Gotcha. if you have the builder app you detour thru there (it also acts as pulling up instructions) then you hit the “register set” and it brings you to the browser. So one extra step but you end up on a browser page to finish the process. But this week it didn’t work for me like it did a coupe weeks ago 🤷🏻♀️
Yes. But not the code on the box the code on the manual. I can Confirm that I tried to do it Thursday and it didn’t work. If it’s a fairly new feature to do that scanning and linking it to your account via the builder app it’s maybe just buggy. But it happened to me Thursday evening. I scanned a ton of sets weeks ago and it worked fine. Then Thursday it just sent me to this Lego landing page where nothing happened.
I tried to post a link but I think that’s a no-no but basically google around for black and decker stackable rolling toolboxes and then within that more containers that fit within that snap shut, etc.
If movement and carrying is an absolute must that’s probably the way to go
That’s what your 401k, IRAs and the stock market is for. If you don’t trust financial institutions you can always become an art collector I guess. But Lego ain’t it.
Cats don’t read negative human emotions like we might think it’s just like we are either giving them attention or we are being scary/loud. So grabbing the cat off the shelf and not yelling is actually playing with the cat, and yelling at it is just scaring it, but it won’t associate that yelling with its behavior. Cats are hilarious like that. It is VERY hard to not accidentally reinforce bad behavior, the key is totally ignoring or diverting. You want to divert. (Totally ignoring is when they like meow at you endlessly for food or something. That’s when you give them nothing.) but for what you consider damaging or non ideal behavior:
cats need vertical space, and Lego shelves are just that. Get the cat its own vertical space…cat shelves, cat trees, etc. you have a small apartment, but may have free walls. You can make your apartment “bigger” for your cat by thinking vertically.
cats get bored, so when they are being annoying and messing with your stuff they are actually saying “hey I’m bored let’s play please give me attention” so you just stop what your doing and play for a bit, let them get out their predator instincts on a cat toy rather than a Lego. Young cats can play up to 10 minutes, but they get tired so as soon as they kinda stop playing, then you give them a small treat and hope they groom then nap. If they have more energy, just rinse and repeat, but the main thing is like: play > treat > groom> nap. But you can only get them to groom and nap if they get their energy out the treat mimics them catching they prey in nature and being able to chill …by not playing and getting it over with you’re just extending them focusing that energy on non cat toys (and annoying you in the process) this takes a lot of discipline and is not something I myself do all the times that I should, but when I do it? It works like a charm 😬
get one of those press buttons and record the word “play” then every time you play, bring the cat over to it and make it hit the button with its little paw. Anytime the cat is on the Lego shelves bring it over to the button and make it hit the button and then immediately start playing with them. If the cat ever hits the button on its own jump right up and play. Basically provide an alternative form of communication for your cat to express the desire to play that isn’t it messing with your legos (and let me be clear: I have a cat, she uses the play button, and she still also does cat stuff like jump on Lego shelves to get my attention. It’s not a perfect strategy but it’s cut down the goofy behavior by like half…play is the only button she uses. Ever. 😂)
It sounds like you also have a young cat, so you may have to remove a few particularly enticing parts here and there until the cat hits about 2 years old or kinda chills out. Also museam wax or tacky wax is your friend. It creates just enough resistance to a cat paw swatting, tho I would put a sacrificial Lego at the bottom of anything you want to secure, because the wax kinda gets in the crevices. That tacky wax is more for smaller sets and staging, anything a cat paw can swat at
That happens! It’s great that yall have a space for your hobbies! My Lego room doubles as my work office and has some cabinets that are an extension of my pantry BUT the game changer was when I got rid of the sleeper couch and replaced it with Lego storage. I can no longer accommodate guests 😂🤷🏻♀️
Glad to help! Be sure to post it all once it’s done 😃 nothing better than a dedicated Lego room… I just did it myself recently and it was the best idea I had in a long time
Oh yeah. Honestly it’s whatever works best for your brain, storage space and number of bricks (it’s all three of those things in tandem)
Another thing I do that’s worked out very well is I simply number my Akro mills. So I bought sheets of sticker dots on Amazon and so each whole unit is one designated color and numbers counting up. And importantly I organize them intuitively for me (like I described) but this is the most important thing: I leave empty space. So my 64 drawer one: SNOT bricks take up 1-13 and then 14-16 are empty and turned around (so the number and lip are not where I can grab it but just flat.) and then the SNOT bracket pieces start at 17 and go to 32, with one empty drawer and then the clips start at 34 and so on. What this means is if my SNOT pieces grow further, I have three empty drawers at the end of their section to expand into, so I only have to move a few drawers over instead of moving every drawer by one (like If the empty spaces were all left at the end…or if I left no room to grow, which would be worse). Here is a picture of what I’m talking about. Third picture.
The numbering works really well for me because it means I can just yank out any drawer I want while I’m building and then know where they go back every time 😂
I just upgraded from Akro Mills to IKEA Trofast. But still kept my Akro mills for other pieces. So my trofast drawers were mostly broken out by color, and was a mix of bricks and plates. So one drawer was white pieces, with smaller containers within from the container store: 1x2 plates, 1x1 bricks, 1x2 bricks, 2x2 bricks and plates, 2x# plates, 1x# plates and 1x# bricks. Out of the 18 drawers, 12 were by color. The other six held bigger stuff but mixed. So one drawer for all my 1x1 studs, plates, tiles, etc..one drawer for larger plates, so the 3x#, 4x# And so on. One drawer for all my printed tiles broken into categories (based on what was printed on them: paper, electronics, art, signs, food, nature, etc.)
Then my Akro Mills are for the following: smooth pieces, weird pieces and modified pieces. The 64 drawer one holds mostly all the SNOT and clip piece. Then the mixed one (half small half large) holds all my tile pieces. So anything smooth and larger than 1x1. Then I have two small 16 drawer ones (that I treat as a single unit) and those have other random pieces that aren’t SNOT…round, corner, jumper plates, etc. then the one I have that’s all big drawers. That’s where I put the mason ones, tall pieces, clear windows…it’s kinda like the other “weird” one but just bigger in size pieces therefore bigger drawers
Ok check your messages I’ll start a chat and send pictures that way. Seems I can’t do anything but link in the comments
If you don’t mind dying a lot, maybe googling a few things If you feel like you missed something. But in the end it’s like doing yoga. You can pretty much feel like you can always be better and that you still aren’t good, but then low and behold you make your way thru bosses and when you pick up another game that isn’t a brutal souls like game you’ll be like “IM SO GOOD AT GAMING” which was my experience when I played Tears of the Kingdom after getting dog walked thru the entire lands between playing Elden Ring 😬
I’ve heard about the super boxes. All it means is you can watch the local feeds that air in New Orleans.
It’s not live, but NFL game pass which is like $100-$120 or so is all games stream on demand about 30 minutes after they air. So if you can be patient, that’s a good choice
I work from home but this is what’s behind me during teams meetings
Holy crap this is genius. Thanks for the pro tip
IDK but my friend texted me and had me order it for their kid. (So I could get the points, which I did during double VIP weekend)
They happily paid the price. Minecraft is a popular IP.
You can do it in any order, but you must do it before leaving sit island. Don’t think of it like you have to “go back” but rather continue to explore.
NFL game pass is all the games streaming about 30 minutes after their conclusion. If you don’t mind a delay, that’s the best value if you are looking for something that’s legit and you don’t mind paying. But there are less legit sites to access live games you just gotta google around.
NFL game pass use to be $99 for the year now its gone up a bit to maybe $120. Sunday ticket is upwards of $350 or more, but it’s live.
Basically if you don’t mind a delay, NFL game pass is the way to go
Gotcha. Then the cheaper meal prep containers may be the decently priced solution if you plan to keep doing sets this way. You can get a stack of 8oz ones and bigger like 16 or 24oz should do the trick
Word. Yeah ppl get mad when they put crazy colors on the inside. Like…all black would be hard to see. People would mess up more.
Yeah I just did a Gym MOC and my treadmills are definitely a brighter color than you would normally see lol
I watched a video where someone went thru every Lego ideas original and the Lego makeover and I learned something about Lego designers in the process: Lego will sometimes prioritize color theory and contrast over making something an exact duplicate.
Basically meaning they will add color detail and contrast that’s not “real to life” simply because it looks better to have those flourishes. The best example of this in action is the mediaeval town. The original was very brown and looked great. The Lego version they changed the building color to have these dark blue accents. And it also looks great. One is more realistic and one is more Lego looking. They also did it a little bit with the Hocus Pocus house. The original had a brown roof, brown siding and tan house with dark brown accents. They switched the roof from brown to dark grey and it’s now got more contrast to the other brown parts of the house.
I don’t think it’s a bad thing, it’s their brand and their vibe. And as I make MOCs of my own stuff, I try and bring in the color theory a bit. Add color and contrast, because why not.
I love this set. And my cat loves knocking over those pillars to get my attention. Have fun and enjoy the build!
Go look in your cupboard! Pyrex 9x12 and other baking and braising dishes work great. Any Tupperware or whatever version of that you have around your house. I managed to get my hands on 4 in-n-out trays which I also use for Lego’s but I wouldn’t want to encourage theft. I also happened to have puzzle trays from when I got into 2000 piece puzzles during the pandemic. Cereal bowls, mugs…you may not need to spend money. Just run any dishes you use thru the dishwasher before putting them back.
If you do want to buy something look at like school and classroom supplies. I got like two dozen of these somewhat large sturdy zipped bags that I guess hold pencils. that’s a good interim holding spot for the first wave or sorting and storing.
Also if you need lots of smaller containers, meal prep containers on Amazon are pretty cheap, come in lots of sizes, are stackable and reusable and aren’t super expensive for the amount you get (which is usually 25 or 50)
Yeah like selling bags of neutrals colors or natural colors in various pieces. I would throw my money that at. Or selling SNOT and modified pieces in packs
I have a theory.
