Not into Flairs :snoo_tableflip::table_flip:

Unless it says "you are 100% P&T", I won't trust it.

This. I realized I told a story about watching someone get decapitated by a boat and how funny it was watching the body ride a jet ski all the way to shore.

More or less for insurance valuation

I think the fuel pump (assuming that's what the lift pump is) is ok since it's lasted this long?

What are some "cheap and easy" upgrades for a 5.9 24v?

Obviously cheap and easy are relative.

Long story short, getting a free 2004 ram 3500 that's been a farm truck for 20 years with 237k miles. It's been used and maintained well. Obviously preventative maintenance is always best, but what are some things I can do to squeak out a little more mpg and overall improve on it.

Not looking to make more power or anything like that, just want to make this thing last another 20+ years and maybe get slightly better mpg whenever I do drive it.

Better be using your dip spit

I like your thinking, but I have my doubts

Why are values down? Thought Cummins always had a cult following?

I'm a car guy, so definitely more poor than I should be lol.

I'm 30M and my take home is 50k + 25k in military disability, my wife works a seasonal contract job and brings home like 20k, so roughly 95k after deductions.

We don't live in a HCOL area, and no kids. We bought a 2600sqft house and our mortgage is 2k. No auto loans, CC gets paid every month. Due to buying the house and renovations our bank account is lower than I'd like but we still have 35k in the bank.

OP... I don't think you can afford Galveston. Any place you could afford to live on your own at 18 will be so run down and in the hood that you'll be scared off and going back home.

I'm not saying you should go to college, but moving out at 18 without a plan is already a super uphill battle, but Downtown and Galveston are not cheap places to live.

With all that said, maybe you're a trust fund kid or you struck it big on crypto or something - Galveston is a cool place to live and I absolutely loved going to college there.

So how about that mass email D8 just got?

I guarantee your spill response kit onboard wouldn't be able to handle that either. That's in a waterway with a current, you need hard boom for that to even be possibly contained, and a ship isn't carrying 100ft of that. Your spill response kit has soft absorbent boom and maybe something you can throw in the water which to absorb oil. All of this would be washed away in minutes doing nothing but adding to the mess.

I just had a chance to talk about the niche subject I'm an expert in...

Former hazmat responder in the USCG. THIS SHIT WAS MY JOB. I also currently work in the barge industry.

  1. The barges spill kit is not something that could handle that size of spill. They're meant for like a spill on deck for a few gallons or like a cup getting into the water.

  2. Unfortunately red tape delays response. 1st an OSRO (oil spill response organization) has to be hired. That requires either the barge company, or the USCG hiring them (since it was in federal waters, USCG jurisdiction), this takes time. Once the company is hired, it has to recall it's employees back to the office, load up boats, boom, trailers, etc. This can take hours! Then once they're all loaded up, they have to get to a boat ramp, unload the boat, load the boom, and get out the barge.

  3. The main focus will be to contain the source before they even attempt to put out boom and clean things up. That's a whole other shit show.

  4. Depending what actually spilled out, it may be safer to let it spread and evaporate vs trying to round it all up to clean. Gasoline is an example due to collecting it creates a massive explosion risk.

I always had 2wd trucks, never got stuck unless I took it into deep mud (that even 4wd trucks got stuck in) so it was never really something I worried about and I'd drive anywhere.

Then I bought a 2wd expedition. I went to a restaurant at the beach and got stuck. Sad part was I still have my left tires on the pavement, and my right was only 1' into the sand, not dug in or anything. But when I went to leave, my vehicle just wouldn't move. After that I worried about taking that thing through grass lol.

4wd isn't necessary, but it sure is nice when you need it.

It's a work in progress stripping the paint off it

Are they really saying "why even have a truck"? Cause the Tacoma is the least capable truck out there

You're not gay, but you're suspicious that your boyfriend is.

Well they shouldn't spread this stuff again. I keep seeing it and there is never any evidence other than "rumors"
