You forgot Andor
Worse than that, they forgot the pixels for the image!
I literally have no idea what half of those images are.
Fair enough.
The first is the Thrawn books in the canon, the other is Kanan from rebels, the third is Vader comics from 2017, then there’s Star Wars vision, Jedi Survivor/Fallen Order, and Bad Batch.
I think you're scraping the barrel there tbh and kind of proving the sentiment correctly
Thats vader?!
nah you can't have jedi survivor/fallen order.
edit: development for fallen order started before they bought star wars and survivor is just the continuation of fallen order.
but disney needed to approve the things that were put in the story of the game to it not break their canon, so in the story yeah, disney put a finger in it.
sir 90% of star wars breaks star wars cannon
...
would beat me if you said 98%
And for the most part Mando
I remember y'all's some positive reaction to that show pre book of boba Fett
I love the first 2 seasons. And the flash backs in Book of Boba Fett.
then it completely fell off in season 3
on the other hand Gideon's plan being to use an army of his own Mary-sueized self is one of the most delightfully silver-age things I seen in a while. Love it.
I honestly really dug all the plot beats for season 3. They were very cool and some of them even almost executed well.
None of them were and it felt like I was watching the last two seasons of GoT all over again. Just plot beats that need to happen, and zero respect for building toward anything or... Yknow, making an actual show.
But... But the droid episode... Like, we were this close to having somebody outside of Solo acknowledge the Droid situation... And the conclusion was actually Doc Brown is a big poopy head (but he's sorry) and actually droids are so grateful to be loyal slaves to organic life and holy shit that was bad. Holy shit that was so bad.
Yes
Actually no. Tbh only wanted to show the media that is better than a lot of new shows and movies, but most people don’t think about when talk about the Disney canon.
That makes sense actually. I love the Jedi Games. They’re peak Star Wars in my opinion
Yeah, survivor especially is fantastic
As titanfall fan who saw what responded can do with enough motivation and funds it is not surprising
Respawn*
Fuck
All good, I figured somebody had to let you know
Yeah, but it runs like the acolyte.
Just finished it recently and I absolutely loved it
I am currently playing, and mio it's ok not great not bad. Combat feels clunky and so far the story is meh. It's all subjective though
How far are you? For me the story was much stronger in the second half
Not that far yet just got done in the ruins underneath the cantina where u find that robot so 2 hours in maybe alittle more if that. Played the first one to didn't really like it got around 50% done before I just stopped playing it. Idk y I just don't connect with the main guy not a big fan of his character unfortunately. Combat in both games genuinely feels clunky and could be so much better. Play s game like ghost of tusima and then u play that game it's like the fuck it feels terrible
That’s fair. I mean if it’s not clicking with you don’t force yourself to play it. I loved both games, including their combat, but if I didn’t like the combat I don’t know if I would have stomached mid combat just to witness the story
I'ma try and give it a few more hours kinda disappointed I don't like them. Loved the force u leashed games used to play the first all the time. This one is just not clicking though sadly
I think that makes sense. Force unleashed is a very high octane action game, whereas the Jedi games are slow souls like. I’m a pretty well rounded gamer who likes most genres so I like them both, but most people aren’t like that. It’s totally reasonable for someone to love one and not love the other.
Definitely subjective. I think Survivor’s combat is one of the smoother and more forgiving ones for the Soulslike genre, but maybe if you’re new to the genre as a whole it will feel weird.
After playing ghost of tsushima it just feels horrible. That game has some stellar sword fighting
Same 🤝
Not to mention most of those shows and movies are at least decent
Also it’s not canon but visions is highly underrated
I think the only new stuff that's kept my interest and desire to rewatch has been visions, Andor, Rogue one, and maybe Mando. Everything else is nice eye candy but that's relatively it, doesn't carry enough depth for me to care about
Have you watched the other animated stuff. Both tales and bad batch have been my jam, but I understand the animated show’s tone isn’t for everyone
I wish Disney would pull the trigger and let some of those Visions studios make the full Star Wars anime some of those episodes clearly want to be
If Disney announces a full village bride show I can die happily
Dude, Village Bride was my favorite in S1 next to The Ninth Jedi
Visions is elite. Some of those shorts are the best Star Wars content imo
Still an L decision. Andor is great.
well...
fair enough.
That one scene from Kenobi was actually pretty kino
Darth vader hallway scene GOAT
Big brain energy
Tbf Solo wasn't the worst either.
Solo has a special place in my heart
And Rouge One
What are the third and forth images in the meme? I don’t recognize those at all.
2017 Vader comic run and a episode of Star Wars Rebels.
What's the one after those, the red one before Cal?
A episode of Star Wars Visions called Screecher reach.
It’s a anthology animated series, each episode has a different story that can or not fit in canon.
thought they were all not canon
They aren´t officially canon, but a lot of them fit well with the canon, like the Village Bride and Screecher reach.
Canon or not, still part if the Disney Era
Thanks king, haven't watched most of visions yet, I'll catch up on it
Just so you know. Disney has already picked and chose what parts of that book are and are not canon. Aka a lot of the Vader books have been decanonized.
If you havent watched rebels, go watch it. Its supposed to be a kids show, but its really enjoyable and im in my 30s. Starts slow and hits hard from time to time.
The first season is a bit rough but the second picks it up and the third and fourth are amazing (except for the war crime committed on Ezra’s head taking away his luscious blue hair)
Doesn't even include Rogue One in the meme lol
Because everyone already talks about Rogue One as the only good Disney Star Wars movie and things like that.
It was really a unique movie. New characters that don’t carry forward. Nostalgia with a top notch villain that has a great backstory in other shows. Then the absolute gut reacher despite the weak cgi/ai cameo.
AI? They just reconstructed Tarkins' face via Mocap from a different actor and used some old recordings to give him some dialog. Was no AI involved in filmmaking back in 2016.
It's amazing how far we've come though.
To be honest i dont even like the first 2 thirds of Rogue One. But my god is that last act phenomenal
"New characters", as long as you ignore the fact that Jyn Erso is obviously just a reboot of Jan Ors.
Literally who? I don't know that Glup Shitto
I'd also argue that cassian and bodhi were just kyle split up into two separate characters though they gave kyle's father issues back story to jyn.
I feel bad for you OP, everyone keeps saying "where andor and rogue one" but didn't get your sentiment 🥲
Thrawn wasn't from Disney, or am I wrong ?
He wasn’t.
The thing is that the author came back in the Disney era and then made two more book trilogies, this time canon.
Ah, thx
Individual good content doesn’t matter. The universe as a whole was ruined for me by the plot from the sequel trilogy.
I only like fictional universes if they are internally consistent. Consistency was thrown out the window by the sequels.
The Thrawn books got progressively worse as the author had to bend what he wanted to fit into upcoming Disney series
I always recommend the original Thrawn trilogy to everyone who likes the character, the new stuff is decent but Heir to the Empire is legendary.
Thrawn: Alliances, the second book in the series, released shortly after Rebels ended and a few years before Ahsoka was conceived.
The second Thrawn Trilogy about the Chiss are really good
I think that only alliances is the weak link in all 6 books, because it needed to bend to Disney and the weird part he played in rebels. But the chiss books are just pure awesomeness and a must read.
I enjoyed the Heir to the Empire trilogy and the first Thrawn book. I just drop Alliances because I really didn’t like the Anikan (sp?) chapters. But I’m a Xenniel who doesn’t dig the prequels.
In both Trilogies there are total of 2 bad books, but all the others are good. Lesser evil is best Thrawn book from all 3 Trilogies.
The Thrawn books are criminally underrated, espeeeecially the Mark Thompson Audiobooks on Audible, those are pure Perfection
It's not dead, but it's hard to escape the feeling that it's not special anymore.
Star Wars used to mean the forefront of cinema in terms of tech and effects.
The originals pushed boundaries, the Prequels paved the way for modern VFX and TCW was revolutionary for 3D animation.
It's lost that, and that's down to a change of who sits at the top.
A couple of those already had hard fan bases before the whole Disney shit trend started, with bad batch riding off of the clone wars, which had George Lucas heavily involved in, and thrawn being cannonized from the EU, and the Vader comic being made by an accomplished comic and also riding off his legacy, when they also were restricted by the Disney execs and were allowed to do more, wish this amount of freedom and creativity was put into the movies
Honestly, I’d throw visions on this pile. Incredible series that shows how the Star Wars properties can flourish when creatives are given total control over their stories and art. And yet weirdly shuffled aside and discarded since they are “non-canon”.
Visions is already pictured, a screenshot from Screecher’s Reach is the fourth example.
Is that what it is? The picture is so dark and blurry I had no idea what it was depicting.
Sorry about that
Yeah, it’s the Sith Witch that haunts the cave at Screecher’s Reach.
I’d argue that if any of those shorts were Canon, there would be a shitstorm of fanboy whining even greater than the current one surrounding the Acolyte.
Like, if they thought the Power of Many song was bad (which it is btw, but I think people underestimate its meme potential) what would they think of Tatooine Rhapsody lol
Visions season 1 is peak, for me. It’s some of the most passionate, beautiful Star Wars content ever made, and it is not bothered by any meaningful connection to Skywalker shit.
Up there with Clone Wars 03 and season 7 of the Clone Wars.
I mean, seeing as how this franchise started off as a blockbuster film series with revolutionary special effects -- gesturing to a few vague comics and some children's shows as its legacy does make Star Wars feel pretty dead lol.
OP said that they left off the more obvious examples like Rogue One and Andor because people are already talking about those as examples of great Disney SW. OP wanted to focus on the less talked about aspects that are also great.
But he literally pointed out Bad Batch
I haven’t encountered a single person who dislikes bad batch
Here's one. The Bad Batch is bland and repetitive. "Omega is captured, big monster, pew pew, brothers!" Rinse and repeat while adding nothing new to the story.
Apparently, they put Bad Batch in because the third season just came out, and they wanted to include something very recent.
Honestly, OP left themself open to a lot of criticism with their choices on this meme.
My thoughts exactly but you were brave enough to say it lmao
This is a probably somewhat controversial opinion because I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone say it but I don’t like rebels. I don’t want to get salty or argue about it, but I just thought it didn’t hold a candle to the clone wars and was too deus ex machina a lot of the time.
Yeah man, Rebels. Really showed them. If Rebels is your example of a “good” Disney product, then you’re doing more to prove this guy correct than to disprove him
There's not a relevant group of people saying everything is bad.
It could be a group of people saying it's worsening by the day though
The ratio of good shows vs bad/meh shows is increasing I believe, they even turn good shows like Mandalorian into bad ones.
I mean... Does it really count as alive if many of those "new" ideas are rehashed versions of EU works?
And they’re often just not written as well as the old EU versions were imo.
That's the worst part tbh. It's almost like they wanted to "one up" their predecessors somehow
While I like a bunch of stuff that came out under Disney, my interest in Star Wars is completely dead. There is no consistency in quality and some of the central works of their current projects are bad or actively waste time like Ashoka and Mando season 3. The IP has lost all meaning to me.
"Anything Disney doesn't care about it is good"
Lol, lmao even
Most things are bad yes.
As a massive Star Wars fans, the spin offs have always kind've kept the spirit alive. My death of Star Wars comes purely from knowing that all of these prequels lead to the bigger disappointment that is the sequels and, honestly, I've grown sick of the Rebel/Empire part of the war.
It's also the same problem as phase 4 Marvel just after Endgame, too much too soon and a lot of it is interconnected. it's getting exhausting.
"Not to me."
-General Plo Koon
The Visions Anthologies are also solid (more hits than misses, I'd say)!
(Edit: I didn't recognize the Screecher's Reach panel but I saw you clarify that one to someone else, so good on ya!)
So basically what you want to say is "Star Wars can be good if it's in the hands of people with some actual talent, and not someone who prioritizes inclusivity over quality"
Even the best stuff from Disney feels like it lacks "soul" compared to the old EU. Legends was far from perfect but it went out there man, you really never knew what was going to be next.
Disney does tell good star wars stories (Mando season 1, bad batch come to mind) but they feel more corporate. Which is to be expected since there's a lot of money going into these products.
Is #5 deadpool?
i won´t tell you what it is, but it´s from a episode of Star wars visions, screecher reach, it´s short and very good, also standalone.
I've been hearing "*insert new thing here* is the worst thing ever! STAR WARS IS DEAD" on a regular basis since before Lucas sold the franchise. I jsut roll my eyes when I hear that statement.
I still remeber the OUTRAGE over "Moraband"
For the most part I think Disney handles Vader as well as, if not better than what Legends did with him.
Despite being a massive Legends fanboy, I have seen some abysmal stuff come from it too, it's not just Disney that can drop the ball. Disney's doing so is just far more high profile due to being onscreen instead of purely in novels and comics.
Disney also only brought Palpatine back once. They weren't dumb enough to pull a Dark Empire 2.
Panel 5 is from where?
Rebels is the same quality as all these divisive live action shows if not worse. Inquisitors, Loth-wolves, time travel. Reddit is blinded by nostalgia for that show. Kanan, Hera, and Bendu were the only good original characters of that show.
Jedi Survivor was fantastic. Comes close to being on par with the greats from Lucasarts golden age.
Vader comics are good, but some elements would not be well received by the general fandom.
Only read the first Thrawn book. My russian site went down when the invasion happened and I haven’t tried to find a new source for pirating the books.
Bad Batch was surprisingly good. The mistakes that were initially made with Ahsoka, Ezra, and Kaz were not made with Omega. Took the team four tries to create a kid not be annoying on debut.
Star Wars visions, it’s from the episode Screecher Reach, made by a animation studio called Cartoon Saloon.
About rebels, have to say that I disagree but it’s okay if you think it’s bad, and not exactly it’s only nostalgia, here you can see the ratio of ratings. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt2930604/ratings/?ref_=tt_ov_rt
Sadly to hear that, they are pretty good and the author of the first trilogy made them.
Never understood why Ezra was annoying for most people…
But I liked Jar Jar when I was young so Maybe I’m the problem lol
Oh yeah, the Visions show is great. Love the variety and the detachment from the rest of the franchise really helps consuming the less appealing episodes.
I’ll read the novels eventually. Thrawn’s great. Had hoped for a long time the Chiss would be a major entity in the sequels.
I actually think Ahsoka and Ezra were fine and Omega was Annoying. Mainly because she was a muguffin in Season 1 and had a bad habit of not listening when the experienced soldiers told her no.
To be honest I figured how Omega was in season One could be argued as having spent her early life on Kamino which caused her to have a more optimistic and naive way of thinking seeing as she’d never even seen dirt before the start of the show
You put zero movies and only 2 TV shows, one of which is bad and the other is mediocre overall.
You also forgot the one good thing which was Andor.
I think the point stands that most Disney SW is bad.
The new darth vader comics (Not the rerun where they tried to fit in the sequel trilogy and dark heart of the sith and from there on, please go rot in hell) are literally a huge part of my life and helped me a lot, and I love them
Tbh most of that wasn’t that great tbh. They put out a looooot more misses than hits.
I used to be a hardcore Star Wars fan but since the last Jedi things have only gone more and more downhill. Everything feels like lifeless corporate cash grabs with propaganda mixed in. I love the Jedi games tho that’s really all I have left.
Now add all the recent movies, the majority of the SW D+ shows and that platforms sub numbers, the Star Wars hotel, SW weekends at the parks, The High Republic, the overall merch sale numbers and basically all the major YTers, particularly SWT recent thoughts
Wait a min....
Im going to say this once because some people skulls are thick, a Star Wars movie bombed in theaters which forced them into streaming and now that they realized streaming is dead they are trying to go back. if the significance of that didn't sink in with you really think about it again.
Didn’t even have Vader Down, smh
vader down? the one with the Dead man quote?
Yes. Iirc it was 6 issues in length. Cross over of the then Vader comic series and the long running Star Wars series. Legit should be made into a limited animated series or something cause it was amazing
Yeah, i agree, only didn´t put it here because thought that would be better to use the darth vader 2017, as it is set before the events of the 2015 runs.
Fair enough, overall it’s a solid list
So does The Acolyte even "kill" Star Wars?
nah, it only will be killed if nobody talks about it, so never.
Jedi games series is proff of good wrintg and star wars peak of lore
what‘s the comic-like picture in image number 4?
And the guy (?) with something, I assume to be a red lightsaber?
It´s from the 2017 comic book run of Darth Vader, it´s about him hunting jedi after revenge of the sith.
The thing with the red lightsaber...
I won´t tell you now what it is, but it´s from the episode screecher reach from star wars visions, it´s a anthology animated show and all the episodes have, like, 10 minutes.
Thank you very much for the reply. You aren't telling me about the guy with the red lightsaber because you think I should watch it myself, am I right?
Mostly because it’s a spoiler, But yeah, you should, it’s one of the best shorts of visions.
1] Those works had the least interruptions / helicoptering by Disney 2] They were made/conceived before 2020 [yes they're still ongoing by they were created before bleak dystopia Of post 2020 Lucasfilm] 3] With the exception of Fallen Order and Survivor [which have minimal Disney involvement], the rest of the examples are either one-offs or not ongoing till today 4] If you think the cited examples negate the statement of "Stat Wars is Dead", give it time! Eventually they will be corrupted or retconned by Disney's petulant hackney writers who can't stand seeing something successful that wasn't pulled out of their own bumholes. 5] As per the first 3 points, you can't use those examples to support your argument. Those projects were successful in their own right for being almost independent and free from Disney Lucasfilm's heavy involvement. 6] Where is Andor and the first season of The Mandalorian?
I'm seriously dumbfounded that there's always people thinking that just one or a few divisive shows (haven't seen Acolyte yet, staying neutral) that not even everyone watches is gonna be enough to kill one of the most popular and beloved fictional franchises of all time.
Same.
Even more because it’s not even that many shows, Rebels itself is longer than three of them.
I mean that’s not really much. The Thrawn stuff is based on something from legends and by Timothy Zahn. Bad batch is an extension of the clone wars. And Jedi survivor is great but considering how many years it’s been and how few games they’ve put out it’s not really a good sign. The comics I have enjoyed.
Just because theyre making it doesnt mean we're watching it
…Live action star wars is dead except the few things like Andor? Since Solo and Rogue one are almost a decade old.
Everything shown makes the first panel correct?
Rogue one was awesome. Gave up after Fett. Don't think I'll be back. Not my star wars anymore. I look at Thrawn and all I can see is how much better it could have been if they just did the Zahn novels.
Way to prove the point?
Rouge one was Disney right? If it was then it’s definitely up there with some of the best Disney movies
Yeah, only didn’t put it here because it’s live action and most people know about this type of thing.
Exactly!
Thats a few gems in a sea of garbage.
The original statement still stands. Rip Star Wars as we once knew it
I don't understand people's opinions on Rebels. The Inquisitors flying off with lightsaber helicopters was probably the dumbest thing I've ever seen. Couldn't stand Ezra either. I genuinely don't get it. It had a few good episodes but I definitely don't think it deserves a lot of the praise it gets.
And Mando!
Take everything in this meme and make it lame and put a gay chick in it and fire any writer or director who disagrees
The audiobooks have reinvigorated my love for this franchise. High Republic has been such a goddamn treat
It still doesnt excuse what theyre doing with Acolyte.
The Thrawn trilogy on audiobook opened up a completely new world of Star Wars for me. Timothy Zahn’s writing made Thrawn my new favorite character. Wish I could listen to them for the first time again!
I'd like to note this is all animated. The Dave verse is killing it. And who ever wrote andor (I'm ganna pretend to know) it was great.
Listens guys if Star Wars can survive “I don’t like sand“ and jar jar binks It can survive “the power of one” and a campfire in space
Yep

Well…
You has a point so sorry.
Well shit now I feel like an asshole. I didn’t expect a response haha. You chose great scenes and everyone liked your meme. Sorry man 😭
Nah, that’s ok, don’t worry about it 😅
How soon we forget season 7 of TCW.
What’s the 3rd image going down from the left? Tf is that, Grievous Horror?
It’s fun to think about how 25 years ago people were screaming about how Star Wars died with the Phantom Menace.
Lucas was accused of killing Star Wars for 16 years until TFA came out. There is no complaint about Acolyte that wasn’t/couldn’t be made about the prequels.
Who tf is out here disliking Mandalorian or Andor?
Idk I think people hate way too much, I don’t think there has been an entry into Star Wars I haven’t enjoyed, be it Lucas or Disney, they’re all good imo. More Star Wars = Good Star Wars
Go on, tell me I’m the problem
Mando season 1 and 2 and andor
Don’t forget the fact that SWTOR is still alive
Can someone explain what are each of the images ? I am a SW noob.
Star wars IS good and everithing. But I also like Warhammer. I don't like people yelling this or thats IS better. Both are doferent and both are good.
Also sorry for my bad english. This IS not my first languaje.
What's the average age of everything posted here?
not everything from disney is bad but around 75 percent of it is compared to about 30 percent of it during lucases time.
And no one cares. Perfect examples of why its dead lol
This subreddit is coping hard it is true nobody cares. Aside from telling people how bad the shows are nobody talks or thinks about star wars. Andor flopped, Ahsoka flopped, The acolyte has even lower viewership than those flops.
Well then case closed no need to bitch about the bad ones anymore. Despite not caring a lot of people still do complain about anything in star wars
I dont even know what point you're trying to make lol.
Didn’t really prove your point here sponge bob
Gonna be honest, so far nothing from Disney has really gotten me interested in their canon
Star Wars died a long, long time ago. However, it's in a galaxy far, far away, so we're just now seeing it.
Don't even bother arguing man, if you likeit enjoy it and if you don't then don't watch it. I'm with you in here tho, it's just exhausting seeing so many wanting to prove something is dead when it clearly isn't and the other side wanting to prove it's clearly alive when of course it is, nothing so far seems to indicate the franchise will close up shop, that thought is ridiculous.
Dress it up however you want.
It’s clearly dead in comparison to what it once was. It’s basically post end game Marvel. Churning out content, once a while something is decent, but it’s completely irrelevant to the zeitgeist.
'Star Wars is dead' every time a movie came out post Empire, possibly since the reedit of Han not shooting first in A New Hope
where is andor you filthy casual?!
It´s not here because most people already know it, as most people know about the live action shows.
Nothing from the sequel trilogy and the bad batch is your final panel?
Cmon now… you’re making the counter case all on your own.
Do you think Disney isn't responsible for Bad Batch?
Like, tbh I don’t like the sequels that much, but about Bad Batch, it was only because the third season literally aired this year and was very good, but people think that Star Wars is dead anyway.
And the fact that I didn’t showed Andor and Rogue mean is more because people mostly say that both are the only good content in Disney Star Wars.
Disney can have bad projects, that's not the point. He is showing the good projects because people refuse to acknowledge them
Didn't it die in 1999? And 2017? Surely it's dead now!
Im with Patrick on this onw
Screecher's Reach made me so mad.
For those who haven't seen it, go watch it. It's amazing
But what made me mad was it showed us a glimpse of what could have been. What we could have had if Starwars property was being handled by people who knew their asshole from a hole in the ground.
Disney could have thrown their money around and gotten us a full-length movie out of one of the best indie studios in the business. But instead, we got the sequel trilogy.
The only good Star Wars projects Disney has made:
Rogue One, Andor, most of Rebels, 2/3 of the final season of The Clone Wars, a select few episodes in the first two seasons of The Mandalorian, The Bad Batch season 1.
And that's being generous. Everything else ranges from mediocre to absolute dogshit.
Dont you know the rule? When it's good, it was good despite Disney. When it's bad, it would have been good except for Disney.
Disney did one thing above all else. They made MORE.
I have no idea why since I’m not a sub, but the SaltierthanCrait group doesn’t like Bad Batch so I’m not sure that’ll convince anyone who thinks Star Wars is dead
I ment time line not when they came like the show clone wars came out before the movie attack of the clones is what I ment, like if the cannon time line is before Rei there should be cannon events that they can't really change with out wreaking the cannon future and past
Thanks for confirming that you flaired this correctly!
