My fathers was easy 45-50 yrs - nephew has been wearing it daily last 10-15 years! Timex will seem to last for ever also, but will show the wear and that’s about it for a difference!

They are built like tanks so you Don’t HAVE TO take them off to wash your hands, shower, work etc. My Dad wore his Red Sub everyday for 49 years running two gas stations. I just always thought it was an indestructible, waterproof, heavy duty work watch. I wear it less now that I have a new Explorer II to wear everyday.

This used to be my motto. I do residential irrigation as a side gig and seldom took it off. I did everything else in it, to. Lots of patina, so much so that I didn't $3k replacing the bracelet and overhauling the movement. It was over 40 years old. I don't wear it like that anymore. Bought a Garmin. When I wear the DJ, it feels like a lady's watch. Still beautiful. It'll go to one of my kids someday.

I know lots of people are supporting the current trend of wearing your watches instead of stashing them away, but the Watches subreddit was mad at how scratched up my Rolex was after a few months of owning it. They told me I had no appreciation for owning a nice watch.

Little did they know I do woodworking as a hobby, and my arms come into contact with hardwood and metal every day. Tons of vibrations from jigsaws, orbital sanders, changing router bits, moving hardwood, lifting tools, ripping boards, and profiling edges. Your Rolex was meant to be worn, not be treated as an investment.
