Yeah, trying to exert control over another business by abusing the commercial landlord/tenant relationship is one of those things that feels like it has to be illegal, but I'm not a lawyer and I don't know what would make it illegal.

That they got an injunction doesn't mean it's necessarily illegal, but it means there's enough weight to whatever arguments they made that it's safer to stop the eviction pending litigation than allow it to continue. I want to see why the court thought that, not because I disagree, but because I think it's interesting.

Honestly, I want to read this injunction. Not because I question its legitimacy (I think it's the right decision!), but because I think it'll be a good indicator of how wild this case is going to be overall.

I really wish we had a viable 3rd party

I'd take this as an opportunity to remind you the NDP exists, but... they haven't been doing great recently either. They've been going along with all the Liberals' bullshit (all the internet regulation bills) and the Conservatives' bullshit (like the internet age gating bill). The Liberals and the NDP have been working hard to make leftists, particularly those of us who care about technology and the internet, feel disenfranchised lately.

I guess Danny and Letty Mullin thought that 17 years was long enough and now they want to cash out.

Judging from Danny's statement to The Globe And Mail (from the article that's been floating around the comments here), he doesn't want to cash out, he's just salty at the Board:

The tensions stem from a series of disagreements between the Revue and landlord Danny Mullin. The 96-year-old real estate investor purchased the property, located on a prime stretch of real estate, in 2007. A resident of the community, Mullin then handed the building’s operations over to the film society, a federally incorporated organization that essentially acts as a board, with 10 volunteer members.

“No one is planning to evict anyone – I just want the board out of there. I’ve said that everyone who works there can keep their jobs if they want to work for me,” Mullin said in an interview Thursday. “I’ve been good to them, giving them everything that they’ve wanted, and they haven’t done anything since. All I want now is to get rid of the board. We’ll take over Monday morning, nothing changes.”

Not Ubuntu, but I'm on 555 with qt6, and it's pretty fantastic. Things weren't too bad for me before aside from some occasional black screen issues, and little oddities like Discord not actually rendering a window on first launch (and occasionally flickering awfully, but only if it did render a window on first launch), but I've seen none of that, and no other issues of the sort since the update.

Yeah, I wouldn't want it in the base game, it would be too arbitrary and annoying most of the time. But it's perfect for a mod!

Would make a pretty cool mod, though. Make all clothing slowly transition from clean to dirty, and add in washing machines you can build at settlements to clean them.

We don't even have hour long waits overnight here, usually. Our transit network during the day isn't bad, but the Blue Night network is exceptional.

They do not keep the time true in the video. SponsorBlock has been having issues with the A/B testing, because the ads offset the timestamp in ways it can't predict. (See their mastodon post and their FAQ).

There are ways it'll likely be able to work around it (including, as you mentioned, figuring out how the heck timestamp links still work with this) but for now SponsorBlock remains confused by the in-stream ads.

YouTube premium is a huge ripoff for creators and users

A huge ripoff for creators, who routinely report (based on their revenue metrics from Youtube) more revenue per user from Premium users?

If you're going to angrily rant about something, please learn how it works first. You're doing yourself a disservice by not knowing the basic facts about Youtube Premium.

But to save you the time... part of your Premium sub (not sure the actual percentage, but I'd guess it's similar to the ad rev split) is, every month, divided between the creators you watch based on the amount of time you've spent watching their channel. Given most people's viewing habits, this means that a Premium viewer can easily provide many times the revenue of an ad viewer on the channels they watch the most.

And while we're on the topic, Twitch Turbo also compensates the creator for Turbo viewers, though they only promise parity. These offerings don't tend to screw creators.

What is going on on King St today?

9:30 this morning, major power outage that lasted at least two and a half hours, stopping all streetcars east of John, not sure how far the outage spread. This stuck streetcar (which I guess could be related, if it was this morning). I just saw another streetcar being escorted by a cop, in reverse, down King to park on Charlotte.

Bizarre day for King St streetcars.

Reddit has, for some reason, started showing people random posts like this from subs they're not subscribed to and have no interest in. I can't really fault people for coming into this thinking it was a sub they actually chose to see; it doesn't make sense to be showing it to people who aren't connected to Toronto.

I don't know if it's my favorite, but MRSA - Different will always hold a special place in my heart. I was already interested in DnB, but Enter Shikari did a quest mix with this track, and it got me into DnB.

Different is why I have so much Hospitality in my library, that quest mix got me a lot of new artists to listen to, so all in all it's pretty influential for me (and Different most so).

Yes. The TTC, unless their policy has changed recently, doesn’t lie about incidents. “Fire at track level” means fire, “trespasser on the tracks” means someone who’s on the tracks and uninjured, “personal injury at track level” means someone was injured at track level (intentionally, accidentally, by themselves or not).

Other places might lie about it, the TTC used to lie about it, but generally it’s better to be truthful in their communications.

Parental rights to dictate their child's gender. Parental rights to dictate their child's sexuality. Parental rights to keep their definitely-not-queer child away from bad influences with blue hair and pronouns. Parental rights to prevent their child from being exposed to anything different from what they, the parent, want the child to hear.

"Parental rights" is a convenient catchall for the right to control every aspect of your child's being, and a convenient dogwhistle at the moment for anti-queer (and particularly anti-trans) sentiment.

They address that in the notice. Can’t have buses run on the tracks because the lanes are too narrow and there’s some center poles that that would get in the way.

About 2 weeks. Could be worse, though it’s… concerning that there’s nothing up on TTC.ca about it yet.

Got this transit notice in my mailbox today.

Saw them already getting started  on the work yesterday, too, with signal people directing streetcars while they worked on a big hold they made under the tracks. Things don't seem to be in great condition if they're patching the tracks live while streetcars are still running on them.

Consider how many people get on a GO train or bus and then transfer to the TTC; consider how often TTC trains and streetcars and buses run compared to GO; consider how many routes the TTC has that run at that frequency; consider how much more GO costs for a given distance than the TTC.

It's a pretty staggering difference, but it makes sense. The TTC is a huge network that runs a lot of routes, runs many of them 24/7, and has very tight headways on some of them during rush hour.

Yeah, I hear that line as "fake my death one more time" half the time when I listen to the song. It's similar enough that if you're not listening closely enough you might interpret it that way...

As others have said, the visuals are a remake, but to answer your question more specifically:

BIG thanks to HuntroxicMusic (u/HuntroxicMusic) for remaking the visuals. Social Media Links to his awesome work: Youtube - / @huntroxicmusic
Soundcloud - / sealthelion
Twitter - / sealthelion

(ignore the link to a reddit user; not sure why the description says "u/" there but it doesn't seem like Huntroxic was ever on reddit, at least not under that name.)
