And that's precisely the question. Old Speedster: 150-200km/day, new bike: 70km-130km/day, though 2x as expensive and much better spec. Nothing else changed. I'm guessing Speedster is just built for speed - lighter, slightly slicker tyres, smaller crankset - don't know, not really into tech that much

Needs recomms on new bike: Orbea vs. Specialized E5 vs. Scott Speedster 10Bike Tech and Kit

Good evening ladies and gentlemen,

I figured I'd ask for some opinions. For the past 6 years I've ridden Scott Speedster 20, 2017 - the bike was amazingly fast and light, but not too comfortable.

Last year I bought Orbea Terra H30, but compared to my Speedster, it's really weak for long-distance cycling (150km/day for 7 days). I love the bike, beautiful and comfy, but doing 100km on it is a pain for me.

I'm looking to get a new one, closer to a road-all rounder Speedster, but still able to do some off-road. I mostly cycle on paved roads, but I need it to be able to do some off-road if it magically appears.

I'm considering:

  • Scott Speedster 10, 2024
  • Specialized Diverge Comp E5, 2024

Do you have any recommendations? Speed, lightness, and ability to pull off 150km with the rider not being in fit form is what I'm looking for.

Thank you!

I did that once, was 28. Toured across Europe, living in tent, bathing in rivers, eating mostly canned food. Got tired and bored after 2 months (and it was getting chilly), got back, found a way better job. Still, some of the best memories of my life, learned and saw a ton. Zero regrets, awesome time, just be ready to get tired and bored eventually.

Had exactly the same thing happen 2 days ago, on a bikepacking trip, in the middle of nowhere. I dont think I like the carbon stuff anymore

Nope, never touching any of that with my hands. The exception might be wax worms as they’re kinda fluffy and dumb, but still twizzers

Hey. I stumbled on this post by accident, have zero knowledge on isopods. Can you explain what's going on here? I'm just curious. Edit: lol, just read the description :D

I wanted them on now :D

It's Dandy Horse Hyperion 20, on their brand hub

I have plenty of those at home during Summer. I call them beatlebeefuckers - they look like a beatle, sound like a bee when flying, and fuckers are annoying

50W, alone for heating. Have an additional uvb from arcadia

Kebaber na Starowislnej. Ten ich chlebek jakis taki inny

I got the Arcadia basking spot halogen and really like it. Bought some no-name thermostat that dims it when the temps get too high

Yep. The scrapyard shop works as well and it’s closer :D

I have a 9-year old gecko that sometimes seems so blind I can’t believe it. She’s pretty good though if there’s movement in front of her, so can still hunt by herself although not as well as in the past.

What I sometimes do is feed her mealworms/wax worms from the tweezers - recommend that you try that. It seems easier if it’s in front of her, moving, and near the mouth. Always can get her full.

Like others said, probably take it to the vet. Until you do:

  • Change the heating source, move it further away, get a thermometer to check the temp. Not an expert, but others said these are burns, and they look like it.
  • Supplements: calcium, multivitamins.
  • Food. It doesn’t look like it can catch a cricket, get worms and feed it from tweezers
  • Looks pretty pale/white. If that’s an albino, then a deep heat projector would be better than light.
  • There’s a good ‘Beginners guide’ pinned in this subreddit.

Good luck!

Hehehe, I love these chonkers. I know, I know, unhealthy, etc., but I still love them

Not an expert in gecko habitat, but I'd say that the size of enclosure isn't the biggest problem (this isn't THAT bad). Just cleaning it up, some extra caves, heating lamp would make a huge difference. Like someone suggested - can't you make it a one-off class project, or after class? This gecko would be king if students brought stones, branches, etc.

I’d say a good local burger is still healthy, but maybe heavy calorie wise. The unhealthy image of a burger probably comes from fast food where you have many pre-made ingredients (not from your 1st image), frying, sugary sauces, a ton of fries, etc. If you make a burger, it’s still as healthy as the ingredients you made it from, but can make you fat :)) just like eating a fucktpn of healthy cheese alone
