I had an interview about two weeks ago, it went well but the interviewer didn't bring anything up about salary. The next step was a 2 hour long interview and they wanted me to shoot them an email about my availability. I wanted to know what I would be paid before actually spending that long on an interview, so I sent a follow up email asking what their salary range is, only to be ghosted. For some context, they're a really small design company and I would have to move out of my city and change from my current remote job to an in office job. The interviewer was a design lead and not HR
Should I not have asked about salary and just done the 2 hour long interview? Funny thing is before writing the email about salary I looked on this sub if I should do that, and most people said it's fine and important to ask about salary.
I always, always make my salary needs known. I have a specialized skill set, so that’s a factor, but I also need a specific amount to even consider an offer. If they aren’t in the ballpark, then it’s a waste of everyone’s time.
I work for money, plain and simple. If someone is going to ghost you for asking them to value your time appropriately, they are not someone you want to work for anyway.
