According to @ta__tech on X, this is the dummy unit for the upcoming Samsung Z Fold 6
Incredible innovation
Whatever innovation knocks like $800 off the price of the Fold 5 so I can snag one of those is the innovation I'm interested in.
Or trade in the fold 4 for the fold 6 with $800 knocked off
Only in the US. Samdung won't give even 200$ for fold 4 in my place.
This. I hear people complaining about "only" getting $700 trade-in deals. Meanwhile, I can get €250,- at most.
Same here. American market is obsessed with iPhone, so Samsung gives a better deal to them and treats the rest of us like crap.
I only got "$1000" trade in my Fold 4 for the S24 Ultra, I hope to get something similar
F... my z fold 3 aint worth trade out. 😭😭😭
Why is that? That's horrible.
This assumes that every person has a Fold 4 and/or wants to get fucked on a trade-in lol
That's what the used market is for, my friend!
Yeah except I can just wait a few weeks and then buy a brand new Fold 5, warranty and all, for like 50%-60% or original price.
Got my fold 3 for $300 + tax flat, until then…
Exactly. I snagged a 512GB unlocked Fold 5 for $695 from Samsung over Memorial Day weekend. They also gave me $550 for my cracked S22 Ultra.
So brave
Ground breaking!
Much wow
Rip shibe ;(
Well i'll pass if it is like that
They give us a few mm a year on the outer screen. It's be a normal proper outer screen by about the Fold 11 ;)
It's like they purposely want to make it more uncomfortable to hold.
Guess I'm going Pixel fold 2 this year.
(And for all the other mediocre upgrades this year.)
It'll be very, very slightly different dimensions, so that you can't use any of the cases or screen protectors you might have for previous iterations, and Samsung then hope you buy their own overpriced cases for your new phone.
probably comes with the same hinge ribbon issue as well (where bluetooth and wifi doesn't work)
Why is that?
Never heard of that happening
wait. my fold 4 wifi and bluetooth just stop working. whaaaat
Looks like the hinge is darn near non-existent
I thought the same thing yesterday and I remain hopeful that is the case because it looks more like one phone instead of two connected by a hinge. Unfortunately, I think that is just the angle. Also, this leak shows otherwise. Assuming it is accurate.
Still a lot better than it is currently. Looks like a little more than half of the left side compared to the 5.
Agreed. I'm excited about this. Can't wait.
What do you mean by half of a lift side and how can you see that in these sketchy photos?
I was just viewing some posts about focal points or something and how it changes your face. I guess that is the case here vs the teaser.
Dummy model, probably not accurate
The one plus open hinge blew samsung away with how flush their hinge looks and feels.
Samsung felt like a last gen product compares to one plus's first gen attempt...
Hopefully they don't embarrass themselves again.
The one clear thing to me based on reading all these comments is every change samsung makes pisses off one group of people and appeases another.
I imagine this is the reason they sit around circle jerking every release because they can just hand pick from a couple things they've removed in past releases and re-release them and people act like Jesus has risen.
Literally the #1 change I've seen people clamoring for is a wider front panel and a place to put the spen. Give us these and the other half is now swears they'll never buy another samsung device because the phone isnt one handable now and they never use the spen so they'd rather a thinner device.
I have to upgrade this time around as my girlfriends fold 3 is on its last legs and my Fold 4 is going to her. The only change I care about is a wider front screen. Everything else could stay the same, I don't care, I just want a normal front screen. Id welcome upgraded lenses as well but give me that front screen.
Couples that fold together stay together
Looks pretty good. Outer screen looks more normal now can still see the crease but overall looks nice. Went from a Fold 3 to S23 Ultra debating about the Fold 6. Samsung starting from the S24 series are supporting the devices for a long time with major Android version updates. Question is if the Fold 6 will be able to last a very long time.
If it's anything like the Fold 3 it's going to last. Still have the 3, has a normal case on it and I've dropped it a bunch of times.
Same here. Been waiting for the 6.
Same here, have a 3 that's done great but looking for something a bit more innovative personally, this looks like the same but no doubt little advances here and there, I'll wait and see the pixel fold 2 if that's the case.
If it's anything like the 4 it's gonna fail. Hopefully Samsung doesn't regress again.
My 3 is on its last legs. I hope it lasts 6 more weeks. I need to charge it 3x a day even just leaving it on standby, and Micro-cracks on the inner screen. Luckily, I don't have any business trips planned so no need to be away from a charger, and if the inner screen fails I may just decide to live with for a few weeks, but the wait is killing me.
Buy a portable powerbank of the highest capacity you can afford and a sturdy cable.
My 3 is luckily not too bad off, though I'm hoping the upgrade to 6 will be worth it. Battery has been okay, but the screen has developed some dead pixels along the fold (no cracks). Tons of scratches on the hinge and frame, but, to be fair, I've had it since release and haven't used a case in the last 2 years of owning it. I'm incredibly clumsy so it's a miracle the thing isn't completely destroyed. Great device, I just hope the 6 really does slim if down some more, change the aspect ratio, and modernize the design with more angular edges. It would be perfect (for me) then.
I'm also really interested to see if the ultra rumor is true. I doubt I'd opt for it, but still interested.
You got lucky, I had my 3 break a year into it's life and I took a break from foldables for a phone generation. I've been on the fence about waiting for the next generation or buying in sooner.
The S23U has support until Android 17, which means three more years of major updates. That's until 2026.
I was hoping to get this one but my fold 4 is still going strong :( My son calls me the luckiest unlucky person. Can't wait to see the colours they will release in.
Same here. My launch fold 4 is a champ. There are no issues and still works like day 1. I want a bigger cover screen, but im going to hold out probably since my fold 4 has no issues. Im not sure yet either. 😔
If that is the 6, then it does look better front screen wise.
Fold 4 is a great phone. Haven't had any issues with mine, ever, with very high daily usage.
People don't want to accept the fact that hundreds of thousands of Fold 4s were sold and the vast majority are completely fine to this day.
I love my fold 4 but unfortunately I'm on replacement #2. I'm hoping this one lasts. I held out for the 6 but now it's looking like I may hold out for the 7
Ahh I'm sorry that happened to you. Hope #2 lasts!
Depending on the design of the Fold 6, I may end up upgrading to a 5 and making that my "final" Fold ever. Reason being, I really like the thin & tall form factor and despise what the Pixel Fold looks like, yet that's the direction most folding phones seem to be heading. Shorter and wider.
And I think it's going to be a pretty long time before any American phone manufacturers are capable of putting out a well-designed AND well-softwared folding phone.
Also, people act like the Fold 6 is going to be an even more refined version of the same phone, but IMO that's a flawed belief. The reality is that the Fold 6 is going to have a lot of new components and internal design changes. It's not really a Fold 6, it's more like a refresh. In the car world, it's highly advised to not purchase the first year of a refresh... I'm going to strongly consider that with the Fold 6. I would not be surprised at all if the Fold 6 ends up being the most plagued Fold over the next few years, meanwhile the Fold 5 ends up with the least issues of them all.
We shall see.
I really like the thin & tall form factor and despise what the Pixel Fold looks like, yet that's the direction most folding phones seem to be heading. Shorter and wider.
I want a triple fold that I can use in the standard size for the fold's inner screen, but I can fold or roll out another side for widescreen video.
Ive felt the refresh in Samsung flagships are usually the odd numbered phones, with the even numbered releases going with more noticeable design changes.
Edit: I see what you're saying, now. The 6 is the new design shift, but wait until the 7 to see all of those changes fully realized and optimized.
Same. 4 is a beast.
I forsee a flex cable issue in your future. I thought the same way you did till my wifi and Bluetooth were gone just from regular use.
If that happens, I'll pay $99 dollars and get a brand new one shipped to my front door in 2 days lol.
The same happen to me, lightly use it but suddenly the wifi, bluetooth and camera is not working. Luckily I still got warranty for it.
I also still have my launch day phantom black fold 4. Still works perfectly with zero issues. It has been a joy to use, but i do fancy getting the fold 6.
I only have the even numbered folds: i had the fold 2, fold 4 and now getting the fold 6!
Nice. Glad to hear your launch day 4 is still going strong. The 4 gets little to no love around here when it should.
Yeah, i don't understand the hate the Fold 4 gets around here as it is a beast of a phone. I just can't go back to a candy bar phone as i am so used to open it up when i want to use a bigger screen!
I was hoping my fold 4 since launch would make until the fold 6 but unfortunately it stop being able to unfold completely. But only paid $200 for the replacement
I, too, am on the Fold 4 and haven't had any issues. I also haven't seen any compelling features from the 5 or 6 to upgrade. The 5 was basically the 4 again. The 6 looks to be more aestheically pleasing with the improved hinge profile and squared corners. I like the matte metal look. Sad there's no pen slot and the front screen desperately needs to be wider. I might hang on to the 4 for another year and see if the 7 improves the front screen width.
Nice!
Still got the fold 3. I really wanna upgrade to the 6 when it comes out
I still have my launch fold 3 and it's still going strong with zero issues, but I'll definitely upgrade to 6 because the camera on 3 is ass
Yeah, the camera is definitely buttcheeks.
My fold3 is strong but the battery life for it is atrocious
same here lol rocking my fold 4
Yeah love mine, but the small front screen is starting to annoy me - really tempting upgrade and the sharp corners make it look very sleek.
The sharp corners look sleek, but I'm going to need a case with rounded corners. I don't want those biting into my hand while I'm holding it.
Me too! I’m keeping my Fold 4 if the cameras don’t get upgraded…
As soon as it comes out, I'm going to remove the case and screen protectors from my current Fold, that way I can enjoy a sleeker user experience... and hopefully shorten the life span a bit
Bonus: If I drop it and a screen breaks, my phone will likely still be fully usable until I can buy the Fold 6
Crazy no s pen slot or 100x zoom looks like im holding my fold 3 till the fold 7-8 wichever one meetd my demands of 100x zoom and internal s pen 12 payments left samsung has time lol
I like having the choice of which S-Pen to use. I have the Pro edition. BTW, designing a slot for the Pro edition would be a monumental feat. If only they could incorporate the same advantages of the Pro into the Fold edition, I would be interested. Otherwise, I keep the sheath the Pro came with in my phone pouch and music folders for more convenience.
hard to tell how wide it really is now, i think its just fold 5 with less bezels but i hope it makes a difference. one plus open and honor magic v2 have great width for me
The front screen doesn't look any wider to me. Am I wrong?
maybe very slightly
It could be a shrink the bezels but keep the size scenario. I took the picture and overlayed it on top of a rectangle representing Fold 5. There is no difference in size. But if they shrink the bezels on the front screen, they could widen the display. The problem with that, though, is that you need those bezels for most phone cases.
Display is 3mm wider.
So still not a comfortable display to use for those that don't want to unfold all the time.
I'm probably in the minority, but I don't think I can properly adjust back to a normal sized cover screen. It's so quirky and easy to use with one hand.
If it's thinner as the rumors suggest you absolutely will. I swapped from the fold 4 to the OnePlus open. I tested both side by side simultaneously one handed and could reach the same amount of content on both. Because the open was thinner.
One of the big selling points for me has always been one-handability on the cover screen, small tablet inner screen. Hopefully this maintains that
I am torn. On the surface, I like the outer screen because it is easier to use one handed, but I get way more typos regardless of which keyboard I use (Samsung, Gboard, Swiftkey in order from worst to best).
I've tried ever keyboard possible. The front screen is just a nightmare to type on.
Same here... I'm torn on the fron screen, on the one hand, it's good to use on the on the hand (lolz), on the other hand, many times it's just too narrow and I often watch YT content on it and it's just wasted space with the bars on the left and right because I don't want to cut off the top and bottom part of the image.
So I'm probably switching again from the 5 to the 6 with the main improvement being the front screen this time for me, since I assume that the battery life will further improve. Last year the switch from the 4 to the 5 was easy, because the 4's hinge was terrible (also compared to the 3) and the 5 was overall more refined.
I don't understand why you wouldn't just open it for YouTube. Presumably you're actually watching the video, not like driving or walking around while watching, isn't sitting or standing still watching video content the ideal time to open it? I think the only time I "watch" YouTube on the cover screen is when I'm listening to a podcast or similar content and the phone is mounted in my car
I open it ~45° and let it rest on the armrest of my couch. But only for podcast content or stuff I watch on the side, otherwise I open it and use the inner screen like in the gym when I'm on the Crosstrainer watching Netflix or whatever.
I’m a fan but that’s only because I enjoy the styling of the ultra. Most phones are just iPhone clones with their shape and the ultra is one of the only phones that looks drastically different with the squared corners. I understand why some people don’t like it and say it digs into their palms but it’s not really an issue for me.
NGL I was hoping that the inside display will be a little bit bigger, it the last picture is up to scale this will be quite disappointing.
If it gets any bigger, the aspect ratios would become more of a landscape when opened instead of portrait. I'm loving how the fold 5 and previous fold phones have kept it this way with a more seamless way of rendering portrait to portrait as as users flip from front to inner screen. And then having the option to flip to landscape when needed for videos, etc.
Loving the square corners so far.
If used caseless, will having square corners be more uncomfortable to hold (digging into palm)?
finally catching up to chinese designs from 2 years ago 💪💪🔥
Are the chinese designs IP68 rated?
Last I knew, they were not.
I know the Vivo X Pro 3 Pro X Ultra or whatever is called (the pro version only) has IP68. idk about other brands but OnePlus for example has phones that are still technically be water/dust resistant, they just didn't 'buy' the IP68 rating test. so there's a possibility some foldables are like that too
Damn I just want to crease removed or made alot better. Dosent seem that diff
Samsung is trolling at this point.
As long as it has a similar folded size to the S24, I'll be happy. I could use the S24 easily one handed. I got the S24+ and hated how over-sized it felt. The Fold 5 having the form factor of my S24 while being expandable to a mini-tablet was what finally sold me on it.
I would like for the Fold 6 to use more conventional aspect ratios so that apps aren't as broken and require finagling to make them look nice.
Great. More of the same just squarer...
How disappointing.
The front screen and edges look amazing. The front screen reminds me of the S24 ultra. Moved from Fold 5 to S24 Ultra, now it's time to go back to Fold 6.
Housed s pen? Quad speakers? 5k+ mah battery? Crease still there, meh...
A headphone jack and SD card slot.
Unfortunately I think those features are done for
Headphone jack is pointless. Just put the adapter and leave them on your headphones 3.5mm
And SD card would be nice. But Samsung copies apple with everything except customer service and their Ease of use website.
Damn shame Samsung fell off. Still buying all their top tier phones though
I will miss those round corners. Weird that Samsung put a lot of effort into rounded corner displays only to go to a more rectangular design.
I wonder if the sharper corners will be less durable?
I agree, I used a S23U for a while and the corners were annoying. I used to have the S20U which was rounded and felt way better in hand
Currently with the Z5, I really appreciate the one hand use of the fold. From those images it seems one hand won't be usable anymore for some people.
Yup I bought the Fold 5 as soon as the 6 rumors started (was holding off). I love being able to grab my folded 5 out of my pocket with one hand and easily swipe on Gboard when I have my other hand full. This happens a lot, for example while grocery shopping. Then I get my full screen experience at home. Best of both worlds.
Looks like the weirdos who buy an almost $2000 fragile folding phone just to use it like an A54 95% of the time won.
I have a S24 Ultra as backup and for drone use. I love the note feel but again, I just can't justify not using one hand. Sure I can use one hand mode. But then it defeats the purpose. Pros and Cons for all. Fold 5 wins the cake for me.
The corners are pointy af lol looks pretty slick tho
Pointy
I’m probably in the minority where I really liked the slim and tall front screen, still looks great though!
Still looking for an inside pen... I think that's going to be the thing to move me from the 5.
Still don't see an S-pen slot, fairly disappointing there as using the S-pen for notes and doodling is huge for me and other folds le phones don't put as much emphasis on it.
Disappointed about the introduction of sharper corners. I agree they do look nicer but they are significsntly less comfortable in the hand in many positions I like to hold them in.
My fold 4 refused to update, so I got a fold 5 for free!
So far, it's the bees' knees.
Looks great, but seems like my Fold 4 will happily go on another year.
If this is real, I was hoping it would be a bit wider
I don't like the sharp corners. That's just gonna jab into your hand all day.
Not to mention the discomfort if you keep it in a pocket close to your body,.
It's the fold 4 with incremental updates
I don't see the hinge in the first picture.. looks kind of like an ultra in the first picture and an opened fold 5 in the rest...
I still think they need to change the aspect ratio and possibly the relative axis of the hinge. A shorter but wide aspect ratio is what I want.
How thin is it going to be? I wish we can see the sides of it.
Unfolded 5.6mm down from 6.1 and folded 12.1 down from 13.4.
Funny, I care about this the most.
Welp, i'll be keeping my fold 5 this year.
First fold i got was the Fold 2, and each fold has been incrementally better. This is worse in my opinion. Sharp corners are really bad for a device you hold and type on. I can just feel those corners digging into my palm looking at those pictures. Nothing they can do on the Fold 6 will be worth the ergonomics trade off.
Terrible crease ...more or less the same old form factor, nothing excites. Sad if 6 turns out like this. I will pass and go for competitor Oppo Find N5 next year
cool but unless it comes with an spen housing slot, i'm sticking to my fold 4 and wait for fold 7
Pure innovation. Samsung totally hasn’t been selling the same exact product for three years
What's up with Samsung and their ugly ass sharp corner design.
I'm hoping the inner screen aspect ratio is the same, I don't like squarish foldables and like that the inner screen still maintains a distinct portrait/landscape orientation
Hmm interesting what about the camera level is it going to be same level like S23 Ultra or S24 Ultra megapixel level..🤔
Yeah if its still uses the same camera setup we had since the Fold 4 it will probably be a pass for me.
Same. I don't necessarily need it to have the latest and greatest on offer - though it SHOULD for the price - but I DO need an improvement over my Fold4. It's not that the camera stinks, but it's noticeably not as good as my wife's S23.
This was my biggest disappointment with the fold 4 I hope they improved it a ton, will probably upgrade in a snap if they made it like in the S24 Ultra.
Is there a good resource to compare camera configs on different Samsung phones? I'd be coming from an S22 so I might be easy to impress.
Time to look at the competition?
It's been time
id buy it if its actually wider like a normal phone or close to it.
i still make so many typos with the small screen
I open mine up to type when away from my desktop setup.
That square inner screen is really not for me, gaming and watching videos will not be a great experience compared to a more rectangular aspect ratio
Skip.
I had a fold 2 and fold 3. This could tempt me back
I'm not really a fan of square phones, but the S24 looks good in person. I like what I see here.
Looks nice Galaxy fold 6 better then fold 5 and one plus open
the outer screen looks much wider but then that width doesn't translate in the picture when unfolded? Is it just me or is something a bit off here?
The outer screen can take up more of the width without the overall width changing. It could just be taking up more of that outer surface.
Yes. It looks like they shrank the metal bezel.
I overlaid the outer screen over a box representing the Fold 5. It's not wider or taller. It's the same.
If it's as thin as the honor magic V2 then I'm buying one
Looks a little wider folded. But could just be the squared off corners.
So they stetch as much out of that left bezel as possible.
I like it, i dont want the phone to be phisically any wider but getting more out of the existing dimensions is nice.
Taller thinner faster stronger
Having a fold 5, will only switch if trade in value is 1200 😒
I don’t know is it just me or is the front screen same?
Same size, but the metal bezels are smaller.
It's 6.3" instead of 6.2" with a different aspect ratio.
Looks like I may go from my S24U to this. The number of times I have counted this week alone where a foldable would be more useful is too damn high.
I think it looks great
square
All looking good. I cant wait. I skipped the 5 since it was not a big upgrade to me. But i am ready for the 6
I’ll probably just keep my 5 if all that changes are just pointy corners
Very nice.
Squared corners look beautiful. Are we still on for the ultra variant?
How can I send a clear video sent from a Samsung fold five to an iPhone owner thank you?
Send via an app: Messenger, Telegram, WhatsApp, etc.
I'll keep my Note 20 Ultra another year
Officially pissed off now that I got the S24 Ultra
Hoping the cameras get an upgrade. I’ve been holding on to my fold 4 for a trade in. 😬
Not one person has mentioned that the sharper edges could be major problem and not be problem.
1 first we know its going to be lighter should have the titanum frame from the S24 which I have picked and felt paper thin coming from a Fold 3.
2 nd the width is finally bit wider and could finally be what we have been screaming to Samsung we needed since the Fold 2.
I will be trading in for sure and getting the 1 TB version
Let hope we can get the well deserved S24 Camera setup alread.
And last is the Fold 6 Ultrs which wont have the pen digitizer and will be much lighter and thiner with even wider cover screen.
I need the pen digitizer for my artwork, music annotation and photo editing. BTW, did you mean the Fold 6 Slim?
No I meant the Fold 6
I'd love to see a side by side of the fold 5 and fold 4
I actually like it. The problem with making the front screen way wider is that you also make the inner screen wider, which can result in an awkward square.
Hopefully, the more recent rumors about the camera getting upgraded are true.
Is front screen same size as before or like s24 ultra?
6.3" up from 6.2" with a wider aspect ratio, so minimal change.
I prefer the not so sharp corners to be honest. Also sure hope cameras are flag ship best oit there. Greedy but spend fit inside lol.
So now it's a proper candy bar shape
This is the normal 6 though, I want pics of the Ultra 😅
Damn I've got a broken 4 on the fence to get a fold5 or s24 ultra then you go and spoil me!
Get the s24 ultra. I swapped my fold 5 for it. The ultra is way better in every department and I have zero regrets.
I like the sharp corners. Might be the first time I consider going from one to another within the year .
The crease looks wider if that makes any sense. Sort of like the OnePlus Open
Probably not gonna match the OnePlus Open in terms of dimensions, but if it's close, I want it. This is typed on an Z Fold 2 btw
Nice crease
Damn. Still way too thin. Google Fold 2 the for me.
Cover screen reminds me of an S Ultra
Happy with my Fold 5 purchased 3 months ago :) ill wait
0.1 inch wider outer screen compared to the Fold 5. Doesn't seem worth the trouble of changing the design.
Looks like it's the same dimensions but with sharper corners.
