The re-evaluation of the strategy after this loss according to Koeman will probably to start Wijnaldum instead of subbing him in after 60 minutes. Also to keep making more boneheaded decisions like trying to shoehorn players into positions they don't usually play.

We've been pretty poor for years now just had a really easy qualification schedule just go look up the sort of teams we played add on top of that some really questionable choices from Koeman and there being 0 passion and will to fight and give it all in the whole squad except for Weghorst.

You could send this team into the colliseum with wild animals and they'd probably just sigh, roll their eyes, say "well thats it then" and proceed to let the animals eat them without even attempting to put up a fight.

In terms of losing/winning matches, generally it’s better to keep up momentum/confidence than take a reality check. Often more average teams get far in tournaments on a wave of good feeling and bon viveur

Well-deserved, too, Austria actually played like a team, with cohesion and togetherness and a willingness to press the whole game, not resting on their laurels at 1-0 or 2-1 up.

Even though everyone is deservedly shitting on the Dutch team (trust me, I've been having an aneurysm watching my team today), the Austrian definitely deserve plaudits aplenty.

Literally the only solace I have after this game is that we are on the supposedly 'easier' half of the bracket. But still we have to play against the group winner first which already seems like an impossible task. Especially with Koeman wanting to sub in Wijnaldum every game and his dire tactics.

I don't get it man.. our defense looked so much better against France and this game it was none existent. Meanwhile the Austrians were playing judo and grabbing our players with both hands, taking all the momentum out of the attack every time. Even Weghorst got grabbed by the shirt whilst diving in penalty stretch and nothing, no referee to be seen. Still a deserved loss for us, but very unsportsmanlike behavior from the Austrians. And of course Koeman throwing in Wijnaldum who's basically dead weight. Are they dating or something?? Honestly next game they should throw in Weghorst as soon as the second half starts and put literally anyone but Geertruida. My dog is better with a ball than that guy.

wijnuldum broke every attack that netherland was creating, he was so bad, then i realised that man was on a paid vacation in saudi, and for geertruda idk what role he was playing but his passing for a dutch player made me speechless, bro looked so uncomfortable every time he had the ball. also depay sometimes acts like he'll do everything but in reality he just cant, needs to look our for passes sometimes instead of holding up or shooting

How a country of such fine midfielder and wingers in the past can play an entire game without a single midfielder looking like a leader and a winger able to beat his man is truely not a good sign. Gakpo did OK, but he’s is not that pacy.

I know Frenkie was supposed to have been there, but none seemed to take control of the game in the latter stages and it just seemed like hoofing was all that was left.

I don't think they're a bad crop, just woefully unbalanced. There are a few absolutely class players for several positions, but like you're saying, no proper defensive midfielders, or actually pacey wingers, or proper overlapping attacking fullbacks (miss you Gio). Dumfries is really good but more like a wide midfielder most of the time I feel like.

I happen to be yeah. We famously where quite bad in the the early 80s and didn’t manage to reach the euros and the World Cup. Things got better when van Basten, Koeman and Gullit came around.

Hence why I am referring to this current national squad being as bad as the early 80s. 90s and 2000s squads ought to have won a few prizes easily.
