Re-posting this because I've changed my strategy/approach in my eyesight improvement. This post will also serve as a reminder to my future self of how I started with this journey.
In the first week of April, 2024, an optometrist verified a prescription of -3.75 R, -4.50 L (Both CYL are less than 0.75) and therefore I need to change my current glasses which are -3.25, -3.50.
Somewhere in the back of my mind knows wearing glasses just doesn't felt right, but I have been told I'll get used to it and I have to wear it all the time. By doing so, my prescription just only got worse (lens induced myopia).
My 10-year myopia progression: (R, L)
- 2014: -0.50, -0.75
- 2017: -1.50, -1.75
- 2019: -2.25, -2.50
- 2021: -3.25, -3.50
- 2024: -3.75, -4.50
Fast forward today, I have learned that there are natural ways to improve eyesight (Myopia in my case), and there are people who successfully reversed their condition, as long as I am a committed healthy individual and I have no underlying eye diseases. (e.g. glaucoma, cataracts ,etc.)
The approach...
After some research, I decided to follow Mark's idea of not wearing glasses at all, unless required by law (e.g driving) or any situation that warrants me to see the details or else I put myself or others at harms way.
So this will be my "personalized" strategy:
1. Complete Removal of eyeglasses when I am indoors/outdoors.
- To see my computer screen, I will just move it closer and gradually distance it as my eyesight improves.
Note: I choose this so I won't have to spend on frequent changing of differentials & normalized glasses. And I also believe this will be less strenuous for my eyes and brain than trying to adapt with different prescriptions.
2. Incorporate Techniques that Mark teaches.
- Being aware of the peripheral vision (objects, shapes, color, distance)
- Notice everything as 3D
- Rocking side-to-side to notice depth an perceptions of objects in-front and background
3. Do outdoor activities as much as possible.
- Watching the Sunset
- Jogging/Walking for at-least an hour a day
- Or just be outside/balcony noticing distance scenery
4. Limit my usage of smartphones
5. Read or do close up work only in a well lit environment.
6. Allow natural sunlight as my source of light during the day by opening doors/windows at home.
7. Good Diet (Removal of processed foods, sugar, alcohol)
