That's hers on the left
My girlfriend didn't think the size difference was that substantial until we put them in the same room
Build/BattlestationIts from a show called Drawn Together on Comedy Central. The visual was very intentional.
I like the fact that they put the blood at the end just in case someone REALLY didn't get it. Probably didn't help, but it made it even funnier.
The blood is what made me lose it and start laughing lol
That show got me through some long boring nights at my first station. Amazing snow.
Fucking loved Drawn Together.
The one where Spanky Ham helps his wife deliver their baby, hucks it into a meat grinder, then serves it up as sausage to the cast; so dark but hella funny.
👍
He's gone mental on account of the chocolate!!
One MILLION teraflops!
Goddamit, I love Austin Powers. The movies are awesome
Her vs the one you told her not to worry about
So basically her vs Gorlok the destroyer?
You mean you versus the one she told you not to worry about out 😏
"You're just as big as my ex"
"Don't talk to me or my son ever again"
May I ask, what are the specs on both?
(I wanna know about the case’s model lol)
I have the one on the right (Thermaltake Core X71) in my closet. It’s a decent enough case, but it’s absolutely massive.
It’s up for grabs BTW. Free for anyone who wants to pay for shipping.
Edit: sleepy brain forgot my left and right.
Not me but, thats an awesome gesture
May you have a good day
I would love that case if it’s still available, I’ll pm you.
Cool. Send me your zip and I’ll see if I can get a quote.
Last time I shipped a box cross country it was a bit spendy so I’m sure that might change the math for you.
Shipping can be rough. I've had an extra Cyberpower LX1500GU3 900w/1200va UPS I've been trying to sell for cheap, and the shipping quotes for the heavy thing has made it quite difficult :/
Yeah, that last box I shipped cost more to send than this case is worth (although I paid extra for faster shipping that time).
That’s why I feel ok about giving it away—it’s not doing me any good and I don’t want someone to pay more for shipping than they would getting it used from somewhere that does free shipping.
Hey, we have almost identical specs!
Great minds think alike haha, It's a solid build for sure 👌 havent had a single issue, and it runs anything at all ultra settings 1440p 120+ fps minimum on my 240hz monitor without fail. How do you like yours?
I would have got a 4080 Super, but it didn't exist when I bought my gpu last year sadly. Managed to get my base 4080 used (lightly used though, was only used for a single benchmark run by the seller) for only $950 which was a great deal, until the 4080 Super came out :p
For the most part, I love it. I'm also running everything maxed out, but on a 5120x1440 200hz monitor. I think my only complaint would be the amount of heat it throws. It was fine when I finished building it in march, but it's almost June now and I nearly died earlier this week.
As for the 4080, I wouldn't have paid MSRP. You got a good deal at $950 though. The Super is like 2-3% better, which is pretty damn negligible
I'd be interested to know what it would cost, only if the other guy backs out
Big one is a 14700KF with a 4080 Super FE and 32gb DDR5 6400, with a custom cooling loop. That's in a Thermaltake Core X71 TG.
Small one is rocking the R5 5600X with a 6650XT on 32gb DDR4 3200. That's a Fractal Pop Air Mini.
Both have optical disk drives because we have a lot of physical media
Amazing, I hate that disk drives are so rare
Me too! I'm actually really not in love with the way my case looks, but it was literally the only one I could find that would fit everything.
Yeah I feel that, I have a rather large case (not as big lol) which took some getting used to
I’m assuming they expect you to use externals now.
When I see PC cases now, it’s wild to me that they’re just no optical drives anymore (often many many fans).
This is just another reminder that I’m old now isn’t it? (early 30s)
Me too. What case is that? I still use optical disk drives.
the case on the left is the Fractal Pop Mini Air.
It actually has an optical drive compartment below the front fans!
Reason I got the Pop Air RGB was the drive compartment (and little storage cubby too) lol
Found two free Dell Optiplexes a couple miles away a guy was throwing out, hauled them back, ripped out one of the DVD drives and I'm set!
Any of these 2 systems has more than two M2 Drives and a single pcie expansioncard aka GPU ?
I mean ... My current tower has two 3.5" hard drives, one 2.5" sata SSD, and I went for a full ATX motherboard in case I'd want to add either multi gigabit networking or a PCIe capture card.
I'm not saying it feels crowded, but still, there are still reasons to have a big towers.
- I am pretty sure that the op wanted that cd player without compromising cooling and that is why it's so big. Might be wrong tho I am just assuming at this point.
Bingo. Only case I could find with space for 3+ 360 radiators and 5.25 bays
Why do you even need the cd btw?
Because I've acquired quite a bit of physical media over the years and I like the idea of being able to just slap it in and access it. Also I don't want to take the time to digitize it all and I already had the optical drive from an old build
I really wanted a case with a CD drive, but most of them seem to have terrible airflow (or just looked ugly)...I ended up giving up on that dream...nice builds BTW
Even the cases that have optical drive bays force you to make some significant compromises on what else you can fit in the case so I just bought an adapter to use my Blu ray drive externally over USB
The Fractal Pop Air series has incredible airflow and allows you to install up to 2 optical drives behind the panel beneath the mesh on the front of the case. Fairly plain looking, but certainly not ugly
Yea, everyone is saying the big case allows an optical drive, but that small one does too.
I have the Fractal Pop XL so I could have 360mm of intake with an optical drive, but the normal one and the mini should work just fine.
Curious, how has your digital media held?
What's the oldest CD ROM you own that is still readable?
Not OP but last summer I backed up all my old CD-R and DVD-R disks. We got the drive in '99; about 80% from the '99-'01 years were still readable. It surprised me. However, there were a few brands that had huge failure rates.
Memorex and Verbatim both held up amazingly, while Kodak was terrible. On several Kodak CD-Rs, huge chunks of the reflective media was just... gone.
I also tried my old 3.5" floppies from 1993-2000, and about 80% were unreadable.
I burn DVD's for my granddad occasionally so I've kept my disk reader
Because CD drives are baller
Nah I'm guessing it's because of the hard line. Pop Air (bigger cousin of the left case) has native 5.25 in support, you can get a CD drive without going massive
I like big towers and I cannot lie
All you other brothers can't deny
When you have a Nas in your pc case you get sprung.
To be honest if I could fit a second system in the same tower to be like NAS/home server, or even something like a streamer's recording PC, it would be cool. I remember an LTT video on that.
or even something like a streamer's recording PC, it would be cool.
I'm pretty sure the use case for the two systems in one case really is the streaming setup. I don't really see why someone would want to have their NAS built into their computer case when if it's a separate case, it can be put into a completely different room as long as it has access to the network.
That's a fair point !
I've got 6x3.5" HDD, 1x2.5" SSD, as well as a front-mounted 5.25" BDXL drive.
Large tower case is required.
I have a similar setup and it all fits in an O11 Air Mini. Full ATX board, 3-slot GPU, sound card, a 3.5" and two 2.5" (though one is in a 3.5" bay with an adapter) drives, 280mm AIO, five case fans. Still some room to spare, doesn't feel cramped at all. Don't need a huge case in order to pack a lot of stuff inside.
Hers has a 2TB M.2 for boot and storage, she'll get a 2.5" SATA drive if she fills it up before I can build our NAS server.
Mine has a 3 of the 2TB M.2 drives
Its about the expand ability options, and bigger cases making repair/changing parts/cable mgmt sooooo much easier. At least to me.
I know a joke but
If i speak, I am in big trouble.
I tried to find that gif couldn’t find it 🤣
I once heard a man say "it looks like an inch but it smells like a foot" and that really stuck with me
The Mobo in the big case:
Not wrong!
Why is it so big?!
So it can fit much hardware!
lmao, I have the same thing going on with my GF... I built a PC with a Corsair 7000x and when I built hers, went with a corsair 4000d... I remember one time, I was packing my PC to head back to my place, and when I went to lift it, the strain made me fart... She fucking CACKLED... Great times.
Once you go big black computer you never go back.
False! Only had black computers, and new build is all white!
I've been thinking of taking my gun grey thermaltake computer and painting it a nice teal color
5'12 vs 6'0
I'm only into 6 feet PCs. Meanwhile her :
We are the opposite, I have an Sff case (atm I swapped the ghost s1 mk2 for a formd t1 v2.1) and she has a Fractal North.
I love those Fractal North cases. Used one in my home office to keep it classy!
Yea, it's a gorgeous case and good performance too imo.
I love the North. One of my favorite cases on the market right now. I'd have one if they made one with a 5.25 bay
I just ordered one to build my spouse a PC, I can't wait!
Normally I would have went with a Fractal Terra for her PC but it was a bit complicated to sell my old atx Mobo/psu and another cooler just for that.
Glass infront of fans is always weird to me
Me too. None of that here though. The small one (I assume that's what you're referring to) is a Pop Air Mini, so the front panel is actually a fairly fine mesh that's supposed to function as an integral dust filter
Oh, looked like glass to me. My mistake.
There are some jokes to be made. I'm glad others best me to it.
thats what she said
Tell her it's 6 inches.
There is a dick joke in there somewhere
It's in there, but she couldn't tell the difference apparently..... Poor OP
My Antec 1900 case that my server uses makes my other mid or full ATX cases look tiny.
I have a full tower as well and yeah, that shit is huge. I don’t have much space in my room so I have a small desk and the only space I had available for my pc is under the desk, so I don’t even get to put it on display :/
What is this? A computer for ants? (making the jokes a bit more P.C.)
Ha! P.C.
"Look baby, I TOLD you it's the biggest one you ever seen!"
"Uhm, I've had bigger but anything more than a handful goes to waste ;)"
Funny, she told me the size difference was substantial last night
That's what she said.
You versus the guy she tells you not to worry about
She's just being kind to you about your size.
Luckily that's how girlfriends are
Women will also think 6” is a foot long
I've preferred the XL cases from day one. They just make everything so much easier to work on.
I feel like huge tower cases used to be hip, and now it's just the opposite. As much as I can appreciate a tiny build with big performance, I really liked how easy this was to work on
It bodes well for OP that the gf can’t tell size difference.
Yep, thats a full tower alright.
I love how so many are in like disbelief that someone would EVER want a disk drive....and many are shocked people have room for a big tower.
What is happening lol
I always love the full tower skyscrapers, so much room for activities and components and cooling. And actual hard drive space. It's weird to me that my C70 mid tower is now considered big.
The pc on the right is the guy my girl told me now to worry about 😨
bet shes easily pleased ;)
Does your gf use glasses by any chance? Cause she surely need them if she thinks this is not substantial...
mine and my wifes are a bit more colorful but their size differences are the same. its funny seeing them stacked together.
that title made me think of something else before i clicked on the full reddit
This is also a good title for other posts. Stealing it
and what about the PCs?
Isn't life beautiful? You can clearly see the genetics at work with the baby PC. I wonder who the other parent is? Do PCs reproduce asexually?
Ah, the Core X71 TG. An absolute unit of a case. I used it for my Threadripper build and I regret nothing.
Big boi squad! Never give into the SFF pressure
I get it myself, actually.
I've had pre-builts all my life and they weren't that big. When I built my new PC from scratch, I was shocked by the size of the case I picked (Corsair 4000D). It's literally twice as big as ANY PC I've had in the past and literally 3-4x biggerthan my previous PC (A small form factor Dell)
She was just being polite to not hurt your feelings. That’s true love.
Hers is smaller.
It's a good thing for you she doesn't think size matters. Keep her
Always give her a ruler, even when measuring stuff that hasnt to be too exact. Or it wont end well
"that was she said"
Oh, its your computer. Right.
They all say small cases are fine until Ultra-res at 4K wants to buy them a drink at the bar.
Dang both are real clean
Is she blind by any chance?
huge and its black
Hey, at least you can sleep calmly knowing that she'll think the same about her next boyfriend's... PC.
Well, now you know why all of her friends like you so much
Me when I hire a thai prostitute (my PP is on the left)
pc vs PC
At least you have a custom loop. Most people buying huge cases just put regular components inside and it ends up looking so silly
Case on the right is exactly what I have and the bd/dvd/CD tray comment is exactly why I have it.
You can nickname the smaller one "Jr" now
you vs the guy she tells you not to worry about
Girlfriend? That's marriage material
It's not really the height(length) it's the footprint (girth)
You vs guy she says not too worry about
I know it's convenient, but it's also a lot easier steal-able.
You vs the dude she told you not to worry about...
Got the same monster as me hehe that thing wont need replacing for the next 10+ years. Wise choice
This is what it felt like when I bought a new tv. I didn't think the "few inches" mattered. Not it's barely sitting where I have it. .-.
Looks like a happy family of computers
Size doesn't matter.
The biggest mobo you can get would still look tiny in that case
So how many subreddits can we post that same sentence in
Left: measuring from from base to tip
Right: measuring from butt to tip.
...does your girlfriend struggle with object permanence by any chance?
how could you possibly look at one of those, then go to another room and look at the other 30 seconds later and be like "yeah, they're about the same size"
Maybe it’s a good thing your girlfriend doesn’t see size properly.
Both are 8”. What’s the problem?
This is art.
Allow me😂😂
Ayyyyyyyyy I got that Thermaltake case! Not only the biggest I've ever had, but the one that made me realize the importance of a basement
I don't know why it reminded me of this joke:
My gf said, that a small dick is not going to ruin our relationship. I just wish she didn't have one.
That's a behemoth and a half!
wo your pc looks huge (or her's super small)
This has a lot of meme potential
when the passenger gremlin is also your gaming gremlin LMAO
My girlfriend always says: "the size doesn't matter".
the fact she has one even if it's small is usually a deal breaker for me
That’s no moon, it’s a space station.
I can only imagine this helps you...
It's not about the size, it's about how you use it.
I just don't understand the appeal of small pcs for workstations
I've got an ITX and mATX, I take the ITX to work (fits in my back pack), the mATX sits under my living room TV all nice and pretty.
Why not do RDP and leave pc at home?
For living room mATX is understandable
tell me a sententence both can used in bed and pcmr
Me vs her
threesomes be like
Is that bigger than 7xl
Oh so with everything else they're clueless on size but they sure are quick to say something else is small :'(
Depth perception is a serious problem. Here are some prescriptions that could treat it…
Dude what IS that thing on the right? Does it have a car battery for a power supply down there? I’ve never seen such a large case LOL
Read that wrong & thought you had a 3-way and she chose him over you.
Are you compensating OP?
I like small PCs ;)
this y 2 go micro n next build
I shall call him….mini-me
