wanna deal with me after a seizure either, by the time I come to the EMT staff always seems either frustrated or patronizing toward me and it’s so frustrating. Like I’m not insane and I’m not on drugs, please treat me like a human
Also drug addicts and people going through mental health crises should also be treated like human beings while we are at it
💯
Exactly like drug addicts are people who need help too even if I was on drugs they should treat me well but it’s so infuriating when me and everyone around me (who are sober and coherent by the way maybe just a little panicked) are telling them I’m not on drugs and they just ignore us all and keep asking me what I took so it is just so frustrating I don’t mean it as drug addicts deserve worse treatment for sure! The entire medical system here is just a Fucking joke especially for people who are gig workers who are just left to figure it out.
Absolutely! I’m an occasional drug user too and saw how potentially invalidating my comment could’ve read. No matter your substance state EVERYONE deserves healthcare and the drug stigma is terrible.
My high school best friend had a medical alert bracelet explaining she has seizures and what to do. I’m sorry you’re treated so poorly
I have an app on my apple watch that can detect them too! :) it’s really great for if I’m alone and have one because my seizures are pretty aggressive and I definitely loose consciousness when I do have them unfortunately! I had no idea this technology existed until I saw it on a Reddit comment so I’m glad you brought this up maybe someone else can be helped too since this thread is popping lol.
Hope you feel better today and have an amazing day an rest of your week
This restored my faith in humanity today. You're an awesome person and so was your dasher. I'm sorry you had the seizure and I hope you feel better! Wishing a restful sleep your way.
Same.
If I were the Cookie Dasher, this post would make my whole month. You're a good egg. I hope you wake up feeling much better!
I wonder if there is a way to contact DD, maybe by email, and give a shout out to your dasher? I once helped a really nice fellow with a big custom order at my job, and I guess he must have really appreciated the help because he sent my boss an email afterwards saying some really kind things about me. It made my day and was a huge self esteem boost, but I also got a gift card from the company as a thank you for being a good representative for the brand and whatnot. Since then I try to pay it forward and do the same for other people. I know Door Dash isn't the most traditional company so I don't know what would happen, but it might be nice to try reaching out.
i did this once with a dominos delivery man. my brother ordered pizza whilst stoned and when it was delivered, my brother passed out on the delivery man. delivery man caught him, lay him down and shouted up for help, and didn't leave until my brother was back round and okay (it was just me and him in the house, i was 18 he was 15)
delivery guy bless his heart even wanted to call am ambulance but i soon realised that my brother was stoned as hell and when he came round he just wanted to eat his pizza. told my brother i'd dropkick him if he ever pulled a stunt like that and emailed the dominos telling them how brilliant the driver was. they emailed back and i remember it beginning with 'we don't often get to respond to positive feedback like this'
people complain so much (sometimes, rightfully so) but when someone goes that extra mile it should be shouted louder than the complaints!
It's so true! People are 10× more likely to share bad experiences than good ones, I love to recognize when someone does well. You never know, maybe it could really help them when they go to ask for a raise or promotion. Plus, some jobs can be so thankless and people need a boost to get them through the day.
Yes and in my 14 years of experience delivering, the "bad experiences" are weird drunks or racists calling back to say dumb things.
This is why I always try to leave reviews of places I really like. Especially if I can name someone who went above and beyond.
Asking for a manager in a restaurant to praise your service is especially fun, because the server usually assumes it's bad news but will also probably try to eavesdrop (I know I did anytime a manager was requested, even if it wasn't my table lol). So it's a nice surprise for them.
Id actually like to do that, I'll have to see if I can.
It's crazy how much complimenting a good worker to corporate can benefit them. I used to go to a trampoline park all the time during my mid teens, and just leaving a good yahoo review shouting some of the staff out was enough for them to get some gift cards. Also had it happen for me once at my old job, really kept managers off my ass for a while. I wish more people would take the time to do it if someone really was recognizably exceptional at their job, people don't seem to care to anymore. I only ever see it from people that are well retired.
I wasn't that driver, but reading this made my day
Yayyy feel better
My next door neighbor growing up would have seizures. Her daughter, my age, would come over in tears and my family would rush over to help.
I know seizures aren't easy and I'm glad you found helpers, in their own small way.
Your title reminded me of Mario saying this by adding the “a” in.
Now I can't unheard Mario say my title lol
Stay safe I know how it is to have those
It's wonderful to read this.
I hope you're feeling better 💓
Hoping you feel better soon and have a wonderful rest of your week! It’s amazing to hear how helpful and kind this driver was, and I hope they’re doing well too.
So happy you had a good experience. I hope you’re out of the seizure and get some good rest tonight and are seizure free longer than you ever have been before after this. Sending you well wishes and love.
I hope your doing ok. I understand what your going through and don’t ever feel bad for the confusion going on dealing with seizures
Aww, what a sweet story. I hope the Dasher sees it. Hope you are feeling better!
I once had a stacked order to a elderly lady who I will chat with during slow days waiting for orders. She didn’t answer the door nor was on the porch as usual so I delivered the 2nd order a few blocks away and returned to her house, dang near looked like a burglar trying to break in (looking in all windows and doors) finally was able to see her signal me to come in… long story short she was having a bad low sugar episode and that’s why she had ordered a frappe. I canceled my dash and spent the next hour making sure she was ok and just chatting. Hasn’t ordered in a long time hope she’s still alive as her kids were terrible and wouldn’t lift a finger for her.
I'm glad I wasn't your Dasher because I'm not sure I would have caught this and helped.
I'm so used to DD screens that list every single ingredient that is just "a normal cheeseburger" that I almost glaze over all the details.
I'm assuming that this is what caught the driver's attention. Glad that driver was able to help because I could see many drivers not seeing anything out of the norm. And if they did, might think "Not going to be nosey. People are allowed to order what they want"
So the fact that it worked out is great.
10 years of Epilepsy here!
This story made my day. Tomorrow I’ll be one year seizure free, hang in there.
Life has dragged me to incredibly dark depths, I wake up everyday thankful that I stood my ground and never gave up. Stay strong, life is beautiful; and that moment was just a reminder for you!
Oh wow that's amazing!
And it really was, I'm so used to people being rude to me and so this was just such an amazing gesture.
Well when you're out of that phase enjoy your cookie and don't choke
I did, it was the chocolate chip cookie from Wendy's. Pretty good actually.
Their sugar cookies rule on various levels, just FYI lol
Amen, I don't care about Wendy's one way or the other but their sugar cookies are amaze
Oh 100% agree. This was actually the first time I had their Choco chip cookie. Not complaining but sugar cookie definitely beats all
You are both very decent people.
Wow, just wow! Restores some faith in this world.
Thank you for sharing this post. I am not a Dasher but I order from DoorDash a few times a week! Kindness is always a good thing! Hope you are feeling better!
Love you!!
I have seizures too OP and have done similar things; just random actions that make no sense like you’re on auto pilot. It’s a scary feeling, especially when you’ve effected someone else.
Sending love to you & your dasher <3
My mom had epilepsy and this totally feels like something she would have experienced. Thanks to that dasher for being awesome
You appear kinder and more coherent in your end seizure phase, than a lot of healthy people out there.
Wish you the best.
I always try to be kind. Thank you and I wish you the best too.
Oh dang, was this a pseudo-seizure or epileptic seizure? My ex-wife had the pseudo a lot. :(
Non epileptic seizure or NES. It kinda acts like an absent seizure and a focal seizure just a tiny bit. It's how my doctor explained it to me. All I know is it makes me dazed, confused, aloof, and wander around and like I don't know my surroundings.
This made me tear up. I hope you have a speedy recovery & also hope that your heart always stays kind 💕
You should try posting in r/doordash_drivers maybe they are there
Maybe but I'd rather just leave the post in here. I'm just uncomfortable with the thought of posting in something that has drivers as the main target.
My wife goes through the same problem so I totally would have understood. Some people are assholes and my wife had someone try to deliver us a large pizza with 77 extra sides of cheese. They tried to charge her 97.50 for one pizza they knew was a problem. We sued and got 2k and free pizza anytime we want for their malice
This is such a wholesome post! Glad you had a good driver!💜
I’m sorry that happened. How does one order door dash during a seizure though?
there are many different types of seizures
The brain is a very odd thing. You can have focal seizures and nobody can even really tell they’re happening. You can have other types of seizures and do odd things like put a hair brush in your mouth, eat perfume, or even order something you had no intentions of ordering. Seizures are hellish and can be seen in many many forms.
Great answer, I worked as a Rehabilitation Specialist for 30 years (retired now) and witnessed individuals experiencing seizures and behaviors in many different forms.
As a DD manager this warms my heart. I'm glad one of our dedicated dashers could help you in your time of need.
This is so wholesome, whoever that driver was, you the real MVP
Wow! That’s a jaw droppingly awesome post.
Awhh this was beautiful. I hope you feeling better OP. you are a good egg!
We need more of this online
Wow your post made me cry in a good way 🙂
I hope everyone who helped with that situation is blessed with an abundance of happiness, and I pray you feel better ASAP and don’t get hit with any more seizures for as long as possible. I know that’s torture on y’all. Bless you all!
😢 i wish i could hug you
I did not expect to read a DoorDash subreddit and then cry immensely
This is probably the best post ever put on here.
your welcome(i didn't deliver this one but i deliver everyday)
I somehow imagine this said in Homer Simpson’s voice „have a seizure… must order food“
It is nice to come here and see a good story. Most posters (?) just come here to complain.
Thank you and I hope that you get better.
Dude when i had my seizure when i came to, i felt like i was waking up for a nap.
Didn’t even know what day of the week it was.
Did you not tip the driver ?
I tipped 10 bucks.
Awesome, then he knows he did well
“A 5 minutes ago” made me read the rest of this in Mario’s voice
tips 47 cents
I tipped 10 dollars
Lies, im that driver and I only got 47 cents. Its ok I would have done this regardless.
I'm not gonna feed into you. You clearly just want drama and that's not going to happen. I know you aren't because the Dasher I had thanked me for the ten dollars and said that was the highest tip he had all day. You are the liar here.
That’s so sad that you came on Reddit to post something nice like this and some miserable troll tries to piss on it. Either way, your post put a much needed smile on my face and I hope the positive karma continues.
Yeah, it's sad but I knew some people would be mad. It's the internet, people are mad when others get happiness that they can't have.
I'm glad it made you smile :3
I never thanked you. You didnt understand adult words like you mentioned. It’s whatever. Im not nice for tips its my nature. I just wanted the truth out there.
Get this asshole removed. You’re worthless to society.
God damn so rude?
That's not how seizures work
All seizures are different. I don't have convulsion seizures. I have absent seizures which just make me confused, aloof, and wander around not knowing where I am. So yes, it is how seizures work.
Ex boyfriend has absent seizures, definitely how these kind of seizures work!
The driver would probably be like “your welcome, cudda tipped more but whatever”
No problem, you are welcome anytime, can I get the cookies back plz and thank you. 😂
Not funny
Get a life
Calling bullshit. Nobody is using Doordash during a seizure - maybe in the post-ictal state of confusion. OP states they have absence seizures in a comment, but these are specifically characteristics by a period of UNRESPONSIVENESS, which would not permit using a phone-based app to select a restaurant, click on optio s, and submit an order.
"Absence seizures are brief seizures during which the patient is unresponsive."
Well that's how my seizures work. I'm diagnosed with NES which are still seizures so yes, I do have seizures. I do not need to explain or prove myself to some strangers who believe every story is fake.
Not every story is fake, but yours is. I am familiar with NES, and they will also prevent you from performing a complex task like ordering door dash. Once again, maybe in the confused post-ictal state you did this, but not while actively seizing.
Hey… just STFU. Nobody asked for you.
You're welcome ❤️ u need my cash app to send me a tip??
Wow! What a great post. I hope you feel better, dude.
