This reminds me of the movie Falling Down
I feel like people are exaggerating a bit. I just had a late night picnic with my gf from like 9-11pm last Thursday in Central Park near Wollman Rink and Driprock Arch. It was still well lit from being near by path but dark enough for some privacy and had a nice view of the city. We had minor issues with bugs but not anymore than usual and could be fixable with bug spray if we were more prepared. I did see or hear any rats or raccoons at all during the picnic. Obviously keep food to a minimum and make sure it’s coverable and not just out to attract pest. Also don’t be deep in the park like an idiot and be close to the edges or the south end where people are more likely to be.
I agree with everyone saying focus on growth, but I don’t think it’s a bad idea to have a little fun with dividend investing too. I focus on growth in 401k, Roth IRA, and brokerage, but for my HSA I invest in dividends. Seems like the biggest and scariest obstacle in retirement after your house is paid for is random medical expenses. Doesn’t seem like the worst idea to have some tax free dividend income specifically earmarked for medical expenses like Medicare and healthcare plan premiums, any co pays, and miscellaneous expenses barring any major surgeries. I’m sure I could do a total market fund and get more growth but what’s the fun in that. I’m like a year and a half out of college now so similar to where you are and at the end of the day I don’t think it really matters since we’re investing at a young age.
Of course the highest life expectancy and only green county in Tennessee is Williamson, the richest one.
Cap. If you did a survey on what people would rank as their first pick for the McDonald’s, Burger King, Popeyes, and taco John’s at exit 8, taco John’s would be dead last. The fact the locations in town have closed and the only surviving one is next to a highway isn’t a great look
They’re all badly placed. The one on Fort Campbell blvd was just across the street from El Grullo which is 10 times better. The one on riverside was right across from Taco Bell which is still better and people know it.
I feel like it does pretty well all things considered so maybe like 5-6 hours. When I’m at work it last all day until I get home but on the weekend when I’m out and about it can go fast but it’s kinda trained me to stop being on my phone with people and be more present so not the worst thing.
Lol me too. 72% battery health; black spot in corner from dropping it 3 months ago; charging port doesn’t work anymore and I have to charge wirelessly; random restarts and freezes. I’m surprised my X has lasted this long. iPhone 16 seems like a good one to go another 6 years.
Yeah I agree. I’m in nyc and just getting from Harlem to Fidi takes 30 minutes on a good day. Going to another borough can take 40 minutes to an hour. Having all that within an hour or so isn’t bad and you can come back to a nice city without a bunch of tourist
Such a good idea! I didn’t even think about doing it for Kane Chronicles and Arcane style would be perfect for it
TMF would be interesting but there’s a lot of risk
Hey at least we got 4 hours of admin leave to process what we read
May be true but saying that just further divides us
I thought some of the money was going to the Q extension project
I already saw a video of someone going through a parking garage entrance and exit to show people how to get around it. If he was smart he would’ve kept that to himself
I used to go to the holistic connection. It’s pricy tho. $26 for a pre roll when I’m getting them for $10 in nyc
I like the song by ASAP Rocky
Bank Examiner for a financial regulator. Niche field but definitely INTP type work. Every bank I go to is so different from the last and I get go in and analyze their financials and ask bank executives so many questions about how they operate and tell them to correct things if they’re wrong. Always liked finance but didn’t want to work in the topical fields and be surrounded by those types of people. Plus it’s govt so chill work environment until shit hits the fan
I’m really excited to see what she does with her career. She’s doing really great work at the FTC but I think she has serious potential for something bigger
A lot of places here also give cash discounts. Anywhere from 4-10%
My sister use to be on the Knoxville Planning Commission and she would complain a lot to me about easy problems that could be fixed that weren’t because a majority of the people on it were developers and would just approve anything that came on the agenda. A lot of these new neighborhoods don’t have connections to other neighborhoods that are right next to them. Or when developers ask for the max amount of houses per acre they get approved. Or no mixed used. A lot of it is just poor planning and being “pro business” at the cost of the people that live here
Sunrises are amazing too. You don’t get to see the sun since it’s on the other side but the colors are still so beautiful. It really only works during the winterish time frame since the trains don’t start until 6ish but it’s so worth it. I like to do early morning hikes to beat the crowds and normally catch the first or second train out of grand central up to where the trails are. The first time I saw the sunrise I was hooked.
Stolen from r/transit: What do you think is the most scenic route in the NYC area?
