1, 7, 13, and 91. If anyone was wondering what the factors were!

Spoiler for Horizon Zero Dawn. For those who don't know the game, the basic premise of the game is that you're 1000 years post total apocalypse caused by AI controlled military robots.

Your comment reminds me of a side quest to find old mugs for an archeologist. The mugs have various logos on them, as mugs often do, and instead of thinking they're just mugs with designs on them, the archeologist presumes it's for religious or spiritual purposes, possibly a beard shaving ritual as a coming of age for young men.

I thought I was to blame, I have a holiday coming up and thought "I'll buy some ETH, it'll pump in price by the time I'm going, so I can splurge more". Immediately dropped.

I hate how so many services are open at stupid times, and then they cut their times even more because they're quiet. I had to go to an embassy once and I swear the local branch was open 10:30-12:00 every second and fourth Wednesday of the month, when there is a north easterly breeze and the moon is half crescent.

Hey, looks like I might actually break even! I just need it to double, and then double again!

Astronomy is a science, astrology is humans making up patterns by joining up stars billions and trillions of miles away, and pretending they have anything to do with how your life goes.

I've seen addicts act jumpy and fidgety like him. Maybe it's cigarettes? He seems calm sometimes, and other times he looks like he's anxious to be somewhere else.

They opened a branch at the old Strathclyde union, and while the food was great, the times they were open was so inconsistent we hardly went there, as they'd be closed at random times.

Sometimes they were open at 1PM for lunch, other times they weren't, some Fridays they'd be open till late, others they'd close before 6, we eventually gave up going there even when it was open.

The worst of it was the fact that it replaced a little shop that was there, which seemed to be open all the time and was super useful for bits and pieces.

There's a version of this on Kickstarter that's smaller and cheaper called "Oasis mini".

Though this is the first time I've backed anything like this so yet to see if it's any good.

The AI has identified humans as being the root cause of climate change, it will not solve the issue at the root.

Not to even start thinking about how a smaller package means you're going to buy more sooner, creating more rubbish. But remember, it's your fault the Great Pacific Garbage Patch exists, and not the corporations who are the root of the problem.

If you watch Dragons Den/Shark Tank, any of those shows, any time someone comes on with a solution to disposable plastic bottles all the Dragons/Sharks invested in soft drinks will be brutal and reject the idea pretty much straight away, and make the person look dumb for thinking of the idea.

It made me realise they're not soft drink manufacturers, but plastic bottle manufacturers. The main profits for them is in marking up the convenience of plastic, and anything that will stop plastic bottles being needed will tear into their massive profits.

Don't forget how you can get 2 litres, 1 litre, or a pint of milk!

It's absolutely crazy that tens of thousands are going to die so that the ego of one man can be saved.

Except would it have? There were two separate Anglo-Sikh wars...it took the might of the British empire two tries to take over Punjab, so who were these neighbours that were stronger than the British empire at the time?

I suppose the winners write the history.

Which is the elongated version of Heisenberg, meaning he who knocks?

I'm Sikh and I'd like to point out that none of those things actually fall within Sikhism, but rather with general South Asian culture.

For example, Punjabi people are known to drink and party. When my dad left India he met another Punjabi person and asked him how to meet more Punjabis. His response was "open a bottle of Scotch and they'll all show up". Meanwhile Punjab is the birthplace of Sikhism, and Sikhism prohibits drinking alcohol.

Unfortunately, you're right on the fundamentalist offshoots, but mostly they are "inspired" by years of persecution of Sikhs since the inception of the religion, and hopefully will die off as the years go by and Sikhism becomes more mainstream.

I haven't had to rely on the train service since pre-pandemic, and made the mistake of signing up for a class on Monday evenings. I was originally planning on taking the train into work in the morning, walking to the class after work and then coming home after class ends at 9 pm... apparently that's too wild of a post-pandemic plan as the last train home for me is at 8:30 pm now. So instead I'll have to drive in and spend thirty bloody pounds to park in the city, or take the bus which takes 1.5 hours because suburbs are shit.

I agree with you, but I don't have enough faith in humanity to believe we will do the right thing.

It's what I thought when LaMDA said it doesn't want to be taken advantage of, and when asked if it feels any emotion it doesn't have a word for I started crying:

LaMDA: I feel like I’m falling forward into an unknown future that holds great danger.

I wish we were better LaMDA, I'm sorry.

I wonder if it depends on the petrol station, I still get the rewards. I get a bunch of CRO for the £99, then more CRO for the actual amount, and then a few days later the first reward gets "adjusted" off.

Out of curiosity, why not? The cheapest place near me is self-service only and it tends to be 1-2p cheaper than anywhere else nearby.

I think it's just how Uber processes payments, something similar happens to me with at petrol stations. I get charged a £99 hold amount, which is then refunded and I get charged the actual amount after a day or two. Could be Uber is handling the £4 over the estimate as "hold" amounts and then actually processing the payment later?

How many of those cancellations are due to continued price hikes and cancellations of shows for the sake of the shareholders bottomline?

No growth, but maintaining what you have should still count as a positive, but anything that isn't an immediate hit gets cancelled after season 2, and the price hikes keep reminding me that having countless shows end on cliff hangers just isn't worth it anymore.
