PSA DONT GO TO MINUTE CLINIC IF YOU CAN AVOID

I decided to be safe and schedule a covid test when I started showing symptoms. They only had appointments for testing if you include a MinuteClinic consultation. I decided to do it since I figured it’d be covered anyway.

I show up and the NP looks at my MediCal card and says sorry we don’t take your medical group. The medical group on my card was supposed to go into effect on the 16th (future date) so I asked about my current medical group AltaMed. She didn’t understand and told me “we will check on an updated website”. Once they check she says “I guess it was changed already to altamed so we can see you” (not what I said but at least she could verify eligibility).

During the consultation, my covid test is negative so the NP decides to test me for flu. (why????) Also negative so she has no idea what to tell me except come back in a few days if you still have symptoms.

I then receive a bill for $400 including $100 for the flu test ($50 for each nostril she swabbed). For anyone who doesn’t know how MediCal works, any doctor’s office or clinic is not allowed to charge you for a covered service. If they do not accept your medical group, you will be refused service. They are not allowed to see you, then turn around and bill you.

I tried to call the number on the bill and follow the voice prompts to talk to someone about a bill. “The office is currently closed please call back” this is around 2pm and I try again at 3pm on a Friday, same answer. I then decide to tell the prompts I’m calling for vaccine records, finally I get transferred to a customer service rep and I find out CVS billed CalOptima instead of my Medical Group. CalOptima would only be billed if I had CalOptima Direct, for anyone enrolled in a medical group they are supposed to bill the medical group. That’s common sense and anyone working in healthcare admin should know that! Just imagine if another patient didn’t know all this and thought they had to pay. CVS DO BETTER

**edit: stop commenting on this if you don’t know how Medi-Cal or insurance billing works. I don’t understand why y’all are defending CVS but they were wrong and are resubmitting the bill. I made this post to help others not get wrongfully billed by minuteclinic. I’m not sure if you guys know what Medi-Cal is but it’s for people who are below the poverty line or in need hence why they wouldn’t be able to pay a $400 bill that was incorrect to befin with

My mom keeps ordering costco online and it comes in these huge cardboard boxes. Does anyone know if they will accept these for reuse in store or do I have to just put it in the recycle bin? It just seems like a waste

i have been talking to this friend about his anxieties about sex and how he is a virgin (i assume). he is anxious about having a sexual encounter and wants to “get it over with” since a lot people of his age are not virgins (mid 20s). i understand this feeling because this is how i was before my first experience and i regret it. he also projects his hatred of roommates for having audible sex. he talks about how he’s anxious about dating and hasn’t seriously dated girls (he specifically mentions girls), ever or regularly go on dates either. I want to support him and have an honest conversation but I dont feel close enough to him to do that. i’m not sure if i should bring up the idea that he might be asexual so he feels comfortable or if it’s my place or if i’m even in the right ballpark. maybe he is just anxious? help- just trying to be a good friend

So I don't know if I'm reading too much into this or if I'm looking at it the wrong way, but when jeremy dies and bonnie is able to bring him back to life why couldn't she have planned to do that for the sacrificewhen elena was supposed to die?? they literally had no plan until damon decided to feed elena his blood to turn her and it ended up at the last minute that john was able to reverse that with the spell where bonnie tied elena's life force to him. was it because bonnie's decision was last minute because she loved jeremy??
