I felt the same way about the bb54. It looks so cheap in person.

[Advice] Pleasant every day vintage watch?Discussion

I’ve had my eye on a neo vintage Rolex explorer 14270 for a long time now but every time I go to pull the trigger on one I just can’t help but feel it’s an awful lot of money to put in a single watch. I know that $5000 is pocket change for some people and while I could technically afford it just feels like an opportunity cost to me.

As such, I was after some ideas on an alternative vintage or neo vintage watch that I could wear daily that would still bring pleasure and reliability for a lower price point.

I considered Tudor but they just felt a little “bland” to my eye. I wanted to like the new ranger but it honestly looks awful!

What are the chances of them being fake though at that price? Seems like a massive risk with no records or papers no?

By “grey” do you mean imported? Or just via private sale?

Fair point. But is it actually true that demand is exceeding supply for the Explorer or is it all synthetic scarcity tactics?

Really my only other consideration is the Omega Railmaster

I also prefer the 114270 (I mean, 1016, but don’t have the pockets for that) but the used prices for 20 year old models are not much lower than the 124270 new.

[Help] Disappointed with Rolex but I really love the Explorer.Discussion

I really can’t stand the politics, hype and attitude of Rolex, but I still really love the design of the 36 mm Rolex explorer.

I went into an AD today, told the seller the explorer was my great watch which he responded that “it’s a good starter watch” and then also to be told that it would be six months to a year before I could even purchase one. Needless to say, I didn’t exactly very good following that. Im so torn. What do I do?

I’m new to all this. Can someone please explain to me how the lugs are ruined?

“Refused to service” click bait or what

Bought the name to cash in on the heritage, added 369 numerals to look like the explorer and then moved manufacturing to China.

It does indeed! But the name has since been bought and milked for all it’s worth!
