have vercengetorix and julius caesar on the forearm. It's not finished yet, but it's a tribute to the era of the republic ending and the empire starting
He's on the forearm 😂
Thats why he is angry 😂
I started to say Caesar is probably dust but then I remembered they burned his body so quite literally he is dust
I know Caesar had a complex about Alexander hundreds of years before but two thousand years later people are still leaving flowers on the spot he was cremated. Chin up, baller.
Those double walls really fucked his day up. Genius move. You wanna siege?, oooookaaaaay, well we're not letting you out.
His head is where Augustus' dick is tho, so at least it has that going for it
I thought that was Paul Tuetel Sr. Yours Makes more sense tho in retrospect
Great detail on his breastplate.
That must have cost you over $500 !
He was £500, in total the sleeve has cost about £1200 so far 🤸♀️ Think the whole thing including hand will probs cost around £1700, so not too bad for the quality of the work ♥️
Wow! Amazing work, yes!
Actual, detailed artwork!
Impressive.
I think the Augustus part is actually derived from the famous Prima Porta sculpture.
he is for sure!
My favourite emperor 🙌
It shows!
BTW, I have a friend who is a fellow, ancient coin collector who named his son, Vercingetorix!
They call him, Vergi, for short!
How long did you have to sit to have this done to your arm?
Just curious…
Hours?
Sounds dangerously close to Virgin, he's gonna have some tough upbringings
Yeah.
Maybe…
Lol that's super cheap compared to here. 500 will get you a like a small tribal
$500 would be a crazy lowball around me! I’d be able to maybe get Augustus’s head alone for $500
And I bet it took dozens of minutes!
Bad ass Tattoo dude 10/10. Get Cornelius Sulla’s Epitaph included somewhere in the End of the Republic tattoos
Man I am such a Sulla weeb
I kinda am too. I can heavily relate to him in some ways.
I really respect the fact his family had so much in the past but had absolutely nothing as he was reaching adulthood, and he just managed to take fucking everything for himself with brains, balls and bastardry. Don't know what that says about me, but I really respect him (while also thinking he's a massive dick).
I like that he was ruthless and disciplined but he preferred the company of partiers, commoners and Soldiers. That would be me too. Also I like that he gained his fortune by laying the D down so good, a wealthy Courtesan left it to him in her will. Respect 🫡.
He should’ve sided with the Populares tho
Sweet.
What a gorgeous tattoo! I really love it.
Wow that is seriously dope
Now do Boudicca tattoo
Or Ricimer
Get out
I love it! I want to get a Roman tattoo as well. That’s some nice work! Is that Vercingetorix below Augustus?
Who did both of these pieces? These are absolutely stunning
Hope you’re not left handed, otherwise your nights could be a little awkward.
I'd swear if it wasn't for the breastplate depicting the return of the legionary standards that it was Trajan on your arm.
Maybe kind of strange for a tattoo as far as subject, but still looks very well done. The only other thing I’d think about is about adding that guy on the lower arm. Is that a Gaul?
it's vercengetorix, I have JC on the other side so it ties more together in person 🙌
Maecenas called.
Quite impressive.
Amazing detail and looks amazing!
If that's Octavian, then the mustache dude should be Arminious, neh? I don't believe he ever met Vercingetorix, unless it was during Caesars triumph?
If you look at my previous post history somewhere I've actually got JC on my forearm for Vercingetorix
Vercingetorix surrendered to Julius C. in person after his loss at the siege of Alesia. So, of course they met!
That is amazing. the detail on the breastplate is epic.
You make me want one!
Finish it soon because right now Caesar looks like he packing.
Woah that’s class! Will have to show my other half this!
yeah F them Gauls bro.
short king with roman tattoos 😍
I'm actually 6"2 🐸
Dope
This is amazing
Ty ☺️
Love it
That’s fucking bad ass. Some of the best tattoo work I’ve seen
Looks more like Trajan
Imagine being such a simp you get a dictator as a tattoo
It can be argued that he was a benevolent dictator. Being a dictator isn't a bad thing so much as what you do with it that makes a dictatorship good or bad.
If it was a tattoo of hitler or kim jong un, pol pot, stalin and countless others, then yeah that would definitely be problematic!
Being a dictator is always a bad thing. There is no such thing as a benevolent dictator.
Tbf studies have shown it is better than democracy if the dictator is benevolent. So higher reward for higher risk (bad ones).
No such thing as a benevolent dictator. You sound brainwashed.
I understand where you are coming from, though that is a very narrow-minded point of view. The UK is a democracy and look how shit this country when you got 2 parties that get paid mega mula for waving useless bits of paper and shouting at each other over who should get a tax break first while the rest of us suffer. I imagine most people would be happy under a dictatorship if people have good quality of life and further improvements by the autocrat at the top of the pyramid. The romans under augustus proved that theory right because people say they want freedom but mainly want security in their lives. Trajan, Aurelian and a few others proved that theory true as well
I've lived under a dictatorship, and no, people were not happy. Democracy is still better than anything else. Stop letting Russian agents tell you to give your rights away.
Security from what, by the way? All the gravest threats (i.e MAGA) are domestic.
Omg imagine defending a dictator, found the Uber simp
Not defending a dictator. Just defending a persons right to get whatever tattoo they want and pointing out some facts. Neither am I getting involved in your childish behaviours by flinging insults
Imagine backpedaling like a coward after being called out.
Ah yes, the classic "lets resort to insults and self ego stroking because he replied with facts that I cannot deny"
Hey siri remind me to get Putin tattooed on my asshole.
If that is what you want bro, go for it
Great. I would laugh and point if I saw that in real life. Funny as hell.
how come?
I think it’s kinda like naming your kid baron if you’re not fabulously wealthy.
Fantastic composition and flawless execution, what a tat! That said, why would you want a warmonger and genocidal dictator on your arm? 😬
it's a really good question, not sure why you are getting due voted. I think it's the removal of closeness to the event, it's the leaders of an institution that will serve to mould European and works history. It's not saying it's right or wrong just that it happened I guess. it started with my republican eagle, I had to question why I had fascist imagery on my skin, but it's just a deep love for Roman history really that tracks back to my early childhood.
I'm super liberal and anti war generally so I understand it's a dicothomy
The usual I guess, most people can’t handle critical thinking. 😅 That makes sense, I agree to some extent that the time difference takes away from the crimes committed. It‘s your tattoo and your personal story and emotions attached to it that makes it valid either way.
Hate to break it to you but that's Trajan, which isn't a bad thing depending on your historical preference but it doesn't align with your stated concept.
Very obviously Augustus of Prima Porta.
Agreed!
if you look at the armour it's clearly Augustus Statue
we just lit it top down to give it more gravitas, as I think it's quite a soft statue
I'm well aware. The face however is of Trajan. Either it's because of skin stretch, mistaken reference, or the artist missed the mark and isn't very good with portrait likenesses. And that's ok in a way because a lot of people are face blind to this level, i'd say 80% of good technical tattoo artists are so they cope on all the particulars around the face (hair, beard etc) thinking that's enough for a likeness. I see this in aspiring portrait painters too, capturing the actual spirit of an individual's recognizable uniqueness is much harder than just technical proficiency. So, I would greatly suggest OP get it fixed or avoids people who know the difference.
Lmao no it’s not, Trajan had a way shorter face with a harder bowl cut
Truth!
touch grass 😂
The face is quite dark so it's hard to tell exactly but I can see it being both Augustus and Trajan. But I think from the posture, breastplate and hair we can see that it's based on Augustus of Prima Porta.
Yup
Caesar is rolling in his grave because Vercingetorix is depicted heroically and not as a bound naked slave. Epic tat though.
