Revealed: Complete iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max Dimensions
RumorLol me too. 72% battery health; black spot in corner from dropping it 3 months ago; charging port doesn’t work anymore and I have to charge wirelessly; random restarts and freezes. I’m surprised my X has lasted this long. iPhone 16 seems like a good one to go another 6 years.
At 72% how long does your typically battery last?
My X is at 78% and I charge it 1.5 times a day if I am not working from home. Otherwise the normal once a day.
I feel like it does pretty well all things considered so maybe like 5-6 hours. When I’m at work it last all day until I get home but on the weekend when I’m out and about it can go fast but it’s kinda trained me to stop being on my phone with people and be more present so not the worst thing.
You just reminded me this thing can charge wirelessly! 🤦🏽♂️ only one of all my cables works on this thing when it’s in the right way
I did that with the 15 pro. Battery life on its own is a game changer for me haha. Looking back at photos now is just awful
Ugh, I want that new camera, but I just have no reason to upgrade my iPhone XS. It still works beautifully. Yeah, the battery is a little weak, but practically the only time it matters is when I'm walking around all day without a bag. If I'm at my desk, it's on a charge pad. If I'm in my car, it's in the cradle, charging. If I'm traveling, I've got a bag with a portable battery I can plug into.
I just have no reason to upgrade beyond photo quality, and that boost is not worth $1,000.
My iPhone XR is holding on for dear life
I’ve got a 12 Pro I have no interest in replacing. It runs beautifully, battery life is still fine, storage isn’t an issue, etc. I really feel like people need to be hanging onto these things for 5-6 years at a minimum, especially since Apple supports old versions of iOS for so long.
Yeah this was bought October 2018. I’m running it into the ground
I replaced the screen and battery on my 12P this year and have every intention of holding on to it for as long as Apple supports it.
People are holding on to them for longer. Everyone is so proud of themselves for not upgrading every year, but they don’t seem to realize that some people bought in 2018-2020 who are interested in upgrading after 5-6 years.
My one thing is that I’m fed up with lightening.
fed up with lightening.
Agreed, I’m tired of devices being made thinner and lighter. Make it a little heavier with enough battery to last several days under heavy use!
there has been exactly 1 iPhone Pro that has been lighter than its previous gen since the iPhone 7, and that would be the iPhone 15 Pro, which was only lighter because they used titanium instead of steel.
You know you’re replying to a joke based on a misspelling, right?
That and the alleged form factor change in the 17 is the only reason I'm looking to upgrade this year instead of next. I was planning on doing a 3-year cycle this time, but I'd rather not be in the first wave of a form factor change. Instead, I'll happily take USB-C and start the process of finally standardizing all of the cords in the house and cars.
I can't wait to get a USB-C iPhone.
I upgraded to the 15 pro from the 12 pro because I never was impressed with the battery life. Even when it was new.
My 15 pro is definitely better in the battery department. I thought the 12 pro had a pretty weak battery life and I’ve owned I lot of iPhones.
I felt the same. I also wanted to move to USB C for all my devices.
I upgraded my 12 Pro Max 256gig (Bought in March 2021) to a 14 plus 512gig because i needed much more storage in the long run. Would have kept it longer if i could.
I only really change my phone if i need more storage
Would definitely still be running my ip12 if the screen and back glass didn’t completely disintegrate along the camera OIS. Now that iphone 15 also has usb-c I don’t see myself upgrading in 5+ years.
I’ve also got a 12 pro but I’ll probably get the 16. My battery says it needs servicing even though everything seems to run fine, but I’m excited about out the AI stuff and the camera upgrade.
I think as long as the phone continues to do what you need it to, then absolutely keep them running. A replacement battery every few years if needed is a quick and cheap repair via Apple.
Wife just replaced her 8 with a 15 at Christmas. It was about the right interval imo. My 12 is still totally fine.
Mine is holding on while my wallet can’t afford a new phone
The XR is such a great phone.
Same with my XS Max
Likely upgrading mine to the 16. It’s time. I’m starting to notice apps slowing down or stuttering and the battery is basically living charger to charger.
Yeah even if we get iOS 18 I still might need to upgrade. My phone crashed yesterday when trying to answer a phone call from my boss… battery is at 83% but barely lasts a day.
Mine is honestly still fine. This phone has remarkable longevity. Mine is original battery and still going strong.
Even the previously overpowered phones like the 5S and 6S started to feel slow near end of life
I just changed out my battery for the first time last month and it’s pretty buggy right now. Maybe the new update will solve the issue. I just really want USB-C at this point.
Definitely the most longevity, but that’s due to how slow the smartphone landscape moves now. I went from a 6s to an 11 which just now starting to feel old. Assuming the base models get another RAM bump to 8GB and iOS 18 hits, that might prompt an upgrade.
Still think the 6s is the GOAT, 4 years back then was an eternity.
Next up on that ladder, iPhone 11! A great, cheap generation nowadays. :) After that one, I think iPhone 13 because iPhone 12 had a blip of worse battery life out of the box from 5G support and the chipset not keeping up.
The chipset not keeping up? My 12 is fine and definitely feels faster than my iPad 9, which has the same chip as iPhone 11
Chipset fine, but the x55 modem in the 12 series doesn’t have carrier aggregation and battery efficiency of the x60 in the 13 series.
Built on a 5nm process, the X60 packs higher power efficiency into a smaller footprint compared to the 7nm-based Snapdragon X55 modem used in iPhone 12 models, which could contribute to longer battery life. With the X60 modem, iPhone 13 models would also be able to aggregate 5G data from both mmWave and sub-6GHz bands simultaneously to achieve an optimal combination of high-speed and low-latency network coverage.
It’s just been super buggy since I swapped batteries going to see if the new update helps
🤔
Same here. It's at 74% battery health. It's almost unusably laggy at times. Oddly it still says it's at "peak performance".
Same my XR from 2019 is still going strong 😭 Though might be time to upgrade soon
I am upgrading from iPhone 11 and i am so hyped. I know for most people the changes are minor but i think for people like me it will be amazing good upgrade !
I’m in the same boat with the 11. Battery is finally starting to really go fast and I think this is the year!
You can always change the battery lol
Thought about it but I kinda want some of a newer features/camera lol
I'll keep changing the battery on my 12 Mini until I can't anymore. Just got a new one, hoping for a few more years!
I upgraded my 11 to the 15 pro last year and it was worth it!
Plus you’ll get all the upgrades from 12-15!
These minor changes really add up over the years. I think it’s objectively good that there are no reasons to upgrade besides having a too old phone. The iPhone 11 is now 5 years old, which is a good lifetime for a phone I think.
Agreed. Phones will be like cars in that you just upgrade to the latest model when you need to, it'll probably be objectively better, but you're not scrambling to get the latest upgrade every time a new model gets released. Sure, some freaks do buy a new car every year, but normal people drive around for 12+ years and then get a new one when they absolutely have to.
Coming from the 12 pro, I can’t wait for the new camera.
You are doing the phone cycle right. Keeping a phone for multiple generations is the way to go. Upgrading every year, two, or three is not an efficient use of money.
And when you do upgrade finally, you get huge improvements.
Still rocking my iPhone 11. Still does everything I need it to.
From an 11 you get 120hz, Dynamic Island, new cameras, USB C, action button. You actually get a lot of stuff worth upgrading.
I like to get three years out of my phone, so I’ll keep this 14 Pro for one more round.
What’s your battery health? My 14 pro is at 86%. I’m starting to feel the reduction.
My 14 pro is at 88%. I’m def planning to keep it at least 3 years.
I am also at 88% and it can easily last a full day so no need to change for me.
It’s a good thing you can (and should) replace the battery before replacing the entire phone. The 14 Pro will be good for many, many years
Will Apple do that in store while I wait?
Yes. Takes about an hour
how much does it cost? I have a 13 Pro Max
$89
$89 or free if your battery health is below 80
Mines at 81% :( the 14 pro holds a worse charge than my wife’s 12 pro.
If you have apple care, and it drops below 80 within 2 years you get a free replacement.
Wouldn’t place too high expectations on that tbh, my phone’s battery health dropped to 82% and has been there for the past 3 years while the battery has gotten noticeably worse to the point where it will occasionally shut down at 20% charge.
That’s still something AppleCare will cover if you have it.
You're better off just not getting AppleCare and paying the $100 for the new battery. You'd have to have your device drop below 80% within 2 years or keep paying $10 a month until it does.
Yeah i’m waiting for it to dip below 80. It was at 86 2 weeks ago so seems to be degrading pretty quickly now.
That’s good to know
It never goes below 80% though.
My 13 pro has been at 84% for 18 months I think. My Xs before that had horrible battery life and said 82%. I eventually paid for a replacement out of pocket at Best Buy which took them like 3 hours. 3 hours without a phone wondering around Best Buy.
Impressive! Still the original battery I assume?
3 year old 13 pro max is at 90%
Do you ever do MagSafe charging?
Some times, quite rarely though. It does wireless charge in my car when ever I drive it though.
Hmm, yeah I wonder if that’s what kills me. MagSafe in my car, on my desk at work, and then also on my nightstand. I really only plug in if I’m in a pinch and need to really fast charge. Probably what kills my battery health.
14s batteries started using recycled materials, which apparently HEAVILY reduced battery cycles.
my 15 PM is at 92% after 9 months.
Wireless charging is overall less efficient and heats up the battery more. I honestly just go wired on everything. Faster and just slightly less inconvenient
What are you guys doing with your battery, mine is 11 pro at 88%. 2020 bought
They don’t make em like they used to haha.
In all seriousness, I’m not sure. I don’t do anything crazy. Trickle charge throughout the day (driving or on my desk).
I’ve got a 12 pro on 78%. It was fine when I first had the phone, battery health was going down very slowly.
Then I moved to an area with incredibly bad, often 0 coverage. Phone couldn’t get through a whole day and battery health tanked. If I turn off my mobile connection, phone battery life is still pretty decent. At home I mostly just rely on WiFi now, completely disconnecting my carrier to conserve battery/battery health.
Pro max also at 86% I think. Defo feeling it. Would rather pay the money to replace the battery than upgrade right now
Wow. My launch order 13 Pro is still at 93%. I likely owe that to charging it to 90% only.
Yeah me too.. in the beginning it felt almost impossible to drain fully in one day. Now I need to be careful not to use it too much if I didn‘t bring a cable. I‘d like to wait for another year though.
I prefer to go three years as well, but USB-C is calling to me.
Exactly the reason I'm replacing my 14 Pro Max. I want USB-C, and I don't want to be part of the first round of alleged form factor changes in the 17.
Same my 14 plus is fine but I can’t stand lightning cables when everything else is usb c.
Agreed. I’m actually hoping to keep the 14 pro until the pill size reduces, or is completely long. I have no doubt this phone will last 5+ years
Smaller bezels, 0.2 inches bigger.
Still no infinity display
What you mean infinity display
It’s the marketing term used by Samsung since the Galaxy S8 for an edge-to-edge screen without a home bar at the bottom.
https://news.samsung.com/global/the-galaxy-s8s-infinity-display-so-much-more-than-meets-the-eye
Aren’t infinity displays really dated? Like the whole market is moving away from them because they don’t handle palm rejection very well
As someone who had an s8+ from 2018 to 2022, never once had an issue with the curved display, and I never had any accidental touches. I think that there’s also an app to adjust the area where you don’t want touches to be recognized.
Well somebody is having issues because manufacturers are ditching them fast as of late. Curved displays are about as fashionable as Infinity pools these days. It’s definitely a case of DesignDesign this fad
Infinity display = rounded edges like in old Samsung phones? I hope Apple devs are smart enough to never implement this bs
Holding on my 13 pro max for another year then
Rumor is the 17 will be a new design refresh. So I’ll be holding onto my 12pro for another cycle
17 will have a smaller notch and apparently the 18 will have full under display
19 will be invisible. Guess I’ll be holding on to my 3GS for another couple of years.
Might as well hold onto it and wait for the 20 that will be installed directly into your eyeballs
Holding on top my 11 pro, sadly
iPhone 3GS here going strong
I go a 13 last year so I’m holding out for the 18
Hope your battery life? Mine is at 79%
My 12 has been stuck on 80 for a year now. I’m certain that’s a bug because my battery drains a lot faster than before
Mines at 77%. lol. Been debating if I should get my battery replaced and wait for the 17 or just get the 16 lol.
Same. Still at 88% battery health too
Jealous… my 14 pro is at 81% just above a warranty replacement from apple…
I got the PM purely just for battery. Couldn’t recommend it enough as this is a launch day 13 PM. Bigger screen is nice…But seriously. Still getting 1.5 days of battery is clutch even without low power mode
I mean… worst case it‘s what? 90 bucks? good deal for another worryless 2 years.
Yeah but it feels silly to have paid for Apple Care and not wait for the free replacement at 79% when you're at 81%...
Yup. I totally agree. Battery replacement is my route.
It’s like when I upgraded from my iPhone 6 to an 8 Plus it was a massive upgrade in speed first and foremost. Camera was a second big upgrade.
8 Plus to a 13 PM, speed was a little better, camera was better. Face ID was okay. Wish I had both touch and face still. Decent upgrade.
13 PM… I don’t see why I’d upgrade. My wife’s 14 PM I don’t see a difference personally.
Biggest reason I could see to upgrade is having USB-C for all my devices
13 Pro Max gang 📱👍🏻
13 pro max is the perfect phone!
Fuck infinity display tbh
I want a smaller phone, my dreams of iphone mini pro foolishly still live in my mind…
Ever since I bought the 13 mini, I knew that when I do replace this thing that I'm going to have a larger iPhone compared to it, but my god, Apple upping the smallest size to 6.3 inches didn't even cross my mind. I usually upgrade every two years, but I underestimated how much I love the mini's size. Unless there's some killer feature that comes out, I won't be upgrading until this thing fully dies.
I have the iphone 12 mini. I'm seriously considering getting a 13 mini for my next upgrade rather than the latest version.
Same. I have a 13 mini and love the size and was sort of considering a pro model for added benefits but now it is even bigger than the base model.
You can pry my mini from my cold, dead hands.
I’m just laughing at the thought of how the 3 camera system would look on a 5.4” phone. Those proportions would look ridiculous 😂
Dont care, want a mini phone 😂
Id still buy for sure lol, but honestly i dont even need three cameras. Give me one good amazing Lens, like some old classic Instant Camera system and im happy.
Its a good compromise to have a smaller phone with One decent camera Lens, thats all i need.
If the 16 Pro turned out to be amazing, I was strongly considering upgrading from a 12 mini. With the 16 now being bigger in almost every way, I can't see myself carrying round something so much heftier. The size of the 12 mini is perfect in my opinion so I guess I'll try and find a 13 mini to replace it.
An iPhone mini Pro would be an insta buy.
Instant buy, right away.
The minis already didn’t have great battery life compared to the others of the same generation, so I have to imagine that the battery on a “Mini Pro” would be ridiculously bad.
Mrs Sionnach has a 13 mini. She loves the size, but absolutely hates the battery. She will reluctantly be moving on from the mini, whether they made a new one or not.
Can’t wait for this subreddit to be flooded with everyone’s pre order screenshots
going from a XS to this is gonna be wild lol
Same for me with an Xr!
I don’t know if my heart can take it
Looks like my 13 Pro gets to fight another year.
My 13 Pro Max still does everything I ask of it. Honestly, I'll probably hang on to it until i accidentally smash the screen or drop it in a lake.
That’s how I feel. I’ll probably get a new battery and call it a day.
13 pro can make it another 2-3 years easily imo. Apple overpowered it imo because they started to carry over the processor into the 14.
My iPhone 13 Pro is still performing at 100%. Unlike my one year old i7 windows laptop :(
lol
I fail to see the difference between the 13 pro and the 15 pro right now. Dynamic Island is just the notch with extra steps lol
Better camera, USB-C, AoD, action button, titanium frame making it lighter, brighter screen with marginally better PPI.
Downside is you lose the physical SIM tray
These are really minimal tbh, outside the USB-C upgrade. I’ve got a 14 pro max and my wife has a 13 pro max. I was considering a 16 pro to get back to “standard” size so it’s easier to bring on a run… but I may hold out another year.
Finally removing the last of lightning from my life would be neat, though.
Every time I moved between car, and look at the usb cable available. "oh right.. I need to bring my own lightning cable"
I just got another iPhone 13 mini, should show up today. Should keep me in good shape for years to come.
Gonna upgrade from an 11 Pro Max. Cant wait!
I have a 12 Pro and am ready to upgrade, but was really hoping for my next phone to be lighter. I’m sick of phones getting heavier. But maybe I just need to go with the 16 and not 16 Pro.
I think these are still slightly lighter than the 12 pro. My 15 pro max is quite a bit lighter than my old 12 pro max.
Really there no reason for me to upgrade from a 15 pro. A slightly bigger screen isn’t worth 1k
I’m only going to upgrade because my T-Mobile plan lets me, but I also need to go back to a max phone. The battery life on the standard is so much worse in my experience. I had a 14 pro max and it was great. Got the 15 pro for the usb c, but not the max to save money, and I regret it only because of the battery life
I have a 14 pro max. I had to check what model I had because it seems like there’s almost no difference between the latest models. I’ll not be upgrading to the 16 this time around.
Bring back the mini. I’m so close to downgrading my 14 to the 2022 SE. Too big and bulky. I should have hung on to my 13 Mini.
They should do the mini line like they do the SE line. No annual updates, but still on the upgrade schedule.
And make the battery bigger! Even if you gotta make it a little thicker. And make sure it’s as good as the main line (when it’s released).
Since iPhone adopted a usb c port, I’ve been planning my next iPhone to retire into a dedicated handheld game streaming device, because it will be the last non-folding phone I buy. Smaller bezels seems cool for my long term plan.
16 pro is going to be even bigger than the 15 pro? Not only did they abandon the mini line, but also make the existing tolerable sizes bigger! Ridiculous. I hate big phones.
Looks almost identical to me. I guess usb c is probably the only thing new to my iPhone 14 Pro Max
Still waiting for a new mini phone, apple!
Thicker, heavier, wider, taller.
Glad I’m skipping this model.
Who wants thinner phones, make it thicker and heavier!
This phone is too thick and heavy, make it thinner!
True reddit moment.
I mean Reddit is not a monolith of a single hive mind opinion (except when it comes to Politics)
There are users that prioritize thinness, and there are users that prioritize battery life.
This is true. I will now prove it by offending the hive mind:
I pay for YouTube Premium because I prefer the ad-less experience.
I hate the fuck out of ads so I also pay for premium. I also have channels I regularly watch and if it supports them a bit then it’s worth it
I’ve always been against the bigger, thicker and heavier movement! My iPhone 14 Pro is so heavy it’s like I’m carrying a brick. Why can’t the Plus / Mac options be the big lug and the standard ones stop creeping up in weight / size
I genuinely don't understand the thought process behind comments like these. Do you think all of reddit shares a single opinion? Do you believe that reddit is a person and you just replied to Mr. John Reddit?
Bro of course people have different fucking opinions
Have you actually checked the differences? They’re so minimal they’re barely worth mentioning. 🤡
Meh. Being limited to existing external dimensions introduces technical and engineering challenges that don't need to exist.
All for virtually no actual benefit - most people aren't updating yearly to begin with.
As long as you turn in your old phone and it gets refurbished to sell to someone else, idk how big of a difference it makes on the environment. Minor impact from shipping it around I guess. Phones that get broken or thrown out completely have the big impact though since they’re replaced by a whole new phone.
I don’t think making the screen bigger has to do with cases… more people probably just wanted a bigger phone.
Plus with a different camera system the old cases probably wouldn’t fit either way.
I think the 15 Pro was finally perfect and the first good one since the 11 Pro. Sad to see they’re going heavier and thicker again.
The 16 pro is the exact same thickness as before and the pro max is .01mm different.
And they’re both taller and wider which will makes them actually relatively more thin than before.
If dimensions are all it takes for you to choose a phone, i don't think you should be looking at smartphones at all
13 pro max here. I might upgrade to a 16 pro, despite loving my pro max’s screen. Sometimes it just barely fits in my hockey and all of my jeans have creases where my phone sits due to its size lol. I think a 16 pro max would be too big. I might just get a battery replacement though. I keep my phone on low power mode all the time and that seems to help. My capacity is 87% at the moment.
I'm also planning on going from 13PM to 16 pro. Tired of the big phone
Wonder if it is finally time to upgrade my iPhone 8 + 😂
Yawn. iPhone changes have become so iterative.
Even when you don't upgrade annually, the biggest quality of life difference when upgrading is that you get a new phone with battery life that is still healthy. If Apple provided a simple, cheap way to replace an iPhone battery and provided longer term OS-support than they currently do, then it would be easy for most normal users to keep the same device for many more years.
Of course they won't do that as it would impact their upgrade revenue too much.
Do I have to buy the fat one for better cameras again?
Nano-texture coming when?
i have 15 pro max I’m out for next three years, keep on with this updates I won’t budge i am not upgrading unless i see some oled and built in llm stuff or some other next gen stuff.
it sucks these phones are turning back to heavier brick phones. my goodness
I am actually not blown away.
Yeah, I’m 100% sticking with my current iPhone.
Apple please work on the batteries, stuff people can actually make use of. Kthxbye
My 11 Pro Max is near death so time for an upgrade!
Nice so I don’t have to buy a pro max anymore
Just upgraded from a XS to a 13 six months ago. I think I’ll hold on to it for a while
Anyone happens to have this wallpapers?!
I’m really surprised they’re gonna be heavier.
Hmm, I really want USB C but maybe I should hold onto the 13 pro max for one more year. Decisions decisions…
For as much information, that’s being leaked about these now, I don’t think we’re gonna have to wait until September. I think we might be getting an early release.
They uploaded the wrong image for their second screen comparison, the 13 Pro Max didn’t have the island
I probably will end up trading in my 15 pro for a 16 pro max as long as they have decent color options and having a bigger device for travel would be nice since bringing even an iPad mini out can be a pain.
I hope we will see some more interesting colorways. I Have the purple 14 pro and it’s a great one. Dark blue white and black are just boring. Gold(ish) is a bit to shiny. Give me something interesting please
I think it’s time to upgrade from my iPhone X lol
