Just thought i’d get some opinions.
To get into IT with just certification seems like an impossible thing for me. Every job posting has 500-4000 applicants.
Can you please recommend certifications with which you can start working and making career?
IT is more experience based. Writing a web app or joining a small startup for 10 hours a week and getting references will go a lot farther than getting a certificate that says you learned AWS or know AGILE.
1000 applicants may have a CS degree or a certificate but only 5% will have experience coding a deployed application.
Growth in IT is rapid. Look at entry level options. It is much easier to scale once you are in the door instead of trying to laterally be where you were. Certs normally don’t mean too much because an employer will just mold you how they want you unless it’s an extremely niche role.
I agree with this comment (no degree here), but got in the door at an entry level and earned certifications to move up the ladder. I know several folks in various IT areas who did the same. A lot of them didn’t start making 6 figures, but most of them earn 6 figures now. A certification likely won’t open the door to the house, but it’ll open a lot of doors once you’re in the house.
Also, CDL license and a certified mechanic option will get a job.
Sec+, a clearance, cissp to name a few.
I’d say start with a company that has good internal mobility. Talk with folks on LinkedIn before taking a job. You don’t have to start in IT to eventually be in IT. I know folks who started their journey as a phone agent in sales for various companies and just networked and obtained skills that landed them in IT.
Don’t expect to land a 6 figure job in IT with just a certification, be realistic. All companies have IT departments and all companies have entry level positions. Work your way there over time instead if you don’t have the degree and work experience to immediately be there.
Nobody has said it bro but the stock market long term investment ETFs I’m making almost 500 a week just off my long terms dumping money into it and letting it ride your future self will thank you in 20 years working 40+ years just to enjoy 5 years of retirement is not a life that u should sign up for find a way to make passive income nobody has never built true wealth off a 9-5
Don't listen to this guy I have an engineering degree go make that bread
Sir can you help? I finished IT bootcamp been applying for 1 year but couldn’t get a job. What can I do right now? I have almost forgot everything cause I stopped studying and applying long time ago. Competition is crazy 500-4000 applicants, which is almost impossible
OT if they offer it. It’s easier to save 200-300 a month than make that it’s such a small amount. Thrift and resale on eBay is pretty easy.
Thank you! And yeah i do 12 hour swing shifts, so my days off i usually do OT. Just wanted to see what everyone mostly does as a side hustle
Figuring out new ways to make more money will always be better than saving.
Not always. If you have a low paying job where you're already living as cheaply as possible, then yeah you probably need additional ways of making money. But most people can figure out a place in their spending where there is a cheaper alternative. If you had cable or multiple streaming services, cut all of them except one and you could save $25-$50 a month. If you have an unlimited phone plan with someone like Verizon try switching to Mint or a cheaper phone service and pay by the gig but try to stay on Wifi as much as possible, save another $25-$50. Buying groceries at the store, you could flip through the weekly ad paper and see what is on sale this week and buy that stuff instead of what you normally buy and possibly save money on your weekly food bill.
It's even worse if you smoke or vape and spend like $75-$100+ a month on your unhealthy habit.
Stay an hour over every shift you take, it’ll add up real quick
I do 12 hour shifts. Because of that i have days off, in reality i work a lot of OT. Which is why i’m seeing if there is any other way than giving my life force for another 12 shift. But you are right 100%
I also work 12hr shifts at a plant working the 223 schedule so I’m in the same boat as far as overtime goes. Your easiest option would be to just pick up more every shift but there are definitely other options as far as doordashing on days off. It’ll be hard for you to find another official job if you work a similar schedule to me.
You can always try handy man/looking for work sites and see if there’s anything there. Those are usually paid under the table.
You an operator?
Yes but I’m also a tutor so I train people.
I operate and train. $30/hr while training 28/hr while not training. I will be 23yo in a few days
The work ethic is insane how did you push yourself to get higher positions? If it’s you liking the job than I understand but how did you get past all stuff that happens in between to stay with the job? Asking for myself
Honestly it’s just the money for me. I have expensive hobbies and like to travel so I need those extra funds. I like the idea of having my 401k taken care of and all the other benefits of where I work. It’d be hard to find an opportunity like this elsewhere for someone my age so I take advantage of it.
Some days I feel like quitting but quickly remember that if I stay where I am then I’ll be set for life and that thought process just keeps me locked in. It’s has it’s good days and bad days but you’ll find that everywhere really. It’s not my dream job but it does allow me to follow my other dreams and that’s what makes me happy. I feel very successful for my age and It’d be really hard for me to give that up.
Cut my grass twice a month qwhere are you located I’ll pay you 500 lol
Wait ... How big is your lawn tho?!?
Everyone is trying to jump on that $500, but no one asks the real question at hand... Shit could be a damn farm field... Lol and here you come from out of town or out of state even ,with your little 3HP snapper push mower from 1988 (a real champ and a good runner) and a 1 gallon gas can.......
You know it's like 5 acres or something lmao
Lol that's what I was thinking some huge lumpy full of debris and up to your torso and no lawn care company will do it less than you signing a contract for weekly Moe's at $250 plus a mow that takes two guys with two zero turns lol That's why he's so anxious to pay somebody $500 a month to cut it twice
Wtf I’ll do that, East coast
I’m in California otherwise it would be a go
Sell your plasma.
This is probably one of the best no skill options. As long as you are eligible, you can make a couple hundred bucks. I have heard that it hurts though.
It can make you light headed and low on energy a whole day from what I've heard from some friends that did it. They got around 100 dollars a week from it and did it every week.
I was always back to 100% 5-10 minutes after donating plasma after drinking water and eating a snack. The last few minutes while donating and getting saline added into your bloodstream don't feel great though.
You really only get like that if you don’t rehydrate and or eat after. I’ve always felt fine anytime I went. Then again I always drink hydration drinks and eat something after.
Seconded. If you're a big guy, you can make more
Or do something that interest you, I like tools so I buy tools at local auctions and resale them on eBay. You could easily make $100s watching FB marketplace. Washer/dryers, fridges. If you can’t ppl moving sometimes they sale for nothing if your fast. Then repost them
I bought a tool on market place for $700 bucks resold it on EBay for $2700 just bcs I knew what it was. (Hydraulic torque gun)
That's not a huge ask, just sell your plasma.
This sounds like the most easiest and viable option to get it quick. Thank you !
Yeah, you have that covered in a few hours a month. Best of luck!
I work 45 hours a week and get paid straight overtime - equates to about $800 extra per month vs. Working my straight 40.
If you have $60K, just throw in a HYSA. Boom $200+ a month passive.
what about 10k?
If you don’t need the funds, I’d put $8K in VOO. (average 10% a year) Put the other $2K in the bank as an emergency fund in a HYSA. If you want to budget $500 into some individual stocks you believe in, feel free to do so. There, you’ll have low risk, high risk, and the 2K to use when you need it.
Steal copper from construction Sites
Doordash
Is it even worth it? Just abusing your car for what $5 deliveries
I only did it one weekend, and that was New Years Eve because I had no plans. I did indeed feel like it was rough on my car... the constant on/off of the engine, in and out of the door, often driving from 1 side of town to the other...
I made $300 in two nights, about 16 hours total. So, for a quick hundred bucks or so, it can be nice - especially because you can opt to be paid same day(?) (or next day)
I guess it depends on what he drives, prius and tesla looking better than a Ford F250
Collect scarp metal as well as copper. You can find that stuff anywhere.
I’ve seen this a couple times and have a dumb question, where do you go to sell it?
Scrap yard
Food deliveries with DoorDash or Uber Eats maybe?
That’s what i was thinking, last resort though, but yeah i might just have to get into this. Thank you
I work less than 10 hours a week delivering for the nearest pizza place and make an extra ~1k a month. Only work from 5-8ish during dinner rush, Friday - Sunday.
If you have a car, you can do any delivery job. Are you in America? Near a big city? You can easily make 100 bucks in a few hours a night.
That’s actually a pretty solid gig especially if it’s cash payment + tips
I would cut grass and powerwash houses. I stopped doing DD and Uber just because greedy CEOs decided to no longer pay well.
i’ve heard this numerous of times go which is why it puts me on the fence with DD , hence why i’m just seeing what other people do as side hustles
I’ve DoorDashed for like three years in Omaha NE. I have not had problems with DoorDash or their pay. I get consistently a lil over 20 an hour when I DoorDash. Some people say DoorDash doesn’t pay anything and what not but really it’s fine if you’re in the right area. I accept any deliveries that are over 4 dollars and it works out for me.
If you have a social media or willing to start one you could try to get to Amazon associates or influencer and make review videos for money. It’ll take a lil bit for that to kick up but it’s always something to look into if you don’t have to do food delivery
It’s really not worth it. I did Uber eats and door dash and it is not worth it. You make Jack shit. Like 2/3 bucks a delivery. I live in downtown Chicago so even without having to drive very far it still wasn’t worth jt. Definitely not worth the wear and tear on your car. I don’t think I even made enough to make it worth spending the gas.
If you have the company Volo in your area it is a very easy job hosting and reffing sports events in the evenings (if that works with your schedule). Work 1 league (1 night a week) and that will get you there. If you like sports / community, you will love working for Volo, very easy job that gets you outside and meeting people
That's just $10 a day. So many things you could do, cut grass, walk dogs, insta-cart.. get out there and find something. Hustle.
Hurd you my guy appreciate the advice 🙏🏽🙏🏽💯
You could beg for money and make 10$ a day lol
It’s just 1¢ a minute. Easy just get out there
do you happen to have about $70,000 available?
you could park that in a high interest savings account or treasury bill ETF and make $300 monthly that way. (5.25% interest)
I think if they had $70,000 on hand, they probably wouldn't need $200 a month.
What the fuck kind of comment even is this
I swear anything money related on this thread people just auto-comment throw your money in a hysa. All the 19yr old financial advisors we thank you for your service.
I see you have a strong opinion about this. Have you considered putting your opinion in a HYSA? You could also park your opinion in a treasury bill ETF.
Don’t get me wrong, I know a lot about finance but I’m only 23, there’s a lot to learn still. But some of this shit is ridiculous anymore. “Hysa” isn’t the answer to everything lol. That’s only applicable if you have no emergency fund
Right why did so many people upvote this guy? Who the fuck has $70K lying around today?
Hahahahah yeah man the guy asking for 200-300 per month has 70k in a shoebox
There's so many. Just Google high yield savings account.
I use weapthfront
Fidelity pays 5% on cash In Their CMA or investment account t I use it for my checking.
Most HYSA with 4%+ interest are online banks
I would DoorDash or Uber on a Saturday.
Not sure if you can do this but I do laundry for a yoga studio. The owner is generous and I get paid as well as free classes, however I know most studios don’t do that.
Bartend weddings on weekends. I made an easy $300 per wedding, plus it's super fun and they usually feed you
Learn a little but of plumbing and take on small plumbing jobs for your community. Easy jobs such as replacing p traps or unclogging sinks could make you a few hundred so long as you underbid actual plumbers in the area. I’m a plumber who works for a company and i hate unclogging drains. Its usually simple and makes my company money but gross and i have more expensive, cleaner jobs i could take care of instead if someone stepped in to underbid us
Get a side job
Any ideas? I’ll clean shit sewers if it pays somewhat decent. Lol, seriously though
DoorDash or food delivery if your area is good for it
Horrible for your vehicle though.
That's where a Chevy Cobalt or Camry comes in. You can pick up a new skill because they are easy enough to fix and rarely have issues
I do more OT to make more but I know some people have 2nd jobs.
Bar tend, walk dogs/petsit, mow lawns. handyman stuff.
Dog walk 2-3 dogs a week @25$ for 20 mins
Have 40,000 in a HYSA.
Work 1 extra shift for overtime. Probably so much easier than doing any side hustles that are recommended here.
Ref a sport 1-3 days per month
You need to create an online business on X or Instagram. It will take some time but you’ll be making money while you sleep. Side gigs will make you more tired and you’ll only be receiving the windfall from the taxes from your first job. Don’t work 2 jobs making the pay of 1. Leverage the internet my friend.
I just started donating plasma. 300-400/month.
I make fruit cups sell on street corners or even ask for a gas station’s permission you’ll probably have to give them a cut but on a hot day some nice food watermelon is worth 5-10$ a cup
donate plasma. depending on where you donate you can get prepaid credit cards or walmart gift cards. depending on how often you give i think you can make like 500 a month.
Alright. 1st I had zero skills except war shit with my friends. Fast forward a few years, no degree but a few licenses and some classes. Im doing well and forced myself to learn something foreign.
In California, gardeners make 100/hr for cleaning our yard of an average size lot.
Weekend job in retail, fast food, etc.
Uber
I would say ubering and doing door dash would be a great way to make extra cash. Also if you have a truck or larger vehicle flipping things on the side of the road on FB marketplace can make you money. Go to the rich neighborhoods on trash day and find things you could sell.
Product opinions research, medical research. Hard to get in to some of these since they require very specific candidates but the one’s I’ve tried pay well
Is there a small business you frequent? If so, you can ask if they would be willing to hire you part-time. I currently do this and work 1 day a week and take home about $200 or $250 per shift.
Cash lawn care side hustle. Mower, weed eater, broom or blower is all you need. If you have a spreader, offer fertilizer on top of that. If you're handy, learn how to raise sprinkler heads or replace them. There's a lot of money in that. I used to have a side business, got out of it and now I just do 3 mows and an additional 2 weed and fertilizer treatment yards. Between mowing 3 yards every 2 weeks and 5 fertilizer/weed treatments I can pull way more than that in a month, probably cost me no more than 10 hours of my time a month. Most of the people I take care of are busy or older people who want a nice yard but can't or don't have the time to do it themselves. I will say, before doing anything other than mowing make damn sure you know what you're doing. Nothing worse than trying to make a little side cash and smoking a yard. Keep it small with a few good customers so you have the time to REALLY do a good job, you take care of them they will take care of you.
Mowing Front - $25, Front and back -$40
Weed or fertilizer treatment - $75 front and back supplies included
Sprinkler head adjustment or replacement- $25-30 a head plus materials.
Disclaimer: I'm the typical neighborhood lawn dad who's yard is my hobby so I've learned a lot over the years on how to properly apply different things in a safe and effective manner.
It's a great way to make extra money and I never have to use a vehicle because everything I took on is with in walking distance of my garage.
I had a co worker who had a private security business on the side. He’d ask me if I wanted to make an extra $100-$200 on a Fri or Sat night as a security guard for parties and I said sure. It was actually fun. Made me consider getting a guard card (required in my state) for picking up official work on nights or weekends. He also did security at the local fleamarket on weekends and said if I had my card I could do it, too.
Referee sports. You can make $100 per day while officiating. It's easily the best paying second gig you can get. I make an extra $15k a year just officiating.
Easy, become a sports official. You can work as much or as little as you want and easily make $40-$60 an hour based on location and sport. I basically made $1/minute for youth lacrosse as I made $75 for a game that lasted about 75 minutes. Youth football was $85 for a game that lasted about 1:15-1:45. Lacrosse tournaments are great money as I was paid $65 for a game that lasted 45 minutes and would do 12-20 over a weekend. Granted it’s hot as hell and you have to know the rules and stuff but I know officials that do Volleyball and they say the money is fantastic and it’s all indoors.
Plasma/blood donations.
Uber, Door Dash, or Dominos
You could always go behind the Wendy’s dumpster
Deliver food for Ubereats or DoorDash. I work in home sales and sometimes have space in between appointments; so I’d log in and deliver orders. Worked maybe an hour or two a couple days a week. I’d make like $500-600 a month.
meme coins
Z Jays all day!
Sell plasma in my area they pay 200.00 a week
Go take an evening course at the local community college. Can do a couple hours 2 nights a week for a couple months and pick up a skill that you can turn into money on the side. I took welding classes as a hobby now I do it full time and there is always side work on my days off if I want it.
Donate plasma
Weekend work, I picked up a landscaping gig for Saturdays and I get almost an extra 200 a week from working one extra day.
Get some options*
Uber Instacart etc tons of easy ways to make money now a days with just your phone and a vehicle if your abele to afford one
Probably the best way to do this is get another job that pays more.
If you are not in a position to do that, work towards that position.
Donate Plasma! biolife is always doing a promo for new donors and then it’s about 100-120 a week after that. About 2 hours a weeks worth. As long as you’re in US!
I would say to focus on probably a career change to IT/cloud. Taking certs.
Before my kid was born I donated plasma. I made $500 bucks a month and all I had to do was keep hydrated before and then I would catch up on my Netflix shows.
Take bus instead of driving to work. Go to the food bank more. Don't eat out. Flip Amazon returns on the weekend(kinda fun).
Try being DataAnnotation Tech? They pay decent if your accepted
OT
Work out how to make a tenner a day and just repeat it daily
Ask for a pay rise
Work extra hours.
Donate plasma twice a week. $400-$500/mo if you're consistent. Most centers have a big promotion for new donors too, like $100 for the first 5 for example. It's just a couple hours of your time each time and you just lay there pumping your fist for 40-60 min.
Not opinions. Options trading

Plasma donation is an easy $500 a month.

Donate semen and plasma
Donating plasma nets you $ 40 - 50 per session, and you can go twice a week. Takes about an hour to get in, get hooked up, and get the amount required.
I felt kinda gross doing it too often, not physically but just grossed me out psychologically.
Ask for a raise. Get better or more qualified for your job. Put in a couple hours of overtime (if you get paid).
Job hop
Try r/beermoney and slickdeals "what I got free in the mail today", https://slickdeals.net/e/777982-what-i-got-free-in-the-mail-today-please-keep-ot-chat-posts-limited . A lot of the free stuff is just junk, but some are gift cards.
You have to ask are the extra 300$ Worth more hours of work?? For what are you saving a Family ?? To get Rich. You Well being should not be reduced for Money Depending on what 300$ on this world is not much.
People are happy if you cut their Grass if you have a Car you can buy a Grass Cutter and earn money that way you can call the People before hand and have a Schedule one after another or Just one Person Per Day

If you're Healthy, look into plasma donations where you live. I use Biolife personally, and the price they pay new donors depends on location. But where I went new donors get 800$ in the first month of donation, twice a week donate until you reach the 800$ threshold. After that you get about 100-ish bucks a week. My location offers 140 a week, 40 first then next 100.
Instacart
Quickest - sell plasma or sperm
Lower investment - drop ship or drop printing sales. Advertise through tiktok. Utilizing Ai generators like mid journey I was able to spend my weekends and create a business that was netting? $400 a month by the 3rd month
Mid investment - Uber, door dash, Walmart delivery etc
Task rabbit stuff like cleaning or moving. Or rover if you like dogs
Higher investment. Out of state realestate rentals
Sell plasma.

Day trade.
Gamble
I have about $90k in a high yield savings account and get $300 a month in interest from it
Become a trader. Stocks, commodities, etfs. Not trading blindly but using the right connections to guide you on your trades. Eventually your investments will make way more than you do at your day job. Then you can get some other revenue streams going . Then you can do what you want with your time instead of trading it in for fiat paper that’s losing value at an increasing rate until it hyperinflates away….little by little by little than all at once 💥
Donate plasma
If you have it, putting money in a HYSA might be helpful. I’m not into stock trading but just recently put $100k into a HYSA at 5.36%. It ends up earning a little more than $400 a month without me having to do anything.
Donate blood /plasma.

Donate plasma takes about 10 hrs a month to make up 800 bucks
Slang that shit & kick doors 😝
I make 1000/month donating sperm
Probably not gonna be loved in the sub for saying this, but at your current age and pay, I wouldn’t get a side gig.
You said you don’t have any real additional skills, take the time to get some. Get a degree or a certification in something (CDL, Agile, IT, Certified Mechanic, etc). Don’t focus on getting an extra $200-300, focus on what you can do to get a $70 per hour job for the long term. Save money properly and live a good life instead of creating more reasons to have more side gigs.
